Neptune & Prawn in Coleraine

Tried to get into the bar last night with my groups of friends, we’re all 20 years old and was turned down by the bouncer as they weren’t letting anymore people in, which is fair enough. However, he had to make a comment on our age and status to reiterate why we wouldn’t get in, which I believe is unprofessional, disrespectful and unneccessary coming from a man with some type of ‘power,’ towards a group of girls.

Although food was average our waiter Aaron was fantastic he was so attentive and friendly, we will definitely return because the service was fantastic.

Not so many places in Portrush as I imagined, good food and view across the harbour and beach.

Tried to order take away no answer to phone. Tried to phone restaurant no answer to phone although it was busy in between my attempts. Could not contact Ramires very disappointed.

Says online it's a seafood bar but it's a Chinese. Prices are awful for what you actually get very disappointed

Had a nice meal , server didn't write down our order , so starter was wrong , then waited a while for correct starter. Food was tasty but expensive and small portions, sides not included in main meal price . Just an ok experience.

Food was superb, the service faultered, but bearing in mind how busy the place was its understandable. They seemed short staffed as well and bar service suffered to. The music and atmosphere was great. Would definitely recommend! The team were very friendly and also offered as discount to make up for it!

Very dismissive attitude by servers. We were served our main.... then servers brought food to table beside us. We then had to ask for the remainder of our food. At this time we hadn't been given our plates.... I asked for a plate to which the server looked confused and brought us 2 side plates ..... I had to then point out we needed 2 mains plates .... We asked for forks... which never arrived so my hubby went and got them himself... £104 bill for the priviledge.... next time we'll just get a takeaway from yoko 2 tables around us had to send food back as was cold.

The less said about the burger the better.

Our table was set up but had not been cleaned from the previous service. Lacking in cleanliness On the upside the food is amazing.

20 year old with us thought the side dish of noodles he had was very small so came home and made 3 slices of cheese and toast! Just something not right. It just wasn't filling. Disappointed

The food was reasonably good, although expensive for what it was - we paid over £100 for a shared starter, main course, and a few drinks. The service however was dreadful, probably the worst we've ever experienced. Every time we wanted anything we had to go looking for a staff member, rather than them come to us. Over 25 mins to order a drink after being seated, drinks then took another 25 mins after that (arrived after our starter), pint of beer that never came, given a half pint of beer when I had ordered a full one etc. Unfortunately staff hardly came near the table, so grabbing the attention of someone passing was difficult, and every time they said they'd get something, it took another 20-30 mins (or had to be asked for again). Wasn't particularly busy and it was well staffed so not really sure what the problem was Especially disappointed as we were celebrating a special occasion (which they had been made aware of in advance)

Conveniently located. I had the Kung Pao chicken which was banging! The staff was really friendly and the cocktails were absolutely stellar!

I headed there with a friend that has 2 babies and they were very welcoming despite us having a big pram. The staff is kind and very helpful, the food was served quickly and it was delicious, not only visually! Prices are affordable and good enough for the location. Definitely recommend trying their meat!

3 out of 5 glasses were dirty,extremely slow service. As previously stated, it's an ok Chinese menu,in no way authentic. Too busy to care for the patrons they seat. Will not return.

I had an outstanding experience at the restaurant, and I must say that the server, Arran, truly exceeded my expectations. His exceptional service went above and beyond, ensuring that every aspect of our meal was enjoyable. Arran’s attentiveness, knowledge, and warm demeanour added a delightful touch to our dining experience. It’s rare to find a server who is so dedicated and willing to go the extra mile.

Pictures of the food do not do it justice , We started eating before taking pictures. The food was amazing , The service with Arran was out of this world. I would highly recommend 👌

Could not recommend this place enough! We popped in after a North Coast road trip with a friend from abroad, without a reservation, and a double buggy. They were very accommodating, our server Charley was lovely, polite and attentive, and the food wad delivious!

Mediocre at best, cramped seating, would need to wash their tables with detergent as the antibacterial spray has made the surfaces sticky. Service as we witnessed was patchy, one table barely had time to take a bite before someone asked them how was everything, I found this most entertaining. The food was uninspiring to the point that I would avoid if possible. If you're in Portrush though, you're not spoilt for choice.

