East in Conwy

Been coming here for years whenever I visit llandudno. Best restaurant. I recommend the Cantonese chicken it's amazing. Can't find anywhere local that matches it 👍👍👍

We ate at East on Saturday 30th March. We arrived at 5:30, it took 40 minutes for someone to take our order. Starters arrived sporadically with some people waiting for food when the others had already finished. The main meal did not arrive until almost 8 o'clock. We had to ask where the food was on several occassions. Most other tables were experiencing the same delays. There was a large table nearby who were unhappy because their food had taken far too long to arrive and again had not arrived together, what happened next was disgraceful, the manager was called and got involved in a long drawn out debate with the customer over whether or not a discount should be given, he argued that because the customer had said the food was good they should not get any form of discount for the fact the food took almost 2 hours to arrive. A member of the party believed she heard the waitress swear at her and called her out on this, the waitress said she had not sworn at the woman, the two of them continued to shout at each other in front of the other guests. The customer should not have shouted at the waitress but in my opinion the best thing the staff member could have done to difuse the situation was to apologise for what the customer thought she heard and then walk away. Shouting in the middle of the restaurant is not on. The food was ok but certainly not something I would rush back for.

Food was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our meal and will definitely be going again when we visit wales.

Family of 5 Saturday evening. Starters were lovely but main meals were served that far apart so by the time the last person was served the rest of us had finished our meals. We were told they were short staffed and the waitress hadn’t given correct order to kitchen. All the main courses apart from one were not as described on menu and were very poor. We left after complaining to manager who said he had deducted price of one main course from bill, but as bill was not itemised we could have been charged anything but after a disappointing meal and empty apology we couldn’t wait to get out of there.

Awful service awful food very overpriced 22 of us for party banquet not enough food to go round told not allowed to order of normal menu as to much work for the chef won't be going back

Visited here many times and it continues to amaze. The food is really great, amongst the best quality of Chinese food. Especially the starters and great, including the ribs which are meaty and cooked perfectly. In my opinion the starters are better than the mains, but same could be said about a lot of places I suppose.

First of all I would advise booking as it is very busy. We walked in without a booking and were greeted by friendly staff , they gave us a table and served us drinks fairly quickly , they advised us they were very busy and food would take longer than usual , which we didn't mind . It did take quite a long time for food but we were happy they even gave us a table the food was absolutely delicious we aren't from the area but If we were we would make this a regular spot , fairly priced as well we got 4 drinks between us , quarter crispy duck , 2 mains , noodles and chilli chips all for £60

The food and service was next to perfection

One of the best in North Wales for a tasty Cantonese style meal plus plenty of Japanese dishes to try and all meals are reasonably, priced. Highly recommended the set meals👌👍

Salt and chilli squid is recommended 👍 we also had beef in black bean sauce and sweet and sour king prawn , both very tasty x

Had a table of 7 vegans, the food was so incredible totally yummy and they catered so well for us even having many vegan wines 🩷 best black bean sauce ive ever had 😍 and the deep fried tofu starter was so amazing! Would 100% reccomend, great service, great food, acoomodating and lovely people :)

We had dinner there as a couple. The dishes were served promptly and the food was good, especially the sizzling steak. The staff were friendly and attentive. It is quite a small place though so you might want to book.

This is my favourite restaurant the staff are always very friendly and welcoming nothing is too much trouble. The food is always very tasty and hot which is a bonus .Yes a very busy restaurant I've never had to wait for food to arrive .Very reasonable in pricing and the staff are always very helpful if you have any queries regarding ingredients....never disappointed well worth a visit

We booked a table after ABBA Mania at Venue Cymru. They stayed open for us and to say we weren’t disappointed. The service was impeccable and the food was the best we have eaten in a Chinese restaurant. Fresh, tasty and plenty of it. The prices were very cheap compared to where we live. 2 starters, 2 mains, fried rice and a bottle of wine . £61. Would definitely recommend trying here !! 5 stars from us

Went to Llandudno for a couple of days. Found this lovely little Chinese restaurant. Found it very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. We had, chicken and cashew nut and szechuan tai chin chicken, with a starter of skewered satay chicken. Absolutely delicious. Excellent service, 10/10 for food and being made welcome. Highly recommend this chinese restaurant. Will be returning 😁👍

We arrived in Llandudno on a dark stormy night, and we searched for a place to eat. we came across East and popped in, and the host was really friendly, and nothing seemed too much trouble for us, and the food was second to none, the three left full. There is plenty of choice for everyone around the table.

