Nikki Ips in Conwy

Simply superb from the decor to the service drinks and main attraction the food. Don’t really see how anyone could not give this place 5 stars. This is second visit and it gets better and better. I’ll be back there next week

An unplanned visit to this welcoming restaurant proved to be a delight. The staff were very friendly. The food was outstanding and I would certainly visit again.

A disappointing visit to Nikki Ipps. Environment not up to usual standard.... Our table faced a fire door overlooking a scruffy back yardChose my meal from the varied menu but received the wrong meal. Unfortunately I did not realise this until I rechecked the menu. The waiter was nice but accidentally dropped a quarter of my meal on the table but assured me he would speak to the Manager to reduce the price of my meal.However when paying for my meal, the Manager played the loss of part of my meal down until I insisted that a substantial part of my meal was spilled. He agreed to delete the charge for my rice!! I found him to be a little flippant with my request.I will not be retuning to Nikki Ipps

We visited for the first time & what a fantastic restaurant. Friendly greeting, staff very attentive & food just brilliant. Huge portions & really good quality. Been visiting Noth Wales for 15 years & was recommended by a friend. Will definitely recommend to others & will be visiting again.Thank you

We booked in 1 hour before Guy welcomed us in with open arms I was nervous as my kids are lively! Had a great meal topped off with great service ! Will be back next year on our annual pilgrimage to North Wales

This has easily been the best Chinese I've ever had. Amazing food, brilliant and friendly staff who were attentive and explained the menu well.

Always worth a visit. Bookings have to be made well in advance because if it’s popularity and social distancing is well established as a matter of routine. Normal menu is excellent and the portion size is very generous but the additions of the “specials” make it a cut above your average Chinese menu. Fabulous attentive service too makes for a great night out.

We were eating out for our daughter's 21st, received a lovely welcome from Holly,and we were seated upstairs with a fabulous view over Conwy. The covid rules had been fully explained before our visit and there was was plenty of room between tables for social distancing.Stefan took our order and was so helpful explaining the dishes, making suggestions for alternatives and what would go well will the main meals.The most welcoming restaurant I have ever visited, beautiful food and we had a great evening. Thank you so much, we will not leave it so long next time!

The Covid-19 safety issues were extremely well taken care of and the tables well apart, so you felt safe from the start. The food was excellent, far better than a 'standard' cheap Chinese, and if that's what you are looking for, go elsewhere. The meal was fresh, extremely well cooked, with some lovely interesting flavours. If you appreciate oriental flavours, you'll enjoy Nikki Ips.

Fabulous food and service, one of the best Chinese restaurants we’ve found. Definitely worth a visit or a detour if you’re in the area. The beef in brandy chilli sauce was exceptional.

The staff and service was great. Very attentive and everything was delivered with care.We should have made a point to take note of the 'contemporary' aspect as we felt the actual food varied massively from authentic restaurants. Being local, we tend to use Fu's in Caenarfon or even the Jade at Menai Bridge, who both offer traditional food.The mixed starter was disappointing as when it arrived everything was seafood other than the ribs, this wasn't explained. The next table along had a similar issue. Two of us at the table don't eat seafood.I also have to say, this is the most expensive 'Chinese' restaurant we have ever visited, including those in London.I wish the restaurant well but based on taste and costs we wouldn't visit again, a personal thing, although we didn't feel it represented authenticity and good value for money.Keep up the great service.

We had a superb meal here for my husband’s birthday. The ribs were very tender and prawn toasts were bursting with prawns. The crispy shredded beef special dish was amazing - unique and extremely tasty. I regularly order that elsewhere but Nikki Ips version was very different and delicious. The peppercorn fillet beef dish was brilliant too - very tender. Can’t rate the food high enough.

So nice to return to this fab restaurant after such a long time. Service and food is spot on as always, nothing has changed. Best Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to. Remember to book as they’re always fully booked! 🥰

Not been so disappointed in 'Chinese' food for a long, long time. I love Din sum at Glamorous in Manchester and have Chinese descent family who run a bakery in Sydney. I threw most of the food away, it was stale and inedible.

