Arrived hot. However, a lot of oil or water from the food, having to drain it off with kitchen roll.

Such a brilliant place to eat out. It was our first meal out during Covid and we felt very safe in there, socially distanced and staff were all in masks. The food was delicious an d the service so friendly. Will absolutely come back.

We walked around Newcastle Emlyn and saw that this restaurant had a 5 for scores on the doors, I always like to choose somewhere that has a 5 or at least a 4. To maintain a 5 star rating for Scores on the Doors is tough, so this grabbed my attention, Checking Tripadvisor then to see it was rated 2 out of the 14 restaurants in Newcastle Emlyn, this prompted us to walk back after a visit to the castle grounds close by.The review below by 'Helen' was concerning as it was critical and negative, however it turns out that 'Helen' was wrong. Three of us ate here and the total cost for 3 with non alcoholic drinks was less than a tenner more than Helen's "Expensive" experience ! (only 6 negative reviews versus the 260 excellent reviews, shows that this is a great place) !We were not sure if the restaurant was providing a seated meal service, due to the reception room having to be adapted to be Covid-safe for the takeaways. They certainly do, there are plenty of tables in the rooms to the back, with a nice spacious atmosphere.They have adapted their business well to be Covid-safe. We struggled to eat all of our food as there was so much, portions are perfect, as the naan and side of rice was more than enough to compliment.Thank you to Razal for your excellent service and attention to detail and Hatti?P.s Go look at the castle grounds near by.

Food was average. Smaller portions than any other Indian restaurant I have been. I’ve eaten in many Indian restaurants in Wales. This is by far the most expensive sit down I’ve been to yet. I wouldn’t mind paying over £55 for two starters, two mains, one rice and one nan if it was great food. But it was average and small portions. We left still feeling hungry. We nearly walked out when we walked in the front door. It was a disgrace. Luckily the restaurant behind was better decorated. Apart from the back yard/patio. Service was good. Staff were friendly. Food arrived quickly. But I wish I had gone to the local chippy. I think that Nahar is taking advantage of being only one of two Indian restaurants in Newcastle Emlyn, it would never survive in a bigger town serving those portions at those prices. When we visited, the other restaurant hadn’t reopened for sit downs. So I don’t know if these are over inflated prices because of the situation. Or if they are always so expensive on sit down

Excellent food, excellent service. We were staying in the area and always love a curry, so we tried this place for a take-out. Good move. The staff were helpful, and the food was excellent. Probably the best Indian meal we’ve had as a take-out. Good value too. Highly recommended.

Came with friends on a Friday evening and were seated after a short wait without booking. Service was excellent, as was attention to hygiene with a waiter providing hand sanitiser once we were seated. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was warm and cheerful. Will definitely be back next time I visit this lovely town!

Food was really tasty; and I've eaten many curries! Kids loved it also. Service was quick and well priced. Looks a little poor from outside but inside is fitted out really nicely.

We really enjoyed our night, we both had lovely food. Plenty of space to social distance. The waiter who serviced use (Alex) was very sweet and very helpful. The only thing I could comment on was the decor, looked a little run down and mismatched.

Our group of well seasoned curry munchers visited here recently.3 of our party had the chicken tikka masala and we all agreed it was a cross between a korma and a masala(far too much coconut in the sauce)and not the slightest bit of heat in the dish.The other curry house in Newcastle emlyn we visited on another occasion and their Masala sauce was equivalent to what you would find in good curry houses around the british Isles.Sauce is everything when presenting a dish So not as good as some are saying in reviews, maybe because they don't know any better.Also the portion sizes on the sides were on the small side and the egg fried rice was served cold x 3.Last but not least, like the other curry house in Newcastle emlyn the prices are a third more than better houses we've visited.We've never paid this much before and we can't help but feel that the excessive prices of the sides,(bread /rice etc) are the root cause.£45(with one beer)for what is essentially third world food is too much for a couple to pay.

Booked a family meal here as it was the only place with availibility in the area, can see why. Upon arrival we very nearly didn't go in as it looked so run down and grubby. You enter into a scruffy front room where takeaways are collected from which looks absolutely awful, however the restaurant itself is in the back and thankfully had been decorated far nicer. Staff were friendly and helpful, can't fault the service. Food arrived, was ok but not excellent. Ordered ice creams for dessert, were not the nicest, strange texture the children wouldn't eat. The prices were extortionate, and they were not participating in the eat out to help out scheme. The most expensive Indian restaurant Ive been too and not worth the money. Toilets were clean.

