Wrong items recieved at lower costs received also stated no to something due to allergies, asked justeat to step in with photographic evidence which food needed to be thrown due to allergies to be informed you order at your own risk ...seriously stay away been with them 4 years then to be told this with no refund or help please don't use this service again.

Awful fish and chips. Told 40-45 mins delivery. Arrived in less than 10 mins. Fish soggy and chips rock hard. This food had definatly been cooked for sometime, and fish wasnt even cooked. Offered 20% off next time. What an insult. Said I wasnt going to make a next time. Threw the food away!!!

having used Mr cod a number of times , we will now no longer use mr cod or anyone in my family will use this place for a few reasons .orderd food was told 45 mins rang an hour later after order placed and told ten mins which we were fine with 20 mins then passed still no food bringing the waiting time too an hour and 20 mins after order placement rang up again and was met on the phone by a rude lady kept us on the line for 10 mins then told us they can't get hold of the driver and that they would give us 30 percent off our next order at this point we were not going to order from them again so was pointless to give after some back and fourth they decided they would give 30 percent of this order as I was paying cash. food turned up 2 hrs later and an absolutely raging delivery driver turned up as it was an hour after we were told he had left the place I decided I wanted to check the food was at least warm as it turned up in bags and no hot box and I'm glad I did it was all stone cold. chips burgers kebabs all of it I then returned to the door told him I wasn't happy I am going to right a review he was the most aggressive person I have ever met he threw the money down at my feet at the floor started calling me a f ING c u next Tuesday he didn't need my money and he was coming back then started swearing at my partner house had come to see what was happening and tell him to calm down as the kids were crying and upset. the kids then proceeded to ask randomly for the next too days if the door was locked and if he was coming back. I Wass going to ring the police but tbh I can't be bothered to waste there time at this point. I rang Mt cod up but they really wasn't bothered I was met by the same rude lady who wouldn't pass me on to somebody senior because at this point they were both at fault I'm worried that the delivery driver will do this to other people it was absolutely uncalled for and the worst delivery exp I have encountered shame we've ordered food for years from here even after all the bad press I've always been alright with what I ordered but never again until I'm contacted by management what a way to start Xmas

Ordered kebab chips batterd sausage, two chicken on the bone,the chips where double cooked could tell even before trying one,the battered sausage was the same,chicken was eather very over cooked or re done again in the fryer as for the kabab did not try because of the poor quality food,all right in the bin,£25 out of pocket,shall never order again very poor quality,

Years ago this was a great chippy but now it's the worst chippy in Swindon. Fish so thin and dry batter thick and so greasy , Chips are so uneatable taste like they have been refried. Must say will never use them again unless they lnprove and I start seeing good reviews. Such a shame because they used to be honestly brilliant.

Awful chips. Cooked fresh but cooked very quickly and went like little potato bullets. Very brown and unappetizing even when they were “fresh”

Wish I'd read the reviews before ordering - I don't like to give bad reviews but I ordered cod & chips (how hard can that be?) for collection Sunday 5-5.30-ish and it really was literally the worst I've ever had (and I'm in my 50s!). The fish was inedible: a thin, tiny, dry and chewy fillet covered in a thick greasy layer of batter. The chips at least managed to achieve mediocrity, hence the generous two stars. I have effectively paid over a tenner for an indifferent portion of chips. I will never go to Mr Cod again - my advice is to go to the York Road chippy instead, like I usually do and will definitely be doing in future.

The worst Fish n Chips I have ever had in 51 years on this planet. I open the awful polystyrene trays and see three pieces of fish- yay, I then realise this was effectively 3 pieces of greasy batter with a tiny fish core - boo. This is the worst chippy I've ever been in and £9.99 for garbage fish, chips and curry sauce is a disgrace. Do not go here, do not encourage them.

Ordered x3 Cod& Chips with Mushy Peas, arrived cold and one was missing cod..basically a lump of batter !...not as good as it used to be. Very disappointed.

Extremely rude and unhelpful on the phone when I called about a late order. Told me to "call back in an hour" When I attempted to speak he just kept saying "call back in an hour" Food was pretty rubbish. Greasy, cold and stale.

