¡Volveremos!

Unacceptable rip off and to top it off RUDE bar STAFF. Price for an average bottle of prosecco £35.00 Would of maybe understood around £28.00 the most. This place rip off the people who they eventually get in to hire it... Not sure who the bar staff think they are but they were definatley not professional.

As a charity "Big Soul Night Out" party here Friday evening. The whole event was run fabulously and the night was great. The entertainment was Ray Lewis and he was brilliant as usual. The support was Jennifer Phillips and she too was great! The venue laid on VIP waitress service so all we had to do was simply enjoy ourselves. Great evening! Really great venue and hope the charity did well!

On the positive side this place is a great place for a party, it's huge!! They board off an area if your party is a small one. It has an amazing fish tank which is a great feature and the decor is nice, ample parking. On the negative side the place was freezing cold and the bar staff were very miserable, I wasn't the only person to notice this.

I went to Mooros to watch the big fight early hours of the morning (3:30). I know Mooros have a terrible reputation due to the fights, guns and stabbings but I never expected what happened that evening. My partner and I couldn't even enter the bar, due to 10 fights kicking off which we had over heard. One was being dealt with outside but it looked like the doorman knew the guys and was happy to let them back in. I can say about a minute after this a young woman came running round the back saying that it's kicked off again in the club and all of the 3 doorman looked at her then two ran in to sort it. The guys were quickly taken away and another guy had a bad leg where he said he was pushed into the fight. The doorman was too busy gossiping with random people about apparently being a stabbing ! Which of course is his men's fault as somebody was obviously let in with a knife. I know allot about security due to work in the past and I've never seen anything as bad as this. My partner and I weren't even told what was going on until the careless man turned around after we kept asking and just said "go home there's no point" my partner is sorting out our refund. I just can't believe how terribly run the place is

10 of us went for a xmas party night it was advertised as an all inclusive price of £55 which included a buffet but by the time the DJ announced buffet at 10 o'clock we queued to find no food!! There was only 1 chef and buffet choice was on fish and chips or turkey bap followed by mince pies hardly a buffet!!! The staff are very unfriendly/unhelpful even suggesting to us some of the guests had been greedy and that was why there was no food! Funnily enough Lisa whom you book with or pay at the door on entry had gone home when the food issue occurred! Also the venue was FREEZING with no heating and a lot of party guests wearing coats for most of the evening I even had picture taken of me in my coat on dance floor!

Attended a wedding at Mooro's in the evening and next door at Woolston Manor Golf Club in the day. The arrangements for the day were organised by Mooro's staff and the attention to detail was excellent. The meal was superb by any standards let alone when serving 150 people and the room was beautifully decorated. The manager of Mooro's (Lisa) was hands on all day to make sure everything went well, as was the owner (Davey). The staff worked extremely hard to attend to everybody's needs. The evening reception was held in Mooro's for 350 and the atmosphere was terrific. The I house DJ kept the dance floor full all night and the bar staff and kitchen staff kept the food and drink flowing. All in all a memorable day and I would highly recommend this venue (s) for private functions.

Okay, I have been looking through these reviews and felt I had to give my honest opinion of Mooros as it seems to be getting a lot of bad press here. I have been there a few times now and indeed am going back there soon for my husbands birthday so it really cant be that bad!Firstly the decor is fabulous, anyone who remembers the Epping Forest Country club will feel quite nostalgic when they enter just like I did, with the low ceilings and dimmed lighting I can still picture the club as it was back in the day! Anyway it has been completely re furbed like a kind of up market american diner, whenever I have been there it has been spotless throughout including the toilets. The football memorabilia on the wall is great for anyone who is into sports and the pictures of West Hams Bobby Moore is a nice touch. They have a huge tropical fish tank that glows pink and blue that look fantastic and is a really striking feature. I had my hen night there for a seventies car wash night. There was about 20 of us, we all dressed up and got into the swing of things. The food was fine, buffet style and more than enough for everyone and a good selection. Drinks slightly expensive I thought, more like nightclub prices but the staff were all friendly enough. The DJ was really good and I liked the way they have made the area in front of the decks into a kind of dance floor. The only thing it was lacking was people!! There was another group of around 15 people and us and that was about it. It ended up fine as I was there with all my friends and we all had a good dance as the DJ was playing everything we requested. I cant understand why this place doesn't attract more people. Its a really funky little venue. The food is good and the staff are nice and very accommodating. Maybe its down to their advertising I just don't know. On another 2 occasions we have gone there for Sunday lunch which was really good except again for being empty.I think everyone should give Mooros another chance, maybe they should invest a bit more money into their advertising to attract more crowds, like I said the place does have so much potential. Im going to give Mooros 4 stars as it could easily be very good and is certainly better than average. Maybe a 3.5 star would be more apt but I don't think I am allowed to do that!!I am going up there again in April for my husbands birthday with some friends, its a cockney special night so I am expecting pie n mash and jellied eels all round!! I'm not expecting it to be packed out but would like to see a few more people up there this time. Fingers crossed!!I will be back in April to let you know :)