I ordered 2 crispy beef and 1 szechuan chicken with 1 fragrant Thai rice. The food was awful and barely edible. The crispy beef was soggy and the overwhelming taste of vinegar just drowned any flavour out. In fact 30 minutes later my mouth is still feeling the vinegar "burn". I had to throw most away and my son didn't eat any.When my wife rang to provide feedback she was told there are suppose to be vinegar undertones but the smell and taste were so strong it just overpowered everything to leave it disgusting to eat. Definitely won't return and poor attitude to the feedback provided.

We ate in the small wine bar attached to the main restaurant - the staff were charming, amusing and very professional - the food was excellent quality and value for money - probably the best Chinese meal I have eaten anywhere in Europe - highly recommended !

The welcome by Stefan was lovely. Took our temperature and explained all the Covid 19 rules. Unfortunately, the food was very bland and very expensive. We were really looking forward to our meal but left very disappointed. Perhaps we caught them on a bad day?

Food was amazing. Generous portions, fresh fish and seasoned perfectly. Great atmosphere. Excellent service from Stefan, made us feel welcome and we will return just for the friendliness. Covid precautions taken seriously and felt very safe. Cannot wait time return

Very disappointing.... after reading very good reviews we decided to book for the Friday evening 1:- they couldn’t find my booking 2:- they tried to sit us near the front door 3:- absolute no ambiance the place could do with a good scrub the floor upstairs is dirty and hasn’t been maintained in ages the decoration is abysmal, a place definitely “resting on its laurels” the food was quite good but vastly overpriced we will not be returning

We were so happy it was back open for dining and couldn’t wait to visit again during our time in Wales. All safety measures in place - temperature check on way in - staff wearing masks etc. Station car park across the road is 50p all evening if no space on road outside. The food is always consistently good - piping hot and fresh - well presented- friendly approachable staff. We had the salt and pepper ribs- spring rolls to start. Followed by Crispy duck with pancakes etc and it was plentiful and tasty. We had the Sweet chilli chicken with basil meal to share with rice as we know the portions are generous and we really enjoy the starters with eyes bigger than our bellies!! Well worth paying a bit extra and we feel you get what you pay for with fresh ingredients, great service and view of the harbour too....I often have ‘ MSG headaches’ the next day from eating at other Chinese establishments or take- aways but never from here. Always good to support local businesses - use them or lose them......Hopefully be back very soon! Thanks to all staff and compliments to the chef.....

Very thorough procedure explained when we booked (door to use, temp taken, track and trace details etc). We were asked to arrive with our order in mind. The service was quick and efficient. Food was great, with unusual takes on traditional dishes and innovative ideas too, as well as old favourites. It would have been good to have a staff member more readily available upstairs, to take extra orders. Food is a bit pricey, but very good.

This is the best Chinese food I have ever tasted. Everything was amazing I even tried squid for the first time it just melted in my mouth. Would highly recommend this place. The staff were all excellent. Loved everything about it.

Fantastic meal, great wine and lovely staff. The crispy beef is to die for, and even the stir fry veg is a pleasure (rather than something you eat out of guilt). Highly recommended.

My daughter and I visited on Saturday evening and had a lovely welcome from a lovely gentleman who seated us , took drinks order , and food order all perfectly. The mains food , sweet and sour Cantonese chicken and duck breast in a lovely sauce plus a large portion of rice were as amazing as the starters were. We hope to have a desert but enjoyed other two courses so much we decide we’d keep that thought for the next visit. We were also very impressed with other couple of staff who came to check on us. Overall , excellent service , amazing food and memorable evening. X

Although quite expensive, the food was of a very high quality and authentic. Service was excellent and precautions were made to ensure our safety. We felt very lucky that there was a cancellation or we would have missed out.

We had a gorgeous meal, amazing service and just loved the whole experience. The bbq ribs were the most memorable part for me but my husband loved the beef dumplings. Reasonable prices for fresh, authentic food. It tasty so different to cook at home and takeaway experiences we usually have.

I love this place. It totally exceeds expectations. From the moment you arrive, till you leave you feel special. Like a valued customer. The food is first rate and I cannot praise the staff highly enough. I will certainly be going back again. Bravo!!

