This is a great little place. Don't let the look of it put you off if you like chinese food. The food was tasty and hot and arrived quickly. Would definitely go again

Went last nite with couple of friends had pancake roll starters and soup ordered 2 mixed grills when they arrived they were covered in gravy just could not eat them if I wanted gravy on top I would have asked for it

went in for a meal, looks really outdated could do with a make over, the guy serving really didn't want to be there, always on his phone and we was the only people in. Ordered a set menu, chicken noodle soup had no taste at all had to add soy and salt to add flavour, the rest of the food was OK but we sure did pay for it for the next 3 days constantly on the toilet. Really disappointed & wouldn't reccomend.

My girlfriend and I visited last night and have already planned our next visit! The food came out piping hot and was absolutely delicious. The service was great and complementary prawn crackers were a lovely touch. Highly recommend for a cheap, flavourful meal.

Ordered a takeaway. We arrived 30 minutes later than booked due to a late theatre, and they stayed oped for us..the salt and pepper squid was so tasty and the Malaysian chicken curry was also very good with lots of chicken and a rice dish. I would drive to Hull again just for the squid! Thank you.

Got this as a delivery and can honestly say its the best Chinese I've had in Hull in the 2 years I've been here, the rice and chicken was cooked perfectly, the chow mein wasn’t gloopy like other places and the batter on the chicken balls was beautiful

Superb. My parents attend every year for their Anniversary. This year was their 50th Wedding Anniversary and unfortunately due to ill health couldnt attend. The staff made every effort to make their day special going above and beyond to deliver to them the most special meal. Thank You New Garden. The food was exceptional.

This is the worst Chinese restaurant I have ever been too . The food is totally disgusting. The restaurant is disgusting and you have to wipe your feet when you leave. I would NEVER recommend this restaurant ever. I truly believe it should be reported to the council and it should be shut down. Disgusting. I would rather starve as opposed to eating here ever again

I made a telephone order to collect 20 minutes later. Unfortunately I hadn't anticipated the rugby match that was on that day which had just finished and therefore caused so much traffic. I walked into the Chinese and waited at the counter. A young male came out and said "hi. You're late......... is the traffic busy?" How dare you greet me this way! A normal 10 minute journey took me an hour. I'm disgusted with the customer service. I was fully aware the food would be luke warm by this point - this, I didnt mind and wouldn't be complaining about the temperature as it was out of everyone's control, I will however say that the chow mein was incredibly greasy. I decided to try you guys out on recommendation from a friend - I won't be returning after this.

Plated the food up, only to find pink chicken inside the fried rice, the lemon chicken was slimey and to top it off we got a nice side of hair in the middle of the noodles and lemon chicken. Called, the guy seemed surprised didn’t offer a refund but offered to send more lemon chicken and fried rice, within 5 minutes i rang back to state I wanted the refund not more food, £42 pound was wasted tonight, the only decent thing was the salt n pepper chips, I managed to get a £20 refund from just eat however as the other items had nothing visibly wrong for picture evidence, I couldn’t get a whole refund. £22 pound for salt n pepper chips. We had to order a second round of food elsewhere as we were starving, don’t waste your money.

Food very good large portions would recommend.

This restaurant is old but delivers great food all the time loads of choice. Service great. Went with a group of friends all enjoyed.

The best Chinese restaurant to eat cheap and tasty.

Was a regular during the 90s was a bit let down going back but food was excellent

Found a massive black hair embedded inside the giant spring roll. Also found another hair in the chow mein/gravy, unsure which as it got combined at home. Chow mein wasn't what I'm used to in a Chinese chow mein, it was very thin noodles and very little of it. Sauce that came with starter was odd but not unpleasant. The best part of the food was the crispy seaweed. Unfortunately I won't be ordering from here again as the hair in the food has put me off.

I have ordered food from here before but never been in to eat. Anyway I have now been and the food is still as good inside as having it delivered can't really fault them on that. However there really isn't any atmosphere in there a little light Chinese music playing people popping in to collect the food orders which is standard for most places and the delivery drivers collecting there deliveries which is a lot hench the food been good This place have been here for ever but now dated and looks just like a takeaway from the outside and a little dated inside too I would say. There was people eating when we arrived but by 8.15pm there was only me and my wife left, there where tables on a back wall stacked cleaning stuff left out and boxes with a hoover on the floor. If the other tables where put out would certainly look much better and must get the lights sorted very dark inside as most spot lights where off. But regardless of the looks or atmosphere again it's about the food for me and was really nice so would recommend them if you fancy a takeaway.

Expected a chinese chicken chow mien not a Thai version..wasn't the best

It's always been top notch from there, until tonight, the chicken balls so thich in batter ans were flat, not balls, shame its always been good there.

To be honest the guy was friendly however I think it's a rip off that they sell a double of gin and the mixer separately. I asked for a double gin with lemonade and veggie spring rolls (3 in them) for £9.40 when a pub charges roughly £4 double gin and lemonade. Absolute joke as before hand I ordered food and it didn't even come to 9.40 and I got more items. Won't be getting a drink from there again. I am very unsatisfied

Good service, very basic surroundings

I slated this place a year ago...now I wish I hadn't Seems new people have taken over and the quality of food has gone Ordered Special Fried rice and portion chips... Chips were very dry Special Fried rice was indeed Special....rice was overcooked,dry and sticking together in clumps,had 3 prawns and half dozen pieces of what I'm guessing was chicken (😧😧) and yet according to menu it had beef,pork,chicken and prawn. Very sad for this restaurant,was amazing before lockdown

Chicken satay was delicious, however the Duck chow mein was very fatty and chewy. The Hong Kong sweet n sour, although tastey, the meat was like leather, very dry. Obviously warmed up repeatedly.

