If you like seafood you’ll have to look far and wide to find better. Outstanding quality. I had crab claws to start and lobster tagliatelle for main. The starter was one of the best I’ve had - and I’m not as young as I was - simply terrific. My partner has bass. All round would highly recommend. Very different vibe from the Belfast Mourne but every bit as good.

Our dinner out in the Mourne Seafood bar was a very pleasant experience. Your restaurant experience should start with the booking, a very friendly gentleman took my booking with warmth and efficiency. Walking in we were made to feel welcome immediately. The restaurant is well presented with a nautical theme. The food was suberb, with a wide variety of seafood dishes. My only reservation would be the staff not in uniform, so to allow easy identification and it would compound I think the overall high calibre of this restaurant. I will definetly return.

Great seafood chowder, scampi and lemon posset, perfect meal but 3 courses is too much for me as portion size is generous. Lovely atmosphere as and friendly staff makes this the perfect place to stop in Dundrum. We do regularly. They also do meat dishes if you don't like fish

From start to finish all we can say is Magnifique from entry to departure, the team members on duty went out of their way to be helpful and so knowlegable about the delicious shellfish dishes we wished to order. For starters we ordered Crab Claws which were delicious, if a tad tricky to negotiate opening them, but we perservered and managed to enjoy. For mains we both had scampi, my sister opting for Battered Scampi and I Breaded Scampi, and I sampled the Battered Scampi and never have I tasted such light Batter a joy to eat, and so fresh, you could taste the sea! All in all a most magnifique experience so thank you so very much Wayne and the other Owner sorry did not catch your name, and the nice lady who looked after us too. Simply thee best Speciality Shellfish dishes around!

Visited here with my Father & toddler. The food is beautiful, absolutely faultless. The male waiter who served us was very friendly & helpful. The only 'downside' is the price - £11 for a child's scampi & chips and £23 for adult cod & chips is very overpriced. We appreciate that everything is fresh, but as a result of the price we won't be regular customers.

Having precooked a table, service was poor. When challenged waitress advised that the owner had had a premature baby and there was a shortage of staff. This affected our meal as firstly one drink was spilt by the waitress and never replaced as promised, also additional bread ordered and never arrived. Overall very disappointed as on previous visited we had been totally satisfied.

Wow, just wow. Definitely the best lunch I’ve had for years. Four of us went out for a walk and a very late lunch on Easter Sunday (we arrived at 4.15pm). We were welcomed by the extremely friendly staff and seated promptly. The staff member who took our order was so pleasant and explained the sauce that came with my order of sea bass. The meal was served promptly and it was amazing. Four fat fillets of sea bass cooked to perfection, fried potatoes, some florets of broccoli and a sauce that was just incredible. As you do, I’d a nibble of each of my friends lunches and, although completely different, they were all superb. I live in Belfast and eat out a lot there but I have rarely eaten such good food and experienced such good service.

We had an early midweek booking and were excited to get some oysters, which they had thankfully. My husband and i shared 6 natural and 6 baked - there were fantastic, the freshness of the naturals was evident. For main my husband had the haddock and i had the curried monkfish, neither disappointed.the only minor comment was that they didnt have the wine i had wanted, but the staff were quick to make alternative recommendations and we were happy with what we got in the end. They also make an excellent espresso martini.Service was efficient and friendly and we cannot wait to go back.

The restaurant itself is not pretentious so as a family we felt very comfortable, especially given that we had a two year old with us, we were seated beside the fish tank, which for some may have turned them vegetarian but the two year old was kept amused by the fish. The food was delicious from start to finish. The langoustines were beautifully cooked, the squid was tender and the haddock was flaky yet moist. The scampi was perfect and came with the most intense tartar sauce. The trimmings of fries and salad were fresh and dressed with a delicate oil and vinegar dressing. One of our party had steak, it was declared as the best he had ever eaten. We definitely prefer this restaurant to its sister in Bank Street.

