Had a really lovely time at this restaurant, which we just cam across whilst walking through Leciester Sqaure. We arrived about 11:15/11:30 and meant we caught their breakfast menu, which was reasonably priced at c.£8.50 for Muriel's breakfast special and aroud £9 for full English. Decor is fun and quirky, service excellent, especially Tomaz. All in a lovely experience.

I ate here with some friends who where visiting from the midlands on a day trip. We had lunch on a busy Saturday. Service was fairly quick and adequate. Food was ok. I had calamari to start which was fabulous, it was freshly cooked and the batter was crisp and my friend had the mushroom bruschetta which I am told was very tasty too. The main was not as thrilling though. I had the spicy lamb koftas. The lamb was very bland and was not really spicy at all and the cous- cous was extremely dry and with no flavour. My friends had the lasagne, which was average in flavour and appearance, and the fish and chips, which were nice but a very small portion size. Overall it was a nice meal but a bit too tasteless for us.

I have been here before and wanted to take my younger sister here when she was visiting recently. I love the chairs that swing from the ceiling so although they were taken, I suggested that if we could wait, she'd love to sit at those. The waiter who greeted me was utterly confused and suggested this couldn't be done. As I said again, we were happy to wait. The supervisor (I assume) heard and came over who after explaining decided to ask me "how old are you?!" It was actually quite insulting. So, although he said to come back in 20 minutes, I felt too embarrassed to return as I felt like they'd be talking about me and didn't really want them to handle my food after that! Not great, will not return.

We stopped in Muriel's for dinner before a show in one of the numerous theatres in the Leicester Square area. From the menu, we were expecting something like a British TGIF. But some of the dishes sounded more inventive (the butternut squash, spinach, pesto & cashew pizza that I ordered, for instance). Everything was served just fine, and everything came with all the ingredients mentioned in the menu. But sometimes they didn't come together as a dish. My pizza, for instance, had all the separate tastes, but it was missing some quintessential pizza-ness and, in the end, didn't fully work. Our drinks -- a hard cider and a pale Ale made by a 500+ year old monastery in the north of England -- saved the day. Both were fine, and we lingered over them for quite some time.

Found this place via Google and liked the variety of the menu. We all really enjoyed our food, very delicious, the service was spot on, and the waiters were very friendly. However 2 negatives, 1st they have so many tables crammed in that's it's a squeeze to get to and from your table. 2nd I found the ladies toilets to be quite disgusting, with loo roll everywhere except on a roll where you need it. There was a sign saying they were frequently checked but I found that hard to believe, as I went in as soon as I arrived and before I departed and they were in the same state.I would definitely eat here again though on my next visit to London.

My wife and I had breakfast here while waiting for the TKTS booth to open in Leicester Square. Expectations were low due to the location, possibly the busiest tourist spot in London. Greatly surprised by the quality of the food. My omelet was large, cooked well and very tasty. My wife had a Nutella and bannana waffle along with fresh orange juice which she thoroughly enjoyed. Our waitress, AnaMaria, was very friendly and helpful and made the experience even more pleasurable. A very pleasant surprise.

I love Muriel's ! The decor inside is very cosy, welcoming and warm...just invites you to sit down and have a nice cup of tea or coffee, eat something delicious and read a newspaper. Today I sat outside cause of the lovely weather, watched people passing by and listened to some good calm music played by a street singer...everything just fitted perfectly. I had the pancakes at the recommendation of David ( my waiter ,big thanks by the way ) and they were delicious. My black Americano was served in a very cute blue cup with the Muriel's logo on it and I must say I adore it. They could make souvenirs like this cup to be sold to the customers like me, for sure they would be successful :) . Service was impeccable, although the terrace was fully crowding with people trying to find a table in the sun and as for the prices, for sure are normal considering the location, the service and the quality of food. This place just became one of my favourites.

