Nags Head Inn in North West Leicestershire

I have visited this pub many times over the last few years and have always been pleased by the quality of the food on offer and the excellent service provided by the staff - nothing seems too much trouble.

Good meal and nice surroundings in the restaurant area. Pleasant attentive staff

Stopped here for lunch just down from East Midlands runway very convenient for a bite to eat or a drink. Lovely food, lovely staff and nice little pub inside and out. Will call back again when we are next in the area soon I hope.

Nice local pub with great food, had the Mexican burger which was very nice and massive, service was fast and pleasant for both drinks and food. Nice indoor area as well as outdoor area for when the weather is nice.

This excellent pub serves tasty, freshly cooked food and caters well for large parties. All the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and you are not overcrowded. They catered for my Mother-in-law's 100th Birthday party and it was amazing, I can't fault them.

Brilliant pub! Great, consistently good quality food, friendly staff and Pedigree!! "The Boys" Group of 5 to 12 of us go there most Wednesdays, used to go round different pubs, but since we found the Nags decided it was so good why go anywhere else! including Christmas do of 20 of us... says it all.!

Very nice Pub. Been visiting here of a lunchtime for a year or two now and always enjoyed the good variety of well prepared meals and easy atmosphere. They also keep a very nice pint of pedigree, served by the excellent staff.

Great pub with friendly service and good food. Went for lunch with a big group and they served everything speedily. The beer was good too! Still as good as ever! Went back today.

The chef promised me the best roast I'd ever tasted and he wasn't wrong. All our dietary needs were catered for including the best Vegan Sunday roast I've ever seen, we were even able to get a take away for a family member who wasn't able to join us. Even though it was busy we were served quickly by the very friendly staff. Well done 10/10

Came here for Sunday lunch. I’m vegan - my friend isnt. The food was delicious. Both very well catered for. In fact - I’ve never been anywhere where I’ve had such a fantastic vegan roast. Yorkshire pudding, mash. Roasties wellington veggies. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely return. Only sad that I didn’t have room for pudding after eating so much lunch .

Excellent meal tonight at The Nags Head. Me and the husband out for our wedding anniversary, he is vegetarian while I am vegetarian and coeliac. Could not fault the service, the meal or the price. The waiter was very attentive, answered any questions about my requirements for a gluten free meal. I had the Mushroom Spinach and Artichoke Lasagne and it was the best gluten free Lange I have ever had! Asked our server to pass on our compliments to the chef, who then came out to chat. What a lovely touch. Thanks for a fabulous meal, despite the thunder and lightning & rain, it was a lovely evening. We will be back !

Four of us just had lunch here today, Wednesday. Well we all had different meals, and each one was fab and plentiful. The gammon was huge, nearly ate it tho with a little help. Everything was great and we highly recommend. Perfect, good choice rather than eat rubbish at east midlands at extortionate prices. Well run, great service.

I joined a large group for dinner and was impressed by the welcome and service. Nice pint of Pedigree (well 2 actually) accompanied an ample plateful of farmers sausage with all the trimmings. Had enough to eat so declined a dessert but many friends tucked in and said they enjoyed them also. Very happy to go back next time in the area.

Had a booking cancelled at last minute elsewhere and the Nags Head staff could accommodate 7 of us last minute. Nice surroundings, friendly staff especially Harry . Food was excellent and we will be using this Inn again.

I took 7 of my Grandchildren here for their dinner as they were having a sleepover at mine and all wanted different dishes; the staff here were so helpful, brought the drinks to our table and made sure everything was as ordered. Their children’s meals were freshly cooked and made of quality ingredients, and massive portions. First class, I’ll definitely come back but the childrens sleepover will be an annual thing not monthly 😂

Beautiful traditional pub and restaurant, dog friendly with a great atmosphere inside or for us on this warm sunny evening with tables outside also we chose that option. Partner had prawn cocktail starter and 8oz sirloin steak main whilst for me it was fried mushrooms in a chili garlic sauce with warm chiabatta bread, then smothered chicken, chips, salad and onion rings as main. Excellent 👌

Held a surprise 60th for my husband. The staff went above and beyond. Couldn't do enough for us. Fantastic service and food. Thanks for making his day special.

Booked a table for 9 of us for dinner. the food was excellent, the service and staff were first rate, and it was a thoroughly great experience. Nothing could have been better.

I've had there to good to go carvery a couple of times now and it's very nice. Lots of food for a amazing price. Problem is there is only 5 meals up for grabs each week so you have to be extremely quick to grab one. I don't know why the pub doesn't do a carvery takeaway each week especially with how quickly theses meals go and especially for theses people like myself that live on there own. There as got to be a market out there for them with how quickly the to good to go meals get purchased. I definitely would purchase one and I'm sure alot more people would as well.

A little disappointing really, wine glasses had lipstick stains and water drops as had been left to drain. WIndows needed a new window cleaner, you couldn't see out of them. BUT the food was good and reasonably priced. A little more attention to detail would have been appreciated.

Stopped here on a walk with the dog, friendly place and plenty of space outside. Dog friendly which is also a bonus. Slight lack of craft beers but that's my thing.

It has a lovely atmosphere, served in ten minutes! Everyone enjoyed their exceptional meals. Front of house was the best I've ever seen, even remembering our whole drinks order without a pad, and after we changed a couple of our drinks!

Brillant service this evening at 5PM from Carol and the young lad serving food and the steak was the best steak ive had in a long time and the service was super quick... So i highly reccomend this pub to others

Great halfway stop off to the North. Lovely lady served us very efficiently and the food was very good. We all had different meals and the service was quick. Just what we needed after a 2 hour drive with another 2 hours to go.

Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient, really nice people. Food was OK but frozen chips is always a no no for me personally. Apologies in advance to the lovely people but the back rooms (we were in the Chevalier room) were devoid of atmosphere. They have obviously made a lot of effort decorating but hard flooring and utility type furniture don't do it for me.

I have never had food so good. The timing was excellent and the staff were really lovely and pleasant. What a great pub! Will definitely be back for more

We called in yesterday for lunch, the staff were very friendly so were the locals, food was lovely even our dog got a couple of treats from the Land lady, next time we are at Donnington race circuit we will definitely call in.

This was the first time we'd been to the Nag's Head but it definitely won't be the last. As a gf vegetarian I was so looked after with the chef/manager they took the time to call after we'd booked to go through what they could offer and made an additional dish especially so I had more choice! The others in our party were well catered for too, the steak of the day went down particularly well!

Every time I have been in (either with friends or on a date with my partner) the atmosphere has been brilliant! Food has always been perfect for our tastes and served within a timely manner. The steak deal is also fantastic All staff, whenever I have attended, have been polite, accommodating, friendly and over all excellent. Very friendly and efficient staff - food was lovely - had the steak sandwiches. Sirloin was cooked as we requested, and very generous. Everything piping hot, and served quickly.

Food was good. Staff were overly casual " my head's not in it today" "pino, sav or chard" room was cold and over right lighting. OK but won't be back in a while.

Family get together and my Brother booked the Nags Head. Great menu choice for us but I think they were short handed alone of our dishes was missed. All sorted in the end 😊

Overall found the Nags Head very comfortable and the service excellent. However found the portion sizes on the specials board were not so good. Ordered the 8oz sirloin steak with fries etc for £11.00 which seemed very very reasonable but unfortunately a third of the steak was gristle and the salad on the plate was well disappointing to say the least, 2 small lambs ears, half a slice of cucumber and half a slice of tomato says it all. Which proves that you do get what you pay for. Of the other guests that went with us, one said the tuna salad was excellent and the spaghetti bolognese was quite good too. So not all bad.

Visited for my husbands birthday on 18th November with about 26 friends and family. The service was brilliant, and the staff were so welcoming it made it a very homely and relaxed party. I can not praise them enough. The meal or the clearing of tables was not rushed. Our guests had come from all over the country, and they all commented on how nice the food was and the people serving it. Thank you all it made a memorable day.

We were in Castle Donnington for our daughter’s wedding. Family started arriving the night before, so we needed to find somewhere to feed 19 people. The Nags Head said they could accommodate us so we booked. We didn’t expect to all be seated together, so when we arrived to find a large section reserved for us and tables arranged together we were so grateful and knew we had made the right choice. Our server (so sorry can’t remember her name) was friendly, attentive and efficient, a real credit to The Nags Head. Drinks were flowing, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was fabulous. All the meals arrived together, hot and freshly prepared. Drinks arrived without delay. Thank you to the whole team for making the evening a huge success. Would definitely recommend The Nags Head and will certainly go back.

My partner and I are both vegan. I had the Big V Stack and my partner the beetroot burger, we were both impressed! Tasted lovely and had incredibly quick service (5-10 minutes, tops). Definitely will come again.

Very friendly staff who were extremely accommodating for our two boys. The food was tasty and the portion sizes were extremely generous (Sunday Carvery).

My father-in-law has been going to this pub for decades, and introduced us to it a few years ago. It is a lovely pub with great food and beer. Sadly he passed a few weeks ago, so we decided to hold the wake in his honour at the Nags Head. Cindy and her team were magnificent, opening the pub to us all. They laid on a delicious spread, and couldnt do enough to help us through this emotional time. We gave my father-in-law a send off that he would have loved. We will, of course continue visiting and enjoying this lovely pub with our family and friends.

Amazing place! Asked for my burger to be extra hot and was presented with the most delicious and unbelievably spicy dish! A burger topped with a Carolina Reaper! Amazing. Should definitely be put on the menu! Not only is the food excellent, the staff are welcoming and attentive and the whole place has a vibrant and warm atmosphere, great evening!

Fabulous 👌 food here is very tasty and always piping hot. The portion size is great. I had a tuna salad and this came on a long plate but full to the brim of salad, big chunks of tuna,sauce and olives. Then on Tuesday this week, me,my daughter,my partner and his daughter went for lunch. I had the mushroom and artichoke lasagna wow amazing with chips and garlic bread. I think it was about £14 but well worth it. We also ordered Scampi,Hunters Chicken and off the kids menu my daughter who has a small appetite fish fingers,chips and beans. You must try this venue out. Lovely garden area on the decking at the front undercover but also an additional extension to the original pub for when it's not so good weather. There are parking spaces to the rear but not many but parking on Diseworth Road is OK. And they do Birra morretti shandy too whoooo. Great friendly team, very polite and great service. 👍

We called in for a coffee. It was a friendly pub and our coffers were bought in with a smile. However I don't think we would ever eat here as it was rather expensive. I looked on the website for food choices and prices. £41. For a mixed grill . Sorry but we can get it at half the price elsewhere and fresh made.

Great staff, excellent selection of beers and awesome food - the steaks and (homemade) burgers are really worth a try. Visited the place a few months back. The staff were friendly and attentive, the beer was cold and crisp and the food was delicious (I had a burger and chips because Lee is too lazy to do Ploughman's Platters at night 😁 ) and reasonably priced. Also there's plenty of parking behind the pub. Lekker like a cracker

The tall blonde, I believe his name was Harry served our table. He was intuitive and very polite! Made my stay at the Nags head better than I could’ve wished and will definitely recommend to my friends and family, also expect to return promptly! Please give the staff the appreciation which they deserve as they are working above and beyond the common expectation.