Literally best chips in years fast service will come here again and live 3 miles away! Really tasty easy to access.... delicious

The chips are the worst you are likely to get...so rock hard you could break a,window with them .Cant understand why you would put in such a poor effort into the main thing people are going to buy .Just like us people wont go back after.

This was the last chance for "Mr Cod" as weve used this place for a while (usually good), however one order was wrong and once reported via just eat it was ignored (the complaint is still on my history) we placed the order 18.38 on a Saturday, it confirmed the order and also confirmed our order would be delivered for 19.30!! 15 minutes after that time my teenage daughter was curtain twitching like you wouldnt believe? I checked the app as I hadnt had an email about the delay and it still confirmed the original time.20.10 our order finally arrived for it to be luke warm! As a food professional I understand the risks of warm food within the danger temperature zones! So my family didnt eat any food that was a high risk. Once my children had eaten the top layer of chips (which tasted like theyd been fried a few times )we found there was very little chips but just scraps! I've complained through just eat and "Mr Cod" has rejected my redund! I will certainly not use this establishment again!

Lots of poor reviews had put me off this place since I moved to Swindon. However I tried it tonight and was pleasantly surprised. The chips were excellent. The fish (I had cod) was good. A good thick piece.

I ordered a Chicken burger and chips, a triple burger and chips and a fish and chips, The worst thing i have ever ordered, no salad, no source and no cheese, just a plan burger a bun. The fish and chips were so greasy, i could used the grease to fry another lot of chips !!. If you are looking to get a meal that you can eat i would go else were, the worst place i have ever ordered from, the food was that bad even our dog turned its nose up !. I would not recommend ordering for Mr cod.

Spent 23.90 on absolutely disgusting food and they dont even answer the phone tikka wrap not even tikka horrible dry food stay away at all costs worst food for miles

Disgusting soggy burger with no cheese or onion as requested. 300 Tons of brown lettuce though (okay I exaggerate the number) Wouldn't mind but last time they forgot 2 of our items from the order. When I called they were very rude telling me I was wrong and to check again. Eventually agreed to bring the missing food out but never did. Wouldn't waste my ££

This was the 2nd time ordering from mr cod old town branch for our family. First time we had a jumbo sausage missing. They did bring out, but took along time to deliver & was cold. Staff were rude on the phone. We decided to order again today thought it may be a one off. But nope the chips were hard this time & portion was so small! looks like we were gave what they had left over from the night before. fish cake was missing this time. So I rang the store again to tell them. The man I spoke to asked if I would like it sent out. I said yes please & told him this was the second time we had something missing. He did not seem bothered at all . Not even a apology! He put the phone down I was shocked. I will not be ordering again!!

Quality of food has very low standard s rubbery batter and chips as if they have been warned up not impressed with this service ..As my review title saids Think twice and go somewhere else .... :-(dilveroo no help ...to sort this out ....low standards ...cook at home .

Awful food and really bad delivery and the staff are extremely rude!!!Had a takeaway yesterday, 5 out of the 6 meals arrived 1.5 hours after ordered and it tasted like it had been sat around most of that time the 6th Meal turned up 2.5 hours after order dispute being told several time it was on its way. It was disgusting, cold , greasy and as for the apple pie. Never again will I spend my hard earned money with you AVOID . NOT EVEN WORTH A ONE STAR

Waited over 2 hour when it came food was freezing if they cant handle the demands of home delivery stop taking orders also had a few other delivery and order was wrong this place needs to be properly managed BAD SERVICE

Waited 3 and half hours for my delivery was told 4 times it.was on it's way then I was told it was forgotten about. Was told at 7.45 PM they was cooking it now and it.would be with us in 20 to 25 mins it came 40 mins later absolutely freezing cold. Absolutely disgusted with this service this was the old.town shop. Will never be going there again

