Nakhon Thai - Royal Docks in Newham

Enjoyed it very much. We had a pretty good table overlooking the water, the place had a really great vibe. The food tasted great and it was served pretty quickly despite it being a Friday evening. The prices were fair and staff were really friendly too, no complaints.

The upper deck was closed and the restaurant did not care to inform us despite the fact that we made the booking a month in advance for upper deck. On site Parking as offered only to the favourite ones we were asked to park almost half a mile away. Food and service was also below average; will not recommend this place unless you want to wast your money and kill your evening.

Food is okay, conviniently located next to a pier. But can't believe I spent over 30 pounds for a lunch... it was just a stir fried duck dish, a bowl of rice and a Thai iced coffee

Excellent food, nice location and good atmosphere. They absolutely will not give you chopsticks and their long island ice teas are exceptionally long, lanky island ice teas, long bois, tall chumps, tasty cocktails. Much love for this place

Had a great time at Nakhon Thai, hadn’t been in quite a while but will be returning soon. Food and drinks were delicious with a warm welcome and wonderful service from Anwar. Very good value for a quality experience.

Recently moved to the area and brought my parents here for dinner. The starters were amazing, but the mains were way below average. Very very expensive compared to the likes of chains such Rosas Thai etc, with little to offer in return for the inflated prices. not very authentic flavours. Booze very very expensive.

It’s definitely a different food compared with many times we have been before, tasteless and overpriced. Sirloin beefsteak served in a hot plate was 21.95, it was a bit burnt, tasteless and served with a lime sauce, it was too sour. Scallops was too sour and tasteless. The prawn in garlic the chicken in sweet and sour sauce were not fresh. Red beef curry was just mediocre, just the somtom was nice. We all were disappointed and of course we will never come back.

I visited the restaurant today on 24/02/24 and we travelled almost 18-20 miles to have dinner there. It was my anniversary dinner. The food was good. The manager Anwar is nice guy who greeted us and guided us how to drive to the restaurant when there are road works. Soup was nice 8/10 but have to say it is overpriced. Normally restaurants charge between £6.99-£7.99 but they charge £9.50. Dumpling & fish cakes were nice too 7.5/10 Green curry was tasty 8/10 and chicken dish was good 7/10 but the Pad Thai Noodles were too sweet - very bad taste 1/10. We had to send those back and replaced it with other noodles. The waiters need training how to communicate and serve the guests. When asked for tissues, he brought 2 tissues in his hands rather than putting in a plate or a tray. We paid a bill of £96 for 4 people.

Nicely decorated restaurant with a lovely view to enjoy while eating. The service wasn’t great, was not a busy evening and we were seated at the end of the room, where staff hardly take notice of you. In terms of the food, it was decent. I have personally tried better elsewhere, but it is a decent spot for a quick dinner date. - The jungle curry (beef) was spicy but lacked flavour. 5/10 - The egg fried rice was nice & well seasoned. 7/10 - The noodles tasted too much like ketchup, a bit too sweet for my liking. 3/10

Can’t really comment on the food. They advertise on the outside of the window a meal deal from 12 till 5. When I tried to order it they said the menu has now changed. Yet the deal is still up in the window.

Been there before loves the food and atmosphere so went there again with family. Poor service from waiters-getting ordered mixed and adding things on the bill. Food wasn’t great bland and not what I remembered from my previous visit. Don’t think I will visit again.

A lovely last meal out for 2023 with my partner. The food was delicious, portions on point. We weren't rushed in anyway thought the restaurant was full. We didn't get to dessert which was fine....i was so full from the main. The service was really good but elevated to excellent when a member of the team gave my uber driver directions, poor guy had been driving around for 20 mins..... how sweet he didn't give up either. A thousand thanks for helping the driver to find me. I have and will continue to recommend Nakhon...... Thanks for a wondeful evening Namaste🙏🏾

Lovely Thai restaurant on the river, beautiful inside. The food was absolutely great!! This was my first time and I loved it! Everything was yummy! The whole table was happy. The only thing that upset me, was that I didn't have much of an appetite when I got there, so I wasn't even able to finish half my meal, I packed it up and forgot it on the table when I left (even paid for a container lol), it was closing time too, I tried calling them less than 10 minutes later to see if I could come back and get it, but no one answered and in the morning I thought I'd see if they had popped it in the fridge for me, but they threw it away. So I ended up splitting the bill, paying more than my bill and actually barely got to eat anything, which stung lol.