I visited Mooro’s with a group of girls from work for our Christmas party.I was initially impressed when we were greeted on arrival and shown to our table. It went downhill after that. Our table was a booth with a circular table and then a long table pushed together to accommodate our group. Not a positive sign and not too comfortable for those sitting where the circular and long tables joined. The food was due to be served at 7.45pm and was eventually served at 8.20pm. In total it was 2 hours to eat the meal as we were waiting for each course to be served. It was far too long between each course. Saying that, the food was surprisingly good and portions were OK. There was a major issue with ordering drinks. The bar staff just didn’t seem to know what they were doing. Also, the waitress delivered an opened half bottle of water which we had to send back. The coke we ordered wasn’t actually coke, it was a cheap imitation and that also went back.We paid £40 each for a Michael Buble tribute night and 3 course meal. I should point out that even a deaf person would have noticed that he did not sound like Michael Buble by all the mouths that fell open when he started to sing. He didn’t sound bad, but he didn’t sound like Buble; he did look like Del Boy though. The tribute act started about 8pm and went on until about 9.30pm and then the DJ took over. But this was a big disappointment as the dance floor was up the opposite end of the venue. We had no issues with empty booths as some of the other reviewers. Every booth was taken and the venue was packed. The TV screens that play music videos are slightly too loud so you cannot hold a decent conversation. I was disgusted at the toilets. Not one of them locked and the loo roll was left on the floor. I asked a stranger to hold my door shut and then returned the favour for her.It such as shame as the venue is lovely inside and has a large capacity. So much more could be done here.

We went a big group of us on a saturday night, we had booked in advance so they were expecting us. The place was empty apart from us when we arrived and throughout the night only 2 other tables of about 4 people. They took ages to take our orders and we then went on to wait TWO HOURS for our food to come out!! When it did they didn't all come together and some of us had finished eating before my friend even got her burger and one meal didn't arrive at all. Some others ordered steak which was finished before they recieved their mushrooms and tomatos that went with it! We were constantly reminding them that two meals were still missing which they only cooked my friends burger after having been told quite a few times. We then complained to the manager and she was very rude and gave us quite a few ridiculous reasons which were as follows: 1 - they booked in the chef for an allotted time for us so when they took our order late he was dealing with another table (as mentioned before only two other tables in that night), 2 - when our food was brought out we all forgot what we had ordered and had sent food back! 3 - someone had eaten two meals 4 - the waitresses were new and had got confused. She then went on to argue with my friend for half an hour by taking her aside from the group. It was my friends birthday and this manager ruined her birthday meal out with family and friends. Only after an arguement did we recieve 30% off the bill! We had a few small children with us and they were so hungry as they still hadn't eaten by 9pm!

The staff were freindy and welcoming and immediatly set my mind at peace as i though i wouldnt be able to get another booking. my children are quite fussy eaters and menu didnt really suit them but i spoke to the staff and they offered us alternatives without hesitation. our starters were amazing and the roast dinner was second to none.there was a younge singer singing throgh out our meal and this really added something to our visit.i would strongly reconmend this restauarant and will definatly be returning again soon.

Not sure what we were expecting really but this to us was a cross between a Wetherspoons and a TGI Friday's. You sit in booths (like a diner) and TV screens play music videos. What a waste of an afternoon. Everything about this place is poor!! HAving experienced a bad night a few weeks back i thought it was worth giving them a 2nd chance especially as the manager Amanda convinced me that the first time was a 1 off!!Well, it wasnt. Key problems with the restaurant;Staff - Untrained and unknowledgable!! How hard is it to find out some information about the food on their menu, for example; Garlic bread with cheese comes with cheese, Fruit in a bowl is actually Fruit Crumble, if i am a veggie then i dont want to have chilli con carne with my starter, we do not take American Express.Excuses - everytime you ask them why something isnt right they have a great list of excuses, for example, the last time i went there the manager explained the reason for the poor service was because 2 of her 'top' waitresses were in a car accident, this time the 'chef (i use this word loosely) had broken his wrist. Sometimes if you dont know just hold your hands up!Food - Under cooked chips (fairly basic thing to make), no cheese on the garlic bread with cheese, never having the right ingredients (no custard for the crumble and custard, no guacamole or sour cream for the nachos)The choice of the menu is poor, minimal dishes should mean that each dish is of a high standard, this isnt the case!!What a waste of good sporting memrabilia (ill happily take them when they close down) and the fish!SHOCKING

