The best chinese takeaway in SW london! Super tasty and so reaosnable. It is sash only and not on any of the usual delivery apps but think this improves quality as everything is super fresh and hot! Only one we go to now.

This used to be good from I discovered them after New City which sadly closed but it simply isn't anymore. Food just tasted plain, hardly any flavour, the chicken balls not as crispy. Just a huge waste of money. The delivery driver needs to have some customer service. He's miserable. He's dropped food in my hand and you'll never get a word from him apart from how much food costs and his hands and nails are always dirty. So I'll find another Chinese.

As someone who grew up in a Chinese takeaway, I’ve always had extremely high standards when it comes to eating Chinese takeaway food that isn’t cooked by my dad. Whilst I am yet to find a takeaway that can match the quality and flavour of the food my dad used to cook, this is the only Chinese takeaway in London that I would go back to time and time again. Moonlight is by far the best option in the Clapham/Battersea area and would encourage everyone who hasn’t tried it to give it a chance!

Maybe the super good chef was off, based on the reviews, but the food is mid at best. Dry BBQ ribs were like jerky briquettes. I expected them to not have sauce but to be fairly succulent. I could have lit a fire with them. I suspect they were hanging around for too long after they were cooked.The other four items in my order were way too salty. I drank like a camel after eating one or two pieces from each dish I ordered. The plain chow mein was on the salty side but the most edible. I put everything in the fridge and will see if they can be salvaged later. I am looking for a new place after my favourite Chinese on Battersea Park Road closed down. This place isn't it, although I do appreciate them making my meal just before closing. Edit. I tried to make the dumplings and special fried rice work. Both were far too salty, even when I tried to eat the rice with salad. The salad consisted of mixed greens, tomato, cucumber, onions, beetroot and avocado. I ended up picking out the salad around the rice. I threw the rice and dumplings away. This amount of salt is POISON to the human body. Please get a chef who can balance seasoning if you want your business to survive.

The best Chinese takeaway in Battersea / Clapham area. Really great value dishes and everything was delicious, good sized portions. Cash only so be prepared but they do free delivery for orders over £16!

Avoid!, ordered on Saturday evening and it gave me food poisoning!!!!

We needed a new Chinese takeaway after New City sadly closed down and we have found it. Just ordered SS Pork, Cashew yellow bean chicken, SF Rice and prawn toasts. Delicious, piping hot and packed with crunchy veg all for £27. Thanks Moonlight you have two new fans (and the dog would love it too if he were allowed any!)

Great takeaway! Really well made food, with quite reasonable prices. Their sweet and sour pork is always a solid option. Very friendly on the phone, and free delivery if you call them directly and order above a certain amount. This is my gold standard local Chinese takeaway, especially since New City sadly closed.

This is by far the best Chinese take away in Battersea. Not only is the food great the service you receive is excellent. Thankfully the prices are reasonable enough to make it affordable (many charge silly prices) £20 for 3 dishes that fed 2 dinner with leftovers for lunch today. So grateful they are still going.

Everything you need in terms of a good dinner. Food is tasty, fresh, portions big. We ordered a meal for 2 and chicken balls. All that we got was delicious. I will definitely come back again!

The food was inedible The noodles were black as they were burnt and I couldn’t bite in the the sweet n sour chicken ball as it was rock hard Inedible and I even had a tummy ache at bedtime This place has gone downhill rapidly The last three orders have been shocking when usually lovely I won’t be coming back

Very reasonably priced and delicious Chinese

We were sad when the new city Chinese in battersea closed and have since been on the hunt for a new local Chinese takeaway. We decided to try this and it was absolutely brilliant! Everything was fresh, hot and delicious! Delighted to have found out new local. Highly recommend!

My favourite place of Chinese take out

Definitely the best Chinese takeaway in the area. Great quality food for the price, and always packed well with protein instead of drowning in sauce. Cash only, but worth the journey to the ATM. Probably one of the few takeaways not on any food delivery services, which I suspect is how they manage to keep costs low and quality of ingredients high.

We ordered king prawn fried rice, prawn sesame toast and chicken balls and it was very nice. First time customers! They are quite busy, hence, food is fresh!

Tried for first time after reading reviews. Wish I’d listen to one review regarding sweet n sour chicken Hong Kong style it wasn’t great. The chicken was hard and not crispy or light shame prob not their best dish. King Prawn black bean sauce was too watery but taste was good Fried rice and plain fried noodles were the best dishes really tasty and flavoursome. Prawn on toast had fair amount of prawn filliing but could do with more some area of the toast were empty towards the edges wasn’t anything special these things never arrive crispy due to the take out element. Would order again. But would try other started and main dishes. Great they take cash too

Come here at least once a week the food is lovely and the lady who runs it is so nice.

I have an intolerance to onions and although the first time they included it in the food by mistake it was quickly rectified and they apologised. Service is good and the food is yummy would recommend this takeaway, good portions too!

