Mumbai Local Rayners Lane in Harrow

Service is very bad. There is no one to handle the customers. And food almost arrived 50 minutes late. This is not it is suppose to be . Please have a look into this”Mumbai local”.

Decent Indian cuisine. We were not very happy with the taste and the price. Puri Bhaji was less salt in the Bhaji and two ginger cut pieces which honestly doesn’t help much unless it’s blended. It was more like a garnish, but wasnt tasty. Pav Bhaji had too much butter with that Bhaji. Initially the taste seemed nice to start but then once you start eating more, we felt too thick with butter. Masala Tea wasn’t great for the price. The Lemon Juice was decent, because the lemon to water and sugar proportion wasn’t right. Price is high and you get additional service charge of 12.5% by default, which for that price and taste isn’t really worthwhile. I felt slightly disappointed with the taste and price.

This particular branch of Mumbai Local is my personal favourite The staff is very friendly Ambience is decent And food is always on point Today we tried their newly started Breakfast Each day of the week they have a different menu and only for £6.95 Worth a try if in the area

Good food, flavourful Music too loud. Do not recommend masala tea though.

Our experience here was quite disappointing. We ordered the vada pav, which turned out to be extremely dry, and the potato filling lacked any real flavor. The aloo tikki burger was even worse—the patty was tiny, overloaded with onions, and the bun was grilled to the point of being completely flat. There seemed to be a man, likely the owner, occupying a whole table with documents spread out, having what appeared to be a casual business meeting with the chef. She didn’t come across as professional and was casually chatting with the staff. It didn’t give a good impression, especially since this was during peak weekend hours and the place was nearly empty. To make matters worse, there was no gesture of goodwill, like removing poorly prepared items from the bill. The only dish we found somewhat enjoyable was the Chinese bhel. When we raised concerns about the food, the response was simply, “We’ll take care of it next time.” Also, a word of advice—discussing business matters like menu changes and pricing in front of diners is off-putting. Guests come to enjoy a meal, not overhear management conversations. Overall, not a great experience & definitely not going back again.

Please do not go here. Having been to most of the popular Indian veggie restaurants in NW London, this is truly the worst. I don't trust any of the good reviews. We visited on the evening of 9th of April. Walked in, and noticed no vibe or buzz about the eatery. There were hardly any diners. That should have been a red flag for us. We stayed nonetheless. Ordered Uttapam as a starter which was OK, but could tell the batter was days old. Main course was rajma curry and veg malai kofta with jeera rice and methi thepla. Both curries arrived dry and luke warm . We soldiered on, ate as much as we could despite our obvious dissatisfaction. In hindsight, we should have rejected the curries upon arrival at our table. When it came to paying the bill, I complained about the curries, and was told that they will improve next time. "There really isn't going to be a next time" I said that's for sure. If discerning customers make an honest complaint, the only way to learn is to actually refund the customer for the dishes that failed to live upto expectation. Instead they chose the path of losing the customer for life. Please avoid this place, it's overpriced and soul-less!!

Had a family Diwali gathering here. Booked in advance. Very accommodating staff. Excellent service throughout. Starters of crispy bhajia, garlic mogo and chilli paneer. All goodcand tastey. Mains of dumb aloo, sweetcorn methi curry and tanka daal with fresh salad and naan. Best dish was methi gota which were sublime👏 The passion fruit juice was very good as well. Very little to fault. Our server Pritesh was excellent and very efficient & helpful. Will return soon!! 2025 Update. Evening family dinner. Great food again - vada, papdi chat, chilled batura, oro but no rasmalia was a big letdown. The masala chai was weak and no great.

Booked table for 6, when we arrived plenty of space so no issues here. Menu is extensive so good choice for everyone. Portions are a bit small compared to other establishments. Some of the plates were chipped. 12.5% service charge added automatically at the end. Food served was ok and tasty but there are better value restaurants.

Great, elevated thali. I enjoyed the presentation although not all the elements were absolutely perfect in terms of taste. For a bit of context, I grew up in the UK but we've lived in St Louis in the US for a decade to run our workflow automation product, Tallyfy - and it's a hugely underrated and awesome place. I sometimes miss thalis and certain North Indian dishes so coming back to London in summer is something we look forward to!

Visited for lunch and took advantage of the lunchtime specials, which were delicious and generous portion size too, so very good value for money. We had the chole bhatura, with the tastiest bhatura I've had in a while, very fresh, soft, not oily, and richly spiced chole. Paneer tikka kathi roll was excellent too, there was plenty of filling inside the roll, with a wonderful flavour of spicy paneer and veggies. The dishes come with a cup of masala chai too, perfect for a cold day! Friendly and fast service from the staff too, would definitely come back again.