On arrival for our Sunday lunch (which we had struggled m get through in t he phone to boo and had no replies to emails) we were told there were no oysters or mussels. Luckily we weren’t after either bum feel this immediately would be disappointing for many customers coming to a seafood restaurant and this was proved when a later table left as soon as they heard this. We expected a full range of seafood options yet the menu was rather limited I.e scampi and chips, fish and chips though there were extra specials on thankfully which we ordered from. Thankfully we also ordered bread to start which took half an hour to come (bearing in mind we appeared to be the first table of the day) and had to wait a full hour from arrival at least for our mains. The food was tasty enough but not of the calibre the mourne seafood name should be living up to. Worst of all, my partner found a hair in his dish whilst halfway through. Service was poor to begin with, servers lacked friendliness or attention to detail. They also were drinking coffee at the bar every chance they got in sight of patrons which I felt was unprofessional. We ran out of drinks and struggled to catch anyone’s attention to reorder. Only when one server saw my partner checking his watch as we were waiting on the mains were we told our food was coming now. Thankfully the manager mdiscounted drinks and starter to make up for the hair but to be honest I wasn’t that happy to pay for the dish at all. We have never been to the Belfast restaurant so I’m unsure if any better. Won’t be returning. Very glad we didn’t make the trip on one ends earn.

I took the family to Mourne Sea Food Dundrum as a treat to beat the COVID Blues. We felt comfortable with their spaced tables and Covid safety arrangements. Yet again the food was spectacular. The pot of mussels starter was a hit but beaten by the coconut prawns. The mains were as ever magnificent, the calamari was tender and tasty. Cod with the lightest batter, a range of veggie options but the chilli and garlic infused linguine was awesome My personal favourite was the yellow fin tuna, a really healthy main course. The lemon posset was special, light and citrus, dressed with fresh raspberry. To finish a cheeky expresso martini finished the night. Don’t take my word for it try it your self! The guys here have struggled like the rest of us over the last few months and need some winter trade but boy do they deserve it. Compliments to the waiting staff who were brilliant as ever. See you again soon.

Top quality food here. Rolled up here on a Friday night without any booking, and they happily gave us a table for 30 minutes later. Warm enough to have some pleasant craft beers and wine outside. Wonderful calamari starters. My wife had beautiful langoustine scampi, and I had fresh tasty battered haddock. Paid the bill and going out the door realised they never charged the drinks, so I went back to pay for same and was told my honesty was so appreciated, they were on the house! Our first meal out as a family since lockdown was to this relaxed restaurant while holidaying nearby. Members of the party were talking about what they wanted to eat before we went and were delighted to find almost everything on the menu when we got there.A flexible menu which allowed some to have 2-3 starters instead of a main. The batter they make is delicious and almost tempura style. All seafood and fish was delicious, with great tasty chips. Nice wine at reasonable prices.Although busy, tables were well spaced. Staff were efficient and attentive but not intrusive. If we’d had time we would have tried to go back, but getting booked again was likely to have been a challenge.Highly recommended for lovers of fish and seafood in an unfussy environment. Great ( expensive) art work on the walls.

Very Disappointed. We visited here just after Covid 19 Lockdown restrictions had been eased. There was a bottle of hand-sanitizer at the door on way in, otherwise there were no safety precautions taken by the waiting staff, which made me feel very uncomfortable. The room was bright and airy but somehow lacking in atmosphere, after all it is a Fish Restaurant, it needed some nets, buoys or some fishing gear draped on walls. My husband and I had whitebait which was certainly fresh but cold. There was a Chowder Soup which was excellent and the Crab Cakes were “finished” at 1.30pm!! 2 half portions of mussels in a creamy sauce which was delicious but the mussels were tiny and again cold. 1 Risotto which was very spicy and cool in temperature, 1 Sea Bass which looked and was lovely. 1 out of a party of four was satisfied. I was so disappointed as I have wanted to visit this restaurant for a very long time….well that box has been ticked and not to be repeated.