We had a take away meal which was ready for us to collect within 5 minutes of us arriving. It wasn't clear where we were to wait for our food to arrive. There was no hand sanitizer on entry. The restraint was being decorated so did not look too inviting. The food was lovely & staff very polite

Across the room from us was a couple having a mean and danging above them was a live wire that was hanging from the roofThe service was blunt and shortly worded (eg. They were just answer no/yes)There was no allergy menu or allergy indications on the menu. The staff were not educated on what the foods contained. I have quite a severe reaction to gluten and was told that if I ordered the "basic chicken" I would be fine. Right after leaving I had one of the worst reactions I have ever had and was forced to end my night short because of the pain. We found a hair in our food and the waitress told us she would get another for us. The man who brought the new food back to us was in workout gear covered in sweat like he just run a marathon When we entered they provide us with antibacterial but the track and trace book that was handed around was done without writing on it. This was handed around after we used the antibacWe order a 2x cokes and a gin lemonade. They came from a normal coke bottle and were watery and completely flat. The gin and lemonade had virtually no gin in too When ordering the gin we were refused pink gin because they were out even though I could see 2 full bottles In the 2 hours we were there the server didn't change his gloved once despite handeling case and food. I also noticed that a cook was wearing a nightie and none were wearing aprons, hairnets or gloves

Lovely food and friendly staff . We had a take away meal to go back to our holiday cottage and couldn’t fault it everyone enjoyed their meals .

We recently ate here whilst visiting the area. The food was just delicious and THE best peshwari naan I’ve ever had. The staff were so kind and friendly and it was a pleasure to support this local business post lockdown. Clearly a restaurant providing great food for the local community.

Just returned from a post lockdown road trip and took in Newcastle Emlyn on the way home. Family of four (2 children aged 10 and 7) and the bill was over £70 and we definitely didn’t go mad. Also if you want a view don’t eat here, this is the view from our table!

We visited Nahar for the first time this evening and decided to try the Sunday buffet menu. Both service and selection of food were excellent. We were very impressed with the quality of the food and wide selection of food and drinks available. We were made to feel very welcome by Russel who was very attentive with our order and we look forward to returning again soon. Many thanks for the pleasant evening out.

So curry is undeniably my favourite food and I’m not in the habit of leaving trip advisor reviews. I’m currently living in Harrow (North West London) and good Indian food is on every corner there. While visiting home, just outside Castell Newydd Emlyn, I thought I’d take a punt on Nahar. Well it payed off, the food was nothing short of exquisite, the service was quick and friendly and the bill was very fair! I am vegetarian and all of the dishes I sampled were great. There were, of course, plenty of meaty options too. I would absolutely recommend a visit, by far the best Indian food I’ve had in West Wales.

My favourite curry house in Emlyn. Always receive attentive & friendly service from the knowledgeable staff during our weekly visit. Food is delicious. Highly recommended.

Was there tonight for the Sunday Buffet, first time there and had no idea there was a way all you can Buffet for £9.95. There was a good selection of starters and a couple of rices and a few curry’s and vegetable dishes. The meat was great, although the table cloth was not clean. It’s great value, the staff are very friendly and attentive. There is parking down the side next to the back entrance or other side of the main toad near the castle so very convenient. Over all we were very happy and will go back again

This time of year in West Wales provides poor pickings for those looking for a decent meal out. Many restaurants & cafes close for staff holidays or refurbishment but sometimes that means you get to try somewhere you perhaps wouldn’t normally.

First Indian meal in two years since we moved here from the midlands . We used to go to Sparkbrook Birmingham regularly for Indian food . We moved to West Wales two years ago and thought we would venture out for a curry tonight. I am glad we did . We tried the Nahar resturant in Newcastle Emlyn . We were greeted by Kurtis who was an excellent host . Very friendly and efficient . The meal was really good , fresh ingredients, excellent service . Will definitely be revisiting. Thank you for great food .

Three of us went this evening, the staff were very attentive and we were served very quickly. The manager went above and beyond for us with his hospitality too. The food was amazing, fresh and plentiful. Would highly recommend, thanks!

We have eaten a lot of curry in many places over the years and the Nahar has to be near the top for variety and quality of cuisine and the superb customer service. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Excellent restaurant. We thought it was empty but the restaurant is through the front take away collection area and a large warm friendly welcome awaits. New to the area and thought we’d try Nehar. So glad we did. Great tasty Indian food, served promptly and our host was very polite and helpful. Recommended, we will be back soon!