Ordered from the Cricklade Road branch (should have learned from the last abysmal order placed on Just Eat. Took over an hour to be delivered, even though they are a 5 minute drive away. They forgot the mayo and salad in the chicken burgers, the burgers themselves looked and tasted like they had been cooked last night, dry and tough. The Hash brown and cheese had amalgamated into something unrecognisable, disgusting! The buns on the chicken burger and cheeseburger were tough and dried out, like they have been left out for god knows how long. The mushy pea fritter was not much bigger than an Oreo cookie and completely flavourless. They forgot salt and vinegar on the chips, obvs how can we expect them to get that right. Whats worse the tiny, dry, tasteless, chewy, stale chicken burgers cost nearly £5! Oh and all the food was stone cold, forgot that part. Really don't know how restaurants can get away with this over and over!

I went into the shop with some friends on Saturday 8th Feb in the night after a few drinks. I ordered two chicken burgers and I paid with my contactless debit card… Unfortunately, I was a bit distracted talking to my friends and didn’t ask for a receipt. After a while, and before they served me my food, they told me that my payment didn’t went through, and they asked me to swipe my card again. I questioned it, but they insisted and I trusted their good will, so I swiped my card again. I forgot about the issue the morning after, but I’ve just checked my account now, and I’ve seen two consecutive payments of £5.98 at Mr Cod from the 09/02/20… I wish I could believe this was a mistake, after all it is a very small value of money. However, they could have easily checked what they charged, but they decided not to, they consciously took advantage of me being distracted.Going back to the shop and claiming for that money is not an option for me. I didn’t keep any receipts for me to show, and dealing with people like that disgusts me more than anything else, seeing their faces once in a lifetime is more than enough for me. The worrying fact is doing something like that for such a small amount of money only means this must be common practice for them... I’m just happy to write this review and to be able to advise everybody to go somewhere else or, at least, to keep an eye on what they are paying and to ask for a receipt immediately.

WOW . First time of ordering from Mr Cod.... all I can say is that 1st impressions really do count The food is cooked to perfection and even when ordering for home delivery, the food arrives boiling hot after an extremely quick delivery from the time of ordering. Keep up the good work and you are highly recommend to friends and family

Really nice food, big portions and a lot of options on the menu the only problem is that it takes along time for your food to be derived but apart from that would definitely recommend

We stopped here after a night out for a little snack before going home, and how utterly disappointing it was.I ordered a chicken burger, a double in fact as I was hungry, and it was one of the worst burgers I've ever had in my life, just dry and horrible, I couldn't even eat it and threw it away.My first and very last visit, I would never eat here again.

£7.50 for a medium cod and chips... poor quality. Batter to fish ratio wasn’t the best bit like a midget in a double sleeping bag. Won’t be returning. Curry sauce was knackered. Place needs to look at itself in the mirror.

Awful service! ordered direct from their website on a Thursday evening which you would think wouldn't be busy, order turns up 1 hour and 20 minutes late! Food was freezing cold and to top it all off, chips were ordered and chips did NOT arrive with the order! Phoned them up to ask why the chips were not in the bag, all we get is we've given you what you ordered... nothing would make me suggest Mr Cod in Swindon to anybody! Stay away from them if you want a nice experience!

This is a popular fish and chip shop on the main road linking Swindon town centre with the old town. It serves the regular chip shop food and the portion sizes are average. It gets a lot of trade because of its location but personally there are better fish and chip shops near by.

We popped in to get 1 fish and chips and 1 chicken and chips, we waited almost 45 minutes, my husband was the only one there when we ordered. We came out with chicken, 2 portions of chips, mushy peas, and 3 fish and chips. All of wish minus a few chips where put in the bin. The fish still frozen, chicken very much recycled and chips average at best.

I came here and the fish you get is tiny and pretty much tasteless. Price is a reflection on the quality of the product. Not really recommended

I made an order from you Saturday just gone, and the delivery time I was given it never arrived. When I called up, I spoke to someone and they hung up on me. I waited an hour and a half after I was told when the delivery was coming. When it finally arrived my food was given to me cold. The chicken in the wrap was cold and I wasn't given what I asked for. The drink that was ordered as part of the meal was never delivered with the rest of it. The chips were cold and some tasted like they were frozen. I'm not impressed with your service and would like a refund.

