Fab food and amazing staff glad to live very local as its always fresh cooked chips

I have just had the best 2 pieces of sf chicken and chips I've ever had!! The southern fried coating was perfectly crisp without losing the tender, succulent melt in your mouth chicken. Just read a couple of bad reviews.... 2 of them to be exact, bodrul/cry cry. Clearly reading the way you write as being the same person. Let's right some many wrongs you claim. For which I thought was 4 generations of my family (which is actually 5 generations) have used this chippy as their 1st point of chippy takeaway. Station Road chippy has never once lost its ability to serve perfectly cooked food. Also every single owner new and old has been consistently delivering guaranteed satisfaction to a high standard, including a friendly atmosphere and attitude towards all its customers. Now let's start with the "food not fresh" I have seen delivery of fresh food daily at the same times, even when they run of they will go and collect fresh foods and produce daily. To put that comment to shame too.... my father used to deliver some of the fresh foods and produce daily. So I call utter B******T on that one there pal. Now on to delivery of foods. I personally have never once ordered or even have an account with uber due to a very well know fact, that honest people will tell you...... 70% of all orders that anyone has previously made to ANY takeaway have come short. 90% of all oders are luke warm, even cold. Word of advice, go and collect anywhere you eat from. Make the effort for the fresh food. Now let's get to bedders in small heath. Its known nationally as once of the best chip shops in the country. Even people that have not eaten there will know and say its the best. Station Road chippy has been here before I was born and will continue long after I'm gone for a reason. Your review would upset people that try as hard as they have to succeed in keeping this chippy, one of the best around. You should be be done for slanderous remarks to which you know little about. Are you sure your not getting mixed up with classics down the street? Sorry guys.... all in all outstanding food as always. Thank you your doing fantastic keep it up!!!

Absolutely amazing food I had never been here before but popped in on my way home. I’m Glad I did, the fish and chips were awesome curry sauce and my mushy peas were the best I’ve tasted in a long time and the scallops were just so good.😊 The food was that good I went back in 2 days and got a sausage and chips with a large curry this Time. Same again food was amazing and potion sizes were plentiful. The lovely lady that served me was very polite, friendly and served with a warm smile. Whole experience was awesome Thank you! It’s safe to say I will be making this my local chippy from now on.

I had an unbelievably bad experience at this fish and chip shop. I ordered what should have been a classic fish and chips, but instead, I got a meal that was barely edible. The fish was overcooked and dry, and the chips were soggy and tasted like they’d been sitting out all day. But the worst part wasn’t the food—it was the appalling customer service. When I politely mentioned the quality issue, hoping for a fresh batch or even just an apology, I was instead met with pure hostility. The staff called me a “chancer” and acted like I was trying to get something for free, which was offensive and completely uncalled for. Instead of showing any hint of professionalism, they seemed more interested in arguing than in actually helping their customers. If you want decent food and to be treated with basic respect, avoid this place at all costs. There are plenty of better fish and chip shops around that serve good food and actually care about their customers. This was a complete waste of time and money, and I won’t be back. If you check other reviews they state they will show CCTV but when I went to view it they lied and said they no longer have it.

Better off going to Bedders in small heath. I had a truly disappointing experience at this fish and chip shop. After receiving an order that was undercooked and far from fresh, I politely raised the issue, expecting some kind of apology or offer to make things right. Instead, I was met with shocking rudeness and accused of being a "dirty liar," which is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. It's one thing to make a mistake—everyone does—but to respond to a customer complaint with aggression and hostility is unacceptable. Not only was the food subpar, but the atmosphere and attitude were incredibly unwelcoming. If a business can’t handle constructive feedback without insulting its customers, it says a lot about how little they care about their quality and service. I’d recommend going elsewhere if you want good fish and chips and to be treated with respect as a customer. Very disappointed and won’t be returning as well as spreading the word about this establishment.

I'm staying at the hotel 2mins up the road and in the past week I've been back 3 times. Amazing fresh food and I assume the chap behind the counter is the owner, he makes the place before you've even tried the food. Hats off, best chippy I've had in a long while...... The sausage I got even made the dog blow bubbles he was that excited. Highly recommend

1st ever visit to this chip shop, working about 5min away and looking for dinner. After reading all the excellent reviews, I made my way there. First thing you notice when entering immaculately clean. Then cheerfully greeted by who I assumed was the owner, we chatted pleasantly, whilst I ordered large mix meat and chips (whilst looking at the other food which all looked good). I have to say the food was amazing good, as I said to the guy if it was good I would go back. Can't wait to try the fish when next in the area. Excellent chip shop and anybody saying otherwise, your not at the right place.