Came into nahar for the first time for a sit down meal, must say it was amazing, great customer service and great food, Definitely will be coming back again.

Visited twice with my elderly father. Staff incredibly helpful and accommodating, reserving us a table with wheelchair access and always being friendly and proactive. Food excellent (I’ve had the delicious paneer shashlik twice, great to find places that do vegetarian tandoori). Highest recommendation.

Had some amazing food from here this evening! Among a family order, i ordered a Nepali mix masala which was accomodated for with no fuss (slightly off menu) and it's been a long time since i have been really satisified with the flavours from a decent curry. Tonight was spot on!

have had several takeaways and sit in, always a good tasty meal, some times in holiday season can be a small wait BUT WELL WORTH IT, staff very friendly If you like tandoori then mixed shashlik very tasty , great spiced - well worth a visit.

Been meaning to try this for a long time. Had several takeaways and always spot on, so decided to give the buffet a go. Really nice, everything very fresh and numerous choices to suit all tastes. Only thing I'd say is menu says dessert included but we were told it was extra, but worth the money anyway

We were visiting family and my Aunt suggested we go here for dinner. All of the dishes we ordered were very good, the Chef has won many awards. The only thing that annoyed me was that the staff didn’t seem too interested to serve us.

Four of us ate here this evening and all agreed that the food and service were exceptional. The suggested alternative to our usual preferences were welcome, accepted by each dinner and proved to be spot on.

The food is wonderful - we regularly have the Sunday evening buffet, which is exceptional value for money. Last Sunday we were the only table booked, so instead of setting out a large buffet, the waiters greeted us with poppadums, then a selection of starters, then asked what we would eat from the usual buffet. Withing minutes our table was laden with 6 or 7 dishes (for just the 2 of us) going so far as to omit peppers. The service and food was impeccable. It was an ideal solution to a quiet evening. Thankyou Nahar, we'll be back.

Rang at 5pm for a table at 8pm no issues at all lovely table not cramped food was absolutely fantastic couldn't finish it all. Very reasonable pricing will definitely be dining there again.

This restaurant was the best I've ever been to, one of the staff was particularly friendly. His name is Russel. He helped us with our food, he recommended food, which we all liked, and he gave us surprise food for desert which was mouth watering. Would definately come again

Went for a family birthday meal last night, Russel was a brilliant host giving advice for ordering and making sure we had everything we needed and extra lovely treatment for the birthday girl! Great choice of food and such good value for the portions which were all delicious! Lovely atmosphere for sit in meals, super service and very comfortable. Russel was fantastic and also our younger waiter James who is obviously learning from the best!

Not very busy when we called. Service was very good indeed very friendly and efficient. Selection and quality was good and food was served quickly and efficiently. Much bigger inside than it looks from outside.

One of the best meals I have ever had in any Indian restaurant. Nepalese Mixed tikka Chilli was amazing. chicken Tikka Chilli Marsala was superb. Peshwari NaN was soft and very very tasty. Will definitely return when in town next and spread the word.

Ordered a take away on our way home, promptly ready on arrival. Went for their special meal deal and ordered biriani. I asked whether it came with a veg curry and was informed it did. On arrival, it was missing. I don't know whether the meal included a veg curry or not, whether the person at the end of the phone fully understood what I was asking for or perhaps it was my mistake? I will ask them next time I order something from them. As a result, the meal was subsequently dry and I could not eat the extra breads I had ordered because of this. A waste of money really, but unsure whether this was my fault or not. Should have checked the take away bag before leaving! I was also disappointed in the chicken tikka as a starter.

Had a great dinner here last night with colleagues. Food was fantastic with some very interesting specials. Service was also top notch.

Let's begin to say I regularly go to this place once a week since a number of years.

We tried the Sunday buffet advertised at £9.95 for starter, main and dessert on the flyer we picked up, which seemed exceptional value. Our experience of buffets elsewhere has been in quite busy establishments so you then have the advantage of frequently cooked food and breadth of choice so in that respect, with only 2 other tables occupied, we were probably unlikely to be impressed here. The starters were ok, just a choice of 4, and the naan was ok, but disappointed that the chutneys were serve yourself from tupperware type containers. The mains were extremely poor examples of chicken dishes and seemed essentially to be pieces of meat in different coloured sauces and pretty anonymous in terms of flavour and character.