We used to like Mumbai local a lot now since last few months their food tastes horrible and my husband and me both got food poisoning since we ate pawbhaji and masala dosa from Mumbai locals yesterday I won’t recommend anyone, there food is horrible and “basi”

I have dined at Mumbai Local Rayner's Lane for lunch over the past few years but this time found quality not good as well as portion size. The portions have been reduced to less than half. The Undhiu had just tuvar dana small pieces of potatoes only and no Surti papdi or sweet potato/yam with just traces of muthia. The chole Batura was nowhere close to Panjabi chole and the bhatura was awful. Thick made in a different way nowhere close to actual Bhatura. The methi Bhajia though were good but very expensive at 7.95 for just a few of them. The ragda samosa chat was average and again very small portion size. The restaurant is charging prices of fine dining though being an average Indian Chat restaurant. Service charge is at 12.5% like central London restaurants. The heating too wasn't on when we sat down and had to request the staff as it was cold in the restaurant. I then realised that at peak lunch time on Sunday we were just two couples having lunch. The service/staff has always been good though. I did inform at the till that I was disappointed and wont be going to this restaurant in the future. My bill today for lunch was Pounds 51.08 for just 2 of us.

Worst staff, girls serving don’t understand English and argue back without understanding. Orders placed hours ago wasn’t ready when I went to pick up.

I have ordered paneer makhni and chappati.. the paneer makhni was testless and so weird test. We have tasted it and bin it.. it was terrible. Never gonna order it again. Totally waste of money and mood.

It was fine , but after mentioning also, they served with spicy food which they changed after complaining. Also served in bowl which was chipped of, after charging £5 service charge not expecting this.

Food was good, service was below average. We ordered Pan at the end of the meal which seemed over a week old. Wouldn’t want to go there again, rather go to the one in Harrow or Queensbury.

Excellent food and service every single time from the Rayners Lane branch. I love their paneer dishes and most fan of their paneer shashlick! Oh and by mistake, if you end up trying this paneer shashlick with the coconut chutney that normally comes with a dish of idlis or dosas, then minds will be blown… it’s my new addiction that just can’t get enough of! I can’t wait for next time!!

A great North Indian restaurant for both lunch and dinner. Had the chilli paneer and veg fried rice. Very good quality food and great staff 👍

Food is average, but I found a hair in my food almost after eating meal which is not acceptable. Then they just offered a service waiver on my bill which was anyway optional.

Food and service was really great. Vada pav was outstanding 👌 My son also loved dahi puri and vada pav. Simran was really good in serving us at the 5* level 🙏

At 8pm the lights were dimmed like they were closing. Absolutely no ambience until much later when they put on the music and this place is expensive for what it is. My friend ordered puri and it was nothing like puri. The curry was clearly not freshly made, given how quickly it came out. Going to be a long time before I return here with so many other options in Raynerslane and beyond.

Totally disappointed- overall standard has dropped be it food ,ambience, cleanliness . Will never go back.

Wow! I ordered Paneer Shashlik and Paneer tikka, both are sizzlers and when they arrived to my table, I was in awe with the presentation and the fact that the paneer sizzled for at least 90 seconds after reaching my table. Amazing to taste, I cleaned out the dishes, I didn’t even leave the vegetables (I normally leave them out but the flavours were so aromatic and 100% best tasting paneer I’ve had my entire life - I’m over 35 and have been eating paneer for 20+ years). Also, crispy on the outside and soft centred!

I had mysor dosa tild them less hot and no chillies. But it came as hot with outer dosa with chillies as there are all pre prepared. Had they told me i would heve ordered something else but to be fair they changed it for me.

Mumbai Local serves genuine Indian cuisine. We relished Gujrati Thepla and vegetable curry. The dishes are good and price is reasonable The service is good.

The place is chic and customer friendly. The mumbai theme wall decor is really nice and the lighting is just about right. The staff was attentive, and quick to respond. Most food arrived within reasonable time and was per satisfaction. The food is a mixed bag, 1. Vada pav was humongous (the biggest I have seen in Uk and also Mumbai) and is a great hit. 2. Chat, pav bhaji, pakodas, etc. was really nice. 3. Chinese noodles needs a bit of seasoning adjustment. Overall it was more geared for local taste. 4. Gujarati dishes weren’t great. We ordered undhiyi and bajri roti, which was quite ok and passable. Stick to restaurant basics and don’t go for exotic stuff on the menu. All the best to the team.

Really enjoyed dining here today. Fantastic street food from Mumbai and India. Thank you chef. But more than that the staff were fantastic and that is the reason we will be back. Pritesh and Bhumi, thank you for recommending the paneer tikka dosa which was yummy. Bhunvun was very polite, joyous and smiling- happy to see staff so happy ! Thank you also to Mundeep and Sapna. Although Sapna ( from Kurukshetra) would not oblige me with my order for a spicy Deepika Padukone !🤨🤨