The cod is nice and chunky and battered perfectly. Chips are chips as long as there's extra salt and vinegar on them , no complaints here!

Absolutely Purr-fect Food bought today 26/7/24 . Family meal : Large Fish & Chips, 2 small mixed kebab meat salad &Chips Battered sausage and Chips & a small Fish & chips an absolutely amazing meal , all food cooked well & Chips tasted amazing as usual no cold or bad Chips in either of the meals Salad was fresh also with the kebab meal meals . An absolute fabulous & enjoyable meal 10/10 for customer service and 10/10 for the food 😀

I recently visited this fantastic fish and chip shop and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile and friendly service. Absolutely disgrace 4.80 for a Doner burger which had hardly any meat and what was on there was thin as paper then asked the manager is that the price for a burger with hardly any meat and his reply was that’s what it is…I would not recommend this to anyone.

PROPER CHIPPY Delicious food all round, presented with top notch customer service. Best chippy food I've had in a long time. Chips taste like they did when I was a kid, chunky, crispy and fluffy. Fish was fresh, tender flaky pieces of cod coated in a golden crispy batter. The scallops are sensational.... Big thick slabs of potatoe again coated in their crispy batter. I also had the donner wrap which was generously filled with delicious kebab meat that was freshly cut off the spit. Ignore that sim woman, she obviously trying it on, found her comments to be extremely rude and not how you review someone who you've been going to for years... Highly recommend this place.

Used to love this place but it’s really gone down hill, particularly considering the prices they now charge. Had sausage and chips from here two nights ago, it was like warm and 90% of the chips were black and green with bruises……. As I have been accused by this chip shop of using a generic Google image, here is the picture again but with the photo details (when taken etc) Also, I DID order sausage, if you’d read the review fully before being unprofessional and combative. I just want to add something else to this….changing your response to seem less combative is yet again unprofessional. I’m adding the screenshot from the email so people can see how you “value” your customers. As a family we have used your chippy for years, and I remember Chris fondly. Saying that, I wasn’t requesting any refund merely alerting you to the poor quality food, which as a paying customer I have the right to do without being called a liar. The customer service is poor, also. I’m shocked at the combative attitude, honestly.

Visited for the first time on Thursday evening, Despite living round the corner for years, Had used classic a couple of times but was never happy with food, don't have fast food as a rule.. Had a kebab burger with salad. It was delicious, non greasy and very fresh, was surprised and delighted, fast food will be on the menu more often now I've found the station, very impressed.

Probably the best fish and chips I've ever had. Theres a large menu and everything ive ordered has been delicious and good value for money. The staff are very friendly and the place is spotless. I have already recommended to family and friends.

To be honest, best chippy around and great quality. Just sometimes gets a bit busy to queue outside, but worth it if you do wait. Just to add, was the best chippy around, now fed up with pies with the pastry rock hard, kebab meat out of a warming tin that's like rubber, of the last 5 meals, only 1 been good, no more.

I always believe quality not quantity!!! I use Station Kebab Shop for over 4-5 years maybe more Generous portions with fresh salad.Also chips has golden syrup colour from Lyle`s :-)mean fresh oil in use. And this is very important about the food: Fresh and Test.this is the reason why I use Mario shop. Best donner kebab in Stechford Very generous portions, the salad is fresh, the chili sauce has a nice heat Chicken from Mario shop destroyed Nando-s :-) and soon kFC Archie :-) 5 star from Me All the best

Station Fish Bar, it's the bee's knees, mate. Been going there yonks, and it's all about the food. Proper tasty, never lets me down. But it's not just the grub; the staff, they're always welcoming and make you feel at home. And it's squeaky clean, which I appreciate. But yeah, it's the food, hands down, that keeps me coming back. 🍽️👍

This is a great place for food, I try and only have a cone of chips on the odd occasion as I try and eat healthy but am always left wanting more after eating here 😂 really good fast and friendly service, chips are always perfect and this is one of the best places to go to. I end up popping in after getting a train back so at least I can try and walk off my chips 😂👍🏼

Ok, so I’m from the north - just visiting, and fancying a fish ‘n’ chip supper. Got to admit, might have visibly shown some disappointment when it was confirmed that they didn’t actually do gravy?? 😱 Seems it’s all curry sauce in the midlands (confirmed by my daughter- who was with us, and lives local and thus the reason why l’m here.) Anyway, I just wanted to tell you, it was quite literally the best flamin fish ‘n’ chips I’ve ever tasted. Top class. And by the way, the place looked absolutely spotless! Definitely worth every penny. And the curry sauce was great too!! Who needs gravy anyway? 👍👍

Food is loverly as always may I suggest tho to cut cost down for both of us you have your own deliver driver rather than using uber an just eat who take 60 per cent. Moneys tight for everybody not just small businesses talking to your customers bad isnt going to entice them to come back.