Went with my wife and two friends to the Michael buble tribute night at Mooro's on Friday 20th April. The venue is very well presented and we were greeted on arrival and shown to our table. There was a good atmosphere although it was not full. We had a great evening and whilst the tribute act did not sound exactly like Mr Buble, he did sing many of his hits and overall did a good job. Then again with a tribute act, DJ and a 2 course meal all for £25, you can't really go wrong or expect much more...well done Mooro's and Lisa and the team. The food was surprisingly very good given the price for the whole event although it would be nice if there could be a few more choices! once the tribute act had finished the DJ got to work but this was the only disaoppointment as whilst the music was playing and there is a decent size dancefloor, this was all up the opposite end from the tables and booths and it lost a little atmosphere. i am sure that these small issues will get ironed out and we will certainly be back to try another tribute act and Sunday lunch which sounds good! All told a job well done.

Me and my family visited Mooro’s on Sunday 15th April 2012 to celebrate my son’s 30th birthday – We had never been there before and I was very unsure about going, but I need not have worried – On contacting the restaurant and speaking / e-mailing the Events Manager (Jane) all my fears were but to bed and we could not have asked for a better experience. They offer very reasonable priced table decorations such as balloons, cake etc and were also very accommodating with allowing me to visit the night before to deliver the birthday cake as it was a surprise for my son.The atmosphere was relaxing and surroundings inside is like being in a posh American style dinner. The Menu offers enough choices for everyone, including vegetarians. However, if you are on a diet like I was and went for a caser salad and ended up eating succulent ribs and chicken wings off everyone else’s plate, it’s defiantly worth being naughty for and I paid for it since at the gym.The service was A* our waitresses were very attentive and great with my very demanding 8 year old son.The food was remarkable (Out of this World) a defiant 5* - My demanding 8 year old was finishing everyone’s dessert plates (Chocolate Brownie and Rum and Raisin Ice Cream are to die for) my 82 year old mother (Loved the Piri Piri Chicken – Better than Nando’s) who is overly fussy about her food never complained and has already told me that’s she want her birthday meal there, my daughter who loves to dance and eats barley nothing told me this evening that we should eat there every Sunday (LOVED the Ribs) and when the birthday boy did not stop from thanking me, I know the girl done GOOD in choosing Mooro’s.The attention to detail from arrival (greeted by Jane – Thank You), the level of service, the standard, portion size and presentation of the food (A Big THANK YOU to the New Chef) to leaving – 100% value for money, especially if you have a Tastecard, you will not be disappointed and I challenge you all to prove me wrong..I think everyone at work is sick and tired of me ranting and raving about our meal, but a colleague is going for her anniversary next week and I and the girls are doing a night out next month.I know what it’s like when you are not sure about a new restaurant, especially if it is for a special occasion, but I have no regrets and if you don’t try new things you will never know. I hope that you have the experience that we all had and HAPPY EATING!!!To All at Mooro’s – KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

Thanks Mooros for the worst Mothers Day ever! There was no one to greet us on arrival and when we finally did get seated, we were left for 15 minutes without the offer of a drink and minus the children's menus. (I should add that at the time of booking I asked whether the general children's menu would be available and was told it would be. ) This wasn't the case! Drinks were requested- my husbands pint of beer was brought over as a bottle as they had run out of draught! They forgot mine, the Mother of the party!! Starters- My husband had prawn cocktail to start with which was a few frozen prawns on wilted iceberg lettuce and I had pâté with the smallest 2 (and stalest) pieces of toast that I ever seen and am sure Weightwatchers would have difficulty in giving it a points value. Then we all had a roast dinner which consisted of very undercooked veg, burnt potatoes and the children's portion was too big-the same size as the adults. Our waitress came to us before serving the mains and said that Yorkshire puddings had been put in the oven and meals were delayed by about 7 minutes. Either that or we could have our meals without them!! God knows what happened for dessert as the waitress literally brought a wooden tray over to us with everything on it and she just walked away! My husband pre ordered the steamed pudding which wasn't brought to us and we later found out they had run out and no one had told us. So at this stage we asked for the bill, paid and left. And I gave my gift of a box of chocolates back!! And for those future diners who may be happy with the restaurant and wish to tip, please think again and ask your waitress who gets the tips as you may be surprised!!

