Morrisons Cafe in Derby

Mid Sunday morning, quite busy but not overbearing. Two regular breakfasts took about 20 minutes. Quality fried bread. Half sized sausages. The rubbery egg whites and fatty bacon weren't a treat. The only bonus was that the eggs were the only hot item of the breakfast. Would have been good value for money had it all been hot. If the service was quicker we would have asked for hotter food in replacement.

Cheap and cheerful, food ok, does go cold quick sometimes. Adequate amount for cost. Has high chairs. Staff really friendly and very helpful. Tables can get bit messy at busy times.

Popped in for a bit of lunch and to get a take out for an elderly family member as it was a busy day for us. New menus were a surprise as it isn't that long since they changed them. A plus is that hot drinks are now refillable we like that. Also new options have been added a plus for me as I like toasties and they have been gone a while. Also offers such as a toastie, a cake from the chiller and a hot drink for 6pnds is great value and the toastie was delicious. Now for the bad part, the new menu has a 6.75 fixed price for an 8 piece build your own breakfast - that is a bargain as most items individually are 1.25p and toast is 75p. For months our elderly mum who has a small appetite has had toast an egg and a sausage to make a sandwich with the individually priced items from the list. All the items are still listed separately as it says you can add them to the 8 pcs of breakfast ( who is doing that ). Nowhere does it state you cannot order these items separately now. We ordered our normal stuff and the price for the toast egg and sausage was 6.75, no one said it was a fixed price and were we sure they just charged it - oh they also pressed for it to go through so we were not able to get the 1500 points on our more card either. We have had this issue before but it was when the points for cafe meals started so forgivable, however its a big promotion and the only way we really earn points so it was disgusting to be told sorry we have put it through you cant have your points. We then had to push to get the order changed to order toast with 2 eggs and add a sausage and get a refund of the ridiculous set price build your own breakfast. We didn't bother with making it a takeout order we just built the sandwich bagged it ourselves and left. If the items can be added as individual items then they can be sold as they used to be as individual items?? Morrisons don't care, we told them their menu is confusing and that they don't wait for the more card to be presented but its tough luck. So be aware if you go and get your card in quick, before you order would be my suggestion and then remember build your own breakfast starts at 6.75 even for 3 items. We will go back to ordering a childs meal for my mum and wait for them to tell her she can't have it as shes not a child !! Then do small meals for people with small appetites or let them build their own as it works well but mostly Do Better, Do a lot Better

Absolutely discusting meal. Chips stone cold and overcooked. I complained the assistant bought me a replacement but peas were in one lump and cold. Tea from machine cold and weak. £15 Absolutely wasted. Never go there again.

Not impressed at all, Luke warm food and not value for the money any more. Some menu items not available ! Used to ok pre Covid but gone downhill now.

Terrible start,prebook meal,long queue and one not working.Resorted to a sandwich.Tables dirty,filled with food trays,staff ? What a let down Morrisons,will not come again.

This is the worst cafe for service out of all morrisons cafe's I've visited over the years, you have to wait ages for someone to serve you the staff are either taking food to people or chatting to other staff members. Most of the tables have dirty plates on them and on busy days there isn't anywhere to sit because of this. The coffee machines are not working the one has been out of order for over 2 months now, the other one hasn't been working for about a week now. It's just not good enough. Very disappointing

Bacon, egg and mushroom was served cold! My daughter found a black hair on her breakfast! I have light brown hair, she has faded purple hair. Only good thing was the friendly service and the sausages. Won't be going again.

I feel the McDonalds automation service is not an efficiency exercise, but simply a couple taking away as much human service and interaction away and increase profits, which I feel is wrong, the human service we received was excellent. The food was average, and very overpriced small portions, i felt i have a child`s portion!!! I would not to visit again, as good (if limited) service was the only positive thing!

Haven’t been to Morrisons cafe for brunch for a couple years. We were surprised to see they had changed to self service kiosks instead of the usual tills. We ordered and went to find a table, however we were disgusted to find that more than half of the tables had dirty plates and trays where it had not been taken away. We had to clear a table for ourselves (really was a fully self service cafe, having to clean your own table) and there was food all over the floor, the tables were sticky and there was also not enough cutlery for only 3 people. After the extremely long wait for food, it was brought to us cold, it looked and tasted as if it had been sat there since early morning. I’ve had many pleasant experiences here a few years back and now the new system clearly isn’t working well. Wont be going back there, that’s for sure.

