Newbegin Takeaway in East Riding of Yorkshire

Great Takeaway, we ordered Special Chop suey, Giant Spring Roll, Chips and BBQ Ribs with sauce. A short ten minutes wait and the food was absolutely piping hot. Front of House staff very friendly. My CHop Suey felt very traditional, excellent vegetables, including bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, the protein included giant prawns, lamb, beef, snf chips were unusually good for a chinese takaway. We will definitley be returning each time we come to hornsea.

What has happened to what was the best chinese takeaway in Hornsea. We have been coming to Hornsea to our holiday homes over 23 years. In this last year we have been less, but always called in for at least 2 takeaways every time. In the last 4 times, yes 4, we like to give everyone the benefit of having a bad day, the quality, construction of the dishes has deteriorated dramatically, in just about every different dish we have tried the meal was no where near what we had come to expect. Meals were now either bland in flavour, over salted or over vinegared, the staff are friendly, but sorry I call in for the food and however friendly they are it cannot make up for poor food, sorry but I'm giving you a miss for awhile, might find another better chinese.

Had a trip to Hornsea. Fancied a Chinese so went to New begin. Really polite staff , super fast delivery and really good food. Nice.

new owners, chips bland, not the same, special curry totally different, not a curry, very tasteless, we are minimising usage of plastics, this poor standard has helped us make our mind up, unfortunate as the delivery staff and staff on the tills are lovely

Best Chinese take away around with quite literally the nicest people in the world working there. Great variety, great portions, great value for money, great service, always arrives around the time given and piping hot every time. Absolute winner.

The food in it's self wasn't completely awful, although everything was very vinegary and acidic. It was nothing like any Chinese I've ever seen or eaten before. The deep fried beef was soggy and the sauce was neither sweet nor chilli tasting. The chips were ok and the chicken balls were alright. The lady who answered the phone for our order was really nice although she said it would arrive in about 30 minutes and it actually arrived about an hr later

Ordered a takeaway whist on a short break to the area the food was delivered on time nice and hot and very tasty good sized portions and reasonably priced what more can you ask for.

Use this place regularly. Staff are always polite and we never have to wait long. Food is consistently tasty.

First night of the holiday, who wants to cook. So a takeaway was in order. Ordered by phone, ready in 30 minutes. We chose to pick it up as delivery was over an hour. Everyone enjoyed in the main, except the Satay, was definitely not Satay, not a sniff of peanuts. But not worth reordering, waiting, picking up.

Friendly staff on reception. Plenty of choices on menu.Food somehat just warm on arriving home so had to microwave it. Very tasty.

Disgusting!!!! DO NOT ORDER !! £50 worth of slop. It actually made my father vomit !! I rang to complain and was told "sorry you feel that way " haha trust me I am more sorry! They did nothing to put it right. Do not waste your money ! Clearly do not care .

Away for a family Christmas break and order a takeaway Nothing was anything like we had ever seen before Chicken satay with no sauce Chow main like you have never seen before what a joke this place is the chicken was slimy clearly not fresh I would say avoid avoid avoid But happy new you one and all

Would have been nice to try their food but will not deliver to a Hornsea address !!!!! They said they are busy with only one driver. Not my problem. Don't advertise delivery.

Average price, great food, and lots of it. Service was quick, reception staff were efficient and friendly. Will use again.

Visited the shop on 28th October. Ordered a takeaway and was told it would take about 15 minutes. Said I would call back for it but when I returned I was kept waiting and waiting and waiting..... After about 20 minutes I asked if my meal had been lost but was told there had been a mistake and someone alse had been given my meal. Until I asked I was not made aware there had been a delay and it still took another 15 minutes for my meal to arrive. My complaints to the manager were just met with 'we have been very busy!' Staff couldn't have cared less and the woman taking orders knew who I was but couldn't be bothered to tell me what was happening or give my replacement order any priority when they admitted the meal had been given to someone else. Can't comment on the food as I was too angry to eat it. Will try one of their nearby rivals next time.

Ordered takeaway by phone and could not find house but eventually delivered, good food, starters and main course, would go again whilst in Hornsea

Had food delivered to our lodge at Hornsea Lakeside Lodges.Food was delivered very quickly and was excwellent.