Have been here many times and had fabulous family evenings - sadly our visit on Friday was not one of them! Have given 3 stars due to previous good experiences, but would have rated this visit 1. This used to be a friendly, relaxed place to go for amazing seafood, it now seems like the owners’ focus is on the Belfast restaurant - which is still excellent - as the service has become stilted, slow and inattentive: indifferent acknowledgement on arrival; despite only being half full and waiter walking past table several times, we had to ask for drink orders to be taken after 10 mins; wine took another 10mins arrive; 30min+ wait between starters and mains; no check to ask if more drinks were required. Starters were excellent, particularly the langoustines and squid, but only 1 of 4 mains lived up to expectations - both cabbage/hake meals had a pool of water in the bottom of the bowls, and salmon/potato dish was so overloaded with butter it was almost inedible. Our views were politely expressed when asked by the waiter how we’d enjoyed our meals however his indifferent attitude led us to decide not to stay for dessert and another drink. All in all a very disappointing night. I hope things improve as this is a favourite haunt for our family.

It’s all about location and accessibility. We are so lucky to live in Dundrum and only have a few minutes walk to Murlough Bay and the best seafood restaurant right on our doorstep. We have been frequent eaters at this place for the last couple of years and it really deserves its reputation. Great quality fresh produce locally sourced. Chris,Aidan and their team provide a service with a smile, imparting their knowledge on the ever changing seasonal menu and choice of yummy wines. The boys know our favourite! We love mixing up the menus and creating small plates to share like tapas. No request, however bizarre is ever refused. No snobbery whatsoever, anything goes! Our past experiences have been grand here but on Sunday night the staff was so rude and everyone could here the chefs in the kitchen shouting and mucking around like children. The staff are usually so professional and friendly. The guy at the till was lazily sprawled across the counter playing with his pH and when anyone came in etc he sighed and made it obvious that he had a bad attitude. Had a lovely visit here on a Sunday afternoon. We shared the calamari which is outstanding- the batter is light and close to the squid. My girlfriend had the prawn linguine which looked great and tasted good too. However, it was maybe ever so slightly on the oily side. I had the fish and chips which is as good as you will find. Service was very friendly and quick.

After a terrible visit some years ago, we decided to try this place again following some recommendations and we were not disappointed. Our group was 5 adults and 2 children and all were very pleased. Great food served in a friendly atmosphere by very personable staff. Recommended.

I've been a fan of this restaurant since it opened and used to make it a regular stop off following a mountain climb, especially for the Thai mussels. Unfortunately in recent years the food quality has dipped a little which is a pity because I really want this restaurant to work. The Thai mussels have long been absent from the menu so I went for the white wine and garlic version - EXCELLENT, and reminiscent of my early dining experiences here. Langastine scampi for mains was well cooked but covered in so much batter I couldn't actually taste it! To accompany, a girth of big fat (?frozen) chips that were so dry they required more tartare than was supplied. My wife's cod risotto was tasty but over seasoned and the cod overcooked. Also, her parmesan and truffle fries (an old favourite) were a far cry from how they used to be - now covered with mayo and pre-grated packet cheese, not the oily freshly grated originals. Please let's get back to focusing on the seafood with lighter sides. Hadkis (in Belfast) do great chips and copying theirs could be an easy initial improvement. Great service as always and a pleasant dining experience.

This used to be such a lovely restaurant with great food and a nice atmosphere and we had many great meals in here over the years. However on my last two visits the food and service has gone massively downhill. On our last two visits the staff have either been very cold and unattentive or on one occasion just plain rude.

Was looking forward to dinner here on a Saturday night as I knew it had a great reputation. The decor was lovely, no issues with the staff, the placed lacked atmosphere but may have been due to a quiet Jan. I was left underwhelmed by the flavour of the food for the price. Paella with prawns and chorizo was £17 it was served to me in a small blue shallow bowl, I counted 2 prawns and it tasted just ok. It just didn’t compare to other restaurants for example in Belfast where it is served in a cast iron pan with whole prawns etc for less. There was no wow factor. The other courses again were just ok but there was no punch with flavour. The food is pub grub at best and should be priced accordingly.