Oh, where do I even begin with Morrison's cafe in Derby? I had the pleasure of experiencing their so-called "service". Crumbs everywhere, sticky spots galore, and not a clean surface in sight. Apparently, they've adopted a new self-service policy - "Welcome to Morrison's Cafe: Where You're the cleaner! After unsuccessfully attempting to flag down one of the staff members who were either on a covert mission or in a witness protection program, I finally gave up and decided to clean my own table. Who knew I was signing up for a DIY cafe experience? Where's my apron and mop, by the way? Once I managed to attract the attention of a staff member (it felt like a personal achievement, really), I kindly asked for some ketchup to accompany my meal. Lo and behold, they must have thought I was speaking in some obscure foreign language! Either that, or they were ketchup-hoarding enthusiasts, unwilling to part with their precious condiments. I guess they believe ketchup is a luxury at Morrison's, reserved only for the elite few! Now, let's talk about the "chef's special" - the toastie. Oh, what an artistic masterpiece it was! It seemed like they left it in the toaster for one minute too many, transforming it into a charcoal canvas rather than a delicious, crispy delight. As if the burnt offering wasn't enough, they managed to serve my friend the wrong breakfast

Morrisons hang your head in Shame, called in after a two hour drive for some breakfast and I only have two words to say about this food PURE FILTH !!

Very disappointed. Ordered at the self serve and pay screen with no problem. Went over to get the hot drinks where the station was quite a mess with half filled cups and filled teapots abandoned. No brown sugar for coffee and milk cartons for tea strewn about. Went and sat at the table and the order arrived within minutes. Obviously not cooked to order given the time from ordering to arriving. #1 ordered poached eggs on toast which were more like hard bolied eggs in shape and texture. Not freshly cooked given how solid the yolk was. #2 ordered a large breakfast with fried bread. Great if you like fried crusts! Scrambled egg almost bounced off the plate as it was that rubbery. Apparently the mushrooms left a nasty taste and the black pudding was cold. On the plus side, the baked beans were piping hot and the fresh tomato adequately cooked. Not bad sausages but couldn't take away the fact that the bacon was dry and rubbery. Sauces are only provided by the server if you ask, but there was no English mustard. Quite frankly a very disappointed visit which cost nearly £14. Will we return for breakfast, I don't think so.

Called in today after visiting the nearby garden centre. We both had fish and chips. Perfectly cooked, thick white flesh and crisp batter. Enjoyed every mouthful!

Arrived for a quick coffee before shopping - huge cafe, around 90% of tables with dirty plates and cups on. No cups for coffee machine and no sign of staff to assist. Just gave the impression of a supermarket facility that could/should be great, but very much isn’t. Clearly understaffed by no sign of management attention or support.

Usually go for breakfast before doing my shopping. The breakfasts used to be pretty good but now they're awful even the toast is soggy and over saturated in butter to the point eating it makes you feel sick .Will be giving the cafe a miss in future

Visited here yesterday 31st May 2022 with wife and grandson for lunch for 1st time. It was busy but managed to get a table which i had to clear. There was many tab le with no one at them and full of used plates etc. Had to order using a machine which i dont like but managed ok. Got to the coffee machines and a queue as only 1 machine working. No teaspoons or sweeteners available. There was a wait for the food to be delivered which was expected as it was busy . Eventually the food arrived. Me and the wife had a breakfast. Mine was awful, bacon very fatty and undercooked, mushroom swimming in grease and all of it was just warm which was horrible. Shall not visit again thats for certain.

Absolutely disgrace the Staff treat / talk to customers On placing order , went to get cutlery / condiments VIRTUALLY EMPTY...... went back to till ... was snapped at I'LL SORT IT OUT LATER Food eventually arrived....30 minutes after ordering Found a HAIR 8 inches long under my fried egg..... Visited here for lunch as we regularly dine out at lunchtime but this is the worst place we’ve been. The food is average, we had soup which was lukewarm and took 25 minutes to arrive. The food however is not the issue, the whole cafe is disgusting. I have never seen a cafe so dirty in my life. There was not one single table that was clean. The floor was covered in food. We asked the waitress to clear the table and she just took away the dirty plates and didn’t even bother to wipe the table. I had to go into the store to buy antibacterial wipes because I couldn’t sit and eat on such a filthy table. During our 45 minutes there not one table was cleared and wiped down even though there was no one waiting to be served. You would have thought that due to coronavirus they are extra clean but clearly not.