Basic traditional Cantonese food with some Japanese influence. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very quiet when we visited. Prices reasonable.

Recommended by the hotel , thoroughly enjoyed the meal . Staff were excellent, would definitely cone back here next time we're in llandudno

My daughter and I visited East tonight. Really welcoming staff, the waitress was so attentive and really made my daughter feel special. Lovely evening, great food. We will definitely return.

We visited for dinner. The service was swift and attentive. The food was exceptionally good. Hot, fresh and very very tasty. The price was reasonable. We had the gourmet banquet between three people. There was plenty of food for us all to share. All the courses came swiftly. We had a lovely evening and would highly recommend it. Thank you East, you made our day even better.

Portions were a bit small but food was very delicious.

Entered restaurant inside very very outdated decor and appearance. Was seated to a table by a Chinese front of house person, who could hardly speak English or understand what we were saying and then after writing down the order he still got it wrong. The meal appeared in a very short while, and quite honestly the serving dishes that they served the meal in were battered and badly chipped and then instead of giving us dinner plates we were given small side plates and had not been warmed in the slightest. Quite honestly for the time we were in there we were ripped off. On looking into the kitchen there was an English chef/cook who quite honestly should have been front of house. We were glad to pay the bill and exit the restaurant to which we will never return. Please bear this in mind, this review before going there.

Probsbly the best Chinese in the area. Flavours are kind of westernised, but it is still enjoyable. Very popular destination, so I would reccomend booking.

My wife and I have experienced many cuisines but this place tipped the scales. We had the meal for two, Japanese style, and the flavours kept coming. I would recommend this little restaurant for anyone venturing out for a culinary treat.

Our starters chicken and sweetcorn soup and my barbecued ribs were really good also my husband's beef curry but my crispy sweet and sour chicken was terrible,,,,more like burned chicken. When we complained the waitress couldn't have cared less and did not apologise.

Visited tonight with my mum. Lovely girl who was serving, very friendly and quick service. The food was good. A little bit pricey. We had a sharing starter which was £16. Rice and noodles for the mains are £5 each separate to the meal. I think maybe sticking to just mains if you want to keep the cost down is a good idea. Other than that great little place.

We popped in for takeaway bout 7ish.Restaurant was busy but looked like it needed a makeover. Charlie who worked there was nice and kept us upto date with our takeaway. When we took them home the pancake rolls were tasteless.. Don't buy then, better from Asda.Egg fried rice and curry was nice but the sweet and sour crispy chicken was not the best. Wouldnt go back yo be honest.

This used to be the best Chinese restaurant in the Llandudno area, where we live and occasionally used East for special occasions. They had an excellent reputation in the town, the staff were exceedingly polite and the oriental food we have used to be fantastic! However, there was a change of management a few years back and, whilst it is still pretty good, it hasn't been the very best.

East is a fabulous place for both eat in and takeaway. The food is top notch, tasty and reasonable prices. The steak in either black bean or black pepper sauce is my favourite, with the noodles and rice. Best to book if you want to dine in and ring for any takeaway. Excellent place.

As a family we came here for lunch for the first time in quite a while, but we have always been pleased with our experience here. We all had various items off the menu end everyone was very pleased. Delicious flavours from fresh ingredients all well prepared. Some of our party had three courses, and everyone agreed the food and service were first rate. Well worth a return visit.

If you are looking for authentic Cantonese food don’t come here… total scam. Why on Earth is this called traditional Cantonese roasted duck? It is fried crispy duck in a puddle of oyster sauce. Order this if you are up for MSG and sodium. Roasted duck is supposed to be a cut of the duck served with the skin crisped, often comes with plum sauce in a sauce plate… They also got the ton yum soup wrong! They ‘repurposed’ miso soup with some random prawn and served it to us. Of course we didn’t let them get away with it as we know what authentic ton yum soup is, and they brought the actual ton yum soup for us after we raised this.

Aside from the unchewable stir-fried beef and chicken, the noodles were unbelievably dry and stiff as if cooked several days earlier and microwaved for reheating to serve. They were out of udon noodles, so I got the Kung Pow chicken, which was fine. But I was shocked that they charged £2.50 for a little bowl of white rice (that was slightly below average), and unhappy they tacked it on as an additional item when they asked me if I wanted it. It was about 10 pence worth of rice, by the way.
