This was a very pleasant experience but can’t class it as exceptional for the price. Service was great and each of the 9 courses explained. Just felt the wow factor on flavour wasn’t quite there. However other reviews say different so guess you need to make your own mind up.

The food, service, atmosphere, wine (and Guiness) were all exceptional. The staff could not be more considerate. Lovely touch to have discreet cards describing each course as well as being told verbally. Anna’s book is also well worth buying. Thank you Myrtle for such an enjoyable late lunch. Heather Eaton

We had heard of the impressively capable Anna Haugh through a Radio interview, and as Dubliners who visit London twice a year (for Football Matches) & enjoy at least one fairly upmarket "Night Out", we thought we would give "Myrtle" a try : we were far from disappointed ! This is a fairly compact Restaurant, with an attractive frontage. We were warmly received, and the friendly Manager, Ian K, gave us a good Table on the ground-floor, as we had requested. The choices as regards Food were a 6 Course, a 9 Course or an A La Carte Menu : we went with the first of these, and were extremely pleased with our choice - the Chef/Owner generously allowed us substitute an alternative for the 1st Course, as neither of us are "Soup Fans". Our favourite Course was the third one : "Poached Wild Sea-Bass in burnt Irish Butter", which was superbly tasty + cooked to perfection. For drinks, we started with a Glass of the House Sancerre for myself & a Kir for my Wife (slight problems with explaining the difference between an ordinary Kir and a Kir Royale) and we followed with an excellent Bottle of Falanghina. As Irish people, supportive of our fellow Dubliner Anna, we were slightly worried as to how noticeable the "Irish Twist" might be here : as regards the Food content it was great, the brown soda-bread presented in a white Paper Bag is an extremely bad idea in a Restaurant at this level, and the "Music Box" playing of "When Irish Eyes are Smiling" at the amusingly-titled "Milseán" stage is painful, but may well entertain "Plastic Paddies". We appreciated that the capable, personable & impressive Anna came around and warmly engaged with us, and we also record our thanks to Ian + José Le Cúnamh Dé, we'll be back !

Superb lunch. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Ian , the manager, engaged well . I am in my seventies. My wife and I loved eating in good restaurants and following her death I continue to eat out . Ian and Danny made me feel so welcome. Often you feel slightly awkward sitting alone but the opposite was the case in Myrtle . It was like being a guest in their house and I really appreciated that . The food was very good and I will unhesitatingly eat there whenever I am in London. On another note if you enjoy a master at work observe Danny . What an asset to the restaurant he is .

We had the Hake and The Beef as mains brilliant presentation and flavor. Thank you all you made it a great night for our friend. Been looking forward to visiting Anna Haughs Myrtle restaurant for a while and admire this chef. We had the 6 course tasting menu. The food is inspired and a new twist on Irish cuisine. We started with Bia Beag (mouse butcher) which was delicious. Unfortunately mine was taken away before I was actually finished. The initial service was a bit rushed but improved as restaurant got busier. The food was amazing and Daniel a great asset to the restaurant. We loved the 15s dessert. Very nice food and absolutely fantastic service. Sorry I didn't get your name but the Irish manager was brilliant. Food was very very nice though plating could be better. Waiters not servicing the lady at the table first is a cardinal sin. My Lady always comes first. Also, leaning over the table to place plates is not acceptable at this level. Move around the table and serve from the side. We realise this is a small venue so serving from left/right doesn't matter but leaning across the customer isn't acceptable

Must say the aubergine based dish was outstanding along with our other all time favourites including the Wicklow potato pancake and veggie take on Clonakilty back pudding. I had been looking forward to dining at Anna Haugh's restaurant for over a year! On arrival we were greeted in a friendly manner. We had a small table in the main dining area. There was no ambience as you would expect. I come from West Cork in Ireland, so I was so excited to visit Myrtle restaurant. My husband had bought a £200 voucher. Once we had chosen our wine and had an extra course of an oyster each, our wine was £128 a bottle. The food was good, but not value for money. I can buy Clonakilty black pudding cheaply at my supermarket ! I felt that we were expected to spend more than our voucher. I can't help feeling that , as there were only 3 tables occupied, the staff needed us to spend as much as possible. It wasn't the experience I was expecting. Anna Haugh has gone way down in my expectations. I have heard her say that she admired Myrtle Allen so much. I don't think this is how Myrtle Allen would look after her customers. We won't be returning.