Breakfast - we arrived and the place was less than half full - but many tables waiting for food plus people waiting for take away. Ordered via the machine at 10:45 - the food arrived at 11:10 - 25 minutes wait ! We have eaten here before and had hearty breakfast but today the offering was small. The regular breakfast looked like a small and the small breakfast was like a Childs meal. The plates were cold the food just warm - not hot. The baked beans were BBQ flavour which we didn't expect - not to our taste. We won't be going again.

Visited today breakfast on offer ,we ordered at 11.19according to our receipt food finally arrived at 11.59 omg downhill i have issues with hot food cold plates no no no ,the food was cold rubbery mushroom egg poached but discoverd they arrive on site ready...

Visted this Morrison while staying in Derby for a couple of days. The Cafe is good value for money. Choose where you want to sit and note the table number. Order by machine. It can be tricky so make sure you read your order over...

Bought 2 breakfasts via the machine on 22/05/21 both were £5.50 but my wifes was minus the sausages and mushrooms which she doesn,t like but it didn't make the price difference still charged full price and mine was minus the fried bread and 1 hashbrown...

We arrived to find all the tables were either taken or overloaded with trays of food, dirty plates and mugs! The table we were able to sit at, having cleared away the encrusted plates myself, was filthy and had to wipe with my own wet...

Shopping followed by light lunch. Big fan of Morrisons fish and chips. Little late so ran out of mushy peas. Had baked beans no problem very enjoyable. Staff very friendly and helpful will go again.

Lunch time - fish, chip and mushy peas. Quick service, staff friendly, hot food. However the chips look like they may have been re-fried/warmed up. The fish was an odd shape, a triangle. Frozen or a large piece cut in half maybe. Okay only just over £6 with a cold drink, but could have done a little better with what they served.

Stopped for breakfast as we had just shopped. Service was relatively quick and both breakfasts were hot, substantial and well presented. one minot glich was the toast being under toasted. Overall a pleasant meal.

We visited for our tea tonight and wondered why it was so quiet ,we soon found out why when our meals arrived. I had ordered jacket potato cheese and coleslaw and got jacket potato cheese and beans. The cheese was none existent and the jacket potato was microwaved. My husband ordered Steak Pie and chips and said the chips were very greasy. We haven’t eaten at the cafe since it has had been refitted and won’t be doing again.

My partner had the lasagna and garlic bread and I had the salmon. We were both very pleased with how lovely it was. The portion sizes are good and it’s great value for money! Clean cafe and friendly staff too.

A friend and I visited mid-morning. We had bacon cobs and tea. Reasonable prices. Good service. As the saying goes "does what it says on the tin". No complaints from us at all.

Floor dirty, overwhelmed with dirty tables, under staffed, cake was dry. Served wrong people food then was going to take the plates off them to give to the right customers. Ewwwwwww!!!!!!

Staff were happy & helpful. Food was cheap, £12 for three meals and three drinks. Fish was fresh and hot, but everything else was barely warm. Cups and cutlery had obviously been through the dishwasher, but looked and felt dirty. Not sure I'd eat here again.

As you enter the café there is a publicity shot of their 'Award Winning Steak Pie' showing it cut in half and packed with large chunks of succulent meat and gravy. The reality was somewhat different. Superficially the same but it contained about six small pieces of meat I found impossible to chew and a brown slurry like gloop. I can eat most things but this was disgusting and the whole meal was tepid. It was almost impossible to find a clean tea mug as 95% of them were stained and filthy. On the plus side the staff were charming and efficient.

What a surprising place this is. We wanted something cheap and cheerful that gave us value for money. We had salad and fish, fish and chips and a chicken burger for the child in our family. All were tasty and fresh.

Decided not to share chips so had a portion of Onion Rings. Pot of tea shared hot fresh rings. Just the job. Staff all friendly and cheerful, will go again.

Es lo que es, una cafetería supermercado, sin embargo, la comida es siempre una excelente relación calidad-precio. Los desayunos son geniales y usualmente hay un fantástico almuerzo especial valor. Probablemente tengas que hacer cola para pedir y pagar, pero eso es porque es tan popular. Tienes que conseguir su propio cuchillo y tenedor y condimentos, pero eso es un pequeño precio a pagar. Bien merece una visita.

Food was very quick , good range of drinks / snacks at a fair price. Food was out almost instantly to a adequate standard

Refurbished not sure when but decor much improved. Ordered cup of tea but they don't do cups and saucers! All mugs dirty so was offered a takeaway cup. Why kit out your cafe with tea pot quirky displays and serve tea in a mug! Not acceptable. Rubbish all over the floor in the area where you have to help yourself to hot drinks. Five staff stood chatting behind the counter, perhaps time would be better spent operating the dishwasher!

