New Merlin Chinese Takeaway in Falkirk

A bit inconsistent - sometimes the food is great and sometimes not. We get a take away once every couple of weeks and we do like Kung po chicken, szechuan and salt and pepper chips. The service is usually friendly and efficient. (We pick up as the quality is never good when delivered- regardless of the place) However they appear to have a new member of staff who was rude to the point of being obnoxious. She need me sacking

Stayed at Haven Caravan camp at Seton Sands and we fancied a Chinese takeaway. Looked on line and chose this place. We were not disapointed arrived pretty quick and was piping hot and delicious

This is the worst place ever Chips were freezing cold Asked for fillet beef Cantonese style, came with no sauce. Prawns were freezing cold as just out freezer Staff very unhelpful too, just air stealers DO NO GO NEAR TOTAL WASTE OF £17 20 DO NOT GO NEAR DO NOT GO NEAR

They do some great dishes (chillie chicken) however my wife's chow main was not good. My friends love the honey chillie chicken and rave about it.

If we fancy a Chinese we usually come in here as it's our local. Staff have always been friendly, professional and welcoming. And the food is always top class.

We both eat out of here fairly regular and can honestly the two of us have had no complaints, it has an extensive menu from appetisers, soups,curries,and more, also set dinners, worth trying when in the area, also has friendly,helpful counter staff.

We get a take away from this fantastic restaurant at least once every fortnight. Fantastic menu, service and price every time. Delivery time is always outstanding and delivered with a smile. Thank you guys, excellent food every time.

Thought we’d try this for a Chinese munchie box, we were told that it was a big portion (enough for 2) and was £13. We waited nearly an hour for it and when it came , everything was barely lukewarm. For £13 , the portion was slim pickings (mostly was fried onions and peppers with little pieces of chicken sprinkled in). Thought about phoning to complain but after waiting until around 8pm to get it, wasn’t wanting to wait another hour for another one , the food should’ve been hot to start with. For nearly £20 total including delivery, I severely regret choosing this takeaway. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

Only recently moved to Falkirk and was glad to discover this great little takeaway, the service is quick and the food is always tasty my particular favourite being Singapore fried rice or possibly salt and pepper chips but the main thing is it’s consistently good so I would recommend it if you’ve got the nibbles.

used the merlin a lot on a saterday . when i fancied Chinese food my mum and dad like the food as well but the last few times the food was mediocre and was luke warm when it arrived when stated tonight put me right off tonight my mum phoned an order was told 30 mins max i went round and over a hour still no meal we phoned said it was on it's way 20mins later i called to cancel and to tell them to phone driver not to make the delivery . all i got was no probs not even an apology so i won't be back

chicken curry fried rice rice was stodgy as if it was reheated the ordered barbecued spare ribs full of fat not barbecue sauce

We have ordered from this Takeaway before - food good, hot and delivered on time. However, ordered last Friday at 1845. was told delivery would take 45 mins. No delivery by 2000h, called and was told it was on its way. Called again at 2015h, again was told food was on it's way. Called again at 2030h was once again told food was on it's way. Eventually food arrived at 2040h. The delivery person wasn't interested when I asked about delay. I normally give a tip but wasn't going to on this occasion due to delays. Not to be deterred, the delivery driver went to walk away without even offering me my change, which I duly pointed out and took my change. To add insult to injury, the food was cold and chips were inedible - what a waste of money. I realise that Friday's are busy but leaving this aside I was not happy by the delay and as such will never use this Takewaway again. My advice New Merlin - be honest about delivery times to avoid losing custom and gaining bad reviews.

We use the New Merlin regularly, the food is always fresh, tasty and quickly prepared, exactly what you want from a takeaway! The tea time specials are great value - fantastic!

Used this place over the years so decided when I wanted a carry out recently would use it again. always choose the same food from what ever Chinese carry out place I am using, this was by far the poorest tasteing carry out I have had in a while. Chicken sweetcorn soup, crispy chilli chicken and fried rice. Soup had no taste to it at all, chilli chicken again lacked any taste eventually found some chilli but it was all very poor. Sorry to say wont use the new Merlin again.

Fast, efficient, great food and great portion size. The best Chinese in falkirk. Have used again and again.

Never had a problem with this takeaway. Food always good and staff are lovely. Don't understand previous review if you pick up a takeaway how can staff be unhelpful, abrupt or rude???? Pick up your food, pay and leave, its that simple. Never had this experience and I've been going since diamond took over. Sounds like a grudge!

La comida siempre ha sido decente (realmente no es genial, está muy bien) pero el servicio suele ser bastante pobre. A menudo brusco, rayando la mala educación en la comida, y mal humor y poco servicial cuando vas a recoger comida. No hay necesidad de ese tipo de comportamiento tan preferiría mi negocio a otro lado.

The food served at the New Merlin, was amazing. It tasted really fresh and full of flavour. I am so glad I decided to try somewhere new.

Ive not had many options from their menu however I have eaten authenic Thai and Chinese before, their Thai options are fantastic especially if kept till the next day. Their soups are also good and Yellowbean.

Always had really tasty food out of here. Tried several things from the menu and all very good. Would highly recommend it

The only Chinese I have been to in Falkirk and I must say I would recommended it . I love the food .

I've been to the new merlin a couple times and I don't know why it bloody stinks , should shut up shop , Disgrace of a place won't be back , stomach is turning thinking about it

I was in Scotland from the United States taking care of my ill mother who was born here and lives in Falkirk. I ordered from New Merlin several times over the course of the month. The food arrived quickly, was very hot and very good. I only ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken in the batter with boiled rice, but it was amazing. From someone who has had the best Chinese Food in the US , including New York, this is very nice. Enjoy!

We've been using the New Merlin for a few months now and never been disappointed. We used to use the New Diamond down the town but when we found out the New Merlin had the same owners we decided to give it a try as it's closer. Food and service has always been first class. I'm surprised at the negative reviews. We had people over last night and they weren't sure about New Merlin after seeing these reviews. We had Chicken noodle soup, barbecued spare ribs, mini spring rolls, chicken curry, chicken in black bean sauce. Everyone said it was excellent.

Had been a regular customer as the food was and service was always good and was interested to see what effect the makeover would be like. Have tried it a few times since and have been generally disappointed with the meal. It wasn't inedible or awful but was what we had come to expect. Ordering the same thing on different days means that the same dish tastes and looks different. The prices increased but as they had been the same for along time that wasn't an issue. The location was convenient but we are looking elsewhere now.Service has been good, friendly and quick but you should be going to a restaurant because of the food.

Curry sauce has the strangest taste. All salt and pepper dishes were black in colour as if deep fried in dirty oil. Wont be back.

I bought Kung Po chicken tonight as a treat. I added chips as an extra.The chips were an enormous portion and very blandThe Kung Po was disgusting. The sauce was watery and without flavour or spice. The chicken was soggy balls of something and the veg was a few bits of green pepper and a few water chestnut slices.I went back and complained and was only offered an apology!My food is in the recycling bin and my promise of a tasty evening meal with it.I will never use this carry out again.

I have been using New Merlin since the owners changed and I have to say that they are absolutely fantastic... from the good food and the friendly staff I cannot fault this place one bit :)

The only thing that was good was the rice. Dry tough overcooked chicken, pale fatty beef, soft chewy chips. Worst chinese ive ever had.