We were staying in a B&B nearby and needed an evening meal, takeout due to Covid. We had been for an evening walk and saw the restaurant and took a card.Called several days later and we were treated to the most amazing Asian meal we have had in a long long time. Taking the order over the phone, we were given extra helpful info about the dishes ordered (crispy sweet chilli beef and sweet chilli chicken). Both dishes were bursting with flavour and fresh ingredients..the chicken was gorgeous plenty of it too. Food remained hot to eat after walking back to accommodate 9 mins away.Superb.

I got engaged in this restaurant a few years ago and we like to go on special occasions. I love Asian food and this place is THE BEST. They have so many options to choose from and everything is absolutely delicious, I love it.

Had a takeaway meal yesterday. Very efficient telephone ordering and well run contact free time slot collection.The food was up to the very high standard you expect at Nikki Ip’s. The prawn toasts were hot and crispy with pieces of prawn that actually tasted of the sea. The spicy chicken wings were delicious and the complimentary lobster crackers a lovely touch.We shared a Cantonese filet steak dish with egg fried rice. Lovely veery tender steak with really crisp finely sliced vegetables. The celery gave the dish an added taste dimension. Thank you from two very full and happy customers

In these difficult times, Nikki Ipps has started to do take away food. All the food of its menu is available, all cooked to the same standard, as if you were sitting in the restaurant. The food, as always is excellent- the crispy beef, while not being crispy by the time I got home (they did warn me as I ordered that it wouldn’t be) was to die for, as were the salt and chilly ribs, that were so tender, my toothless nan could enjoy them.Can’t wait for the restaurant to open again so we can visit properly, but for now, this was a really welcome treat in difficult times. Thanks to Nikki and all the staff for still making it possible.

The weather was atrocious (storm Jorge) and we nearly didn’t go, this would have been a mistake! From the moment we entered the experience was fantastic. The staff/service was excellent, with the manager helping us decide on what we should/would have, explaining that we didn’t need two rice/noodles as our portions were ample and he was correct. The chilli and salt ribs are to die for! The mains we chose were also delicious. Thank you, will definitely return.

Just back to our hotel in Llandudno after having a 3 course dinner with my wife for her birthday. The food was exceptional along with the service. Really nice menu with the food cooked to perfection. The staff also surprised us with a firework on my wifes desert plate and a rendition of happy birthday which was a nice touch.

We had duck (half) to start and then selected three mains with a rice dish. The wonderful Maitre D talked us out of three and said two would be fine. They were more than!

Myself and my husband visited here on Christmas eve afternoon. We're from Shropshire and was staying in conwy for over Christmas. Reading the fantastic reviews we booked up to go. From the minute we walked in we was made to feel very welcome.We ordered our food which was mostly from the special menu and a nice bottle of wine it's a great choice of food and drinks menu. We loved the starters we had the lamb and the king prawn dish. Mains we had the duck and King prawn in black bean and special noodles all was so delicious We decided to have another bottle of wine as we was having a really nice time. When were in the area again we will definitely be returning as its great food with lovely friendly people which gives it a great atmosphere

This restaurant has a wide choice of quality Chinese food. This is a funky restaurant serving delectable fusion food. We had excellent service, small bite platters, and wine in an eclectic decor. The wait staff and host were most friendly and accommodating. Definitely worth a visit and reservations are recommended.

We visit here 3 times a year, staying over at localHotel purely for this restaurant. Stefan is a fabulous host who is very welcoming and informative about the food. Wouldn’t be the same if he were absent. Food is so fresh and plentiful, although pricier than a normal chinese it is definitely worth it. My husband has the sea food hot pot every time which is simply divine. Nowhere compares. Another great evening thank you.

Had a lovely meal at Nikki ips with family so much to choose from on the menu. Staff are friendly & helpful if your unsure what to pick look forward to the next visit hope it’s not to long.

I think it would be fair to say that this was the most expensive Chinese we have visited. However it would also be fair to say that the food was among the nicest we have ever had. The chicken in black bean sauce in particular was fresh, rich and delicious.

