Morton Park Beefeater in Darlington

We visited a couple of times while staying in the attached Premier Inn. The pub is beginning to look very tired. Lots of the chairs are very worn, and the tables are sticky. The toilets were fairly clean but had an unpleasant aroma. We had prebooked breakfast and had to wait to be seated by a stressed out looking member of staff. It was very busy, mainly due to the Premier Inn hosting a lot of government funded guests. Breakfast was good. Continental and full English breakfast were plentiful and constantly replenished. Coffee wasn’t so good, provided by machine but the quality could have been better. Not sure it would be my first choice if visiting the area again.

I had breakfast at Morton Park this morning with my daughter and two children. Despite the restaurant being extremely busy everything ran very smoothly. The hot food was constantly topped up and there were plenty of items in the Continental section. The staff were friendly, approachable and working extremely hard the whole time. Looking forward to our next visit.

We came for a celebratory birthday meal for our daughter. Service was great, they were very attentive and polite Speed of service was just right, didn’t feel rushed but didn’t feel we were waiting round for ages Food was what you would expect. Not sure the prices reflect in the quality of food, but with everything going up it is to be expected

It is very lovely and hassan and jack were really helpful and this place is a really good place to come with the family Kids eat free at this level of service is a must.

What fantastic service from Leanne and the other staff at Morton Park. They are so polite and attentive. The nachos are the best I've ever had. Along with the ribs and chicken combo, the ribs were cooked to perfection by James the chef.

We’ve had a great few nights at the hotel and ate at the beefeater a couple of nights for ease. The staff have been great. Jack L is a funny yet professional guy who made us feel very welcome - likes to craic a joke too.

Found this lovely place to eat while visiting family. The food was fantastic, served hot by really friendly and attentive staff. By the end of the night we were on first name terms with Jenny and nothing was too much trouble for us, we would definitely recommend eating here! We will be back!

Great place for either breakfast, lunch or dinner. Really enhances the hotel stay. Especially like the friendly and professional staff and would callout both Dan & Jack. Great location.

Good food but when I asked for baroque sauce they told me it was £1.99 extra of which I replied are you joking me. Which she said no. So for that reason I will never be returning. Regards

Exceptional food cooked by James and served by Gennie. The classic prawn cocktail was delicious. The veggie burger with cheese fries was hot, meticulously presented and fresh. Best one I have ever tasted. Staff warm friendly and helpful. Well done !!!

On Friday 31st January '25, I had booked a Table for 1230 for my wife, her friend and myself. I can say nothing but good of the service, which was perfect, and the food quality very good indeed. Thank you so very much, we will be back. Mike Marshall

Great food and service. Ordered steak Diane and it was cooked perfectly. We were told that Sam was cooking. Dan and Paul have the place well organised and the service shows in this. Would definitely recommend and will come back again.

We thought we would try the menue for our first time , my plant based burger was an absolute disgrace, obviously a cheap frozen very small burger, the bun was stale ,chips undercooked, portions small; my wife couldn't get her first choice as it wasn't available so opted for side portion of nac n cheese and garlic bread and both were very poor. We will not be returning to eat here anymore. Not a good selection of plant based food. Actually the worst food we've eaten in a very long time.

We went for Sunday dinner with the children. All I can say the food wasn’t great yesterday. Orderd three roast beef dinner. The beef was more like a steak that had been. Sliced. Roast potatoes. Not nice. Also order two. Sausage and mash dinners. Mash was horrible and sausages had no taste. Both kids left. There’s Husband Reyes sausage. And said no taste to them. The other child had burger and chips and he said it was fine This is a first for having a disappointing dinner from here Usually they are nice. But this put us off going again

Absolutely brilliant customer service from Leanne and Lisa as always. Ordered a steak and the steak came exactly how I ordered it. Couldn’t have asked for more from the young ladies that served me. Would definitely come back again.

I had too wait with my family 10 minutes before I was shown a table, the food was good but not a buffet as expected and had to wait 10 minutes for more bread for toast and ran out of yoghurt for my grandson. It clearly could be seen that the staff were over worked. Would I go back in the future, possibly?

