Newtown Thai Kitchen in Stoke-on-Trent

Very poor no atmosphere prebooked table fo 4 but upon arrival the table wasn't set even though we were the only booking they had. Service was extremely poor every drink asked for not available giving excuse that it very quiet at the moment so no draft beers then only 3 bottles of Thai beers available. Felt as if the staff didn't want to be there the man complaining about staff shortage and having to do deliveries himself each time he came back into the restaurant he was complaining which made it even worse. Food expensive for what you got both red and green chicken Thai curry bulked out with cheap vegetables and poor quality. Would not recommend and will not be returning. This place is a takeaway not a restaurant and I personally would not even have a takeaway from there from what I saw the takeaways were sitting in bags for quite a while before being taken out for delivery so most likely be cold by the time you get it.

Absolutely disgusting food. No flavour, everything tasted the same which was gross. Burnt prawn toast, vile. Do not order from here.

First off, the place smells terrible, i don’t know why i didn’t run away directly after going in. The food didn’t taste anything Thai and most of it was plain out disgusting (the shrimps weren’t fresh and the egg fried rice tasted really bad). The service was terrible too: the « waiter » spilling soup and forcing one of my friends to switch from jasmine rice to egg fried rice because they were « making it already ». To be a bit positive, the udon noodles were alright and so was the Tom Yum but everything was overpriced so still not worth it. To make everything worse, they decided to change all the prices AFTER we had already finished eating (around 60% increase) and then proceeded to act like victims of the inflation. Never go there, and your life will be better.

They refused to give a refund after several items were missing off the order. Tried to contact them several times but the refused to answer the phone and FoodHub didn’t do anything about it either! Will not spending money here again!

If I could give minus stars I would! Got a takeaway…part of the order was missing, the rest was cold or inedible. The Pad Thai is not Pad Thai and it smells and tastes like vomit. The chilli chips were the only thing on the menu that I could find that was vegetarian…they were soggy, grey in colour and uncooked. This is not Thai food…my 8 year old could make more authentic, fresher, warmer and tastier food…and he wouldn’t forget a main dish!

As the title reads, poor quality and recieved raw chicken in the satay starter, they did replace with a fresh cooked starter once we complained but these took nearly an hour to arrive at which point the meal was ruined. Would have prefered a refund as we had finished the meal by the time the replacement starter arrived.

I called to order a takeaway and wanted gluten free vegan Thai Red curry (which I have had before). The lady on the phone checked with the chef and said they couldn't do it. I asked to speak to them as I was confused and she said they were too busy to speak to me. I asked to talk to anyone - she was so very rude. Not a place I will be attempting to order from again!! Disgusting!

Ordered a fried rice the rice tasted funny n smelly when tasted it was horrible n the rice looked watery like it had been there for ages. Called the place didn’t even ask for a refund all I was asked for another fried rice as I couldn’t even eat the one before and they offered 10% discount! For next order and hung up the phone shortly afterwards. Customer service was terrible was belittled and laughed at when I asked for refund or another fried rice and I felt terrible after that experience. Not a good way to treat people especially your customers.

Almost impossible to phone. Always engaged. Last time a couple of months ago we went down to the takeaway and it was confirmed the phone was not charged!!! Tried again today and still the same. Ordered on line and food arrived. Very good albeit a bit cold so have had to heat up in microwave plus the Prawn Crackers that we ordered and paid for never came!!!! So food is nice, but it seems like a bit of work in progress!

family meal. disappointed with meal even though some of us had been before and enjoyed it the previous time. Beer was warm and food not very hot. several of us had a dodgy tummy the next day, Wont be going again.

Paul and Nikki made our family night out excellent lovely food lovely staff, will definitely be visiting again, I can’t even describe how tasty the starter, mains and desserts were all delicious especially loved the ice cream desert

HONESTLY the very best takeaway I’ve ever had!!! We stumbled across this place on a night out and the very best curry we have ever had!! (I had a chicken Pa-nang) we went back several more time and just had a takeaway, cannot express how delicious their food is and how underrated it is!! 100% recommend, delicious!! 😋😋😋😋😋 I also recommend the ribs, the best ribs I’ve tasted! it’s now our go to every time!! Had this as a takaway. Its up there with some of the best food ive had in or out of a restaurent. Fresh,tasty. We had the ribs. Red curry. Teriakyi noodles. Everything was good. Highly reccomended.