Good for quick snack or big meal, the kids eat free with every adult meal which is good . The staff are great. The food is always good and hot, well fresh. And you can then get your shopping, its a win win place to be.

Staff always very friendly and helpful with a decent menu at sensible prices. The cod has always been a favourite and better than most chippies.

Called into morrisons to pick up a few bits and decided to have lunch in the cafe. Good choice of food and very reasonable priced. Quick friendly service. Only downside is there was a lot of tables of dirty pots and the trolleys was full of pots they clearly need someone to empty and clean tables.

Having had a busy morning, with the shopping still to do, we were glad of a handy cup of tea. We had forgotten how good the food was at Morrisons. Past the advertising board - which has no meal details or menu on it - to the back of the queue, the menu and price list only becomes visible once you are past the tables and at the first fridges. Any deliberation or careful choosing now becomes a nuisance to others behind you, and indeed was a nuisance to you while you were queuing behind others making their choices. This could so easily be improved upon. Sandwiches are still available, with a few tarts and scones to follow, as found in the first fridge. The second range is difficult to see due to the queue obscuring it, but a good combo of sandwich/scone becomes available, alongside a fuller range of 'puds'. Difficult if you already have food on your tray from the first fridge. Never mind. Meals are ordered next but there is no opportunity to move onto hot drinks if you are not ordering hot food. Again, more unnecessary waiting. But, decaffeinated tea is available and the hot water/other hot drinks machine is easy to use. Swift action by assistants helps at the till fortunately. Our food was ok but the sandwiches - ham in one, prawns in the other, could have been fresher. Tray collection facilities are available, which people are using and pleasingly, assistants are moving around swiftly to wash and wipe down used tables ready for the next customer - this can often be overlooked, so thank you for doing that. Access for all is easy and disabled only tables have been imprinted with appropriate symbols. This is very clearly a popular eatery and we were delighted to see how many senior citizens were eating a hearty meal here, which are available at such reasonable prices. Well done for providing that too. I would go again as this supermarket does have good parking and the cafe does provide a good cup of tea plus a small treat to go with it, which suits us well. (Tea/coffee to go is available.)

Attended here with my 8 year old daughter, she ordered sausage cob as did I. I was on crutches so was a little slow but they were very patient. Struggled a little to find a seat but ended up sitting round the corner part which is nicer anyway. Comfy seating. My daughters hot chocolate was perfect for her and she is usually fussy. Food actually arrived whilst we were making our way to our table! some tables could have been cleared a bit quicker but I am guessing that is because they are a little short staffed. overall, we would both recommend visiting here for a snack or a quick coffee. nice and clean.

The refurbished café is Ok but they still need to address table cleaning issues. Because they ask customers to replace their dirty trays in the rack, if possible, this means the cleared table is not wiped as people leave. Also, some customers order food and just carry a drink to their table - therefore, when they have finished they don't have a tray in order to clear the table. The result is unwiped or cluttered dirty tables, which is most off-putting when you want to sit down. Staff are busy but need someone solely for cleaning and clearing food left by messy customers. Prices are good for the menu they serve. Just needs hygiene addressing.

Called in and was impressed with everything - the choice, service and price! Scampi delicious and need to try the hunters chicken stack!

Cafe has been refurbished since my last visit and it is a great improvement with a comfortable seating area. Service was quick and drink was okay, but bacon cob needed some attention, too much butter which was not spread evenly and bacon that did not have any taste.

Went for breakfast with my hubby, they were so slow I left him there while I picked up a few bits of shopping.He said the tables and floor was filthy. There were no coffee mugs offerec a dirty one or a takeway cup took the later. Never again need enviromental health

Good choice on menu but some days a bit slapdash.Over cooked fried eggs with no yolk ( a pet hate of mine) Food barely warm on certain occasions but it cheap and handy.

My friend and I like to call in here for a light snack after visiting the other shops in the area. We only ever have Beans on Toast and a pot of tea. The restaurant is lovely a fresh and clean looking, the staff are very friendly and helpful, our meal was served very quickly and hot. The meals I saw coming out were well presented and of good sizes. The prises are not OTT. I recommend this café.

Worst experience of my life. Still waiting for a bacon sandwich and a breakfast half an hour after eating. People now getting food that came in after us. Wouldn't even say it was cheap - overcharged by 30p for my standard coffee. Avoid!