A wet Monday evening, we hadn't booked but as it was early (5 p.m.) we were given a table til 7.15 p.m. The young people who served us were very helpful with details about the dishes on order, which were slightly different to other Chinese meals we have had. Two of our party had the ribs to start - this could have been a main course. I had scallops, which were delicious, and another chose won ton prawns. For mains we had duck, beef, squid and lemon and honey chicken with prawn rice and egg rice. We all cleared our plates but found room to share toffee apple and fried ice cream. We are tourists, so unfortunately can't make this our go-to Chinese restaurant, but would certainly eat there again as we would like to try other items on the menu. A memorable meal for all the right reasons!

We called at a mid-week lunchtime so not very busy. Waiter was attentive and friendly. We had the set lunch of two or three courses and the choices were a bit different to the usual fayre which was nice. All very tasty and well presented. Compared with A La carte prices for same dishes this represented a great bargain.

Great place, we made a last minute decision to go to this restaurant and I’m so pleased that we went, both the food and the gentleman who served us are fantastic, only in Wales for one week but we will definitely go again before we go home

This was our very first visit to this Chinese restaurant in Deganwy but we had such a pleasant time and the food was first class on arrival I was greeted by a very pleasant young waitrer who was able to guide us through the many delicious meals on the menu the service was very quick and the food all arrived piping hot it all made for an evening to remember

Passionate, diverse and spotless Chinese food

We've visited several times, but not found time to review, so want to put that right. Each time the team have been very attentive, the food excellent with nothing too much trouble. The wine bar is a bonus ball where we've eaten on one occasion as the upstairs restaurant was full, this didn't detract from the service or the quality of food, sign of a well organised team. Definitely a place we'll use regularly.

I have been coming to this restaurant ever since it opened in the late 90s, the food is excellent and the place holds a lot of happy memories for me. I no longer live in the area and don't visit the restaurant as often as I used to but always try to eat there whenever i'm back.

In Conwy for one night on business and this restaurant was recommended to us. We walked from our hotel and were greeted and a table found for us in the Wine Bar. The menu was extensive but not too much that you were over phased. The dishes were on the pricier side, but you pay for good quality.

We visited this restaurant on a Tuesday evening after being on a little mini break in the area and it was recommended to us! We love our Chinese food and this certainly didn’t disappoint! The food was amazing- among the best Chinese food we’ve had! Absolutely gorgeous. It was a bit on the pricey side but the food was worth it! The service was also excellent and the waiter who served us was a young lad and so efficient and bubbly. The management has got this place spot on! Next time we are in the area we will visit again!

Visited Nikki’s last night to enjoy a meal with friends. So we started in the quaint little wine bar next door for a few and then made our way to the table upstairs. It was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and nothing was a problem. We weren’t being rushed around and could really enjoy ourselves.

Several pluses to this restaurant. The waiting staff are really good and knowledgeable about the food. The food was fresh, well cooked and hot, as were the plates.

We were on holiday in North Wales last week amd called in last Tuesday evening for a drink and to book a table for the following evening. There was a terrible thunderstorm while we were there so unable to leave. We were made to feel very welcome, given complimentary nibbles and entertained by the lovely staff (particularly the waitress who told us about her car - a white Fiat 500. I too have a Fiat 500, a pale blue one). We ate the following evening and were again made to feel very welcome. The food was freshly cooked and to be recommended. Well worth a visit.

If you are in the Deganwy area and looking for great food, exceptional service with a nice touch of humour, this is the place to visit. Varied menu of consistently good produce. House white and the red wines are both very acceptable. Upstairs part of the restaurant affords lovely views across the river towards Conwy if you book the couple of tables by the window.

Tiny restaurant and the view from the back of the restaurant is a building site. I had nice skewers starter the sauce was the similar flavour from a Chinese in colwyn bay but it costs half the price there. Main course was an average flavour. I had beef Cantonese with noodles and rice. Again run of the mill. The pudding was lost on the plate tiny portion for 6.50 was ok the Eton Mess strawberries was still frozen. Over all I paid £103 for three people. Some portion starters and puddings was tiny main was the best overall was average for me. Decor in the building was adequate nothing fancy. Felt like decor could improve . Felt a bit oldie worldie needs modernization big time,Nothing to write home about.