What a gorgeous meal. Special fried rice with curry sauce, and beef chow mein, absolutely delicious, will def be our number 1 for home delivery from now on.

Chicken and sweetcorn soup was awful absolutely but the chow mein was nice. Staff were brilliant in dealing with the I.cident that occurred. Definitely use again

Recommended by a Hull taxi driver on visit from London 10 years ago. Yearly visit and never fails to please. This time front of house recommendation of Kung Po chicken with some extra spice. Perfect. Basic restaurant, great food, extraordinary value.

Great food and great staff make you feel welcome

Called with family. 5 tables regimented for Covid with home made plastic seperators. One girl running around seemingly doing everything. Had to ask for drinks. Order taken at 90mph. No welcome. Food virtually thrown at us. Cold plates. (Food was hot) No check back to ask if everything was ok. Food cleared away, nobody asked if we wanted more drinks / desserts. Bill asked for and delivered / paid and we left. Really unprofessional and poor service by one poor obviously overworked girl with an obvious priority on takeaways. Toilets were also pretty grubby. Friday night 9.00. Only us in ! Really suggest these people close the restaurant and just run a takeaway. Sad thing is....The food was really good ! Portions large and reasonable prices. This place 'could' be great. Must try harder though.

The food is amazing and the staff are so friendly. The outside of the restaurant looks dull and not very appealing but don't let that stop you as you will not be disappointed if you fine here. They are licenced so you can have alcohol with your meal

Just had a delivery via Just Eat, THE Best Beef with Tomatoes I have EVER eaten , will deffo be ordering this dish again.

After bringing takeaway home, they was no curry sauce in my chicken curry, fried rice box. After telephoning them, I got 2 people knocking at my door. Who REFUSED to take away the meal I was complaining about, and arrived with a tub of curry sauce. What good is a tub of curry sauce when you refuse to take the uneaten food away. AT ALL Costs AVOID!!!! YOU DO NOT GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!! THEN HAVE RUDE STAFF AT DOOR REFUSING TO TAKE THE MEAL IN QUESTION BECAUSE I HAS EATEN IT!! HOW HAVE EATEN IT WHEN I'M TRYING TO HAND IT BACK? This restaurant/takeaway has always been the best for the last 20 years I've used the place. So shocked at the awful, terrible customer service.

I ordered our food on Just Eats site and was told that the food would arrive around 7pm. My husband constantly looked out the front window at 7pm for the food to arrive. At 7.40pm I tried to ring but could not get through. At 8pm I found another contact number for the restaurant and got through to a woman who passed the phone to another women. I explained that we were waiting for our take away to be told it had been left on our doorstep because we did not answer the door when they knocked. We were waiting eagerly for our meal and did not see anyone come to our front door, we didn’t hear anyone knock, we have a loud doorbell which no one rang, you can clearly see that the television is on if you look in our front window from the doorstep and no one knocked on the front room window. The food was cold, we heated it up in the microwave but it was not good to eat. So upsetting because we were hungry, such a waste of money! I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Always good food for not a lot of money

lovely food, basic decor, but clean and the service was efficient. Hasnot lost any of the great taste that will always draw me back. Not many chinese restaurants left in hull but this is definitely one of the best.

I cannot praise this place enough, I have been here a few times when I been in Hull, and never had a bad meal. The takeaway side seems to be booming as well, I had complimentary prawn crackers, scallops in black bean sauce, a good sized portion and Singapore noodles, a couple of beers and a decent glass of house white to finish, very enjoyable and will visit again when next in Hull.

Lovely food had beef fillet seek with black pepper sauce and chips with satay sticks for starters and an ice-cream dessert. It was gorgeous. Everybody else thoroughly enjoyed their food as well.

Food was nice. The only think wrong I could find was the men toilet could do with a good make over

This place will not win any awards for interior design, but the food here is extremely good, I have just enjoyed a delicious king prawn starter and and. Spicy chicken and cashew with noodles a few drinks and change from £25.00 The owners daughter who runs from of house is very friendly and the take way business seems to be booming, great value for money that’s for sure.

I've used this as a takeaway for many years but they have started giving very short measures of food. Today foil tray was less than half full. 10% discount between 5 and 6pm bit tried to charge me full price then give me 50% less food. Won't be using them any more.

As some of my readers know, I am an advocate of good honest food run by small independents, this small family run place is 2 minutes from the station and fairly central. The food and portion are all a good size and cooked to order, I enjoyed chicken satay and salt and pepper squid, the squid especially delicious and melt in the mouth, for main I went for Singapore noodles, extra spicy, very tasty. The owners daughter who runs front of house is very helpful and always busy dealing with the takeaway orders which seemed like every 5 minutes. A few drinks from the sensibly priced menu and a lovely meal for just under £27 was great value.

We walked past, looking for an Indian, it wasn't inviting. We couldn't find the Indian, so came back. Looked at the menu, it seemed OK but I was reluctant to go in as it just wasn't drawing me in. But the wife fancied Chinese so I was dragged in. We tripped the number of customers. Prices were very good so we ordered and had a bottle of reasonably priced wine. The starter, prawn toasts was a bit lacking in prawn, but nice. The wine was far better than its price tag, but the main course was absolutely fantastic. It filled p as we ate and clearly popular with takeaways. I'd definitely go again.

Friendly but slow service. Took about an hour to bring fried rice with prawn, however, the other foods were gradually rolled out as they were ready. The food quality was good though.
