Being a loyal Mowgli customer from when the Bold Street Liverpool branch first opened in 2014, I was excited for my work friends to experience what I have been banging on about for months. However, this was not the experience I signed up for. Don’t get me wrong, the food was great as usual, but the Hostess on the other hand….. For context, any party of 10+ are required to select from the set menu. As our party was initially 9, we requested to eat from the main menu. As we were close to ordering, another friend joined us. The Hostess approached our table to inform us that we were not supposed to order from the main menu. She would however let this slide “if we have our hearts set on this”, however if we ever come back we would not be allowed to do this. (Spoiler: we will not be coming back) The attitude we were greeted with was nothing like I’ve experienced, something that does not belong in the Mowgli brand. We felt like we were school children and being reprimanded. Everyone on the table was taken aback by the way we were spoken to. One person specifically was particularly embarrassed and was made to feel like they had done something wrong. It was clear that this person was on a power trip and wanted to flex the minute power they had been provided as the hostess. This was fed back to the hostess at the end of the meal by the waitress (who was great btw). Despite this being fed back, the hostess did not hold her self to account, nor came over to address the situation. Will not be returning.

Have wanted to try Mowgli for ages as hear Nisha talks pasionally about it. Too the opportunity to book it while on a break in Manchester. Server was OK but had to ask a second time to explain how many dishes and when we made our choices on what she told us we were told "that's not what I said" said to just bring them as if too much we can take away. The reason it's not a zero star is that the chat bombs and bhel puri were both amazing and wish we had stopped there. Then had mowgli sticky chicken which was OK but nothing special, angry bird was so over cooked and half the dish was slaw. Curry wise we went for house lamb and agra ginger chicken...... Both tasted and looked the same and both swimming in ghee. Asked for extra spicy this was just extra sliced chillies on top. Roti bread is clearly bought in and again swimming in ghee. To add insult to injury we were then slapped with a 12.5% service charge.... Rude to say the least when food left but not interested why?? I have actually had a better curry in a very generic chain. So very disappointed as we had high hopes

Have been to mowgli at bold street Liverpool and Cheshire oaks and loved it so thought as we were in Manchester for a gig we would book this one...now I'm a size 16 I struggled to fit on the seat they put us on and it was uncomfortable it was really busy so moving wasn't an option Service was OK but the staff looked like they didn't want to be there What has happened to the portion sizes they are now tiny We waited a while for the food which came out in dribs and drabs with big waits inbetween The massala expresso martini was bland Overall underwelmed by mowgli now Used to be fantastic but for the money it's not worth it now

We had never tried Indian street food before but Mowgli was recommended by our son and we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit. The staff were really helpful taking us through the extensive menu to choose our dishes. We chose the Office Worker, the Lamb Corry and the Angry Bird and thoroughly enjoyed our first taste of Indian Street food. We look forward to returning. 🙂

Good food and comparable to the branch in Cardiff. I had the exact same meal as in Cardiff. The Manchester branch win on the amount of punch packed into the spiciness of the dish👍👍👍👍👍. The waitress was friendly and service was quick. One request (from a South African who knows what a bunny should be!) please put a mutton bunny on the menu🙏

Definitely worth visiting once if you are in the area. The ambience and the decor are excellent. We were passing by on the street and decided to enter it on a whim. We had the Fenugreek fries and yogurt bombs. While both the dishes were really good, we couldn't taste the bitter Fenugreek flavour, and so were a little disappointed. Other than that, everything was good. We also liked the lychee and rose maritini and the rose and raspberry gin and tonic.

My first time at Mowgli and it certainly won’t be my last. My family and I ordered the chat bombs, and bhelpuri for starters and loads of mains including the mother butter chicken, ma’s lamb chops, tea steeped chickpeas (yummm - who would think ???), temple dahl and a potato main (forgotten the name but it’s the last item on the Hindu kitchen section. I can’t wait to try some of the other items on the menu - family recommend cheese on toast and monkey wrap. Highly recommend a visit.

