With the menu as varied and vast, it wasn’t a problem for us to choose a different main meal every night. Quality was good, plate sizes were good, staff were knowledgeable about the dishes available. Price were in line to what we would normally pay, main meals were about £13.50, deserts £6.00 and drinks, pretty much what we are used to. Great selection of sprites, wines and beers. The Hotel bar was open to guests and to non residents and we noticed quite a few “locals” enjoying a beer or two Hotel was spotless and after each table was left it was fully scrubbed down for the next occupant One nice touch was anyone could eat where they liked, either in the main restaurant, bar area or special seating area. Dogs were welcome, but they were only allowed in the bar area Nice relaxed setting and staff would had time for each guest

We had a delicious cup of coffee brought to our table outside the bar. Service was friendly and quick. Afterwards we explored the hotel garden across the road, we were invited although just visited the bar. Then we crossed the bridge and walked along the river with our dog. Parking outside the hotel was very convenient.

We had some really delicious cake and tea. I would definitely recommend the banana chocolate cake and the apple caramel cake. The service was really nice and I would definitely stop there again.

Lucky to find that dinner was available on one of the nights. The meal was excellent. Extremely well cooked, presented and served. Don't miss the opportunity to eat there if you can. Elaine is a great cook/chef.

Food was nice and service was, for the most part, friendly. One server seemed to be having a bad day. Brusque and barely civil. Very expensive for what was served.

Agree with the other reviews. This is an unlikely place to find at the end of the world. We felt welcomed and in the main enjoyed our stay. The only downside was the cost for the 2 of us. £200 for a snack, breakfast, plate of curry and a bunkhouse bed with no shower and a outside toilet seemed breathtaking expensive. To put this into perspective, we go to a nice hotel each year for a winter break, that's more than we pay per day at the hotel with vastly more civilized amenities. I do understand there are logistics involved at Cape wrath. However for an 'ordinary' local Scottish person I'd be looking to stay at sandwood bay and make a lunch trip to the cafe as I simply can't justify the cost/value. However, it is altogether improbably situated and a must experience if you are doing a long walk. Just be prepae your expectations.
