I have been going to this Chinese restaurant since the 1980s! Going there for Chicken Chow mein for my birthday was the a revolation! I realised they made the greatest Chicken Chow mein on the planet! I have brought friends here from Hong Kong to New City Restaurants, that agreed their food was very nice. I was going to go to this restaurant this Saturday and here was a prerecorded message that they have closed for the foreseeable future. It's so sad to lose such a wonderful family business like New City. Besides the friendly atmosphere the food was absolutely delicious! Basic Hong Kong style Chinese cooking. Being a family business there can be multiple reasons why the restaurant closed for now. A family death, financial difficulties in an energy crisis causing massive inflation. The list is long for the many family businesses that have closed since COVID. I hope they can reopen soon and I wish them every success and prosperity in the future!

Great value for money if you miss Asian / HK / Singapore food. Food is delicious, portions are generous and pricing is gentle on the wallet. (Wish they would update the decor, tho, and do something about the facade)

Have been coming here since I was very very little. The owners are completely LOVELY and know us very well. The food is completely AMAZING and at a very good price. I will be going here for as long as I can. I would highly recommend it to everyone!! Thank you so much New City and see you soon!!

Ok, not the most attractive restaurant and a bit dated, but certainly worth it in all other areas. Food is very tasty and large portions. Staff very friendly and prices very competitive.

In LOVE with the staff! The family running the restaurant was so nice to us and helped us to order what we wanted! The food was amaizing and very quick to come out! Big portions by the way, so make sure that you go in very hungry.

My favourite place! The food is authentic and delicious and really reasonably priced. The service is impeccable...so friendly and welcoming. This restaurant is becoming more and more popular as locals realise what a gem is in their area.

Amazing place . Food was so good and the customer service is top knotch . The lady as us what we were celebrating as it was my husband's birthday. After asking for the bill , they surprised us a ice cream to celebrate him and everyone in the restaurant sang along . It was such a great surprise. Will definitely be back.

An absolute hidden gem! Battersea is becoming super fancy & therefore pricey around the power station nowadays, understandably. But this is a fab family run restaurant that has been here for years. Excellent for a cheap bite or a banquet. Give it a go to ensure it stays around for many more years!

Staff are very friendly and pleasant. Went for a meal on a friend's birthday and staff surprised us with a birthday song and some ice cream with lighted candles. Very impressive

Great top notch food but dont take your coat off as its freezing ! Not the place to impress someone on a first date. Interior is basic and canteen like. However, if the quality of the food is all youre interested in go ahead as it great but remember to wear your thermals !

Undoubtably one of the best restaurants in London. The food is unbelievably good and the staff are exceptionally kind, fast and always smiling. A gem of a place.

Can’t believe this place has been around already for 35 years it is almost a Chinese institution in battersea. The decor is really outdated but in somehow gives it a bit of nostalgia charm at the same time. The food here is good and prices are cheap and the lady’s here are fast and friendly.

Great singapore fried rice which chef was kind enough to make with chicken and prawns, instead of pork. Lovely chilli oil too!

Basic set up but good value food. Don't expect Michelin star cuisine just nice food, large portions at fair prices. Oh the staff were friendly too!

Easy to pass by, as it's on the edge of a council estate and looks a bit run down. But the food is superb - huge portions of freshly cooked food at very reasonable prices. Indeed, the first time I came I tried to order two dishes, and the lovely lady told me that it would probably be too much to eat, and maybe have one dish first, then order another if I was still hungry. How right she was!!! I don't know of anywhere else in London where they actually discourage you from over ordering. It's also worth noting that there are often a few Chinese people eating here - always a good sign in my book. In short, ignore the tired decor and give it a go. You won't be disappointed.

By far the best chinese food ive had in London... Might be better but i havent had it yet... Food is amazing the service whether eating in or take away is great they are polite helpful and try to make you feel welcome... Id recommend here to anyone and im in there now waiting on my take away... Great place...

The service is what makes this place so special. All the staff are just so wonderful. The food is also top tier and very well priced. This, in my humble opinion, is the best Chinese restaurant in London. And yes, I know London is a big place, but New City sits at the top of the tree.