Fantastic place in Leicester Square to visit - I had walked past it many times when being in London and wanted to go in, and with it being my birthday trip away I suggested we could go here for breakfast. I absolutely loved the decor, so cute and quirky and we were even offered to sit on hanging chairs, which we opted not to as they weren't the steadiest! Our waiter was very kind and friendly from start to finish. He checked on us a few times to see if we needed any more tea, if our breakfasts were OK, etc. I ordered a full English breakfast and my boyfriend had pancakes, and we both really enjoyed our food. It was quiet when we were in there but I assume it gets busy in the afternoons. Would 100% visit again. Thank you for a lovely birthday breakfast :)

Having read previous review s I'm surprised. Maybe they've done staff training. I came with my sister, on her recommendation, for a cup of tea. We sat in the quaint swing chairs at the front. The place is massive which kind of belies the homely feel. However our tea was served efficiently. When I wanted more milk I got it. I had a custard tart (£2.50 to take out) which was £3.50 - extortionate - I should have checked price. The place was very empty. Only one other couple on I think. Ok for a cup of tea when staff not pushed.

Consigliato!

my friend and I went in to eat here Tuesday evening 1st September. We asked for a table for two and we're seated in the restaurant. It was very quiet inside, only one other table of approx six people. We had both decided what to eat and waited to be served, we waited and waited. After about 15 minutes we hadn't had a waiter come and even ask for our drink order. We noticed there were 4 waiters stood together by the bar talking. My friend suggested we went to ask one of them to take our order. By this time I had developed a bad feeling for the place. Given how empty it was inside, it was 7pm so one would expect to see a few more dinners and the lack of service, I suggested we left. We stood up to leave, walked out and the waiting staff didn't even seem to notice. Went to another resturant very near by, this resturant was very busy with lots of other dinners and we had excellent service. I don't think I will return to Muriel's kitchen again.

My partner had the 8 oz cheeseburger which he enjoyed, and I had the chicken piri piri burger which was good apart from the chicken was a bit overcooked and therefore rather dry but overcome a bit by my smothering it with the sauce that came with it. However, the rustic chips were great and I could have eaten double the amount easily! A really special interior with bird caches, no real birds though, table legs which are used for giving plants a space to grow; one table with swinging chairs, which were a bit low for the height of the table and most probably only suitable if you around 6.5 foot. Nevertheless if you are hungry and dont want to indulge in fine dining food, then this is a good place to go. The best was a wine which I recommend: Yealands, Land Made, Sauvignon Blanc - Top wine. Indian Curry and Burger with Halloumi Cheese were absoutely fine as the concept is home cooking style. We will for sure try the other Muriel kitchen in due course.

Salmon and cream cheese sandwich, egg mayonnaise sandwich. savoury scones with butter, fruit scones with cream and jam, cake and a chocolate mousse. I'm veggie and my daughter doesn't eat ham, but was told that they couldn't change the sandwich. It then arrived without any cheese. The bread was cheap sliced loaf. The egg mayonnaise somehow was lacking eggThe savoury scones arrived without butterThe sweet scones arrived without Jam and creamIn fairness when we raised it the manager was very apologetic and brought me a simple cheese sandwich, and sorted out the missing items. The mousse was great, really rich.OK, it was fairly low quality food. but the environment was lovely and restful, and it was very reasonably priced, bang in the middle of Leicester Square.Would I go there again? We stopped off at Muriel's kitchen as we missed our own table arrangements due to my groups terrible time keeping. We decided to go in here to try something other than the big chain restaurants that are nearby. The decor and cleanliness of the restaurant were spot on, it's a charmingly homely dining area. The waiters and waitresses were friendly enough but I would say their customer service skills need perfecting as they were not as attentive as they could have been. The food was fairly fast which is great when you're in a rush but it very obvious the food is not freshly cooked to order. I had calamari which was flavorless and the sweet potato chips were definitely reheated oven style. The others in my group had Caesar salad with chicken. They said the chicken was nicely seasoned but it just looked so bland. Overall a very overpriced mediocre meal.