Solid Thai restaurant, nice location in Docklands, good selection of thai foods and mocktails. Friendly Thai and Asian staff. Can have a nice walk by the London cable car afterwards.

Very nice food, good quantity and nice place. It was around 70 for 2 people: 2 beers + starter for 2 + curry + coconut rice + prawns padthai. We agreed that the starter (in the picture) was a bit expensive for the quality. Saturday night was full, we made a reservation. Not cheap but ok in London. The mild curry was more than mild so be careful! 🌶

Ordered our food, only for the mains to be served and the sticky rice to be forgotten. Had to wait another 10 minutes before it arrived so the rest of our food was cold by the time we could eat.

Thai restaurant timewarped from the 1990s. +ves: many food items are very good and the service is very good -ves: most starters are straight from the freezer and all the curries are pre made and heated up in a microwave. If you stick to the stir fry, rice and vegetable items which are cooked from fresh you will have a great meal. For the better items on the menu the food is very good value for the others you might feel it’s a little overpriced. Personally I liked it enough to go back several times. I think they would do better with a shorter menu they could cook entirely from fresh

A very busy Thai restaurant, with a great view over the Royal Docks, I settled for the jungle curry, because I was intrigued to see how powerful the chillis were....yes, a little too much! I was with my family so we all had something different, and we were well satisfied with the meals Maybe a tad expensive, so this will only be a very occasional visit.

Had an excellent dinner here. The set menu was quite good value and had a big variety of dishes. Portions were big and dishes had a nice amount of spice. Service was good throughout.

I was walking past the restaurant, which is located at the western end of Royal Victoria Dock. I noticed that they were doing some preparations for outdoor dining, in line with the current government guidelines, I asked if there was halal and non-halal meat and poultry. Three men got involved in answering, the first one was a young guy who, trying to be clever, said that all drinks were halal!The second one, possibly feeling a bit embarrassed at his colleagues rudeness, in a confident voice, pointed out that all meat and poultry was halal.I asked, why?He looked a bit confused and lost his confidence at this difficult question.Finally, the third, much more aggressive man came into the equation.He started by saying there are Muslims who eat here.Knowing that halal costs more than the non-halal equivalent, It is more likely to be detrimental to the animals welfare and it imposes a religions practices on people who may not want that religion imposed upon them. This is where the animal is dedicated to Allah at the time of slaughter, the process can only be carried out by a male Muslim, anyone else is considered unclean!Sikh`s are not permitted to eat any religious slaughter, Muslims can eat non-halal meat and poultry according to the Koran 2173.Even during this period of Ramadan (the next 4 weeks) where Muslims will be fasting, the non-Muslims who attend the restaurant will be allowed halal only meat and poultry and will not be permitted to eat pork.If you do not want Islamic values imposed on you when you pay to eat out, and more importantly, if you don`t want an aggressive Muslim restaurant manager frothing at the mouth when asked if you can have non-halal meat and poultry, i would avoid the place like the plague.

Ordered takeaway for 1st time and was blown away with the quality. Beef salad was totally authentic, probably the best Ive tasted outside Bangkok. Masaman and Penang outstanding and portion sizes are huge. We will be back

Shame on you guys for allowing the supervisor “ Tony” to try and steal people. I called to place an order for delivery. The leaflet clearly says that every orders above £15 have free delivery. Tony the dishonest supervisor tried to charge me an extra £2. He tried to explain his scam by saying that the menus are old and not updated. Tony didn’t know that my last order was placed 2 days ago. Such a disgusting behaviour as they should be happy to have customers in such difficult time. People like Tony will drive business into a cliff. Dishonesty never pays.