Visiting Conwy with family and stopped by Nikki Ip’s for dinner. The hospitality and the quality of the food simply one of the best that I ever had in a Chinese restaurant in UK. I highly recommend the starters (i.e. yuk sung and spare ribs)

First time here with friends on Saturday night and we will certainly return.

This place is great. The young male waiter was fantastic. Friendly and welcoming and super efficient. Food was delicious and plentiful, we over ordered and took what was left home for supper. It’s quirky and not what you expect but it was obvious that people return time and time again. Wish it was on the South Coast - we would be regulars if it was. Definitely recommend.

My family and I took my son for his 18th birthday celebration and true to form we had a lovely evening start to finish. We are regulars to Nikki ipps and my son chose to go here over any other restaurant locally as it always delivers. Firstly, front of house Stephan is always welcoming and we all love his charm and banta. Stephan always goes through the menu and can help recommend dishes and or dietary requirements. The food was fabulous as usual and he even brought my son a cake a firework as a surprise at the end.

After several visits to Nikki ipps as a couple my wife and I brought the kids along too en route to Abersoch. As always the food and service was excellent and the mini chip advisors approved too. In fact they wanted to go again on the way home a few days later. Herbal salt and pepper ribs for the win

Never once over this past decade+ have I ever been disappointed with the quality of a meal or the excellent service received at Nikki Ips. From fresh scollops & steamed Seabass to banquets of celebratory meals this restaurant has 100% always delivered and my most recent visit with friends didn't disappoint either. From fillet of beef HongKong style to steamed King Prawns served with Sichuan beansprouts etc is always packed full of flavour and always cooked entirely fresh when we order, so we never mind a slight wait for special dishes of the day. Every time i fly back to UK this is where we all look forward to coming and never leave a dining experience disappointed. Really looking forward to returning, only worthy of 5stars in our opinion :) Thanks to Dylan, Stefan and the team.

Small but stylish restaurant. Staff young and friendly. Good choice. Vegetarian Prawn dish not great but other 3 meals good. Starters to share good and authentic. Value for money? Some of it a bit Chinese take-away standard and banquets very pricey but overall a good experience and will return

Had a lovely evening here food was excellent cooked so fresh and to perfection fully enjoyed wine was great would go again. Staff were lovely and the food was beautiful go and try you will not be disappointed brilliant evening.

The restaurant setting itself is nicely decorated with beautiful decor, although the food only slightly above average but over priced we felt for our starters and a main dish. The problem is certainly the manager we found him to be quite above himself when serving and greeting, we were asked to keep the noise down there was only 3 of us! He certainly needs more training as you can tell from his reply’s to customer reviews very rude! Shame as other staff were friendly, just seems like a very clicky place and if the face fits your ok!! didnt enjoy the atmosphere won’t be returning!

Lovely, helpful staff. Cold plates and bowls. The only food we could keep hot was the rice as it was in a lidded pot. Noodles were stone cold in minutes. I had sauteed chicken which was very bland, very disappointing and went cold quickly, same with our pork dish but the pork dish was very tasty. Very expensive for what we had. Much nicer food and much cheaper at East in Llandudno. But I have to say we've had nicer Chinese takeaways too. We won't be returning.

Excellent food, and a really good atmosphere. Front of House Stephan is really accommodating, and happy to give advice on food. I have been many times, and never disappointed.

Pleasant environment. Staff friendly and service was good. Food was excellent. Sadly, they don't do cocktails but we will be going again.