The food is excellent and the staff are very friendly. The Thai green curry is brilliant and so is the chicken Pad Thai

I have visited this place twice in recent months, the food is superb and the menu has a mix of the usual Thai dishes and some unique traditional unusual ones. The Duck is A1 when in any of the curry’s and the stir fry dishes are fantastic! It’s all served up by the friendly owners, where nothing is no trouble. It’s really reasonably priced too, which is great. I will be back again on my next visit to Stoke on Trent!!!!

This is honestly the best Thai food I have ever had... we went for Valentine’s Day so it was busy but the hospitality was still amazing.For 4 pints, 2 mains and 2 sides £37... excellent value.Everything we had was perfect and delicious.I will 1000% be visiting again.Thank you

Had two meal from here now. First one was a delivery and second time we ate in the restaurant. Lively tasty food both times, you don’t have to wait long for food, good service and the restaurant is clean and tidy. Will definitely recommend and return more often

Found this new place on trip advisor heard very good things and let me say I wasn't disappointed the food is absolutely amazing Paul and Nikki the owners are lovely and can't do enough for you if you want a change from your usual restaurants then I highly recommend this place the food is out of this world, will definitely be going again

Its hard to believe that this is one of the best Thai restaurants you'll find between Birmingham and Leeds, we've tried many, and this is a cut above the rest - and most surprisingly, in Fenton of all places. Don't be put off by the location or the fact that this looks like a pub from the outside. The premises is clean and tidy, the staff are very friendly, the prices are good and the food is amazing and well flavoured (not a thick sweet MSG laden syrup that you find in most Chinese food), good sized portions. Recommend the Massamun and the Pad Nam Prick Pao in particular.

We had some fabulous authentic Thai food here today and it is well worth going out of your way for. Everything was freshly cooked by the Thai chef and was very well presented. An excellent find and we will be back!

My family and I visited here last night for dinner. It was quite an eye-opener as I used to occasionally visit here when it was the Newtown pub MANY years ago. The building is divided into two rooms, the first is the restaurant (which is quite spacious) and the other smaller room is still dedicated to being a bar - I speak more of this later.

Love this place friendly staff great advice when ordering the food they understand how spicy (or not) you want the food. Fast service a brilliant choice of food with a good understanding and choice of veggie / vegan food. Well priced with a great choice of drinks. Can't fault it!

Hi we thought the food was ok but not very authentic.the choice was ok and reasonably priced but the portions were small,also we were cold as the door kept opening.would not go again would rather pay more for more authentic food

We visited after seeing it when we drove past and im so glad we did. There's a great menu plenty for vegetarians they understand vegan too. Fast service amazing food great drink choices and very well priced. Can't wait to go back! It's 1/2 pub 1/2 restaurant but it works very popular with takeaways too people popping in for a pint while they wait for their food.

Visited on a Sunday, the food was much better than expected. Classic car of thrifty on the decor and spend the real money on quality ingredients for the meals.

I love Thai food and since a really good Thai restaurant in Hanley closed down a few years ago, My parents (who also love Thai food) and I have struggled to find anywhere locally which does good Thai food.

The service was so nice and pleasant and the food was fresh and tasty. The dishes arrived quickly and hot and we finished all very quickly.

Came for a birthday meal and had a really nice time. I’ve been to a few Thai restaurants and this is one of the best I’ve been too. The food was delicious the coconut rice was really really delicious. my friend had the salmon, I hate salmon but I tried abit of his and I loved it I would order it myself. The lady cooking was a great laugh as well as the gentleman behind the bar. All round brilliant night.

It’s not often you find a place that truly take pride in their menu. Friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Found this absolute gem of a pub / Thai restaurant & called in for a takeaway. Great warm welcome, ordered a takeaway & a pint while waiting. Food was absolutely top notch, real authentic Thai food. See you soon, will definitely be back.

