Great casual spot. You get a basket, you put your treasures in the basket, it is weighed (you pay per 100g), you pick your soup base and it is sent off to the kitchen. It comes out bubbling in a personal pot, and you can slurp away with a free sauce station. It is VERY easy to overfill your basket and end up with your own personal cauldron, although if you ask they will bag up leftovers for you. There are plenty of vegetarian fillings and a tomato soup base which is vegetarian. There is also a vegetarian set pot if you can't make up your mind. I found the food very tasty, lovely quick service, and reasonable prices.

It’s really great the people and the food amazing. £3 per 100g for everything. Drinks are reasonable price. There is allot of broth so don’t over estimate.

First time here but definitely not the last. Huge bowl of volcanic hot soupy noodles full of all our favourite bits only! You get a basket and pick out what you want and then pay for the weight with a choice of soup base. Service was with a cheery smile. Came to about £15 each for a HUGE bowl.

This is such a good place! You get to choose a cooking broth and decide from 40 or so items what you want to cook in the broth. The choices are varied and authentic - I've never eaten lotus root or wax gourd before, for example. There are plenty of choices for vegetarians, vegans and the dairy intolerant, and everything is so tasty and good. Will definitely be going again.

I've really missed hot pots since moving back from Australia to the UK, and this really hit the spot! It's a traditional hot pot place, in that you pick your broth, and fill a basket with whatever extras you want to put in from the fridge (a wide range including greens, mushrooms, dumplings, fresh seafood and meat, noodles etc). You are then charged by weight for what you've chosen. If you're looking for a fancy restaurant, with salubrious surroundings, this isn't the place for you, but if you're looking for a delicious, generous and great value-for-money hot pot in simple surroundings , then this definitely IS the place for you! The owner/manager was absolutely lovely and really took care of us, explaining what everything was and checking in. The broths were delicious, the choice of additions really good (they even had frogs legs for the more adventurous amongst you!) and served in really large pots that I had no hope of finishing! I will definitely be returning. Highly recommended.

Absolutely brilliant! I’ve not had mao cai before. You choose your cold ingredients from a huge range of options and pay be weight. You then choose the spiciness of your soup and they bring out a huge bowl with the ingredients you’ve bought in a blisteringly hot soup (temperature, that is)! It’s not strictly a hotpot, despite the name, as the bowl isn’t heated throughout the meal, like a true hotpot. The ingredients included beef and chicken, tripe and other offal, various forms of tofu, fish, squid, vegetables, noodles … far too many to list. Don’t worry: if you order too much you can box it up and take it home. The owners were extremely friendly and chatted away in Mandarin to my girlfriend. Apparently, they are about to open a branch of this restaurant in Leicester, so I suspect we’ll be regulars there!

Amazing food, lovely staff, just a fantastic experience. We felt really looked after and the food was just. Amazing. Read the instructions or ask for help if you're confused but it all made sense to us. We'll be back!

I travelled in Cambridge and passed by this restaurant, so I walked in and tried it. There are wide range of veg, seafood balls and meaty choices, with sesame sauce, which making the hot pot is very traditional Chinese style. The soup is very good as well. 👍i definitely will go there again.

Estaba muy sorprendido por la comida en YamYam ir! Normalmente no soy el mayor fan de la comida asiática, normalmente me encuentro un poco grasienta y prefiero más fresca, pero tampoco alimentos cata

Looks like a typical British chinese takeaway, BUT it is the most affordable and authentic chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to at Cambridge.

Didn’t try this personally, but to relay the feedback: it was a filled, freshly cooked, and steaminggg pancake. On the pricier side, but you get what you pay for! Quickly made, so you won’t be waiting

Nice foods. I like the drawings on the wall. If the portions of the dishes are bigger then that would be perfect.