Delicious Thai food. Brilliant portion sizes and a wide range to choose from on the menu. Great setting too looking out over the waterfront. Staff very pleasant. Looking forward to returning soon.

I went her for my birthday. When we got to the entrance we were asked to wear a mask, I don’t know who has put that regulation in place but that doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. My husband didn’t have a mask so we had to buy one from the restaurant. Walked to our table and then took of the mask very pointless. We ordered pad Thai, the Nakhon specialThai rice, seafood sauce and spring rolls. The food came out on time and was very delicious. Couldn’t finish the food as it was a lot so took it away. Waiter was nice, restaurant was relaxed. Overall I had a nice time at the restaurant.

Nakon Thai is an excellent restaurant, food and atmosphere is great. However as a takeaway they are exceptionally expensive and severely overpriced when comparing to other providers in the vicinity where quality seems just as good. Team Nakon maybe worth considering

Nakhon Thai is in a superb position overlooking both the water sports on Royal Victoria Dock but also the Emirates cable cars ascending into and descending from the skies. The restaurant itself is a rather prosaic glass box although rather cluttered by the usual paraphernalia of Thai restaurants such as Buddhist statues and photographs of starchily dressed members of the Thai royal family. The menu runs through the entire gamut of Thai staples. Prawn crackers were available even though off menu. Portions are substantial. Long and chunky chicken satay sticks came with customary peanut sauce. Prawns were deep-fried in batter. Main courses of duck with pepper and ginger felt more Chinese than Thai, whilst the lamb in a massaman curry was a tad chewy. We ordered too much rice, portions of coconut and egg-fried in addition to the special chicken rice for my daughter. The Kopparberg pear cider I ordered metamorphosed into strawberry and lime. Chamomile tea came in an exquisite see-through pot.

We were staying at the yacht hotel nearby and were looking for a place to eat at short notice. Booked online and received a confirmation straight away.Arrive there and go through the usual COVID procedure and are seated swiftly. Cocktails and food were terrific, service fast and staff friendly and accommodating. 5/5

We visited last night for dinner. I ordered king prawn pad thai and my partner order thai red curry. The phad thai tasted okay but I was shocked to find only 5 - yes 5 - that's right a measly 5 prawns! The chicken in my partners curry was disgusting. It tasted like rubber and was very small off cuts. During the meal we were never asked how it was. When the waitress collected the plates she didn't make any conversation. When I paid the bill I asked them to remove the service charge and they made no effort to ask why.

Authentic Thai food in an unexpected location! The food is a bit sweeter than the usual Thai food I have, but still very good. The selection was great, decently priced too. The restaurant facing the emirates cable car, river which is a lovely view when you dine in.

Personally I didn’t like the food, it was only the starters that I liked. I asked to change my drink because it didn’t taste great at all, baring in mind I only had sip they refused. The drink Very watered down!The customer service was alright however I wouldn’t advise getting their mains as personally for me it wasn’t nice. The scenery is nice and the ambiance, but as for the food not so great.

We had a family meal here. It was a nice but a slightly disappointing experience in some respects. They have some covid safety measures in place, but some of the waiters didn’t wear masks and were far too close. The food is good. Some dishes are very good. Seafood is a strongpoint. The salad menu and presentation was v poor. The problem is the service is so incompetent, there are too many examples to cite but essentially, everything seemed like too much trouble! The staff seemed confused about getting extra water etc, brought the wrong dishes, portions seemed very strange. For special celebrations they may benefit from the location, but I probably wouldn’t go back in a hurry.

I’m half Thai, my mother is from Thailand. I can vouch that this is authentic Thai food which in my experience isn’t that common in London. So far I have had the fish cakes, Thai green curry, Thai dumplings and Massaman curry and all were divine. Highly recommend. I had take away each time.

Went for an evening meal on 17th of August 20 with family had an amazing experience restaurant was beautiful. Location an view from window overlooking the opposite excell london and its waters food was presented lovely and tasted delicious staff provided an excellent service and amazing experience i tasted an felt Thailand right there in docklands which was wonderful thank you management and staff.