Had dinner with some friends last night (8 of us). The food was excellent. The service was very good and overall good value for money. Very impressed with the service received from one young Nepali server I think he said his name was Bhuban. Very friendly and efficient. We were also partly served by a lady called Bhumi. She was very good. Did not have much of a starter except one chilly paneer which was good. The main course was quite a few things and every dish was tasty and the portion size was adequate. Baigan Bharta (Oro) was excellent, Rotlas were nice, corn mutter methi was particularly good and highly recommended. We also had Undhyu, Lilva Kadhi. Although we asked for it to be little spicy the chef had not killed the taste and every dish was tasty. Parking bit of an issue but as such plenty available (if one can find it!!). I was later told that sometimes they have some private parking available. Not sure if this is true. Overall a great experience. Thank you

worst restaurant food in London..they say this is palak paneer ...we are all knows palak paneer have a green gravy...i order palak paneer and thay send me this item and when i call him and tell him that is not palak paneer but he say this is palak paneer...now friends tell me .. which palak paneer you like ....(Don't go in this restaurant)

Good Pure Veg Indian Restaurant, very close to Rayners Lane station. Went with friends, tried Crispy Corn and aborigines- Awesome. Rasmalai was also good. Pritesh was very helpful in accommodating our special requests.

I recently dined at in Mumbai Local and was thoroughly impressed. We arrived just minutes before closing, but the staff ( Riya & Pritesh ) welcomed us warmly and recommended some excellent dishes. The service was prompt, and the food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Their hospitality and dedication, even at the end of the day, made our visit memorable. Highly recommend!

Came here at 9.45pm because maps said closing time is 10.30pm. However, the actual closing time is 10pm. They still allowed us in even though the kitchen was preparing to close. We had a lovely meal and no sign of being rushed by any of the team. The crispy bhajia, onion uttapam, pani puri and rasmalai were great. Thank you Pritesh and team for the lovely service - we will visit again soon........for sure.

First time ordered a take away and was pretty good. The only thing I could point out is there was a strange smell in the Hakka noodles, sesame paneer was delicious but could have been slightly softer. Loved the veg manchurian dry. I ordered a samosa chaat and a papri chaat with crispy potatoes. There were only 2 tables eating so they weren’t even busy. What’s the samosa chaat? Just one samosa and yogurt?? Ridiculous! The potato’s are burnt and soggy! I got a takeaway and didn’t check before taking it home! Pathetic!!! And the 2 cost me £17!!! Buy frozen samosas 2 dozen for this price and better quality! Never ever go here!

Food average, they gave us wrong bill of £100 when our bill was £60, charged 12.5% service tax on top of bill whereas it is nowhere mentioned in the restaurant anywhere about service tax being charged, stay away

Me and my family had dinner @ Mumbai Local - and I must say the food, service and ambience was excellent! We had a few starters and mains but "Crispy Bhajiya" was one of the best dishes I will cherish. The food portion was generous and very reasonable for my pocket! They served us very warmly. Bhuvan served us and Pritesh took care of the orders and billing. We are surely going again!

Tried Chinese food here and it was good. Portion size is impressive hence we had to take away remaining food. Ambience is good and staff is friendly.

One of the best naans i had so far in London in last two years. Loved it!!

My daughter and I went for dinner last night, traveled 45 minutes by car to have so called best food in town, had sev puri, vada pav, chilli paneer, methi bhajiya, lasssi. I think Mumbai Local should change their name to SUGAR LOCAL OR SUGER EXPRESS! Everything we ate was extremely sweet, we are both diabetics, we asked for less sugar, they could not manage it. Chutnies in vada pav or sev puri or dahi vada were all exactly the same! So didn't feel as if we were eating different food! And the charges I would think were sky high looking at the taste quality!

Looks like a nice little place you can go and catch up with friends but the staff hanging around the reception area made it very intrusive! And our table was right near the reception. Food could be better, the mushroom Kathi roll was heavy with sauce and soggy.

All the food is great. Get more hlavours one at a time with each dish!

I wanted to have misal pav so I went here. Misal was ok, mostly I could only taste masala and they have white watana misal, it is not mix of pulses if you are looking for that. Pav was the burger pav, I prefer white rolls with misal as they dont taste sweet. Staff was good and friendly. Service overall was good. I will try other dishes next time.

The Staff were rude,impatient and had a casual attitude. Cracking jokes and laughing loudly after serving the dinner. A lady waiter was continuously staring in an intimidating manner and stood close to our table for a long time. It was clear that she wanted us to leave at the earliest.She insisted on clearing the food even though we didn't finish. Please show courtesy to your diners without regional bias. This was the most unruly and unprofessional behaviour of restaurant staff we have seen in our dining experience in London so far. Extremely disappointed.

It's a below par place. Food taste is below average. Ordered Chole Bhatura. Odd shaped and size Bhatura. Chole was Chana Masala!!!!.

We really enjoyed the chaat here, the dahi puri and sev puri were really delicious. But the main course of chilly paneer was a total flop. Felt like stale paneer pieces were tossed in ketchup and served. The undhiyu was flavourless as well. The serving was attentive and polite.

I placed an order through Uber eats ( paying a higher price ) from this already highly priced restaurant. There was a problem with my order and when I called the restaurant the front desk guy was very rude. Food came spicy and oily. Never ever from this place.