I came with my family for a birthday dinner and we were made so welcome as soon as we arrived. There was a good selection on the menu and I can highly recommend the squid starter and the scampi mains was beautiful. My husband had the totally amazing chowder as a starter and the cod risotto as mains. The food is just beautiful, the atmosphere warm and welcoming and we will be back.

A friend and I visited this place for the first (and last) time not so long ago. A waiter escorted us to a very small table situated in a corner, which felt awkward and cramped, and on the outskirts of the main seating area. I politely asked a waitress if it would be possible to be seated at a different table. We were shown to a better table, but it had plates and remains of food on it, and she brusquely told us to go and sit at an adjacent table while she cleared the designated table.

We went for dinner on a Friday evening. The restaurant was busy but not packed. The room we were in was a bit shabby. More like a sit-in fish and chip shop than a nice restaurant. The chairs were heavy kitchen chairs and not particularly comfortable. As the room we were in was in the far end of the restaurant it was difficult to attract the attention of the staff. We had asked for a delay between starters and mains. The staff were able to meet this request perfectly. However when our food arrived it was again a bit too much like a chip shop and not enough like a restaurant. One of our meals was fantastic, proper restaurant quality beautifully presented and perfectly cooked (whole Sole). The other 2 mains were very disappointing. Scampi and smoked haddock risotto. It was all a bit of a mish-mash. And while not ridiculously expensive it was not cheap either. Two starters and three mains totalling approximately £65. Then the crowning insult was being charged for sparkling water which we had not had. I pointed it out to the waiter, who immediately removed it, but did not apologise.

This is a brilliant restaurant, always buzzing but there are times you just want something simple to take away. Their takeaway fish and chips are as excellent as the food you might enjoy sitting in. The criteria is very simple...hot substantial chips, a crisp golden batter around a succulent fish. On that criteria they score big time so this place gets a massive tick in the box if you are passing and want something quick to take away. All good.

Been here several times before and food is always great. Lovely meal this evening. I had the paella and my wife enjoyed the hake. Just a little disappointed with the portion sizes which seem to have shrunk. I’m not a big eater but he paella was bearly bigger than a starter portion size.

This is my favorite restaurant with seafood. I'm never disappointed. always everything is fresh, well-seasoned and beautifully served. I also like to decorate the restaurant and its style. Even when I come back from trekking in the nearby mountains and I am not elegant dressed, I will gladly go there for lunch and feel good. everyone is very friendly and the food is delicious. I also love how a hot fire is lit up on cold days and evenings. I recommend visiting this place, for example, on the way to Newcastle.

Lovely atmosphere, fantastic staff, out of this world food. Just the right level of attention from staff, no pushy pressure to get you to order, plenty of time given to choose, staff were friendly, happy and polite. The food was the best we've had in a long time. Usually when we eat out we always say "Could have done that as well or better at home." At Mourne Seafood it was "Worth every penny, fresh, bursting with flavour, hot and just the right amount." Extremely good value for money and we'll definitely be back.

popped in here on a weekend away and was blown away. Some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. Batter was crispy, chips were fluffy in the middle. Thats all you need to know. Highly recommended

Used to be big lovers of Docs and its food but it just hasn't been the same since its makeover in May 2024. It has lost its way a little bit, it doesn't know exactly what it is. It used to be a combined fish and chips takeway with dinning in, but it now aims itself as a restaurant experience but with the same expectations. Menu options are now not what they used to be, no battered options on menu other than fish for example. And when customisations or variations are requested we got told a hard no, the chef doesn't accomdate changes so the kitchen is no longer as accommodating as it used to be. Also, as others have said, service is very slow and staff are very by the book. We waited close to an hour for our three mains, all of which were straight off the menu as no customisations were allowed as I said, so no excuses. As I said we used to be big lovers of Docs but unfortunately for them there are many other options now available along the main, including some great pubs, that do much better food and service. I just can't really figure out any what Docs is anymore with regard to its identify, food and service.