This is comfortably in my top 3 favourite fine dining restaurants in London. The tasting menu is great value for money and not a single dish disappointed. The pacing is just right and the service is warm and un-fussy; this restaurant feels cozy and relaxed in a nice break from many fine dining places. The portions are well judged and we were left full but able to finish everything - they are also very generous with the petit fours! Outstanding. The food here is a literal labour of love, the care and attention to detail for each course was superb. I'd recommend the tasting menu without question with the Bia Beag and the venison loin being the stars of the show. The loin is near perfection and served with kale done as you've never had before. Coupled with engaged and attentive service this was a first rate dining experience. I see a couple of reviews comment that the portions are small, we had the 8 course tasting menu and we ended the evening very satisfied. I do think that taster menus mean portions won't be enormous given the number of courses. We thought that the menu offered really good value for money - you might get bigger plates in some places, but rarely as good, and we left feeling very well fed indeed.

My friend and I have a firm tradition of going to a nice place in London once a month. We have our favourites but always include new places to try out and this week we went to Myrtle. We'd heard great things. Hidden away in Chelsea it does take some planning to get there from central London but the trip is totally worth it. Everything you've read is true. The staff are genuinely nice and not pretentious in any way. The sommelier is charming and thoughtful, and the cocktails from the bar are spot on. Then to the food - oh my!! Every little detail on the plate has thought behind it. Each element has a singular flavour and adds to the overall dish. It not only looks beautiful, it also tastes divine. And there is a story behind each plate. You are really getting an all round experience. Worth every penny. As a little special touch Anna Waugh actually came up to say hello and we talked about lasting friendships and the power of truth. We are going back and bringing others. You should go too.

My wife and I wanted to book up a restaurant in London for a tasting menu. The one we fancied (no name mentioned) was in our mind just a stupid price. We looked on line and saw Anna Haugh's Myrtle restaurant. We liked the look of her 8 course tasting menu and felt that £95 was a reasonable price. From the minute we called the restaurant to book we knew we had made a good choice. We got to through to a gentleman called Daniel (more about this gentleman later). He was super helpful and friendly over the phone making the booking extremely easy. We booked for a 6 o clock sit down so was one of the first people in the restaurant. Once in our seat a lady came over to us to ask about drinks. She was ver helpful and very informative about the wine list. Then a gentleman camper to to our table. He introduced him self as Daniel and started to inform us about all the different menus on offer. We informed him that we had decided on the 8 course tasting menu. Dish after dish came up, each one both perfectly cooked and fantastically tasteful. We could not fault a single thing. Each course was served up by Daniel where he explained everything about the food, ie where it was from, how it was cooked. He also put on a little card on the table to explain the origins of the food. My wife is not a fan of Horseradish which was in one of the dishes. So the chef cooked her something different. We were very impressed with this. I would just like to say now that Daniel (we later found out he is the manager) is as good a front of house as I have ever known. If I was in the restaurant game I would be employing him straight away. I can see how some people may think the price if over expensive. But I honestly think it is worth every penny both for the quality of food and service. Our compliments to all the front and back of staff there for making our evening very enjoyable. We will defiantly be back in the future.

Ambience 10/10 Service 10/10 Quality of food and wine 10/10 Friendliness of staff 10/10 So why "Sadly Disappointed"? We’ve eaten at Myrtle before and although we’ve always thought the portions were on the small side, on this occasion small was taken to a new level. As ever the food delicious and Anna Haugh is a fantastic chef, but sadly there simply wasn’t enough food on the each plate to justify the cost of the evening. We chose the 6-course tasting menu at £85. There is an 8-course menu for just an extra £10 (2nd starter and desert), but neither of us are big desert fans so eating two was of no interest. For us the biggest issues was #1 and #6, neither of which we'd call an actual course. As said all the food was delicious and was beautifully cooked and presented, it’s just that each course literary could be consumed in two mouthfuls. We fully understand the pressures the hospitality industry has and continues to face (Brexit/Covid) and don’t see these pressure easing in the foreseeable future, sadly however, I don’t see us returning or recommending Myrtle to friends. It appears the restaurant has been a huge success and we’re very pleased for Anna and her hard working team. We just felt it was extremely poor value for money. Highlight of the evening was the super friendly and knowledgeable sommelier.