We spent Christmas Day with friends and family at the Beefeater in Darlington, and it was fantastic! The food was absolutely delicious—while I only managed to snap photos of the starters, every dish was generous in size and tasted amazing. Despite being incredibly busy, the staff were attentive, friendly, and kept everything running smoothly. A big thank you to the team for making our Christmas Day so special. We truly appreciated it! 😊

Been here quite a few times. Today, Christmas Day, was fantastic. Staff were working their socks off with the full restaurant. Everything was well organised and no waiting. I expected some slight delays, bu t none. The Christmas lunch was really good and plenty of it, especially the beef which was cooked perfectly. Really nice all around. Thanks to the staff for making it a really great day for us and my 91 years old mother whose birthday was today. Nice to see the manager getting stuck in, too. 8 very happy customer's. Thanks 😊

Had Christmas Dinner and it was fantastic. Could not ask for anything more from the staff who gave up their Christmas. Top job bye everyone. Will definitely be back again

Working away from home I stayed in the premier inn I had the most simple meal burger and chips and pudding and custard both starter and main were cold and of poor quality barge was no better that McDonald’s pudding and custard both starter were bland

This place is an unexpected culinary gem! Absolutely not what I expected to experience from a Beefeater attached to a Premier Inn in the middle of an industrial estate, but I've had two meals there in a row and both were absolutely spot on! The chicken burger was tender and well cooked and sits up there with one of the best I've ever had. Then there was the surf and turf - juicy tender prawns, nicely cooked veg, crispy calamari and perfect medium rare steaks. No disrespect to a Beefeater, but the chefs are destined for bigger things!

Food was lovely. Staff were fab, especially Leanne who was extremely accommodating and lovely.

Went for early evening meal after picking up grandchildren from school. No one in except for us still it took until nearly 5.30pm until desert arrived and then waitress got order wrong. Service and customer service as poor as it gets on this occasion. Will not be returning.

Whet for an early evening meal on a Friday, 7 adults and a 2 year old, my mum has dementia and Sam who served us was great with her, this allowed me to relax and enjoy a wonderful meal. Two of us tried something from the festive menu and it looked and I have been told tasted good too. Sam made sure we had all we needed and even put up with our 2 year old chatting to her. A lovely evening, thank you.

Nice beefeater, plenty of parking. Personally, it's the location that loses a factor for me, but if you want to shop at the nearby outlets it's handy for a bite also

I Ordered Fish, triple cooked chips and salad instead of peas, I didn’t get any salad, I’d be surprised if the chips were triple cooked at best double cooked but probably only cooked once. The fish was okay but not brilliant. Cost £14.99 not very good value. My husband had Baconburger which he said was alright but not that good. Cost £16.49, not very good value.

Been to the Beefeater many times & personally never had a bad meal or experience here. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Was Served by Lisa who is always brilliant & nothing is too much trouble. Look forward to going back soon.

Staying over for a few days for work. Got a meal plan for the days I'm here. (Staying at the premier inn) I recommend you don't eat from here, I had a burger and all night I've been on the toilet and being sick.

Have eaten here on quite a few occasions and have never had a bad experience. The food is always tasty, the staff are always friendly and it is very reasonably priced. It was nice to be recognised by a couple of the staff members, especially Leanne, on the latest visit despite not having eaten here in a little while. I always enjoy my visits and feel it is well worth the travel, living nearly an hour away. I am looking forward to my next visit

We were served by Leanne who couldn't be more accommodating, everything was excellent and we felt at home. James our chef was perfect all our food tasted great and was presented so nicely. Would definitely come again.

Decent breakfast but the coffee was better than expected. Jack L was particularly helpful and cheerful, a real asset to the establishment.

Had breakfast on Sunday absolutely fantastic great service

Staff very pleasant. Food was crap, anything in breadcrumbs ie deep fried was over cooked tasting burnt. Generic food at best, cost about £77 for 4 of us, wished I'd eaten elsewhere.

It took nearly 40 minutes for the food to arrive and was luke warm and mixed grill was terrible. The gamon was dry, the steak was meant to be rare was more than well done. It took over 10 minutes just to get a second pint. We sat with plates on end of table for over 15 minutes before getting child's desert. Members of staff never smiled the entire time. I hate complaining, but there was only about 8 tables of people in so I'd understand if it was chocker but there was almost 1 staff per table?? How can the service and food be so terrible?? Never going back.

Me and the wife were recommended by a friend to try the beefeater for breakfast so as it was my birthday yesterday the wife treated me. We arrived here for breakfast around 10.20 to be told it finishes at 1030. The gentleman in a black shirt met us at the door and soon found us a table and told us to help ourselves to teas and coffee and toast and cereal. He then took our breakfast order. Which arrived to our table very promptly so we were really please with that. And when I left to pay our bill I said to the same gentleman black shirt lol compliments to the chef who is called jane apparently so well done jane. And we'll done to the rest of the staff on shift yesterday morning. We will defo be back for breakfast. Keep up the good work 👌👏👊

Lovely evening meal, food was great and service was amazing - looked after by ‘Leanne N’ who could not have been anymore helpful, constantly running around to serve, help etc. Very friendly, this kind of customer service makes all the difference.