Went here here following a recommendation and boy what a great place. The menu is extensive but not expensive. The staff were happy to advise on the ingredients. If you don't like any of the ingredients they are happy to take them out, for example, if you dont like spice they will happily adapt the recipe. Nothing is over priced. Nothing is too much trouble. Will certainly be back. A take away with delivery is also available

Food fantastic, the lady who does the cooking & serving is lovely, only 1 complaint is when we went to pay the bill there were lots of thing added that we hadn’t had or even ordered this happened on two separate occasions so just be aware check you bill before paying

Amazing Thai fried rice. It was so delectable and portion was large. I ordered prawn for the meat and got a generous amount of it.

Had a fantastic meal with my wife and sister. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Staff and owners were so friendly and helpful. Easy parking opposite. The food was great very tasty, good portions. My wife said it was the best chicken satay she's ever had. Yellow curry and massumun curry also wonderful. We can't wait to go again, we really enjoyed everything.

The food here was delicious, and reasonably priced. However the service wasn't great, I watched a young waitress wondering around the place with my starter asking at other tables if it was their order, for goodness sake the tables are numbered! There was also a problem at the end of the meal when we requested a receipt but the same waitress told us that they don't print receipts! I had high hope's for this restaurant but due to the service problems I doubt that we will be returning sometime soon

Well...what can i say...if you want delicious thia food then this is the place! We had a takeaway and the lovely gent on the phone offered to deliver! Ive got to say it is more than we would usually spend on a taleaway but it was worth every penny! The food was very authentic. You can tell its cooked fresh and it arrived hot! I will definitely be ordering from here again and would highly recommend! Topclass!!!

We visited this restaurant last night with our friends, keeping an open mind, and had an amazing night.

The third time my girlfriend and our friends have been and it just gets better, Paul and the team are very warm and welcoming and the food is just amazing, you have to taste a few different dishes because they’re all excellent, really can’t wait to go back. Plus they have a late license for a few post meal tipples. Brilliant place.

Must be the one of the best Tai Takeaway meals ever had, we ordered a variety of dishes recommended by the owners for 6 people including starters that worked out at just over £10 per head, they were all delicious some quite hot others mild but fragrant, Normally spicy food gives me indigestion but this did not, a must try for tai food lovers.

Family of 10 booked in for a Saturday night meal. This review is honest, and I don’t want to put a negative vibe into a new restaurant. We understand how hard it can be when things get busy. And busy it was. A fine selection of bottled drinks available and these were reasonably priced. In fact, I was very impressed. We ordered starters and mains. Starters were delayed, appreciated with the amount of people in. 2 starters were forgotten and reminded about twice. No worries. Teething issues. Mains again, delayed. Some forgotten about, some wrong, etc. The food that did come. 10 out of 10. I’ve never had Thai food. Ordered Drunken Noodles (no they weren’t full of booze!) and loved them. Can’t knock the food at all. Staff were lovely. Occasionally table would have a few dishes cleared then forget the rest. Bill came wrong at the end so had to be questioned and was happily resolved. No mither. Me and my partner would go again, perhaps not on a busy night though. So yeah, sorry for the 3 out of 5... but I have to be honest. Hopefully when we come again I can give a 5 out of 5.

Without a doubt the best Thai food available in Stoke on Trent . All freshly prepared , you can look through the kitchen window and see your food being cooked. I would highly recommend trying this place out . It’s difficult to find Thai food on a take away menu but this is definately the one to try , I picked up as I wasn’t sure about delivery but now know that they deliver. We had chicken pad Thai , king prawn massaman curry and coconut rice and it was all fantastic .

Just finished our first takeaway from here, telephone ordering very easy, food arrived hot and within half an hour, pay by card, contacless on your doorstep...couldn't be easier

Both myself and husband had a fantastic experience here. The food is delicious and a lot of choice. Staff are very friendly. Highly recommended. We are visiting again this Friday for a birthday gathering. Looking forward to it :)

Our first time at this new restaurant ... food was amazing, really authentic and bursting with flavours. Ambience of the restaurant -tables and seating wasn’t very cosy felt a little bit cold but food made up for this. Will defiantly be back.

First visit to the Newtown after reading other similar great reviews. Was not disppointed. Had the Pork Skewers for starters, following by the Drunken Noodles and Chicken with Cashews. All dishes had the right amount of flavour with heat, the Drunken Noodles was especially tasty.

Food could not have been nicer. Food was hot and tasty. New to the job just needs to get the service a little more slick, but I’m sure this will come in time. I hope so because it deserves to do well with the quality of food.