Rubbish food go to China 🇨🇳 town even from there you some disgusting food it means new city are selling garbish food 😋 😀 because those people from the estate don't really know what is about Chinese food 😉 😜 next time I will go to China town and the one in battersea 😤😤😤😤😭😭I did try to order seafood fried noodles the only you can eat from but they did ask me for 25 pounds but on their menu it over 18 pounds for food delivery

Good and cheap, no frills with accomodating staff. Would give 5 stars but sadly they seem to use the same sauces for several dishes. Kung Pao chicken has a sort of a bland sweet and sour sauce (not what most places do for Kung Po, but hey at least they had peanuts, which strange enough in London most places use cashews?!!?) So next time I went for Szechuan Chicken thinking it will have spicy red peppers and taste different. Turned out to be pretty much same Kung Pao sauce without the nuts and had NO red Szechuan peppers. The lovely hostess swapped it for a Spicy Garlic Chicken in brown sauce, but alas it was mediocre. Great Hot & Sour soup though! Will try one more time, perhaps a beef or prawn dish. 3rd times a charm right? ;)

I ordered a meal through Ubereats from this restaurant. After 30 minutes, they cancelled the order and selected an option that claimed *I* cancelled, meaning I was charged. An absolute disgrace. Avoid this restaurant.

Like many people I’ve been going for years . Recently though the customer service has got worse and orders wrong. Food is great but when Informed them my rice was wrong , I was told there are busy and will try and be more careful in the future. Didn’t seemed fused as we are long term customers. Hope this improves. Would like to give 3 and have stars to be honest

Delivering to my address regularly on a weekly basis for ages and now suddenly they say my address is out of their zone so they wont deliver?? Rubbish

Great Chinese food, great value for money. We were a party of 5, 3 adults 2 kids, looking for late night eats after a full day of being tourist in London. Read great reviews about new city and as it was close to where we were staying we went in and were so happy with the service, quality of food. We had noodles 2 rice dishes, fried squid and soup and were not disappointed. Felt like great comfort food you would get from your parents or relatives. Service was great even though we showed up right before closing and the value for money was unbeatable. Only reason not to give full 5 stars as the decor is a bit dated but was clean and comfortable. Would defiantly recommend.

Visiting for the week and found a total gem of a restaurant! New City is top notch cuisine and super affordable. Excellent customer service by the family members who have run this spot for 36 years. Can't wait to try more of the menu! Come here and you will not be disappointed.

This place is a hidden gem in Battersea, extremely polite staff and the outdoor seating is a peaceful experience in the Summer. Highly recommended and definitely a contender with China Town’s best.

Great little place for cheap and cheerful Chinese food. The service is great and the staff are super friendly. 2 noodle dishes, 1 starter and 2 beers was £34. Not a bad price. The setup is the same as most Chinese eateries so don't expect too much ambience.

They did did spend 26 pounds on the takeway and I an suppose to have my food deliver for free but they did charged me 2 pounds for the delivery and this is the second time she's charging me two pounds

My friends had their wedding reception held here and the food were good! We were a group of 19 persons and they served lots of food that we did not even finish them. I mean they were tasty but we were already so full! The service was topnotch as well. Being an asian, I personally felt at home while dining here. I would recommend this place to celebrate your special occasions. Plus, the price was not pricey at all! PS. They gave loads of free food too! Now that's even better!

I am lucky enough to live 3 minutes from this place. The food is yummy, the portions generous and the service very nice. And at these prices, I don't feel guilty at all about treating myself to some fresh, delicious food.

Quality Chinese. Customer service was so good, the lady that took our order was very kind. The food was fantastic. And may I add... the BEST chips I’ve ever had from a Chinese, I don’t know what they did. But it was as if they were almost flame grilled or something?! Unbelievable taste that I’ve never had before for chips. The shredded beef and chicken balls were fantastic also! All round 10/10. Would highly recommend!

Great chinese, lovely staff on the phone willing to adjust dishes on menu as they didn't do exactly what i wanted. Food arrived much quicker than the stated 40 min delivery time. Even the delivery driver is a winner. Happy to have them on speed dial. Oh and the food is delicious 👏🏼🙌🏼 sorry no photos was too keen to eat what we got.

No he vuelto desde hace un año o más, por lo que estaba preocupado de que el cierre de Covid pudiera haberlos golpeado duro, ¡pero me complace decir que la comida aún era excepcional! Los fideos de tazón grande siguen siendo la atracción principal, pero todo lo demás que tuvimos también fue muy bueno. No te dejes engañar por el aspecto de este lugar desde el exterior y busca una mesa. A Anthony Bourdain le hubiera encantado este lugar.

Great quality food and portion size. Decor is more canteen vibe than restaurant but having been past this place all my life and never eaten in I can say I've found my fave Chinese food!

Made the journey to New City today after moving away from the area, because we love the food so much. Still the best Chinese food in London and such great value, as well as the loveliest, friendly staff.