Took over 30 minutes to come to take our food order. Out of 8 meals 3 had to be returned. One competely wrong, one steak ordered as medium rare and came well done, then a burger that was near cremated. The person tried to eat it and when they couldn't and mentioned it to the manager was advised they should have mentioned it sooner (bearing in mind we had already had to return two meals by this point) then they said sorry. Yes a replacement was offered for each, but the rest of us had finished eating by the time they came out. Poor experience. The food that was done correctly was good, but the service let it down.

Food arrived 45 mins after ordering it and even though the bar was empty it seemed like an eternity to get a drink

Visited here this afternoon and have never felt so unwelcome in an establishment. Asked for a Madri was told very bluntly ‘no’. When told no and asking why, I was informed there was a ‘glass on top of the tap’. Whilst being berated, I furthermore was told that a glass on top a tap means that the barrel needs changing. I mean, it costs nothing to be polite and not abrupt, but how is an average person supposed to know because you put a glass on top of something, the barrel needs changing. To add to insult, sat down (whilst ordering food) a lady with an Eastern European accent stormed up to mine and my partner’s table and said ‘your not ordering food you need to move there’. Had my garlic flatbread, pint and left. I found the establishment very imitating, rude and disrespectful to customers. I visited Toby Carvery (earlier on in the day) and found their service/food impeccable and would highly recommend that you visit there instead!

The food was terrible and over priced, the greeter was unwelcoming and made us feel like we were an inconvenience! The only shining star was our waitress, I think she was called Leanne, she was friendly, helpful and attentive thank you.

My go-to place for all you can eat breakfast on a Sunday. Sunday are best as it's self service rather than ordering from your table. There's coffee and tea, all your English breakfast favorites plus juices, fruit, cereals, pastries, toast and yogurt. Top tip, get there before 9 to avoid the rush!

Great food. One of the best burgers I've had in a pub. We were served by Lisa who was very friendly and kept our drinks topped up.

Went for tea worst food over cooked chicken, warm lettuce fillet steak was frozen and watery came in 2 pieces will not be going back

Probably one if the worse meals we've ever had! Salmon overcooked, completely dried up at one end served with cold fries. The side order of vegetables, costing over £3, were overcooked and unedible. Fries replaced but came after I'd finished the salmon. My partners grilled chicken breast and ribs were completely overcooked and dried up. Sweetcorn like rubber. This was sent back and a replacement meal came out. Slightly better but appalling quality. My partner left most of it. Terrible food poorly cooked. Compensation- a glass of house wine. Stay away and eat elsewhere.

Premier Inn breakfasts can be a bit hit or miss but this is one of the good ones. Staff are really friendly too.

food was not nice I hot the 4 starters only thing that was ok was the chicken strips came out feeling sick its definitely not the beat for the price as well. got prawn they came out cold and tasted awful very rubbery just wouldn't go back

This will be the first and last experience I will ever have at the beefeater darlington as me and my friend turned up to try the all you can eat breakfast as we have heard great things on the service and quality of the business. So we stood for a good 10 min before been served by a member if staff who instantly didn't make us feel welcome he found us a table at the far end of the pub which there was multiple empty clean tables we could of sat at. But we discovered why he was rude and abrupt and it was because we didn't book in advance before arriving and also that the kitchen was shutting early, we had 4 min to order so we felt like we were put on the spot so as we told him it's was okay we go elsewhere he just stormed off.. never in my life I have had dismel customer service and hospitality. I hope for future custom he can change is attitude for better.

Booked in for Sunday Dinner at 5.30pm, only to be told (again), that there was no Sunday dinners left, they had ran out at 2.30pm. This is the second time recently that we have gone there for Sunday dinner and been disappointed, the first time they told us they had run out at 2pm! A family followed us in and they too were told this, they were very disappointed too. I chose the chicken and rib combo and was told that they'd run out of fries and only had the bigger chips, the family ordered a sauce for a steak and was told that they didn't have that either! Come on Beefeater, who is doing the ordering of food to be running out of so many things by the dinner time service? that's ridiculous. We won't be going back there for Sunday dinner, as we won't risk it again. The service was good, apart from being told about the lack of items, the food was okay, nothing special, I wouldn't go there for a special occasion though. Cheap and cheerful.

No staff, waited 20 mins at entrance to be told because we hadn't booked we would have to wait longer! Restaurant half empty, plenty of tables. Absolutely disgraceful lack of service. Gave up and went over the road to Morrisons.