"Morrison's big breakfast" although quite edible is not what it was a while back. On this last visit there seemed to be microwaved bacon rather than grilled and one sausage less !!!!!. Still not bad for a meal whilst out shopping though.

You can't go wrong with Morrisons cafe. The staff are always polite and friendly. Ive never had a problem with the food and it's cheap and cheerful. The after school offer is fantastic. 2 main meals, drinks and fruit for a fiver. You can't get any better than that anywhere, not even home.The fish is great. They also give the option of steamed fish if you don't like it battered. Only problem is the tables need clearing and cleaning more.

Always serving up a lovely breakfast at a reasonable price. The restaurant has recently been refurbished and the old style fixed tables have been replaced with modern tables and chairs so an improvement all round

Always enjoy the food here. The cafe has recently been done up and the table and chair arrangement is much much better. We had a fry up and eggs Benedict both with extra toast and a drink each which came to £11.80 which I think is reasonable. Will come again.

All you expect from a supermarket cafe. Clean, functional, sensible prices. Friendly and helpful staff.

Breakfast is really lovely as is all the food , wheelchair friendly , very pleasant staff , always worth a visit , not too expensive.

Long overdue this cafe has been given a major major re-fit with six new lines added to the existing menu which more than caters for its existing customers although new ones will be trying it out as Morrisons are currently giving coupons for a FREE drink when purchasing in-store, which has also had a re-vamp.Suffice to say the cafe is clean,clinical to a point and bright whilst having tried most of the menu i would report that breakfast is still the best value for money but if you want an early start you will need to visit McDonalds next door as morrisons do not open until 8a.m.

Tried out the 'new look' café but were not impressed. Can't see the heavy looking moveable tables and chairs in pastel colours staying nice for long with their clientele. Self-service machines for hot drinks now moved and when trying to fill teapot were confronted with pile of chocolate powder spilled by previous coffee customers. Tables still left unwiped for too long and staff needed to be more aware of this and keeping messy drinks area clean. Also we much prefer milk in cartons to milk jug which is handled by all and sundry. Food always good for price but prefer cleaner simple lines for this type of café with kids running around.

Lunch here was very nice and excellent service. Very polite and seemed happy in there work. We had the small breakfast which was ample to keep us going for a couple of hours. Was not greasy and well presented.

The food here is very good. It seems to be the stuff they sell instore.Service is quick, even when really busy. Tables are kept clean and staff are pleasant and helpful.Good value for money and the standard is usually the same in all Morrisons Cafes - at least the ones I've been in.Quality and value with good service.

Quick after work and school meal. Lovely ladies serving quickly and with a smile on their faces. Love the atmosphere :)

Good valve for money. Chocolate milkshake very thick plenty of other drinks available. Always clean staff pleasant

Morrisons offer a great value meal when your out doing the weekly shop, i had Gammon Egg Chips and Peas at £3 can you believe it...ok it's not a massive portion,but it was hot and enjoyable for the money..where else can you get two meals and two drinks and change from a tenner lol

My husband and I tend to pop in every so often just before he starts his shift at work. Service is good and the food is always lovely.We did pop in today, and had to wait 20 minutes for our food (even though people who ordered after us got their food quicker than us!) but this still wouldn't put me off from visiting again in future

Really cheap food with cheap quality. you literally get what you pay for. Service is always pretty fast and really friendly tho. Kids eat free in the week after school too

Stopped off for a breakfast with friends. Fast, efficient service and good quality food. Hot drinks were self serve, very tasty and good quality.

As a family we have lunch in morrisions every Saturday for the past 10 years or more !! If has cabbages for the better in recent years.The food is always of very good standard and even when the cafe is rammed and all seats we take we have never waited long for our food.It does not compare to other morrisions cafes we have been in up and down the county where the food is not very good. Totally spoilt here

I was on my way to the centre of Derby and just wanted a quick meal to keep me going for a few hours so called in here. The service was good, the food was good and it is great value for money. Just what I wanted.

Usually l can go and have a lovely hot meal. Well yesterday we paid £20 and had garlic mushrooms that were shrivelled/crunchy in fat too hot. My daughter had a dried up big breakfast. I had chicken (so dry couldn't cut it) with a cheese slice on top with a shrivelled piece of bacon on top with cold chips.Strange starter and main served together! It felt like here 'cop this'Perhaps they were having a bad day but not a good experience.

this is a great way to have a meal on the go, place to park your trolly. good choice of cold and hot meals. good value aswell