I love the fact that mr cod deliver and are open til very late , sometimes even 2am on the weekends. The portions are very generous, cod is crispy on the outside (batter) and soft on the inside , just how cod should be. Traditional chip shop curry sauce which tastes amazing , I’d recommend asking for a large or buying 2 as the standard tubs of curry sauce are small

Been coming here for over 10 years. They always provide good portions and at a decent price and as far as I know the only place which does masala fish and chip ,my favourite. Only complaint difficult to find parking on Victoria Rd, otherwise all positive, definitely worth visiting.

First time.e trying Mr cod, sort of a last minute decision as no one fancied a roast because of the weather. So we decided fish n chips and with our usual local chippy closed we chose to give me cod a try and we weren't disappointed. I had haddock, the wifey a kebab and chips, mum cod n chips and my lil sister sausage and chips. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed there food. We ordered and collected in store. Was reasonable prices and decent size portions all round. A real light crisp batter and both fish cooked fresh. Friendly counter service too.

I have been a few times normally after a drink,, can’t fault the food!,, staff seem to be lovely,, must be hard for them with all those drunken customers,? But they conduct themselves very nice,, and the fish and chips is lovely,,,,,,,,, hot and fresh👍

Have had a few mixed kebabs from Mr Cod recently and they have been excellent , really good chips as well.

Stopped off here for a cod and chips last night. Wanted a saveloy too, but they don’t sell them. Battered sausage offered. Yuk. Greasy and cheap meat. Cod was ok, but more batter than fish. Large chips were measly sized portion, but tasted ok. Will definitely not be going back.

Place is neat, staff polite, the cod was really tasty with chips. Helped me with a few queries I had and did not seem bothered at all. Portions are good enough too.

Scampi was delicious but the chips were not chips. - they were scraps of potatoes. We ordered a large portion - sorry but this was scrappy and small and we were left still hungry. Will go somewhere else next time - what a let down especially when this place used to be so good

Honestly the worst portion of chips I've had in my life. That which was edible was either chewy and hard, (probably because they'd been sitting around being warmed up or fried several times) or oozing with grease, the kind of grease that turns the chips a dark colour. I had to throw half the portion in the bin as they were completely inedible.

Great fish & chips stop, does a verity of food but F&C; seems to be their main staple. Does delivery.

Ok, for real, the scoop; These chips are amongst the best chips we have ever - and I really mean ever - had in our lives. They are so good, that no words could do them justice. I mean seriously. If tripadvisor would tolerate profanity...

We were in Swindon for the day and came here for an early evening meal. We possibly looked a bit tired and overheated as the temperature was an unBritish-like thirty two degrees! We were the only customers but the server didn't look pleased to see...

Kebab con bonitas piezas de pollo. Aromatizantes tikka es un poco picante pero muy sabrosa. Ensalada siempre es muy fresco. Tienden a ordenar en línea a través de la comida, siempre llega JustEat espera muy caliente y entrega no está demasiado mal.

Sr. Cod Chip tienda en la cima de Victoria Rd en Swindon es la única tienda de chips en la zona y abre hasta tarde por las noches. La comida es muy sabrosa y justo lo que necesitas en un día frío. Tienen una zona de estar, tan perfecto cuando esté lloviendo o simplemente un lugar para sentarse después de su viaje de compras Old Town. Una gran relación calidad-precio.

Bueno para una fácil comida barata después de un turno largo en el trabajo, nada sorprendente, nada malo. Volveremos.

I have visited here many times . And I can honestly say that I've never been disappointed.Every time the food has been hot , freshly cooked and a fair price.