Harbour view is excellent. Flavours were too strong in Asian Menu. Service was not attentive.

Liked it. Lovely view, good cocktails and convenient for town centre.

Early on Wednesday we had a great sharing meal. Salt and Pepper Chicken. Halloumi Tikka And Tacos. So lovely and flavoursome (small Beak peppers . What a discovery!!!! ).

Food was amazing you have to try it out if you love food like me

No reservation- offered bar stool at bar to eat, very high to reach up. Chinese replica food served in small saucepan, no plate provided until almost finished! Cutlery arrived after food and had to request napkins. Swarming with staff, however etiquette poor, nay need few lessons on how to treat customers. Very disappointing experience.

Very disappointing , got the chilli prawn fried rice , chicken was like it was from the Spar with Frank's hot sauce over it! Prawns were smaller than the rice and very expensive

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced!! Took forever to order from us, food came out after an hour and ended up having our sides “missing”. They also don’t answer their phones if your trying to order a take away! Not worth it…

An experience to question. Our table was not ready for the time we booked. We had to wait at the bar and patiently wait to be served. We ordered and when our starters came we have to ask for cultery and napkins. During the main course, which the waiter didn't even know what he was serving, which we also had to ask for cultery for ...it got cold and asked for the air con to be turned off. It wasn't so we sat and froze. At the end of the meal the bill was literally threw at us. We had the cash on the table and was literally asked abruptly to hand the money over even though we were finishing out drinks. I'd think twice about booking again.

Loud music, long waits, crowded dinging. Food was okay for the price, but nothing special, a bit pretentious all things considered.

First and foremost, this is like a Chinese food place. So, don't let the name fool you. The atmosphere is great and the servers are nice, but the place is so busy and they don't have enough staff. Expect everything to take a long time. The food tasted good but the portions are smaller than similar restaurants. If you have a hankering for some Chinese then give this place a try.

The restaurant was uncomfortable. The food was just okay The staff ,,,head waitress good presentation of some of the staff laughable.

Good/ok but too salty. The menu should also carry a spicy rating.

Annie, Izzy and Felipe provided excellent service. They were absolutely amazing.

First time here, food and service were excellent and good portions. Duck spring rolls and satay skewers for starter and chilli chicken chow mein and fish and chips, fish was butterfly tempura prawns! Amazing! Back soon.

Myself and my family went here for food, if you are vegetarian AVOID. We ordered tofu Katsu curry and sent it back, they replaced this with a veg chow mein and to our surprise this was even more tasteless. Save your money and go elsewhere. Staff were amazing and very corporative just a shame the food was genuinely awful and overpriced.

Paid £24 for sea bass which was served cooked in what tasted like half a bottle of soy sauce and was unbelievably salty. Def ruined the sea bass. My partner had “salt and chilli” goujans which were just regular goujans. Bit disappointed because the price is quite high and expected more! Service was nice but quite slow.

Its the first time I have been here. The food was gorgeous and service was good. Would highly recommend it.

Celebrated my birthday here, Tom and the team were very accomodating and helped the evening go smoothly. Service was quick and everyone enjoyed the food. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Enjoyed a couple of drinks here at the beginning of December. A lovely cosy place with a warm atmosphere. Will be back for food sometime for sure!

Speedy service and the food was exceptional.

Service was fantastic! Food was hit and miss, my husbands ribs were beautiful, my food was ok, but like something anyone could chuck in the oven. Don't get the nachos. Served cold and the taste isn't great

Simply the best restaurant in Ireland. The food is absolutely delicious. Great portion sizes and reasonably priced too. We received first class service from Nicola on Thursday 10th November. We'll definitely be back. Keep up the good work!