To say Myrtle exceeded expectations would not do it justice. Obviously with its reputation we were going with high hopes, but the evening was so much better than we expected. What makes the restaurant is not a single element, but it’s the entire team and their passion for what they are doing. The restaurant is reasonably small, but very nicely finished and tables reasonably spaced. The welcome is friendly and this feeling of being welcomed stayed throughout the evening and the key is it was so obviously genuine. The menu is very well thought about, ingredients excellent and all gels together perfectly. When served it is spoken about with passion and the wine selection while reasonably small is excellent and works very well. If the location was slightly better for us we would be there all the time, as it is it will have to remain a treat, but I would venture to say that from a value proposition for what you get and the quality of the food combined with such great service it is actually hard to think of somewhere I have enjoyed more. In a world where so many restaurants are about a conveyer belt approach or staff are going through the motions, Myrtle stands out for is passion for what it is doing, an authentic taste of Ireland in the heart of Chelsea. Anna Haugh has managed to assemble a team who share her passion for what she is doing, and it shines through as what a restaurant can and should be like. Long may she stay true to her values!

Thoroughly disappointed I’m afraid. Was really looking forward to going. Would urge anyone planning to go to read the several 3 star reviews before booking, they all echo the sentiment we had leaving there. Spent £200 a head on the tasting menu with pairings and left there very very hungry, the portions are TINY. The fourth course (the main, main) was a couple of slices of beef measuring 2 inch x 2 inch x 1/4 inch served with 9 (yes, 9…) kernels of corn. Chicken was exceptionally dry. First course was served on an upside down ramekin. Desert was jam on a spoon. The flavour combinations were nothing to write home about. Utterly dumbfounded. Our server was really lovely, and I feel really bad drawing attention to this because of that - there was a serious BO problem, perhaps had just cycled into work or something. Very unpleasant considering our heads are all armpit height when sat down. Venue itself was tired. I’m really trying hard for some redeeming qualities here and coming up trumps, it was nice that the menu was separated by regions of Ireland, that’s all I’ve got. I’m a resident of the area and in that location there are dozens and dozens of better options at a much lower price point, and at that price point, this restaurant doesn’t stand up at all.

Went for (evening) tasting menu. Very good food, mostly impressive and fairly original – but not quite Michelin star standard, despite being quite pricey. Wine flight was very generous (too much so – felt quite drunk by the end), but not top quality (and not always well paired with the food). Service was pretty good, but not very personable. Atmosphere/setting was nice and refined but felt slightly dated.

If you have only one night left in London, or even on Earth, entrust your evening to Myrtle; you will never forget it either. Chef Anna Haugh and her team have created an experience that combines all of the elegance, creativity, and finesse of the finest dining with the warmth and comfort of a good friend's home (if that home was gorgeous and thoughtfully appointed down to the smallest detail). We particularly enjoyed the smoked mackerel appetizer and the dingle pie, but really, every dish we ate stood out for its inventiveness, freshness, visual beauty, and execution (including our friend's sweetbreads and the green sauce on the lovely amuse bouche). The menu changes frequently, according to what's in season, so entrust yourself to the chef's taste and expertise (and let them know a couple days ahead of time if you'd like the tasting menu but need a dietary accommodation). It was particularly nice to have a savoury dessert available, of warmed bleu cheese with delicious chutney and soda bread crackers. We were thrilled to see that, on a Tuesday night just after the August bank holiday, Chef Anna herself was directing the kitchen. We've been following her work for years from far away in Vancouver, and were so grateful that she came upstairs to thank us and the other diners herself. We will never forget our evening there and wish you a similar experience.

We ate at Myrtle yesterday evening and it was by far one of the best dining experiences we’ve had. We had the tasting menu and every single dish was out of this world, the beef being the stand out dish. They were able to accommodate dietary requirements and there were good non alcoholic options for those of us who weren’t drinking. From the decor to the cutlery to the music playing- including Aslan and Ireland’s Eurovision winning song ‘The Rock ‘n’ Roll Kids’, it felt a bit like being back home:) This is a very special restaurant and we will definitely be back.