Ordered for four on line and was given a 40 minute delivery waiting time. This far exceeded this as the food turned up some 40 minutes after that. Delivery driver looked flustered and rushed, should have been a warning sign of what was to come. All correct food was sent although no salt and vinegar as asked. Whilst dishing up, the mega chicken burger had three sesame buns (just the tops) and was sloppy. The chips were cold, the fish was cold, the baked beans were not even heated and were stone cold. The onion rings were burnt. The only thing that was good were the chicken nuggets. Now, drinks. We ordered two cans of Coke, one can of Diet Coke and a 1.5 litre of Coke. The 1.5 litre of Coke didn't make it to our house. I phoned the takeaway to be told "when you next order, I will give it to you then for free". Firstly, I wanted it that night (and before there is why didn't you go and get one, my husband had a motorbike accident and I had children to look after hence the delivery) and secondly, they cannot give me something for free when I have paid for it. He then said "I will give you chips then", the point was I wanted what I ordered and for when I ordered it. He told me they were too busy to deliver (true I suppose as food was cold). Well they can keep the Coke but they have lost five customers at least from this family alone. And another point, as already stated by others, it is extremely rude to talk to others in a different language when you have a customer. They have not given me the option on the food ordering website to leave feedback, thank goodness for trip advisor.

An hour and a half later and I receive the completely wrong order to what I ordered, 2 burgers, 3 chips and a sausage later I soon realised that my chicken nuggets and chips were never going to make it to me. Rang Mr Cod and no apology or refund. Definitely won't be using again.... Just feel sorry for whosever order I received, there was a lot of food, I hope you enjoyed my nuggets!

its an end of night take away but I suggest you walk elsewhere in old town or down to the bottom of town. Unless you want uncooked chips, rank tasting food and grease. Then by all means try here.

Have ordered food from this place several times and have not had any problems. They seem to have a good range of items and fulfilled my request for an off-menu item. Price is reasonable and staff are friendly.

Fresh, hot and professional. Just 5.50 for large fish, chips and a can. Tasty and good value for money. Nice location with a few outdoor seats if it's nice outside.

This is the best chippy I have had!We were recommended to go here on our first visit to Swindon. The chips were amazing and the fried chicken was not only succulent it was really tasty (better than KFC).. The service was great too, mega quick!!!Definitely recommend

I opened the door to an Indian man holding my order. I smiled at him and held my hands out but he just had a straight face. No "good evening" or anything and mumbled something I couldn't understand. He wouldn't give me the order and I finally realised what he'd been saying was "Mr cod". I asked him to repeat a couple times and he was incredibly rude and almost shouted it at me. Don't blame me if your English is bad!!! I've never encountered such a rude delivery driver in my life. Once he's finally handed it over I said thanks and he just gave me a weird look and left. Shocking.

As a Northerner we love our chips cooked properly. The chips are expected to be cooked once to par boil and then again at a higher temperature to make them nice and crispy. The batter has to be thick for the fish and the fish cooked nice and moist. Both of these were excellently carried out by this well known shop. I thoroughly enjoyed this food I had purchased the other night. 2 things I would pick up on, but very minor, I would like to see gravy as an option and also wondered if the batter was beer battered but again this is not so much of an issue as to put them down in a review.Keep up the good work!

I had meant to go to the Trident Fish bar. But they had messed up and were doing electrical work on a Monday on a day they should have been open instead of the day before which might have been better for business!Mr Cod was my second option. It was terrible. No customer service from the grumpy girl behind the counter.Portion sizes aren't very good for the price. This is one to avoid in Old Town.

Been before and normally okay, not good but okay. Last night, called in to collect and got the worst treatment ever. Server was rude, rushing me to order and throwing food into the containers. Asked if I wanted salt and vinegar and I said yes. He might as well not bothered as he was so quick shaking it that it never reached the food!. On top of that, I paid by debit card and he charged me an extra 30p, I know it is only 30p however, he didn't tell me nor were there any signs to say that there would be a charge for paying by card. Chips were okay, fish very dry. At least the dogs enjoyed it as I couldn't eat it.

We quite often order take away for delivery from here.There are five or six of us usually when we order food from here. We have wide variance in our tastes, from the masala cod to the fried chicken, to pie and chips, burger and chips etc.We have always found the food to be good and plentiful.Sometimes delivery time can be quite a while, up to an hour, but this is because they are very popular.Always polite delivery staff.