Staff fantastic and that's why they got 2 stars ...what an absolute over rated place for food .. £18 for the pepper chicken.. if they hadve said £2 it was to expensive.. dry ...tobaco onions not cooked and tbh worst meal I've had long time..... They have the monopoly for food but cmon guys you need to step it up .. people are paying top dollar but not getting what the deserve

Had starters which was fabulous chili prawns ,,, an prawn crackers,,Came to main courses both chicken dishes 1 was sweet an sour chicken Was just OK, an the other was chicken kung po not good at all was very dry an burned taste all through it, not a good experience

This is a very popular place which leads to a very good atmosphere. The food is great with generous portions and the bar upstairs is really cool with a lovely view of the harbour.

Good food but very very expensive and took ages. Booked in for 7.30 and wasnt out of there till after 9pm. £65 for two people, two courses each +1drink. I didn't see any one else eating desert. It wasnt on the menu. Small bad wooden chairs made my wife's back sore. A few days ago previously read other reviews about the loud music and they are true. For some be reason the music is full blast, I could hardly hear the wife. Tables were sticky. Staff were friendly but I think we'll be giving it a wide birth from now on.

Overall, food was good and came quickly. Could do with some more imaginative vegetarian options. Sides of rice and noodles on the small side. Atmosphere lively, but may be too noisy for some people.

Given the hype around this restaurant I had high expectations but unfortunately I was left a little unimpressed. The food was just okay, but I will say our waiter was lovely and very helpful. I wont be rushing back.

Great food in a superb harbour location.

We booked a table for 7.15pm for a family dinner, while on holiday. We are a family of five, with three teenagers. The restaurant had been recommended, and we were all looking forward to it. The table was by the window, with lovely views over the harbour. The food was good & the waiting staff were very helpful. However, the music was on the loud side. We were unable to enjoy our own family conversations over what was a very tasty meal. We asked two/three times for the music to be turned down. When it was reduced, they checked back to ask if it all was okay. However, the music was then back up to the same high volume almost immediately. Very disappointing family meal out. We would not go there again.

The Fawlty Towers experience just keeps coming at the Ramore complex of bars and restaurants! This time it’s the booking system which lets face it is tough to do right. Sarcasm! We booked a table for 6:45pm. When we arrived there was a long queue outside which we assumed was people who turned up without a booking. Wrong! Everyone in the queue I spoke to some ten to fifteen people had a booking. It appears they run a school dinners three settings approach with patrons hoofed out after ninety minutes. Food was average I assume because staff have to accelerate from 0 to 100 in five minutes! Service was good and the staff do their best. There are other places and they are cheaper and the food is good. Will not be back for a while I suspect.

Really disappointing not one vegetarian option on menu upstairs and only one downstairs, nothing vegan at all, crazy in today's day and age

Dined her twice this weekend. First meal early Friday evening was fabulous, staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We didn't have a reservation but we were offered a table for an hour. Plenty of time to order, prompt service. Dined again in Sunday evening. We ordered two dishes the same Chilli beef chow mein with noodles, one had lots of stir fried vegetables the other had barely any. Great taste though. The Chicken Satay dish was a repeat order of Friday evening and that seemed to be a much smaller portion. Last dish was Honey and chilli glazed prawns. The prawns we big and meaty, lovely dish. Lovely location on the harbour with lovely views. Would definitely visit again.

Extremely disappointed in our visit here on the 20th July. Our food came out very cold and even after being replaced was very poor quality. Very over priced for what we recieved. No issues with the staff as all were very polite and apologetic but the food was extremely disappointing. I definitely wouldn't be bringing my family back here.

Nice food needs more gluten free options as I'm coeliac and there was not much to choose from, but the menu is good for those who do not have allergies or intolerance.

Staff inexperienced, waiter was not sure if food was gluten free. Toilets not really great. Could do better.

The food was good. Music was a bit on the loud side, but I'm probably not quite in the demographic that the place is aiming at. It did feel a bit like I was eating in a nightclub. Would I go again?. No I wouldn't as I would like somewhere that had music on at a lower volume.