The service was good - the waiter was prompt and present. There were only three tables eating so perhaps to be expected but he did a good job. We did the tasting menu and unfortunately were just quite underwhelmed by it. The beef dish was very nice and it all tastes fine. But I think that sums up the whole thing; just "fine". Some of the dishes really lacked anything special (e.g. smoked salmon with a soft cream cheese and cucumber). It tasted nice but something I've seen being served in pretty normal restaurants or pubs. On top of the disappointment with the food, the restaurant itself felt quite tired. To go to the bathrooms you come downstairs where in front of you is a stained curtain that must be separating off a storage room. The bathroom itself had some holes in the wall and tape on the back of the door We were perhaps expecting more especially given the price. The tasting menu was £95 pp (which had recently increased we think?) And with service and some wine it came to over £280 for two people. We understand the current costs of everything are increasing and it is an incredibly difficult time for restaurants. However similarly for us this was a huge amount of money that we had saved for this special occasion. It was just a shame that the experience didn't match up to what we had hoped.

Our experience quickly went from excited and relaxed to mildly annoyed and finally disappointed. The tasting menu was unremarkable, and if it wasn’t for the short stories that accompanied some of the courses, it would have been very difficult to find a link to their Irish heritage. The desserts were particularly disappointing: some sweet cream on top of a teaspoon of raspberry jam and a chocolate mousse on a bit of sponge that could easily be made at home. The portions were small and despite the multiple courses we came away feeling a bit hungry. We also noticed that the couple next us, also having the tasting menu, we’re served 3 slices of beef for the main course, compared to our two. Apart from one server, the front of house staff were austere and a little rude. I was asked by the sommelier if I was over 18 (I am 30 and was sat with my fiancé) before being given the wine we ordered. This was clumsy and quite embarrassing in the intimate space as other diners easily overheard. A poor start to the meal. The wine list was interesting but pricey with a glass of champagne starting at £22 and a bottle of red wine starting at £50-60. We felt this did not match the average quality of the food and atmosphere of the restaurant. We chose a nice wine for £75 per bottle (average price £20 when we looked it up) and quite frankly we’re pleased we didn’t choose anything more expensive after having eaten the food. We were brought our bill before we had finished the petit fours and it was obvious they wanted us to leave. The decor was ok but looking a bit worn (especially the loos) and my fiancé was sat next to an AC fan all night which blowed on him.

Food was flawless, absolutely delicious. But for me, sadly, that didn’t compensate for the painfully slow service. We had the tasting menu and as I said, the food was incredible. I don’t often feel compelled to write reviews but felt tonight warranted it. The restaurant didn’t seem busy (it was a Tuesday evening) and yet we waited from 20 to 27 minutes between the first 5 of 8 courses that were each very small and took us a maximum of 5 minutes each to eat. I took photos of each plate as they arrived so I’m not exaggerating on the timings. We were both just hungry and got a bit fed up. After course 4 I did ask the waiter very politely if things could be sped up a little but not much changed and we waited almost 30 minutes for course 5. The desserts came faster but it seemed that was mainly because they could more easily have been pre-plated. Anna herself was there tonight so we were quite surprised at just how slow the meal was. I was a bit disappointed that after it had all taken so long, no money was removed from the bill. Perhaps I should’ve asked for service to be deducted but I didn’t really want to be that person, and they should’ve done the right thing and offered it as a gesture of goodwill. I’m afraid based on our experience this evening I wouldn’t return.

Excellent food and service. Very intimate restaurant with a low number of covers. If all adds to the experience and means they achieve top service. We tried the tasting menu. Personally, I thought the chocolate dessert was a little underwhelming but every other dish was fantastic. The beef dish was my particular favourite but all of them were special. The bread is also lovely and the black pudding snack is a must try. We all felt the quality of the food and service for the price of the tasting menu was great value.

I wanted to love it but somehow the overall experience fell slightly short and not sure why! The food was delicious and beautifully presented, a couple of dishes were outstanding and truly memorable…. The poached smoked oyster and the boxty in particular, desserts were a slight let down but still good. The service was ok but not much more than that. Overall ambiance lacked, it was very quiet and none of the staff gave the impression of liking their job! Music coming up the stairs from the kitchen, it would be better if it was played in the restaurant itself and might help create atmosphere. No reasonably priced wines…. Why is this a thing with all fine dining restaurants, very frustrating. Overall though it was still a lovely special occasion meal and considering the quality of the food and location, the tasting menu is actually good value.