The curries really are exceptional; modern twists for the most part rather than trying to be authentic. Like all chain restaurants there are certain cash cow items on the menu to avoid - in this case, the puri and roti are never worth £4 each! I'll stick with the rice next time. But very nice meal.

I really really wanted to like this food. We ordered butter chicken with “rotti” which was basically a wrap from a packet. It tasted nothing like a curry or rotti. The chicken was a tad dry and the sauce was non existent. I also asked a couple next to us if they enjoyed their meal and they said they wouldn’t come back again… Tescos own butter chicken tastes more like an actual murgh makhani in India than what I had tonight…. Sorry for the bad review ;(

We went out for daughters 14th birthday. We've been before and love the atmosphere, decor and the food. We sat upstairs and everything was good. the server came over and had quite a patronising, regimented tone of what we could and couldn't have. the example was that we all had to have the same menu even though the food comes out in a sharer style. So instead of being able to order 4 feast meals to share between 5 we had to order 5. We ended up having to take a lot of food home because it was far too much. The food was good, but quite samey and you didn't really have any idea what was what so next time you went you wouldn't know what to get that you enjoyed the most. If my partner and I would have wanted the four included Proseccos she started to lecture about seeing ID for everyone at the table. As the upper floor emptied the servers were eager to take away our dishes even though we were still eating. I don't know whether the person serving had, had a bad day but it spoiled the occasion for me. I didn't want to complain as it was our daughters birthday and she had a friend with her, I don't think I will be returning though which is sad. The other bugbear is that I had just under £25 taken as a service charge automatically for a service that I found particularly poor and we were even joking at the end of the meal how bad the service was. Oh and the extra £1 charity donation. I find this practice of assuming you can charge 12.5% tip for service really quite bad and for the way we were spoken to was definitely not what I would have left. As someone who has business and employs customer service everyday, if you don't enjoy hospitality get out now before you ruin the business.

While in town we decided to eat out for dinner, my wife suggested Mawgli I wasn’t all that keen as I am not a fan of the chain restaurants but after looking at the menu on line we decided to give it a try….what a beautiful surprise I had and what a beautiful foodie experience we both had! We decided to choose four street food small plates along with rice and Roti….firstly the lovely professional helpful staff were just great, the food was just beautiful, I have had a lot of Indian food in my time and this seriously goes to the top with my favourites! The restaurant has a lovely feel to it with a nice atmosphere…. I am sure we will be returning to Mawgli in our future visits to Manchester!

Came here for a quick lunch on my own – went for the butter chicken with basmati rice and puri on the side and mango lassi to drink and everything was faultless. The portion sizes aren't huge but were ideal for lunch and the lassi was delicious. The staff had the perfect balance between being friendly and attentive and leaving me to enjoy my lunch and the price seemed pretty fair for central Manchester. Visited after attending Davis Cup tennis and when we arrived we were told that all of the chicken curry dishes had sold out (about 6 dishes), so menu limited. We decided there were still enough options and stayed. Had lamb, paneer and other dishes. All excellent and staff very friendly and helpful. When the bill came, 30% had been taken off the food because of the limited menu. We hadn’t complained, it was just done. I’ve given 4 stars because it was a limited menu but how it was managed was a great example of customer service, and we will return to try other dishes.

Lovely atmosphere too, just wish we got seated on the inside of the restaurant rather than the outer seating in the complex. Either way no worry as it was fabulous

The food is delicious! It may look like tiny portions, but I had to save half for the next day as I was so full. I got the Vegan tiffin selection and if I remember correctly, it was (Top left) Basmati rice - lovely (Top right) Temple Dahl - delicious (Bottom left) Picnic potatoes - too hot for me (Bottom right) Keema Karma - delicious (Right) Treacle tamarind fries - SO good And I had a roti, too We did order slaw but didn't realise it hadn't arrived until we had gone. There was a lot of food on order so won't be too harsh about them missing it. I'd absolutely recommend paying this place a visit and enjoying what they have on offer!