Visited last week as part of the 'eat out help out'. Couldn't fault the food, very tasty, with good variety. We had the mixed platter for starter, crispy garlic king prawns, gaeng massamun & a noodle & rice dish. Only thing that let it down was the customer service. The restaurant wasn't at full capacity as we ate slightly earlier. We had a table of 4, 1 of our drinks took half an hour to arrive, after we had eaten the starters - we had also chased it numerous times. Then 1 of the main courses came out 10 mins after all the rest - I was sat there with just noodles to eat until the prawns came out, so they had to go cold. Again we chased this, but the staff didn't seem to really care and came across quite grumpy.If you don't mind poor customer service, then do visit. We just didn't pay the full service charge & told them why. The cost of each meal is a little pricey, so I would suggest this to be a place for a special occasion.One good thing is that you can take the food away if you can't eat it all. They are also taking your temperature before you go in, with hand sanitiser available. Menu's are contactless by a QR scanner.

i booked a table for my Mothers birthday for 2.15pm. On arrival we was informed rather abruptly by who i think was the manager that we only have 5 mins to pick what we want to eat as the kitchen is closing at 3pm. Nowhere was i informed when making the reservation or on the website. As we was already there and serving we decided to eat, the waiter then came over to take our order and when we asked to have the thai platter i quote he said " ohh that takes a bit long to cook and we are leaving at 3 we got things to do". Honestly, if it wasnt my mothers birthday we would have left without ordering anything. We ended up ordering the thai basics - green thai curry, jasmine rice and chicken pad thai. To be honest, regardless of the service the food was very nice, good portions and full of flavour. To end 2.55pm all customers in the restaurant were handed takeaway plates and their bill (without anyone asking) to prompt us out of the restaurant.

We popped in this restaurant last night on the off chance of getting a table last minute. We were seated straight away, served and eating within 15 minutes. The food is amazing!!! We had chicken green curry with noodles, coconut rice and dumplings and everything was cooked to perfection, had amazing flavour, was hot and delicious. I could not rate this place any higher and I love Thai food so have a fair amount of experience in other Thai restaurants. The decor is very authentic Thai which really adds to the brilliant experience.

not really a person to write reviews but with the meal we had here I felt like it derserved one. Not even going to complain about the service. We started off with a couple of pornstar martini with cost £12 each so we hoping it was good. It had no alcohol tatse in it. It felt like they were trying to kill us with that syrup, it was the worst pornstar martini I ever had. We didnt touch the drink at all and ended up ordering a beer and lemonade. From that point on we knew things wasnt looking good. Moving onto the food. A simple vegetable dish was so salty. The fish had layers of batter on it, it was horrible. The noodles dish was so burnt it was inedible. It was clear the chef isnt very good and doesnt taste their food. I could go on but I'll leave it there. If I could I would give this place 0 stars. Please do not call youself authentice thai, this place is owned and run by indians. Never returning to this place ever again. We only came her because we couldnt get a table at kinkao thai restaurant which isnt far from here. Go and eat there and you will understand. Goodluck. R.i.p

We used to order regularly, but not anymore.Last week they included an egg fried rice rather than the garlic rice (twice the price) in our order. This evening I mentioned it when ordering, they said I should've called last week and they would've replaced it. That would've meant waiting 30mins for 1 portion of rice to be delivered and all our food going cold. We simply thought we'd mention it next time we ordered as we are / were regulars.BEST CHECK YOUR ORDER ON COLLECTION - open all the boxes, ridiculous!

Awful experience. We placed an order for takeaway. The food arrived 20 minutes late and was cold. The starter “platter” was greasy and tiny, with only one of each item; it couldn’t be shared, despite costing £12. We called to enquire, as it seemed there may have been a mistake. The person who spoke to us (Tahir) was very rude and aggressive. Our meal cost £47. We could not advise against dining here more strongly.