We had just left a morning theatre show (for kids) and were heading for Bella Italia on the corner when we spotted Muriel's. It looked cute and the chicken on the lunch menu appealed to me so we thought we would try it out over the larger Italian chain restaurant (happy to pay a bit extra). We were seated quickly and given menus, unfortunately they weren't the lunch menus displayed outside, which we were interested in. We had to wait quite a while for a server to come, but fair enough it was the busy lunch period. When food came, it was only my son's and mine. My mother had to wait. After nearly finishing our food we finally flagged down a server to ask - clearly her dish hadn't been ordered. Another wait ensued. These things happen though. They took half the price off of her dish for the mistake. I thought they could have given it for free, seeing as it meant we were left waiting with an antsy toddler and little baby, but hey.Despite the issues, the food itself was pretty ordinary. The chicken was dry and the plate looked empty. Only a bit of rocket on top and three roasted tomatoes around the outside. My son's fish and chips were clearly just frozen ones I would serve at home. We left feeling hungry still and wishing we had gone with the (cheaper) chain restaurant rather than being swayed by the cute decor of Muriel's.

We came across this restaurant by chance last year, and we were so impressed that we made a specific journey to eat here again! The whole place is a very relaxed atmosphere, with great staff who obviously love working there. We took our 2 children (10 and 4 years) and they were treated so well.Even though it was really busy outside in Leicester Square, once inside you couldn't hear any noise.Another bonus was the clean bathroom! I love the hand soap they have!!

We popped in here for afternoon tea and it was, actually is, amazing!!I'm still enjoying it as I type.At £19.50 we thought it may be slightly overpriced but boy were we wrong. You could easily share one between two people. The cakes, especially the little carrot loaf are so moreish and it doesn't end there. Each item is fresh and beautifully made and presented. As for the staff, they are pleasant, attentive and a breath of fresh air compared to some in London. I really CANNOT fault this place. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

My daughter and I were staying in a hotel in the area and while out on a stroll, this restaurant caught our eye because of it's beautiful interior decor. It was around 7 pm and the restaurant was bustling, being in a high traffic tourist area, but still managed to get a table. Our server was friendly and a has a good sense of humor; the food was good tasting and perfectly cooked. We had bruschetta, pizza and fish n chips. Reasonably priced. We came back the next day for breakfast and had freshly baked bread with clotted cream. Yum! We would've ordered more but they had a problem with the cook (maybe he's late?) that day. I love Muriel's Kitchen and would visit this restaurant again the next time I'm in London.

Provatelo!!!

We did not eat at Muriel's kitchen as we were on our way a few hours later to have afternoon tea but we sat and watched the people going by and had a few drinks and used the toilets, which were spotless. The decor is charming and the staff are very friendly and accomodating.

We visited this restaurant on Saturday 25th July and ordered two coffees and two Almond Croissants. Unfortunately we were informed that they had just sold the last croissant, but the kitchen was cooking some more if we were willing to wait. The manager was most apologetic about this and as a gesture of goodwill, said he would not charge us for our coffee. The staff were very attentive and friendly. When the croissants arrived they were still warm and extremely tasty - well worth waiting for.The restaurant was light, airy with comfortable chairs and a pleasant decor. We will definitely return to Muriel's Kitchen when we are next in London.

My friend and I were in London and saw this restaurant on the Friday night. We decided to try it for breakfast the next day and we were so happy! We were greeted with big smiles and sat in the novelty bird cage type swinging chairs. We had a beautiful cup of tea and were spoilt for choice on the menu. The waiter offered us orange juice and it was the best I've ever tasted. I had eggs Benedict and my friend had the granola sundae and we were both absolutely thrilled. It was the best breakfast I think I've ever had. It was so good we returned for breakfast the following day too! 110% recommend

We had to wait 45mins with a baby to be served. My wife is vegetarian and they wouldn't serve us a Cesar salad without chicken (and we said we'd pay full price!). They also wouldn't serve us a mushroom burger without the cheese. If they had served us sooner, at least we could have found this out and used the time to go somewhere else. More than this though, was the attitude of the staff, which was rude and dismissive. I guess they get a lot of Leister square traffic which must be tiring. Then again, if you have a restaurant on Leicester square you might expect that. Go somewhere else please. Plenty of places in Soho that are great. Which is what we did in the end, our mistake for hitting the tourist trail.