The food is to die for here, although it may be on the more expensive side it is worth it. You can really taste all the flavours of every dish that does feel homemade and reminds me of my grandmas food. We shared 9 dishes between 4 people with recommendations from staff of size of items. The restaurant looks lovely in the evening with hanging lights and leaves and even some seats at tables were swings. The menu contains an allergy menu on the back which was really helpful. I was intrigued by Mowgli’s story and wanted to try itout during my visit to Manchester . The place looks cute , unfortunately we weren’t able to get a table inside so sat outside . We ordered the Bhel and Dahi puri for starters, followed by channa and keralean chicken . Channa was a bit too tangy and not the best we’ve tried . Chicken curry was pretty good and went well with puri/rotis. We also got a mango lassi that turned out to be too sweet for us. Their craft beer Cobra was surprisingly good. We were quite happy with the food here but the service needs improvement. Our waitress forgot us as it got busier and we had to keep reaching out to another waitress. This was inconvenient and got in the way having a great experience. All in all, a good Indian restaurant in Manchester!

The food was exactly what we expected if not better. The Chat Bombs are literally the bomb! The food was tasty and in my opinion decent street food. So much so I would eat the food again. We'd just choose a different Mowgli. That's where the good ends. The service was so slow I felt myself aging while waiting even for my drinks order to be taken. The young lad who was waiting the table was rushed off his feet whilst the ?manager was chatting to her friends at the bar. No other staff were present. The food took an age to arrive, so much so they actually removed one of the courses from the bill without us even mentioning a complaint. This does not redeem the review. We watched the ? Manager turn people away at 1630 for a table saying that the restaurant (which was practically empty) was fully booked with tables booked for 1845. We then watched her lie to her colleagues by saying she hadn't turned them away but that they'd not bothered to stay. She then continues to tut and sigh when anyone unfortunately bothered or attempted to walk in for some food. This ? Manager had spent the majority of the meal opening and closing a door into the back of my partners chair so many times it started to resemble a drum and bass track. Not one member of staff asked how our meal was and it took a friend who was swigging Starbucks at the bar to mention that we may be dissatisfied with our meal. We enjoyed the food and the service from the young man but it appears that this restaurant is more of a social club for the ? Manager than anything else. For context the ? Manager was a young girl with reddy/black hair fashioned into a pony tail, not in uniform like the rest.

A large Indian street food restaurant across 2 floors inside the Corn Exchange, Manchester. Love the decor with all the fairy lights and rustic touches. Not a huge menu but plenty of choice for everyone, including vegetarians. There's also a large allergy section on the menu. My partner and I had 2 starters, the Treacle Fries @ £7.50 and the Ruby Wrap @ £9 which was halloumi on a wrap with spices, both were absolutely fabulous, extremely tasty. If you go you must try both of them, you definitely won't be disappointed. However, I was disappointed with the 2 main courses we ordered, hence only 4 stars. We ordered; Temple Dahl @ £5.50 and Mowgli Paneer @ £9.75 both of which were mildly spiced and lacked the depth and richness of the 2 starters. There also seems to be a lack of choice of rice and bread with just one rice @ £3.95 and 2 breads, Puri @ £3.95 and/or Roti @ £4. Our friends had the Office Workers Tiffin @ £20 each, which consisted of 4 small round dishes in tins which is good if you like to try different dishes, rice and bread are extra. They also do a vegetarian version for £18. Well worth a visit but next time we'll have 4 starters.