We visited Nikki Ip's as a family, the restaurant was busy when we arrived and we received a warm welcome, we were shown to our table upstairs we sat down and promtly asked for drinks, good drinks menu, the male waiter promptly took our starter order and was very informative about the menu, the starters arrived quickly but we felt they seemed underwhelming, the thai fish cakes were nice but lacked spice and wern't very Thai in flavour and quite dense, the vegetarian dumplings were quite bland, chicken satay was good, and the portions sizes were good, on to main courses, the food arrived hot and very generous portions but again lacked spice and flavour, the chicken dishes had a tasteless coating and a mild sweet sauce, the beef dish i could not taste any brandy of chilli it was just heavily laced with soy, the noodles were nice, seasoned vegetables just stir fired in oil but slightly bland, after the meal i visited the gents bathroom and found the toilet did not flush after 6 attempts i gave up, overall you can get better Chinese food elsewhere for half the price with a bit more authenticity, each to their own i suppose.

We’ve eaten here around 5/6 times and on our first visit the manager recommended I try the crispy fillet of beef, I was hooked and just have to have it everytime I return. What a dish. Last time we dined, I got that, and my husband got the brandy beef, which was also very tasty. Manager is absolutely lovely, obviously knows the food backwards and forwards and is always willing to recommend and advise on what to get which I love! Thanks for a great time again! We’ll be back again soon.

I booked a table for a group of 8 friends recently, and was informed over the phone of a 10% service charged that would be automatically added to our bill. A slightly annoying practice for a company to inforce a service charge prior to performing a service, however I didn't think too much of it.

The restaurant never fails to.impress! Had a lovely lunch yesterday. Food quality outstanding cooked fresh to perfection and excellent friendly service. See u again soon!

This was not the first time we've eaten at Nikki Ips, and certainly will not be the last. As always, we were made to feel welcome, and with Stefan never far away if we needed any help ordering. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

Booked last minute for a meal for 3 and had one of the best Chinese meals I have ever had. All dishes were explained clearly to us so we knew exactly what we were going to receive and my Szechuan sweet and sour chicken was absolutely beautiful! Can not rate this place enough!

We decided to have lunch here due to recommendations from friends. We were given a warm welcome by a gentleman called Stephan and shown to a window table with lovely views of the Conwy estuary and castle. Stephan talked us through the set lunch menu and the main menu and recommended dishes according to our tastes and both the starters and mains were beautifully presented and tasted delicious. I had the chicken skewers with soy sauce and the steamed king prawn with garlic and onion and my partner had the crispy seafood pancakes and fillet of beef with brandy and chilli sauce . We couldn't find fault with the the service, food or, wine (a lovely sauvignon blanc) and will definitely return in the near future. Thank you Stephan.

Dont normally write reviews although this experience was terrible that I felt I needed to. Firstly The manager of this restaurant for some reason believes he is upper class to his customers very pompous man looking down on me and my wife and children, making the dining experience very uncomfortable when we were the paying customers. Food was ok although definitely not what I expected with the good reviews and having eaten at countless top restaurants around the country this doesn’t compare especially with a manager like that won’t be bothering again!

This has to be the best Chinese meal we have had in a long long time . Although we live quite near we have never been so we booked here as a 21st Birthday meal for my daughter. The restaurant is very well laid out with plenty of room there is also a part where you can see the chefs at work.

Deganwy is a small place and this restaurant is so good. It is friendly and unpretentious and the waiter went beyond his job, discussing the food and making all customers welcome. The food is freshly cooked and full of flavour- the ribs were especially good. The portion size was excellent - we only needed one rice between two of us. It is a restaurant that we will return to, even though we live a distance away.

Perhaps we were just really hungry , but we went to nikkis for a post snowdon climbing bite to eat and honestly every single dish was perfect ! - perfect spice perfect flavours perfect meal !

Made to feel so welcome by the staff, the manager was so helpful as we didn't really know what we wanted to eat, he knew the menu and ingredients inside out and his recommendations were spot on as we ate the lot well almost we took a bit hone too lol

this is the third time I have eaten at nikki ips and yet again the food was excellent - Stefan looked after us as per usual and the staff were all good. I loved the steam buns - my favoutite

We called in having not visited for years at around 3-30 so we eat in in cafe area.

We had not booked but it was fairly quiet being mid week. We chose to sit on the high stools table and had starters and main courses. The satay skewers were incredibly tender and the portions for the main courses were substantial and delicious. The staff were friendly enough and once we had ordered food was delivered promptly.
