Moonlight Chinese Takeaway in Stevenage

Been going to this Chinese takeaway for years as I love the way they make a chicken and mushroom curry also have had many other food they do and everytime just brilliant well done to the owners..

Chicken chow mein had no flavour just put soy sauce on it ,,, Hong Kong style chicken came complety dry had to add sweet and sour sauce …. And the beef and black bean tasted like bistro gravy P.s salt and chilli ribs were sweet like sweet and sour Defo will not be going back

excellent take away - just wish they offered delivery service Food is always hot and plentiful and great choice of menu

we ordered 2 crispy ducks and a hong Kong special fried rice. the duck was not crispy at all in fact we had to take the rubbery fat off the duck. the spring onion and cucumber which came with the duck looked old also. the rice was tasteless. cost us 23.50 i phoned and made a complaint about the duck and the person i spoke to explained that they buy the duck in and then fry it (so not made fresh i am assuming) and they dont fry it for too long so the meat then is still tender. sounds like if u actually want crispy duck you have to ask them to properly fry it which to me is absolutely ridiculous. the whole point of crispy aromatic duck is not have to peel rubbery fat off your meat!!! we would not buy from here again.

I use this takeaway whenever i want a Chinese i have never had a bad meal for here. The food is alway hot & tastes delicious only problem is they don't offer a delivery service

Expensive,the chicken in the curry was very,very tough, all sauce and not much else! Tried to pay by card, but was told cash only, and there's a cash point round the corner! But the area wasn't lot properly and didn't feel safe withdrawing money in the dark?!

Ordered over the phone from Google went to pick food up said there not on Google funny that as that's how we got menu and number said the only take cash no cards does anyone know takeaways that don't take cards it ain't 1980 to top it off they said we send our customer's to cash point which charges 1.90 and to top it of the food was crap stay well clear

Ordered hong kong chicken, lemon chicken, honey ribs and large egg fried rice. Actually got greasy, slimey chicken pieces (no vegetables at all) that were battered and fried. One tub was filled with small chicken nuggets, one was 3 small flat slices of chicken, No clue which was which because they had put the sauces in separate pots. Egg fried rice was just plain rice and very wet. The honey ribs were not good either, actually tasted a little off. This has got to be the worst chinese in stevenage. No hygiene rating either, that should have told me all i need to know!!! Avoid if you value your money and palette!

Food is always excellent from here love their sweet and sour chicken balls and Singapore noodles and rice. Friendly owners and quick service. Highly recommend.

Been using this place for years now, no other Chinese takeaway in Stevenage comes close in my opinion (and I’ve tried a fair few) Would get top marks if they joined the 21st century a little bit by ........Accepting card payments and running a delivery service. Also, this is one of the few Chinese that don’t give you complimentary prawn crackers. That said, go and pick it up, via a cash point. You won’t be disappointed, the food is delicious !!!

Fantastic food and amazing staff. Best Chinese in Stevenage by a mile. Foid fresh and delicious. Call ahead and food will be ready and waiting. Been eating there since we moved to Stevenage 8 years ago. Tried others and was dissapointed.

Always eat here once a week always had good food and service nice friendly people and top notch food never had fult with the food:)

Order was very slow and the vegetable chow mein had hardly any veg in it, just one or two slices of what tasted like rotten, gone off carrot. Nothing green? No mange tout? No Chinese cabbage? No Mushrooms? No sweetcorn? No beansprouts? No onions?Nothing was fresh, looked and tasted like meal had been pre prepared and heated in microwave, hence can't understand the wait. Husband and I both had a bad stomach after the meal, despite having different foods. Suffice to say, definitely won't be eating from here again..

We had a takeaway from here . We waited ages for them to cook it. This is the only Chinese takeaway I know in Stevenage to not give you complimentary prawn crackers, despite spending £20.00 on our meal. The food was very fatty and salty and the chicken balls were reconstituted chicken. If you like a good Chinese takeaway, don't go here

Used to go here 10-15years ago then found it went down hill BUT when moved back to the area started going again and can't fault it . Yummy , hot exactly what you ask for only downside is cash payments only

We have been visiting the Moonlight for years now and never been disappointed. The sweet and sour chicken balls are juicy and large and delicious. The singapore chow mein and fried rice yummy and they will make dishes more spicy if you ask. Friendly service and efficient. We have tried others when moonlight closed but nothing comes close. Excellent!!!

We had a takeaway for 7 people, everybody ordering something different and all of the dishes were really excellent. However the peking duck with pancakes stood out for me above the rest

Dropped in on friends recommendation and was not disappointed. The duck and pork dish I had was very tasty and there was plenty of it. Obviously quality of the food meant a long wait as very busy, in future would phone in my order.

My order was ready in 15 minutes, the food was delicious, nice & hot , big portions too. I was disappointed that they don't do starters but they weren't needed as the portions of main & side orders were big.

Chicken balls were good and sweet and sour sauce not too strong.. Beef and mushrooms.. Beef was good, very lean and soft.. Too many mushrooms chicken Curry .. Just chicken and onions no other veg Chicken and cashews nuts.. Not sauce and too many bamboo...

Hemos visitado este chino desde que era pequeño y nos siguen aquí, aunque nos hemos mudado lejos. El personal es extremadamente amable y nunca comete algún error con su pedido. Los precios son razonables y la comida es absolutamente deliciosa. Una cosa que siempre es el de carne crujiente de chili, es el mejor con diferencia en Stevenage. Lo único que cambiaría es que deberían de tener un servicio de entrega o la opción de pagar con tarjeta.

Baja en el último minuto, y como de costumbre no me decepcionó. Siempre una buena opción, sabroso y abundante. Muy popular, así que llame al orden lugar primero y luego ir y recoger.

Hemos visitado regularmente durante muchos años y aún es la mejor comida china en Stevenage. Comida para uno es una excelente relación calidad-precio. A veces la carne puede ser un poco duro pero no tan a menudo.

La calidad de la comida varía dependiendo de que forma el viento sopla, se puede ser impresionante o realmente bastante pobre, que frecuentemente en la esperanza de que será bueno que 3 veces 5 es ...

Nice food, unfortunately no gluten free for me, but my family love it, so they order it regularly and there is a good choice

Hubby enjoyed his meal - sweet and sour of some description. My crispy duck was neither crispy or good. It was shredded and not in a whole piece. The sauce was not great either.

This has to be the best Chinese takeaway in Stevenage. The set meals for two are excellent if you can't choose a specific dish.

By far the best Chinese Takeaway in the Home Counties, great quality and very good portions value for money. It's a shame they don't deliver but always busy at weekends

There are many good things with this outlet from great food with good prices to friendly staff giving great customer service. There is only two things they could work on1. Deliver as they dont at the mo.2. Card payments,as they currently dont accept any cards.All in all,get out cash and collect its worth it!

The service is very quick and efficient , the food is well cooked and fresh. It's best to ring up and order your food and then you don't have to wait.

We travel from the other side of Stevenage for the food here because it simply is the nicest Special fried rice and I haven't been able to find crispy shredded sweet chilli beef as nice as this anywhere else . If they delivered they would get top score !

Used Moonlight many times and never disappointing. Quantity, quality and good prices. The ribs are to die for.

We have eaten here twice now, both times ordering different things and have been happy with the quality of most of the food on both occasions. The only gripe we had were the sweet and sour chicken balls on the 2nd order were a bit too wet inside although the batter itself was delicious. We will definitely order from here again.

I have eaten here numerous times as its very local to me, but lately I have found the food to be very salty.good value and good sized portions very friendly staff