Do NOT go as a group!! This place absolutely sucks if you have more than 9 people... (Good luck if you have allergies too 💀) We were not told when booking that groups of 10 are penalised with a restricted menu. We were given a set menu with absolutely no choice other than dessert! The staff very much acted as if they were doing us a favour and would not substitute ANY items whatsoever. Onto the allergies... We had a peanut and chicken allergy in the group and there was no flexibility whatsoever when we asked to substitute one *set* curry for another (e.g options 1123 Vs 1234). We were simply told that no substitutions are allowed and that the allergic members should eat the allergen free food and visa versa. Furthermore any request just got us a patronising explanation of their set menu process. Overall, I can't comment on the main menu items as we weren't allowed them (or the service you get when you are allowed to choose items), but don't be fooled booking with groups of 10, it's absolutely rubbish.

Very overhyped. There are far better curry houses that deserve the recognition. We booked a table for 10 people, all of us were disappointed. When we arrived we were very confuse on what this ‘10 person menu’ was. The menu consisted of VERY VERY limited options quite possibly about 8 food options. Charging £20/30 per person unlike the normal menu where they don’t charge per person but instead charge the food prices like every other restaurant. When we asked the server for a normal menu she gave us an eye roll and kept cutting us all off when we was speaking to her. Finally we had the normal menu, the food was not good, rarely any meat on the curries, the lamb chops on the starter menu were mainly fat so only had 1 singular bite that weren’t devoured by fat. The bombs were lovely I won’t complain about that. Too small of a portion for the prices, I understand they’re meant to be fancy and high end, but the portions are as if they were meant for a child. The prices came fair for 10 people if we had regular portions, but for MOWGLIS portions? I’d expect less charges. They added 40% tip?! Which brought the bill to a whopping £350! When we asked to take it off, the server questioned us and said ‘may I ask why?’. Not going back. There are better places that deserve the recognition.

The combination of the angry chicken and the slaw was truly exceptional, and I must say that it was the best slaw I've ever had the pleasure of tasting.

MOST OVERRATED FOOD IN MANCHESTER! first they serve tiny portions so you have to order 2-3 dishes per person. The bill was at the end 70 pounds (including tip which was not optional) but the food was super awful. We had chicken, fish, rotis, chickpeas, lentils, rice and other stuff. Really everything was so tasteless and watery. it was super unpleasant to eat. The rotis were made out of whole grain instead of white flour. Everywhere in the world they are made of white flour. Who in hell had such a stupid idea? They were tasteless, unseasoned, dry as the Sahara and lacked the tipical butter flavor. All in all a super unauthentic indian experience. Stay away from this place of blandness and spent your money on something useful.

Went at 5.30 on a thursday there were 5 of us. All the tables outside were empty and some inside. The man serving looked on his computer for a few minutes and at us like we were an inconvenience and decided they couldnt fit us in as the restaurant was full. Doubtful.. looked like they just couldnt be bothered. Avoid go to The Real Greek instead.

Food was stunning, it has a freshest comes first attitude to the order of your dishes & the food is slightly bigger then a tapas plate unless you go for a plate with chow in the name and then it is quite abit bigger.

The service was really good, and I've been to Mowgli a few times, the food never disappoints. I get the yoghurt chat bombs everytime and there was a coconut and almond curry that was especially nice! Really good

The food, cocktails and service were brilliant!! Had six dishes plus roti between two and we were stuffed but finished it all, every dish was delicious and will definitely be coming back again! The host Liv was incredibly helpful and a great front for the restaurant!

The food was abysmal, just tasted of salt. We had a 2 sharing platters and some additional dishes, only 1 of them was ok, and I stress ok. The rest of it was shockingly bad. Server argued with us when we told them it wasn't nice. 4 people eating and not a single dish was finished. Would never come back and would strongly advise you don't go here

Have eaten here a few times but today was incredibley disappointing. Ordered the ginger chicken and chickpea curry. Both were watery, completely tasteless and just hadn’t been cooked properly. Portions were also ridiculously small. Probably the worst part Indian meal I have ever had. Such a shame, as I have enjoyed eating there in the past.