Was really disappointed in the food here. After walking past many places we chose this place after reading the menu.We ordered nachos which read that it had British chuck steak. I imagined the meat being slow cooked in a spicy Mexican sauce. What was served was tough and rubbery - basically undercooked for chuck steak. On top of this I came across a piece of plastic in the food. After reporting this to the waiter she got the manager, who to his credit was most apologetic and handled the whole thing professionally. He offered for the meal to be free of charge. We had a pizza which was okay without being memorable.Probably would not eat there again.

This placed looked so good, especially the decore inside, I thought for sure it would match in food quality - NOPE!We ordered their so called "house special" Mango Chicken Curry (see pic), which was absolutely gross. Very bland, no mango flavour or pieces in this at all, very salty and soup consistency. The chicken was in huge pieces but once you bit inside, it was horribly dry and very overcooked. I was starving and I couldn't get through much of this. Also had the cheeseburger with chips (see pic) which was also overcooked, dry and so bland - no flavour at all. The chips were also disgraceful, I mean how can you go wrong with chips??? They were flavourless, dry and got stuck in your throat like a build up of wall cement!!I ordered sweet potato fries on the side and this was actually good, so were the mini pappadums (see pic). The strawberry milkshake (see pic) was fabulous, despite it taking over an hour to get to our table. I wondered if they were shaking the cow!Service here was disorganised, nobody knew which tables were being served by whom and food was being delivered to wrong tables, then picked up and redelivered to the correct table some time later, once the food had cooled. Not impressed, definitely won't be back to any Muriel's Kitchen if they can't even get their "signature dish" right!

Hi I ordered 2 thin crust pizzas. The base was like cardboard. Without a doubt the worse pizza base I have ever tasted - would have been better using a supermarket own base. They also mixed up the sauce bases on the pizza - pepperoni with BBQ sauce and Ranch BBQ with tomato sauce. Phoned the store - we are too busy to sort this out - try emailing head office (random email address given which didn't work) and ask for a refund. Just based on the quality of the pizza give this store a miss - so wish I had read the other reviews on line before ordering - I now understand why this store has received so many 1;s

A lot of hard surfaces, which makes it rather noisy. The toilets are horrendous McDonald's old sinks and childrens toilets. No grab rails or disabled equipment. The wine is delivered by tesco, and what they charge for a class, you could get a bottle and have change. Soft drinks just don't bother. The female manager really needs to be sent on a customer service course. The rudeness was uncalled for. Will not be booking a table again. The rest of the staff were very nice, they work hard. Nothing is too much trouble.

Bad food, terrible service We were looking with my friends a place to eat, but as it was a boxing day 26th of December, everything was packed in Central so we didn't had any other choice rather than eating there, as we were in a rushed. The items on the menu were very overpriced. I choose the pizza margarita that costs £15 and when I said to the waiter that I would like extra mushrooms, he said that they can't do that and that I need to order the fungi pizza that costs £19 , that was exactly the same as margarita just with extra mushrooms that they charged £4 more. He wasn't polite at all with us. We ordered a coke, and when I asked tap water, he said in a very rude way that they don't do it, so he forced us to order still water that they charged £5. We all felt discriminated by the way he was talking to us. The pizza wasn't fresh at all, tasted like frozen one. My friends had pasta fettuccine that had literally only 2 pieces of chicken and chicken breast served with frozen fast food potatoes that cost more than £20 each dish. We were sitting outside, and my friend asked for an ashtray, and the waiter ignored him, making a very bad face reaction. Before we asked for the bill, I kindly said to the waiter to remove the service charge as the experience wasn't as we were expecting. Then he said that it's obligatory and not optional and he couldn't remove it. He was literally shouting in front of the customers, and apparently, he was the manager there. Seems he has no experience in hospitality and customer service. We have been forced to pay 25% of Service Charge when the average in the UK is 10-12.5% !!!! The bill was £102 for a small frozen pizza, overcooked pasta with 2 small cubes of chicken, and a small chicken breast. I don't recommend this place. Food is terrible and the staff seems like they hate what they are doing.