Such a disappointment. Went for the 1pm sitting, very busy, everyone waiting to be seated and served all at the same time. No lemonade, so had to have coke, my salmon arrived on my plate, upside down with the skin showing and three burnt roast potatoes, instead of the boiled ones with chives, veg not cooked, rock hard. Two waitresses thought creme anglais was vanilla custard, so my dad's steamed jam sponge came with a dollop of "fake cream", rather than the lovely custard he was expecting and was the texture of an old bath sponge. Fresh fruit salad turned out to be a couple of tins of supermarket fruit cocktail. The list is actually endless - the surroundings are so lovely though, it was our first trip there and will definitely be our last!

This has to be the worst meal I have ever had. Went with 10 other friends on a thursday night for a birthday, arrived at 8 and the place was empty and we would be the only customers for the whole eveningThe decor is lovely and if busy would be buzzing but the menu is quite small with several mistakes on it which is quite unprofessional. The cokes that we ordered wasnt actually coke, it was some cheap immitation cola that was sent back straight away.Aparently the usual chef was ill this night so they had drafted someone else in, obviously who didnt know what he was doing. The meals all came out seperatly, I reckon a good half hour between the first persons dish coming out to the last persons. Many had finished by the time others were just getting meals. Most complained that their food was warm at best. Will not be returning here ever again, truely woeful experience, we felt sorry for the waitress who had to keep coming out with all these dishes when she knew they were substandard and had taken too long, We had starters and a main and were in there for 3 hours!

We visited Mooro's for the first time on Father's Day for lunch. There was a set menu that seemed reasonable and had a good choice of food.First impressions were that the venue is very grand from the outside, beautiful building and even has a red carpet rolled out as you walk through - very Hollywood glamour! As you enter the restaurant itself I was very disappointed with how dark it was - even with broad daylight outside it was moody looking and rather like an empty nightclub. It didn't feel like a family restaurant at all and as it was so empty my heart began to sink for our cheery family lunch! The restaurant is huge and there were so many empty booths it was unreal. There were televisions dotted around and all around the walls were football shirts in frames and various other famous sporting memorabilia. I would describe it as more like a sports bar than a restaurant - which is a shame because you can tell there is no expense spared with the decor, beautiful black polished granite tiled floor, plush leather booths and a well stocked bar as a centre piece - it could be a truly glamourous restaurant but is spoiled by the cheap look the televisions and dark gloominess give it.I wouldn't describe the service "slick" by any means - more like my friend's mum dishing up a Sunday roast to her family - but it was friendly nonetheless. The food, however, is faultless. Great portions, fresh ingredients and genuinely well prepared dishes were a great success. Desserts were very good indeed. Considering it was a set price menu it was extremely good value. A pleasant surprise and compliments to the Chef.Mooro's could be a roaring success but it needs to define whether it's a glamourous restaurant OR a gloomy sports bar - it can't be both. I really hope the owners go for a light, airy restaurant - I for one would definitely return as the food is great but I will not go back to the venue as it is - too dark and moody and I absolutely HATE those televisions.

When I arrived at Mooro's I was really impressed with the decor and was surprised to see that we were the only customers in such a big restaurant on a Thursday evening. I soon discovered why. The service was beyond terrible - there was 1 barmen, who doubled up as the waiter and assistant chef, and after waiting for drinks for 20 minutes we had to knock on the kitchen door to get his attention. There was no apology, or improvement of service after this. The food was average - some dishes were ok, but my pasta tasted like cotton wool, some meals were cold, salad was out the bag without dressing. One person ordered a beef and mushroom stirfry to find it didn't contain any mushrooms, and another ordered a mixed grill - and was told when it was put down in front of him that they didn't have any of one ingredient, so was given double of another instead. Bearing in mind a main course was anything between £15 - £25 this was completely below standard. As the restaurant was so empty, I'm guessing everyone else has already discovered how terrible Mooro's is and won't be going back - I know I won't.

Absolutely disgusting place has gone down hill I called and complained about the food the following morning at 11:30am as we live 20 mins away from there spoke to the young girl on the phone she said no one around to discuss the problem and said she would get someone to call back , still haven’t received the call back 6 days later , I was not happy with the take away after spending over £60 and won’t be doing so again , they’ve served under cooked curry goat carrots and potatoes in the curry goat weee rock hard absolutely vile goat so tough and the worse I’ve ever eaten in my life reported to the environment agency for under cooked food and will never be returning to the establishment could of solved this by returning my call and complaint but with no respect or return call review and environment agency informed! Avoid waste of money and undercooked which was inedible