We decided to go here at the last minute. We were very happy we did. We were looked after by a lovely young man called Curtis, who was rushed of his feet as he was on his own but did a wonderful job. The meal was lovely, we all had something different and everyone of us was pleased. Would definitely go back.

Always have a good meal/takeaway from this place but Sunday night it was horrible. It tasted as though it had been re heated more than a few times.....Tried ringing to complain without broadcasting it and got a mouthful of abuse,.Always a first for everything and always a last too.

We had the best Indian meal that we’ve had for a long time in this real gem of a restaurant in Newcastle Emlyn. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Can’t recommend it enough.....we will definitely be going there again next time we are in the area.

Given the good reviews on Trip Advisor and the seemingly award winning chef working at this place it was, to be blunt, a let down.

We only have take out food here and not " sat in " for years .Really like the food here and recently had the veggie meal for two which was great value. Always helpful staff.

Fabulous food, but sadly our order was not correct, this is the third time we have experienced something wrong with the order. The saving grace is the food. It is always delicious. We will be returning, but please try to get our orders correct next time.

Visited again last week after almost a year away and the food is of the same consistently high quality as it was on our first visit. I have over 100 South Asian restaurants within two miles of my home so I'm REALLY fussy. This is up there with the best and it is no surprise that they are in the running for a number of local and national awards.

We have visited this restaurant in the past when staying in the area . This was some years back and we remembered it being very good . So we decided to go again as we were on holiday locally.

We have been to Nahar several times. The first time was to dine in but in all honesty the restaurant is tired and run down and lacks atmosphere. Such a shame as the food is great. We now order takeaway instead so have great food at home

We were passing through New Castle Emlyn and stopped here for a spur of the moment meal. Fantastic food and excellent service. I had the Yasmins Special - a yummy mixture of all the meats. Quite pricey but excellent flavours.

Went on a Sunday evening really wish we hadn't it was dreadful, should have walked out after looking around but had a long day and was hungry, it was a buffet but was wasteful, the staff's children were running around the restaurant, the toilets were dirty, give it a miss .

First visit for us even though we have been holidaying in the area for years.

This was our first visit and boy were we please with everything!!! . The staff greeted us very warmly and were taken to our seats without delay. We all had the Buffet so ordered the drinks and tucked in ....WOW !!! Fabulous food well laid out and all piping hot and tasted fantastic. Thanks For A Lovely Meal We Shall Be Back.

It wasn't a very busy evening and we were served quite quickly, the 2 waiters on duty were very good. We have eaten in dozens of Indian restaurants and would only rate this as average, there wasn't anything wrong with the food but it just didn't get our highest rating.

We booked a table for the Sunday buffet for 4 adults and 5 children and were a bit worried as a few of the children are quite fussy but there was plenty of choice and all the food was very tasty and it was lovely to see a varied curry choice inc lamb jalfrezi which was my favourite, starters and sides were also very nice, poppadoms were included and i would also like to thank the staff who were fab even though it was very busy and they could have done with more help

This was a brilliant takeaway meal, the flavours, consistency and options were very good - perhaps one of the best takeaway curries I've ever tasted.

After reading reviews on here we decided to give the takeaway a try. Ordered on the phone for 7 people. If order is over £10 you get 10% discount on takeaway. Collected half an hour later as we were told to do. Maybe my expectations were too high, but this was very disappointing, the onion bhajis were very greasy, the chips were skinny fries and cold when collected, husbands vindaloo was ok, lamb bhuna was tasteless and the kormas were so sweet i think they had poured a bag of sugar into them, the 3 who had korma all left the majority as it was so sweet.

Had a curry here at the Nagar and all was cooked ok and was tasty. Would come back here another time. Also they do a buffet on Sunday at a good price.

We often eat here as its our go to Indian to eat in and take away. Always great service and food. Fresh, and with great flavour. Nothing is too much trouble.

This is our second visit and we had a lovely meal on Monday with excellent service. We were not hurried and the curry did taste of various spices accompanied by a lovely bottle of wine.

We are on a holiday and tried to order a takeaway. The person on the end of the phone and would not even listen when we tried to explain the address. Very rude and will not try again. Clearly business is so good they don’t want anymore.

Food okay service rubbish. Waiters (british) rubbish. Had bottle of wine plonked on table no wine glasses. Order taken, mix up to wether what we had ordered was a main or starter even though we had stated to "begin with" so she starts writting it...