My go to chinese takeaway whenever I’m lazy to cook. Great food, nice service and fast delivery

I usually recommend this place to all my friends - but I couldn't do that tonight Spring rolls were undercooked, Singapore fired rice was really poor and they gave me sweet and sour chicken instead of kung po chicken. Not sure if there is a different chef on tonight, but certainly not up to the usual standard Sorry for the bad review, but you need to get a bit better than this

Went there Friday early evening and the food was stale and not satisfying whatsoever. The sweet and sour chicken had a nasty after taste, the egg fried rice was dry and stale. My stomach wasn't good the following day!! And they bumped me by a few pounds, sneaky people. They use to be my go to on a regular but they have no real customer loyalty and their food has been going down hill for a while. The fact they still don't take cash is weirdly skeptical. Definitely won't be referring or going back to this place. Dodington chinese takeaway is my original.

This is a great value low key Chinese that is genuinely delicious. Staff are friendly and it’s very clean inside the shop. Couldn’t recommend more.

Great local Chinese take away with decent portions at reasonable price! Was quick to order and quick free delivery! Only slight disadvantage was not able to pay by CC, only cash ! Otherwise great menu to choose: aromatic duck had loads of meats! Recommend!

This is the best local Chinese takeaway in the area. Have tried many other ones but nothing compares to Moonlight. Good sized portions and reasonably priced, good tasty food. Only except cash but that's not an issue. Also deliver but friday and Saturday evenings can get very busy and a long wait is expected but well worth the wait. Worth a try wont be disappointed! .

Look, I do like to get cheeky take away every now and then. I've tried and tested a few in the local area and there are NONE that come even close to moonlight! By far the BEST and most authentic taste I've had. You'll be mad not to try!

Amazing local chinese, with food prepared fresh and with great care. I have tried all of theo other local chinese places and for many reasons (unfresh veggies, mostly onion in my stir-fry, disgusting sauces etc) there weren't as good as this place and I do not have the same issues with Moonlight. They do get extremely busy after 7-8 pm, and then its an hour wait for food, so it's best to arrive before that time.

Taste great, friendly service always tastes fresh

Very tasty, very good portions (two dishes lasted me three meals) and very good value. (four dishes was less than £20!) I was really pleased to see vegetarian Singapore noodles, as you often find the regular meat ones. And they were so good. Have to call to order, and pay by cash but it's worth it. It did take about an hour though, but I'm still happy.

I order some food and when the delivery driver arrived I paid giving a very good tip. Little did I know half the food I ordered was incorrect. I then called moonlight and the guy who answered said that yes there had been an error and the food would be delivered. So we then started eating the food which was correct expecting the swop of the wrong food with the right food only to get after ten minutes a call from a woman who was extremely offensive saying that we had received free prawn crackers and that should be that. I highlighted to her that we ordered and had paid for prawn crackers and if she put extra in that did not compensate for all the wrong dishes we had. Her esponse can only be described as vile. I asked for my money back for the dishes I had paid for which they hadnt delivered and got nothing. DREADFUL PLACE AVOID AT ALL COST ir completely ruined the whole saturday night take away experience

Been going to Moonlight for many years. Staff are friendly, food is delicious and well priced. We tried another Chinese takeaway while Moonlight was closed recently, and all we could say was 'not as good as Moonlight' So glad you're back!

Great Chinese takeaway. Started ordering when I moved to Clapham and have been trying to order for ages, but I think they've shut down while we're in lockdown. I hope the business is ok and will order as soon as they open again!

This place has always been a very decent takeaway with the usual Cantonese staple dishes, and the last few visits have been really exceptional. Everything is super fresh, cooked to order, and they've been (as usual) quite happy to accommodate my odd requests: I want squid with green pepper and black bean sauce, can you please thicken the sauce a little, and no MSG? "Of course, not a problem." I see that you do stir fried broccoli, can i also have some pak choi, lots of garlic, a little sliced ginger and carrot too? "Yes, no problem". (pic uploaded; they nailed it, it was delicious and the lady even remembered no MSG from 3 weeks ago without me asking). This is THE best Chinese takeaway in Clapham, no contest, and they now do delivery.

Served by the Mum ( older member of staff) so miserable, unlike younger staff previously. Special curry really poor, the meat very poor quality. Previously had special chop suey which was ok. Very inconsistent food. From up north (York) where far more friendly and far better tasting food.

I work for Sodexo prestige London and I'm in the catering industry since last 20 years,I know what means good food....that place is simply but the offer of the food and the hands of that people they are amazing...honest people cooking good quality food and with the right price (and portions) something really difficult in that days here in London ....simple...the best Chinese option in battersea and nearby.

Negotiated a good deal before entering. Food was good - not great. Very friendly! Would go back but will try others on Brick Lane first..
