Nick's in Mansfield

Rude staff not acknowledging you as they are too busy with online orders, portions get smaller and the price gets higher quite often, I used to love this chippy, but unless it changes for the better they've definitely lost my custom after being a customer there since the first day Nick opened those doors 😔

Tried the Back Grill this evening and wow 🤩 it was fab. Chicken Souvlaki was tender and tasty. Crisp, fresh salad and the chips were lovely. Huge portions, well worth the money. Will definitely be back 😊

Great local chip shop with great produce, friendly staff, and clean

Let me start off with their food is absolutely phenomenal, i have always loved their Fish & Chips but the Back Grill is something else , we had the Lamb , Pork & Chicken souvlaki with rice and chips and salad and all of it was just amazing, we can't wait to have it again and there is nothing better than it being served with a smile , the whole family is so friendly and happy when they serve you. If I could give 6 stars for food and service I would.

Me and my husband absolutely love "Back grill" there.. had it tens of times. The meat is tender and tasty, perfect. Salad is always fresh and the sauce is delicious. Fish and chips are great too honestly. Highly recommend this place

I can partially comment ! I wanted to buy cod, but it wasn't strictly halal in its mixed-fry preparation. But they were very pleasant.

Placed order tonight, disappointed that requests were not met. Asked for no paper on cheesy chips, might sound daft but when you have a child with issues you would understand but no the request was not met.

Just tried the new “Back Grill” at Nick’s chippy, the charcoal grilled chicken souvlaki was excellent. Tasty big chunks of chicken, crisp, colourful, fresh salad, and a lovely soft, thick Greek flatbread, served with fries and tzatziki. It was all fresh, tasty and a bargain too! Five stars, would definitely recommend!

Very expensive not good value for money

USE to be my go to chippy - now it’s just overpriced and food isn’t half as good as it use to be! Such a shame as I’ve come here for years! Even saw them reheat the kebab in the microwave once!! Texture of a tyre! Such a shame

Dinner ordered at 7pm,arrived at 9pm despite being told delivery would be made in 55mins.All cold and horrible. Waste of money .All went in bin!

I ordered a mixed kebab wrap with salad, garlic mayo and hot chilli... I have never tasted such an off tasting kebab or experienced that kind of texture. There was multiple gristlely bits in it, that I felt very painfully as I bit it- this caused tooth ache for a few days after.

Never again, called in as passing through and ordered a pie meal which consisted of pie, chips and peas all smashed together onto a child sized polystyrene tray. Was charged £8.99 for this small mess and was stood around waiting for ages before order taken and seems as though the staff were all sulking or something. Bad vibes from the staff, I won't be stopping there again. Disappointed to say the least. Nothing was worth the cost.

Used to love nicks chippy but just had a a delivery chips were hard no flavour to fishcake which was also hard not the same as it used to be disappointing as its not cheap won't be using again anytime soon..

Always top class fish, chicken, kebabs, chips. Beautifully cooked. Efficient staff.

Appears nice, clean area, 3 parking spaces, nice selection available. Unfortunately I paid for a can of drink and a small chips and coat £5... this is price that belongs at a beach not a Small town in Nottinghamshire. Staff were very short and sharp, other similar shops are so friendly, chatty and talk to you like you're their neighbour. It is sad to see that staff can't show friendliness to people, unless it's their routine customers. First impressions really matter. The chips really needed just a little longer in the fryer to get that crisp. Second time was worse as staff was horrible, I never felt so uncomfortable in a fish and chip shop! I visited 3 times this week purely close to my work and short of time. I will not be attending this establishment due to the staff unfriendliness to new customers. I hope you the best

Absolutely amazing staff food and timing

Chips are often raw, undercooked and hard in the centre. Happened a few times now. Had to change my review as recently this place has gone down hill. Prices have shot up which i don't mind if the quality of food hadn't dropped.

First time I have been here, the staff were friendly, not sure what other menu items are like but the fish and chips I had were delicious 😋

Considering the number of staff, you miss a few birthdays waiting so long, all staff wanting fish then chips at same time. Simples to process your orders, one adds fish/ sausage/ pie etc then passes order to person doing chips, then pass to whoever gonna add sauces etc and then to person wrapping, keep it simples

Firstly this isn’t the cheapest Fish & Chips BUT I was always brought up by the expression, you get what you pay for & well these guys have hit the nail on the head with their food! Awesome fish & chips and have since been back for a mixed kebab which was really nice also! Unfortunately I have edited this review as I have been a couple times more and both times the ‘large fish’ was more like a large fish goujan and feel robbed tbh. Unsurprisingly in the short time I’ve lived in Mansfield (& like everything the price has gone up) BUT for fish to be that measley everytime when it’s the only chippy you can eat a large fish and yet still eat more, that is just wrong and you don’t get what you pay for…. 95p for a small SINGLE halloumi chip 😂 tells you everything. Get more bang for your buck somewhere else :)

Been using this place for years but, portions and quality have drastically reduced just lately, the cob I got was small,squashed and stale like cardboard and the chips mostly brown and dry all over like they've been sat around for ages. Majority of food thrown away. Definitely not be wasting my money here again.

Pale, scabby over cooked chips. This chip shop used to be lovely when I was younger, don't know what happened. Horrible chips. The mushy peas taste weird. All my mini fish was just batter, hardly any fish. Expensive but the food tastes and looks cheap. Won't be visiting again.

Great food, watch out for parking make sure you park in front of the chippy and not next door as they clamp, you can alway park on the street opposite

Popped in here for lunch as we were passing. The chips were okay but very expensive and the menu is difficult to understand, the specials need to be made a lot clearer. Parking is terrible.

Nice location for Derbyshire Dales. Food typical of most pubs these days. Accomodation over priced and looking a little tired. Just needs a coat of paint and ironing out of a few niggles.

Had fish and chips but a bit mean with the chips and fish a bit small for the price charged they should see the difference you get at ocean blue at sutton

Nick's chippy is fantastic. Ordered from here many times and never had a bad meal. Generous portions, quick delivery or collection. All we have to do is mention to our Daughter that football is on tonight and shes excited "Yay, is it Nicks chippy for tea" 🥰🥰 Friendly staff (including the delivery drivers, they always tell us to enjoy our meal) all round 5🌟

Foods alright, staff are usually busy gossiping then making sure everything in your order is correct

Has become overpriced. More worrying tho, as at July 2020 it has a hygiene rating of 3 but on their website, which they take orders from, they claim to have a 5..... Not cool.

Just had a mini fish and pea mix . When it arrived home everything was upside down in the bag , including the fish on the tray so skin side was at the top . Turned the fish over and there was no batter which made me think the quality was inferior and they were trying to hide it by placing it the wrong way up on the tray !! Not happy as quality and presentation wasn’t there . Didn’t enjoy as the batter on the fish is the best bit and there wasn’t any !!

Over priced for what you receive definitely when they not fresh got home with order all complained not fresh at all definitely tell the difference between old chips warmed up and fresh chips small portions given but the price it's a rip off definitely going downhill it seems they think people got money to throw away definitely when the order is disgusting.

There are only 2 chippys we recommend in the whole of Mansfield region and Nicks Chippy is one of them! Whenever our other local favourite chippy is closed we’re prepared to travel 20 minutes to come here! Good service and very fresh quality fish, keep up the excellent service guys! Highly recommend!

Lovely fish and chips generous portions

Excellent fish and chips. Even a choice of chip shop curry sauce or chinese style curry sauce. Don't go very often as not always passing that way. But always pretty decent grub. Nice and clean. Staff friendly and polite.
