New City Takeway in Telford and Wrekin

Our normal Chinese has gone down hill so we tried The New City Takeaway and it was very very good 👍 10 out of 10 and we'd highly recommend having a meal from here.

Such lovely people, and pretty delicious food. The curry sauce aftertaste seems to linger forever, but apart from that it’s all good. Decent chips too, which I think is the measure of a good Chinese - if they get the chips right, everything else is great too!

Usually very good - and the chow mein and chicken and rice dish was still good this time however the chicken balls were disgusting, not fresh, hardly any chicken and huge spongy dough on the outside inedible!

Great food and friendly staff. Update: It's still the best Chinese in the area, yep still the best.

6/10 I ordered 3 in 1 tray curry and King prawn curry. Reasons why it wasn't a 10/10 1) Too much salt - I had to drink a lot of water afterwards 2) Not enough chips - There was more rice in the box than chips 3) A few prawns - There was less prawns in the curry 4) Could've been hot - the food was just warm enough to enjoy

Its a shame still not got the chips right very dry over cooked like last time about 6 months ago thats why we have not been back for a long time but we thought we woulld try again even i went to the shop to order it and said to the lady about the chips from ladt time they still was the same ? Will have to find a new Chinese shame we have been using that place years 😞

Lovely friendly place that serves great food! Always get greeted with a smile when I walk in and food tastes amazing as always. This is one of my favourite takeaways in Wellington, highly recommend 😊. Will keep coming back for more!

Been using here for years had one Christmas eve ribs had loads of meat and fell off the bone and chow main and curry was lovely also looking forward to the next one.

Best takeaway EVER! Highly recommend, as clearly half of Telford do too, given how busy they are. But don't let their queues put you off, as they're super efficient and the little wait so is worth the delicious food! Go try them today, you won't regret it!

Fantastic food, very fresh & tasty, highly reccomend!

Been ordering from here for a while and was good but recently has been going downhill. Ordered the duck, fried rice and curry sauce, and salt and chilli chips. Duck was dry and taste like plastic, Not enough curry sauce, they never put enough curry sauce on anything so I don’t see the point of charging for it. Also not enough chips in the portion when they’re starting to charge more, not worth it.

Food generally bland and tasteless

We had food from here and wow it was so tasty and really hot could not fault it at all, would highly recommend this place you won't be disappointed

My regular Chinese which I’ve used for years was closed for a week so I rang New City instead after reading good reviews on Google. The food is amazing, staff were lovely, food was delivered within half hour of ordering even though it was a Friday night and food was red hot. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was the cost - they’re slightly more expensive than the other Chinese I’ve used but that’s me just being picky. I’ll definitely use New City from now on.

The battered chicken balls with sauce are very tasty and crispy. Very filling and takes a few bites to have one. Also chips are soft and thick which make you full fast.

Loved their for a long time food. But this evening wasn’t the best. Ordered deep fried beef shredded with vegetables oyster sauce. The vegetables was delicious but the deep fried shredded beef tasted not right. When it arrived all the beef were struck together in the container and wasn't pipping hot. I had physically break them apart. Beef tasted like it was off, and cold, had to warm it up in microwave, still didn’t taste better. Phoned New City to let them know, the person on the phone didn't even apology, and started arguing with me saying it was cooked, doesn’t understand because no one never complained before shredded chicken and beef were most popular etc I asked why was all the shredded beef all struck together, if it was cooked it would be all loose around the container, and was it cold like it must have been taken from freezer they denied it saying it wasn't from the freezer cant do anything about my order. I was hoping for an apology when I called them and a replacement and not a refund, but the caller started arguing with me at the beginning. Disappointed, £25 gone down the drain, will never order from them again there was no need for the attitude. I told them this. Then the caller said can send me a replacement , I said forget it. They said will put credit on my next order. I said I’m not coming back or ordering again . Very disappointed

As has been mentioned before, this has to be the bestm Chinese takeaway in Telford, and it could be in Shropshire ! Service is always attentive, friendly and prompt, and the food is always a delight

As a repeat customer od New City, i can't praise them highly enough- consistently good , hot, tasty Chinese food- always of great quality. Service is fantastic too.

After a long shift at the vaccination hub the smell of this takeaway tempted us to order. The service was friendly and the food wasn’t too long in arriving. However it was quite disappointing. The egg fried rice was uniformly brown, definitely fried but with no discernible egg. The meat dishes were bland without the flavour of garlic, ginger or Chinese spices. Everything seemed over cooked. The meats (chicken and beef)were without texture. I like my stir fried peppers and water chestnuts to be a bit crunchy not soft. In my opinion you can get better flavour and quality with a Chinese meal deal from the supermarket. I’m local and won’t be going again.

The chicken was like chewing a rubber ball along with pretty much half of a onion in my curry! Chips were far to salty! On the plus side the curry had a good taste to it but other than that i wouldn't eat there again.

Have recently had a few take aways from new city each one has been lovely, even when you ask for something not as standard on the menu it's great, would recommend ;)

Usually the food is good from here, but last week i had a duck curry and when i started eating it, there was barely any duck in it, most of it was small pieces and duck skin, disappointing.

Always have a takeaway from.here lovely food polite staff on phone would not go any where else.

I'm sorry,first time ordering from here and never again. Food was ok, but when u have kids u don't expect brown fries rice. Healthy option or not, u should be given the option as my kids looked forward to a treat all day to be served brown rice. Curry sauce was like water also. Ribs were very nice . Would order again if had the option

Been going to these for 8 years... Superb Food and Large selection on the menu too. Great Prices compared to the local competition! 5 Star Hygiene Rating. Order In House, Pre-Order by the Phone or Home Delivery for an extra £1. The only negative is this place can be rammed Friday/Saturday 4-8pm due to the sheer popularity, however we just pre-order on the phone and pick up when they say to come and get it. Brilliant customer experience!

This chinese takeaway is the best. We have never had a bad meal from here, in fact the food has always been delicious. Everytime we have ordered with family and friends they have commented on this being the best chinese takeaway they have had. Owners are very friendly and accommodating with special requests.

Can be busy between 6pm and 8pm. Friendly and efficient staff. Fair prices, food excellent. Delivery service. Portions tend to be on large size.Update, 23/12/18. Had Pork in garlic sauce, very ill after. AVOID pork dishes from here. Sauce had not been cooked /seperated. Second bad meal from here in 6 months. BUT, chips best in town.

First time to eat from here and it was great tasting food I had beef curry with chips. I enjoyed the flavour of everything so I will go here again. I phoned and placed the order before I left home as they were very busy which is a good sign looking forward to the weekend for my next choice

We were staying at the nearby travelodge and picked this as a local Chinese takeaway. The two meals we chose were plentiful and tasty. One must have lost a bit in translation and was slightly different to what we expected but too much effort to go back to resolve. No complaints about the food itself though.

Hadn’t found a nice Chinese we’ve enjoyed like that for a while with nice meat enough of it and sauce and meat that tastes like meat not like some we’ve had previously that were like fat. It’s worth ordering when you get a meal you actually enjoyed instead of being a waste of money.They have got it all right here will definitely be ordering from them in the future and be recommending to others