Food was what you would expect from a beefeater restaurant and our waitress was lovely unfortunately the manager appeared stressed and was unhappy about us turning up without a reservation even though the restaurant was not overly packed at any time during our meal. He appeared visibly stressed and frustrated whenever new customers came in asking for a seatdurimg out time there, this is not exactly a good atmosphere to enjoy your meal in

Waited over 20mins to get order taken then a further 45 mins for our main course and 20 mins for desert where I had to chase the manager within a minute we had it.. poor service 😢 not many in restaurant either so we're not rushed of there feet

Second days in a row in a ,,meal deal" came to eat arround 18:30 its already 19:30 not seen my meal so far. Yesterday similar situation took almost 2h to get a main dine plus dessert strongly unrecommended

6 of us went on Christmas Eve for lunch, everyone’s meal was perfect. Lots of food and well cooked all at reasonable prices. We were very happy with our visit and will go back.

We had been shopping locally, having finished, we needed something to eat. We hadn't used a Beefeater in years, so we thought we would give it a go. Quickly shown to our seat, drink order taken & arrived promptly. All the waitress was friendly & helpful. On ordering our main meal, the waitress suggested I have my ribeye steak, medium rare rather than rare, so that tye fat was rendered down more. Great advice. With had sticky toffee pudding, in her opinion not the best. I enjoyed my apple pie. Overall, a good & enjoyable meal. Would we return, yes.

Very friendly and welcoming. We had a slight problem with our table, which was sorted immediately and without fuss. The food was good. An enjoyable visit. Definitely recommend a visit.

Lovely meal and staff member was very friendly, chatty and attentive. I don't know her name but she's a West Ham fan. I couldn't downgrade the review,even though West Ham beat my local team Nottingham Forest recently, haha.

Why on earth a restaurant that size has only one coffee machine is beyond me. I had got my cooked breakfast and then went to get the coffee to go with it but had to stand in a queue for 15mins and therefore my cooked breakfast and toast were cold. Had I done it the other way about the coffee would've been cold. The noise was awful, there was nothing to absorb the noise.

Went there tonight - with the little one. it took 1 hour from ordering food to getting it - food was barely warm. We left alot of it and waited for the staff to come and take the plates away and give the little one her ice cream that came with her meal. 20 mins nothing... i asked twice. Finally we decided just to get the bill. They brought the bill and never came back so i ended up having to go to the bar to pay. I was then told to go to the other side of the bar. Other customers seem to ask for the manager so sounds like we weren't the only ones. Wont be using again, they need more staff and a manager who can mange

Appalling service! Food cold, clearly understaffed! Tried to pay 3 times and staff kept just walking off! Daughter ended up with no pudding!

My wife and I Had a roast turkey dinner here. We came back as the meal we had a few months ago was pretty decent for a chain food restaurant. Well that has changed dramatically. £37 for 2 dinners and 2 cokes. The roast potatoes were rock hard and dry, the Yorkshire pudding was flat and hard, the stuffing balls were like fishing weights, the turkey was dry but ok. Carrots and peas were fine. Sorry won’t be back.

I haven't been here for a few months but nothing has changed, Leanne yet again was fantastic, the food was 5 star. Great job Team Darlington 👍

Visited Monday tea-time. Place was very busy mainly, it seemed, with workmen. We hadn't booked but they found us a table. However, it became so noisy that we left without ordering anything. If, like us, you are a family looking for a relaxed evening meal then maybe avoid Beefeater on a Monday evening.

Excellent service as always. Jack served us tonight and nothing was a bother for him at all. Really polite and respectable towards our party. Dan (who has also served us in previous visits) also came over to see how we were doing since our last visit and went out of the way to do it. Cracking evening and the food was delicious, and arrived in good time for a party of 6. 😊

Stopped for lunch while car shopping in the area. Food was of a good quality and well priced. Service was a little bit off with some confusion over drinks and issues behind the bar.

Went on Saturday with the family and some friends 4 adults 3 children. Starters of chicken wings, calamari and chicken gougons were all lovely. Mains we had sirloin steak which in my opinion was not a sirloin it was poor quality grissly and awful. I say it wasn't a sirloin as it didn't appear to look anything like one. We ordered 2 fillet steaks approx £21 each and these 2 were poor quality, again grissly and poorly cooked. All the steaks were cooked medium medium rare and all were tough as leather. A child's portion of sausage and mash was had too and that was average the sausages could of been better. They were more chipolatas. Also the main food took forever to come out my partner had to ask the staff at the bar where the food was as it wasn't particularly busy and we had children. Puddings of a sundae and chocolate brownie were both delicious.