Four of us went for an early dinner before a midweek concert. I booked online with no issue. The staff were friendly at attentive, the food was great, and although not cheap, the price is very fair for the quality and quantity you get. I recommend getting ordering one of the tiffin boxes if you can't decide what to get. The only thing that felt a bit odd was that they automatically add a 12.5% gratuity to the bill. I think customers should be able to choose the amount they wish to leave for a tip, or they could just raise prices and staff wages by 12.5% . However I would eat here again and recommend to a friend.

The food is not upto the mark, salty and pre-made. But the service was amazing and all the staff was really supportive and friendly. Do not go here for Indian food, it's not Indian food.

Amazing selection of dishes from Mowgli - I would recommend the Mowgli Slaw, which was delicous. The staff were extremely friendly and service was great! Great selection of vegan dishes. This is one of my favourite places to go.

Gorgeous fresh food, small tapas like portions costing around £7-£10 per dish, 2-3 dishes recommended per person. I had the Yoghurt Chat Bombs, monkey wrap, and slaw. All good was so nice, fresh & wonderfully presented, the slaw was tasty but had sultana in which I wasn’t so knee but easy to pick out 😂 Mango Lassi was nice and refreshing and complimented the meal well. A few vegetarian dishes on the menu, some indoor seating is a little “snug” especially for multiple dishes and 4 people, however Waitress found us alternative seating with a little more elbow room 😂 Staff were friendly and attentive, especially our lovely waitress Alex. I would absolutely recommend it here ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I loved the delicious Indian vegetarian food. The presentation in steel tiffin carriers was a nice touch. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Been driven to distraction by a friend begging us to try Mowgli after her first visit earlier this year. Now I know what the fuss was about. Booked a meal for 8 to celebrate 2 birthdays and a completed Manchester marathon. The staff are a credit to you. The right side of attentive and very polite and friendly. The food was Blumin lovely. We had a right assortment and not a morsel was left. One of the very fuddy eaters claims the lamb was the best thing he'd ever eaten. Was super impressed with the veggie choices. Thank you. We will be back.

Rating is street food is 10/10, main course 6/10 for flavour but 4/10 for the price. Recommend highly for the street food, avoid for the bland, overpriced, mains. Especially the meat - gristly and had bones in it as well as being bland. Staff are lovely.

Nice food, serving in tins a bit different, pricey but good and dog friendly. Little cramped in some seats but not bad for the Corn Exchange.

Sadly was disappointed by the service. Got offered 4 wrong dishes, was waiting for 30-40 minutes for our dishes, after being asked again what we ordered, despite ordering clearly. £20 service charge for only 5 of us. Was really looking forward to this and left feeling deflated because of how expensive it was for poor service.

Vibrant Indian Tapas Experience with One Major Drawback Mowgli in Manchester offers Indian tapas-style dining with exceptional small plates perfect for sharing. However, the music choice doesn't quite align with the restaurant's ambience. Despite this, Mowgli is a worthwhile dining destination in Manchester.

Proper Holt Brewery pub with a good range of real ales, on draft and in bottles. Packed on a Friday afternoon, mainly with groups of guys, and a good atmosphere. Seating options are a little bizarre in parts of the pub, but it’s bigger than it first appears.

Fantastic regional Chinese meal, we went on a Tuesday evening, there was a fair few groups dining, but there was plenty of room. Service was really quick and friendly. The food was fantastic! We had dry-pot rabbit, braised aubergine with pork mince, dumplings, Hunan egg fried rice and dry fried sizzling chicken. Everything was hot, fresh and really flavoursome. The braised aubergine was the standout dish, aubergine was tender and silky smooth with a mince that was packed full of flavour and spice. Delicious, can't wait to come back!

Disappointing evening. The service was good and atmosphere of the place was nice but the food was average at best. We had such high hopes as the menu reads like a dream but had to send back a couple of dishes for being undercooked. In my opinion it's overpriced for what we received