We were on holiday for a few days in Hornsea, we dont know the area so we took a chance on a take away from here.

Mixed hot starters, chicken and beef Szechwan , rice and noodles.. the mixed starters went straight in the bin, the main course, golden orange in colour followed it. simply inedible which is a shame as the service was prompt.

They have such a variety and all quite reasonably priced food always hot they do a delivery service which is very good must try

Comida fresca y excelentes platos. Buenas porciones de tamaño e incluso buñuelos de banana! Muy agradable después de un día ajetreado.

He usado este para llevar durante años y nunca he tenido una mala, daría clase 1. A veces cuando pides una entrega puede estar esperando hasta 45 minutos, pero vale la pena la espera que también dice que están ocupados en la tienda que lo dice todo.

Newbegin Takeaway is a great place for food on the go. I personally believe they have the best chips in Hornsea. They were absolutely perfect. The chicken curry has big slices of chick and vegetables. It's excellent. The staff are super friendly and service is great!

Ordered a meal tonight for delivery and quoted a 30 minute delivery time. After 1 hour still not arrived. This is the same for all delivery from takeaways in Hornsea. Things need to change. Customer service needs to improve

Had takeaway meals from here on several occasions but eventually decided that it was no longer value for money, the food is really very average and starchy. We really like chinese food but am afraid to say have given the Newbegin Takeaway one too many chances.

Nothing out of the ordinary, but a perfectly decent Chinese takeaway. Seems to offer delivery, which might be handy as some other takeaways in the town don't seem to.

When we are staying in the area we always make a point of visiting for a takeaway, the food is always tasty and hot and the staff always helpful, it seems like a very busy little place and popular and i can see why!

Fantastic take away tea here when staying in Horses recently. Super quick service (15 minutes!) made me wonder whether our food would be any good, but it was brilliant! Nice and soft beef and black bean, sweet and spicy sweet chilli chicken and a great tasting chicken fried rice dish for the kids. Well done, we'll be back I'm sure.

Stayed in Skipsea and asked the locals where the best Chinese was. This is only a 10minute drive and food was second to noneWould recommend

Ordered a large take away for a family group from New Begin. 21.7.16 the girl behind the counter said they don't do half a duck with pancakes so we ordered two quarters. When we got home it was just one quarter shared between two large containers with lots of salad. We phoned them and were told " our quarters are smaller than everywhere else it's just how it is" so there you go - Pay for two get one! DO NOT GO HERE - PLENTY OF OPTIONS FOR CHINESE IN HORNSEA IN FACT THERES ONE NEXT DOOR

Food ok had the rice dishes they where good but the beef and tomato not good the beef was like shoe leather the service was guick would go again

Delivered a very tasty takeaway while we stayed at the lakeside lodges. Lovely food and fast delivery!!! Very tasty chicken and mushroom!!!

Phoned to make a delivery to the lakeside lodges, didn't have a menu but they did what we wanted, said 20 minutes (which it was, if less) then they phoned as they were setting off so we could go to the gate very quick service, always apprehensive trying new places but it was delicious, hot and tasty and the chips were lovely. Would go to again if ever in Hornsea again. 5*

I visit regually to this takeaway while up in the area and rate it as the best takeaway chineese I will ever have. Complements to the chef don't change a thing Newbegin!!!!

Lovely takeaway. Always have a lovely meal from here, food is always good quality and delivered in a reasonable timeframe.

I have been coming to this takeaway for many years. The food is really lovely and the owners are pleasant and helpful. There is a large selection of meals to choose from and include English if you prefer that to Chinese. Two tips - firstly ensure you have enough money with you to pay for your takeaway as the owners no longer accept cheques and do not have a facility to pay by card, and secondly the place is only open in the evenings.

Holidaying nearby and so took a punt on this Chinese. Good selection of dishes, cooked quickly and tasted good. Don't take cards though so have cash ready!

Use Newbiggin takeaway quite a lot, loving Chinese food. Good delivery service. Good menu choice. I live in Hornsea but would recommend this to people visiting.

The duck was extra crispy as i asked for and the salt n pepper chicken was lovely so tasty will defo get it again ftom here xx

My wife and I tried this take away on a visit to Hornsea, we were both glad we tried it. The food was fresh, tasty and not all greasy. The Chicken fried rice is the nicest I have ever had, we will be visiting here again before we go home. Very reasonably priced for the quality.