Be careful. The takeaway menu on line is not the same charge as the current delivery menu. This is not advertised & question whether it is legal. Sea Bass is on the menu on line for £19.95 (steep anyway) but on Deliveroo for £23.95! Shocking. Appalling. What we got for this was a sea bass fillet (probably frozen) & the Thai green curry was green but that was it's only authenticity. Don't order from this rip off place.

Great attentive service ,the food is exceptional with lovely views over the East London Docklands, would highly recommend visiting here as it is a fantastic experience. Parking isn't the easies, if you park around the back and walk through it is easy.

Incredible food and even more amazing service. We were welcomed by the lovely staff here who were very accommodating and helped surprise my girlfriend with a beautiful dessert! Anwar, was a fantastic waiter, thank you!! Would highly recommend. 10/10.

Apart from not having our booking on record when we turned up (which we had an email confirmation for via a 3rd party), the experience was really good.They explained on arrival we had a 2 hour window as they were fully booked later on in the evening, that was fine with us.The food was really good, as was the service (might have helped they wanted us out on time but we were never hurried), loved the decor and the ambience of the place and really enjoyed eating there, not the cheapest, but then this is London and we would definitely return.

It was ok. Not so special. Had food here before and it was good. This time they tom yum soup didn’t taste right.

Uwielbiam kuchnię tajską i ta restauracja mnie nie zawiodła. Pysznie, świeżo i ostro. Ciekawe drinki, zwłaszcza Thai Chilli Martin. Obsługa bardzo kulturalna, na wysokim poziomie. Cenowo dość drogo, ale jak na Londyn OK. Warto to zjeść, polecam.

Personal muy acogedor, la comida salió muy rápido. Teníamos el curry verde tailandés vegetariano que estaba delicioso! Era el cumpleaños de mi madre y había ordenado el postre de cumpleaños / aniversario cuando reservé y lo sacaron con una enorme vela brillante y cantaron para mi madre. Incluso nos dieron a mi madre y a mí una oportunidad en la casa antes de que nos fuéramos.

Excellent what can I say, this was very very good Thai food, the flavours are intense, I had the chicken wings starter and the garlic chilli mushrooms, both came with a chilli dip and chilli sauce was very fragrant, mains were beef with chilli , garlic , basil, green beans, chicken with chilli and garlic , plain vermicelli and egg fried rice, bottle of wine £22.00 very nice indeed, I’m coming back at leat 3 times a year to this place even though I live over 125 miles away, superb.

This is the only place i have ever called to try an book a table and was told that i cant do so because they dont allow children into the restaurant.i may have been more understanding of this, had this place been a bar serving food but this is suppose to be a restaurant or if this was an plush restaurant in the heart of Mayfair.

Went in September for a night out and my friends tried it for the first time! Wonderful dining experience! Food was on point. Service was good. Nothing outstanding but decent!

4 of us went to the restaurant after reading the reviews online. On entering the restaurant it looked nice and we were looking forward to eating there before going out for an event. My colleagues chose what looked like a nice bottle of red wine. A waiter brought it to us and asked us to try it. As soon as the bottle was opened, it smelt a little off to us. 2 of us in the party tried it and it just did not taste right. So we sent the wine back and requested for a different bottle. A different waiter came and the first thing he said when he came to our table was, "There was nothing wrong with the wine, we've had someone who drinks wine all the time try it and it is fine". This is not the kind of response we expected. He went on to say that if we didn't like the 2nd bottle of wine, we were not going to be able to return it. Again not something that I have witnessed before. Thankfully this time the wine was good. This waiter obviously needs some training on etiquette and customer service. It is a bit of a shame that the waiter left us with a bad taste and as such we will not be returning to the restaurant again.

Free parking on. Sunday which is good. The menu was great, which consisted of meat dishes, seafood dishes and curry dishes which varied between sweet and spicy. What we ordered was delicious and too pricey. Food was great. Service was great. Would go back again

I attended to my friend's birthday dinner at this restaurant. We had 3 courses dinner and wine. Food was very tasty, restaurant's interior ''posh'', staff looked after us very well. I definitely recommend this restaurant for my friends and family! <3
