New Happy Garden in Uttlesford

Happy Garden? It should be called Unhappy Garden. Decided to give this place another chance after my first order, despite pineapple being added to my King Prawn in Satay Sauce dish, purely because it’s so difficult to find somewhere that will deliver to Thaxted. I wish I hadn’t bothered. After a 1hr 40 min wait, the food arrived cold and the Chicken Kung Pao contained no veg and no peanuts? So not a Kung Pao, sort of just whatever they could be bothered to serve me with. I’m pretty sure you have to be intentional to make food this bad, so shan’t be ordering again and I would advise everybody else to save themselves the trouble.

Absolutely gorgeous. The gentleman on the phone handling my delivery was amazing. Food was hot and tasted great. Definitely ordering again. Thank you New Happy Garden. You made my day off even better with an amazing Chinese meal.

Ordered from here last night. Thought I'd give it a go from all the recommendations but honestly was very disappointed. I checked order on collection and everything was right what I ordered but definitely wasn't what was in the some of the boxes. The only nice thing was the ribs and special chow mein. The rest wasn't very nice. I definitely won't be returning or recommending. It's actually put me off Chinese food if I'm honest. Was a few of us eating it and we all said the same.

This is my favourite Chinese in dunmow now trying all of them. But!!! Please if your reading this you need to revisit your satay sauce recipe it tastes awful and nothing like satay sauce. I usually have to get the satay sauce from a different Chinese as I prefer there's. Everything else is spot on. I always order it just incase you have changed the recipe but at the moment it still goes straight in the bin.

Lovely Chinese, friendly staff, food is always really hot even delivering to Thaxted. Always accept my ridiculous menu alterations too! Best Chinese around x edit…. We no longer use them as their hygiene rating is so low now and find lams in stansted 1000x better!

New to dunmow and wanted a nice Chinese, people had recommended here but won't be ordering again. Chicken had a very funny taste to it, like fish, was very strange, also was a bit grey. I'm not a fan.

Awful people awful owners awful staff. Very rude. Have got my order wrong eight times!!!!! I’m done. And the rude blonde girl on the counter yelled at me when she got my order wrong. And the chefs claimed it’s my fault and then got my order wrong again. Absolutely ridiculous

Food good, but like others below have said front of house staff rude - Blonde boy standing at front desk reading a paper I approached and I was told no I don't work here so he called a blonde haired girl, She shouted at her little boy infront of customers, there was no "hi" "thanks" or "bye!" or anything just told how much it was , really awkward.Also note on door asking customers to wear masks but none of the 3 people on reception had masks?

I really like these guys. Foods good, not expensive and the service is always prompt and friendly. They deliver but I prefer to drive over.

Food really nice, but my, could it please much hotter than lukewarm, after waiting over an hour and 15 minutes for my food to be cooked

AVOID! Something was missing from our delivery (25min late arrival). Telephoned straight away to enquire, in the hope the item was still near by & could be dropped off or maybe a little extra on our next order (regular customers) or even a good old ‘sorry about that’ would have done! But no, I was instantly shut down & told the driver had just arrived back & said he ‘delivered all our items’, and they would not be driving out (under 5mins) to deliver the missing item! Could also hear muffled laughing in the back ground. Wish i’d never tipped the untrustworthy delivery boy now... Handled so very badly & unprofessionally by these guys. Not a happy customer!

Awful - we ordered 4 main dishes, two rice and two starters. We did not receive 1 rice dish and neither of the starters. The chef told me he did not have time to make these for us and returned the money. Upon opening the dishes we did receive, the duck dish was chicken and the chicken dish was pork. I called the restaurant, they refused to believe the dishes were incorrect and hung up the phone. I heard the call taker laugh to the Chef telling him what had happened, unprofessional. If you want a Chinese, go somewhere else.

Awful chinese rice was like rubber. Chicken satay was hard and chewy, seaweed soggy and very over priced for what you get. will not use again

Food ok but not worth the wait delivery is unbelievable delivery lady rude and couldn’t give a dam always a long wait at busy times if told honestly not a problem but always longer than told customer service could be more helpful as told 1hr 20 not a problem but is when it arrives 2hr 20 later it is Won’t be using anymore

Having called to order a delivery, I was told it would be an hour and a half due to the weather!! There’s not a drop of rain! So I said I would collect and was told it would be ready in half an hour. I then proceeded to wait for an hour and 10 minutes for the most disgusting Chinese meal I’ve ever had the misfortune to attempt to eat and in fact have to wait for. Avoid!

Just had a takeaway delivered. Delicious! We have had several takeaways now and have never been disappointed. Well done and thank you, especially to the lovely young lady who drops it off!

I've lived in South East Asia for 18 years and I can tell you that it's not authentic in the slightest. Everything is drowning in sugary sauce and nothing has the flavor that it should.

Had our first takeaway last night. Food was very good had 7 main meals. We all commented how nice the food was..would recommended..

Absolutely terrible service. Called and placed a order for delivery to receive a phone call nearly a hour after this to tell me as I live 9.35 miles away they won’t deliver as it’s to far and the food will go cold! This hasn’t stopped them every other time they’ve delivered and there has never been a problem. Also not happy to basically be called a liar when they said that had tried to call me from half an hour after my order to tell me they couldn’t deliver apparently would ring once and then go to busy tone- I don’t use my landline!

I really love the food here, everything is so tasty and the staff are friendly. My favourite thing to order is won ton soup, it's nice and refreshing.

Have used happy gardens for 16 years. This was the worst service we have ever had . What ever is going on please sort it out . As have lost a long service customer. Delivery driver was rude and would not give change. Not a small amount .. £ 17.00 change needed. Then phone call was very poor . In this time and age you should do better .

Love the food! I just hope they would accept card in the future, or website to order...

Doesn't take card and the order was ready in under 3 minutes so I doubt it was freshly cooked! Chicken batter was soggy. Wish I'd gone elsewhere.