Wasn't sure what it would be like as we don't know the area that well so thought would give it a try. Overall not bad at all, between us all we had satay chicken, sweet and sour chicken, chicken curry, beef in black bean sauce. Not the very best Chinese ive had but its decent enough that if im in Hornsea area again i would go back.

Staying over in Hornsea on a family holiday and decides to grab a take away for tea, reading the reviews of this place on trip advisor it didn't seem too bad.. These people obviously don't eat Chinese food very often..Everything we ate had been deep fried and was dripping in grease, a few pieces of chicken in a dish I had weren't cooked! Would NOT recommend eating here! Wish I'd have just had beans on toast now instead of feeling ill after that sweaty Chinese take away!

Had a takeaway from here food was ok a little expensive for the quality. Sweet and sour wasn't very good didn't get much fresh veg just lumps of raw onion. Quarter duck however was better. No free prawn crackers either!!!

There was plenty of choice on the menu which was excellent for someone that isn't a fan of Chinese. But by gosh the food was excellent and tasted amazing. We phoned before our arrival it was all ready on our arrival the lady on the counter made sure everything was correct before she even took my money. I can't recommend this place enough it was extremely well priced and portion sizes excellent, I would highly recommend this take out.

We had a takeaway from here when we stayed in Hornsea for the week. It was better than we expected. It only took a few minutes to cook but it was very enjoyable. Tasted nice and fresh. We would definitely return if we were in the area again. Staff were friendly too.

Visiting Hornsea for half term we tried this takeaway. Living near a large city I suppose we're quite spoiled with a glut of competitive takeaways and this one was fine! The menu is varied and the food arrived promptly. I was really happy to see salt and pepper chips on the menu - we've tried these in other places and they're delicious (the onions, peppers, chilies and spices you get with things like salt and pepper ribs etc - but covering chips), but when they came they were just ordinary chips with a bit of spice shaken over them and just one or two pieces of onion. They were nice chips and all but I would have loved them smothered in the stuff :) The pork in our roast pork szechuan was a bit fattier than we've had before and I wanted to get another sauce on the side for one of my meals but the only choices were curry, gravy and sweet and sour, but I was looking for a generic sauce like OK or oyster or something. Anyway I feel like I'm being picky now, onto more positives - I ordered the chicken in sweet chilli sauce and it was really nice. Quite spicy and thick sauce, very finely made. The ribs were brilliant but we only got four, if we'd known we'd have ordered more between us all. The prawn toast was nice and the chicken in cashew nuts was beautiful!! Would return.

Got to say I love this Chinese, never Disappointed with the consistent good quality food, would recommend mixed starter , salt & pepper crispy beef is my favourite & I love the roast pork curry & they do good value set menus, we've had a few chinese takeaways & restaurants in Hornsea over the past 20 years & this one is by far the best & has stood the test of time, can't wait for Newbegin to reopen from Chinese New Year so I can treat myself.

I love this takeaway it's mine and my husbands favorite take away in hornsea. Being going for years and never had a bad meal. Can never complain. I highly recommend.

we ordered takeaway from Newbegin on Friday night around 8pm, the wait for delivery was 1 1/2 hrs so we collected instead. The order we received wasn't correct and my husband reported that the kitchen was chaotic, they could probably use a few more staff in the busy summer months. However the food was hot and tasty, not a particularly varied menu but we enjoyed the food we had. would use again.

Monthly treat for the kids and never dissapoints. Salt and Pepper Ribs are to die for as are the Salt and Pepper King Prawns. The kids love the mixed starter but to be honest, all the dishes we've had are of a good standard and excellent value for money.

Had a couple of fab takeaways from Newbegin when on holiday in Hornsea. The ribs were particularly delicious, really meaty and well flavoured. Mixed curry was really nice too. We phoned our order ahead and everything was ready on-time.

Surprising that this take away has never been reviewed, being on the same site for some 40 years, and continually serving good quality food at realistic prices. We have been regular customers for many years and have never had a bad meal. It is possible to order in advance and collect, or they can deliver if requested. Long may Newbegin Takeaway continue.