My review now: Restaurant has completely let itself down. When we went, at least half the menu wasn't available to order and when we did the order, the portions are significantly smaller than they used to be (with a price increase). That night we went was particularly rowdy in there. A few couples around us were clearly not very happy. Wrong dishes being served, having no cutlery etc. Requested a an alcohol free cocktail and told "can't go off Menu" (despite it being literally just not adding vodka to a mix of juices) so had to sit and drink Fanta while my friends enjoyed cocktails. Not sure if this was a "one off" experience but given the experiences with the rest of thr Ramore restaurants, I doubt it. My review 5 years ago: This place is incredible and super popular! Always busy and the food is incredible! Massive portions so watch out at how many dishes you order. Cocktail bar upstairs is also lovely, was extremely busy when we went though!

Overpriced for all it is. £18 for a bowl of pasta is a bit nuts. Nacho starter is a few crisps with a drizzle of liquid cheese for £8 ... They know how to make a profit anyway. Location and service is spot on. Food is nice, albeit expensive.

Food was well below average. Price was average. Service was average. Atmosphere was reasonably good. Wont rush back. Unimpressed.

Food was lovely however it was not enjoyed when we received it an hour and a half after we ordered it. Staff were not overly helpful and did not offer to reduce the bill at all. Won’t be going back anytime soon.

Noisy, hen party crowd x 3 in upstairs lounge. Vastly overpriced drinks. Crispy duck was really over cooked and dried up rather than crispy. Barely edible. Won't be rushing back. Used to be so much better and a lot more reasonable.

Booked a table for 6-30 , on arrival where taken to table seven , our drinks order was taken , then after few minutes our food order was taken , we waited on our drinks to come , even though we could see others who arrived after us being served their drinks , eventually the jug of water we had ordered for the table came , we said to the waitress we had other drinks to come , she said they’d be coming , nothing came , then our starters came , we said to the waitress we hadn’t received our drinks , she then returned with them Immediately, after we had our starters the mains arrived without the sides , we waited but they never came , we got the attention of someone and they went and brought us our sides but after the delay the Fried rice Id ordered was cold I complained to the supervisor , but he didn’t seem to be bothered , we won’t be in a rush back .

After an hour we still hadn't got our starters. When we asked a waitress to check on it for us, she had to come and retake our order. Finally received a cold starter. Main course was fine but on the whole I'll not be going back.

Excellent spot up the North Coast. Prices are fair. Portion sizes are really good. Staff very friendly and place clean. The food was excellent and tasted fresh. View from our seat was lovely as well. Lovely atmosphere around the place as well.

Very disappointing, was there over the bank holiday. Mediocre food, over priced for the quality received. The place was dirty and staff were good but overwhelmed in the circumstances. Not the Ramore restaurants of old where food was fab, reasonably priced and a high standard. Wouldnt go back 😔

Food was outstanding, however service was awful. Asked 5 times in first 10 minutes by 3 different staff if we wanted to order drinks even though we had ordered the first time. Then got the wrong drinks. Starter came out quick then waited 30 mins on main as girl didn't tell kitchen we had finished the starter. Could over hear other tables having issues too. Wouldn't rush back.

Good food but service was leaving a lot to be desired. We had a table booked but when we arrived we had to wait upstairs and find our own table when one came free. All food and drink had to be ordered and paid for in full on ordering, rather than building a tab as would be expected.

I’d give 0 stars if I could. Booked a table through the week for 7.15pm for an anniversary dinner with my partner. After arriving slightly earlier than scheduled, we were shown upstairs for “starters and drinks only” which was fine as it was busy and seems to be the norm. After speaking to a few people that I knew who were also there, I found out they got their tables immediately. However it was busy so I let it slide once again. We ordered the nachos and salt and pepper wings. The wings were about the highlight of the night. After forking out over £40 for a starter each and 2 drinks each my partner asked a member of staff if we had a table for mains and the rebuttal was a yes. Some time passed once more and yet again we asked whether we ACTUALLY had food booked or not. The staff member informed us we were alleged to have only booked for cocktails upstairs. My partner displayed the reservation which clearly stated we were booked for the Neptune and Prawn for a meal. The claim to our logic was then that the “booking system was under development”. How convenient. We eventually left at shortly after 9 - tableless. So, a long story short - 2 people, £40+ in bills, and 0 tables for us. Is it possible to leave a negative star rating? Avoid at all costs

Food was delicious, service was great and the resturant had a lovely feel about it! Highly recommend it