Ordered from these on UberEats, was apprehensive due to the reviews but on both occasions I was not disappointed. The chips and fish were cooked fresh. Best fish and chips I've ever had. Yes it's expensive but you get what you pay for. My mum even commented on how the chips are the best she has ever had, reminded her of what chips originally were like. Will order them from again again when I want fish and chips. I'd rather pay more for quality and fresh food. I would love to know if the place serves halal as this isn't clear or if the fish is cooked separately to the meat.

What's Happened ??? This used to a excellent fish chip shop with wonderful staff. But the last 2 visits the food quality has dramatically dropped and the meals are awful cold chips and the fish was disgusting. 6 meals all ended up being thrown away. Reheating up the left overs by the look of the sausages and fish on display It's very sad as this used to be a first class chip shop. Sadly no longer The review is based on facts of my last 2 visits to the shop. It has nothing to do with the price increase personally I don't think you charge enough. Yes I did look in counters display as the member of staff didn't know what sausage I wanted. How ever brief it was. On the last 2 visits the meals what we received where not hot. Barely warm. And no I didn't have a bad day as you put it thankyou very much.

Best family run chippy in brum! I always come here when ever i pass through stechford. I've been to many top rated chippies and they dont come as close to this one. The fish is fresh, the consistency of the batter is spot on. it isnt greasy, Nice and crunchy and doesn't fall apart.. chips are also good. Staff are always polite and helpful. never had any problems. I don't know what gala axy is on about there, must not like being spoken to kindly.

Ordered from these a few times but starting to get fed up with their portions. They arent the cheapeat but when you place an order worth £22 for two people, you expect to both have enough food. Have a look at the bag of chips they charged me £3 for!!

I ordered fish and a tray of salad and I have to say the food was delicious. The fish was really tasty and the salad complemented it nicely. The service was great. Very friendly. And I didn't have to wait long for the food. Would definitely recommend. A well deserved 5 stars!

Traditional fish chips well recommended

If I could put 0 stars I would, I don’t recommend this chippy at all!!! Was utterly disgusting and the food took 2 hours to come and we didn’t touch any of it as it was vile. My daughter has had to take the day off college as she has been vomiting everywhere all morning, if I could upload the pictures of how disgusting and fatty the food was I would, I definitely wouldn’t even feed that food to my dog never mind my children. The shop shut at 8pm our order came at 8:30 so it was clear to me that we literally had scraps that they Chuck out the back for the rats to eat. I’m sharing my experience with everyone as I highly recommended nobody eats here.

Been there a few times now. All round excellent. Excellent service with a smile, excellent cod and chips. Really tasty. Bit of shame as they don’t serve Plaice fish anymore. First time I tried it, it was amazing, the 2nd time I went the owner said they don’t sell it anymore due to less demand !

Omg this place is absolutely amazing food was spot on staff were really friendly I decided to try this place after googling it i was sceptical at first however after tasting there fish all scepticism went out of the window will definitely be making this a Friday night thing good job guys keep it up

For the price it came like a small not a “medium”. The meat was flavourless and the curry sauce was a stretch to call it such. Hello flavour my tastebuds are calling. No such answer…… However staff are brilliant and efficient. I’m sorry to be so negative but flavour just wasn’t there. Fabulous establishment and wonderful service. Can’t fault the service, staff or place just lack of flavour on this occasion! 5 star service however and would recommend. Very hygienic I noted too. My old criticism is flavour was missing nothing personal it just was. Will return again and try Some Otherwise wonderful food! (have to state to prevent confusion I ate half my portion before photo they didn’t just serve this amount)

Always good food and friendly staff

Went to this chippy on the 26th May after not having a takeaway since March, the fish and chips were excellent, really white chunks of fish. We went today (3rd June), well what a difference a week makes. A right ropey piece of fish, I couldn't eat it. Consistency is what people want. Sorry it was BAD
