Moocow in Isle of Wight

Honestly some of the best food I have ever eaten. We had the set menu and there was so much food for 6. They even replaced every meat dish for the sole veggie in our party. I am still dreaming about the cheese and cider pot, and the meatballs and steak were just so delicious. I live on the mainland and was staying with friends, but the food is so good I would be tempted to come back just for a meal and get the ferry home! Also service is top notch - attentive but low - key at the same time - you didn't notice wine being topped up and dishes being cleared - fab fab fab!!

Great place, tucked away off the high street but none the worse for that. Had delicious steak and stacked aubergine with an excellent wine. Staff friendly and attentive. Reasonably priced as well. What’s not to like!

Wow wow wow Sean and Mikee, we’re the best hosts from the start! Moocow is a great venue to host events. We had a great day, the drinks were fantastic, the BBQ and food was delicious and the music and service was great. Thank you for letting me host my sisters baby shower here. I would definitely recommend this venue 10/10

Always a gorgeous experience - fabulous Mediterranean mezze beautifully cooked and presented, stylish restaurant with a very cool vibe but at the same time friendly and welcoming. The outdoor spaces are amazing and the service from the Moocow guys and girls is always attentive and super-efficient, thank you!

Well I’ve lived in Cowes for 11 years and just three days ago my partner and I visited Moocow on one of their ‘Bar Nights’ for the very first time. Why on earth have I waited this long??? It was absolutely amazing. On one of the hottest days so far this year we sat outside in their fantastic garden (that you would never know was there) and opted for the high seat (see pics) accessible by a ladder (at your own risk) to soak up the last little bit of sunshine for the day. The garden is modern and relaxed with bean bags, tables, chairs and pallet furniture perfect for social gatherings. The cocktails were amazing, and we ate a few mezze style snacks which were absolutely delicious! Already can’t wait to go back and still can’t believe we’ve only just discovered this absolute gem.

From the photos on the website I was unsure what to expect. From arrival the evening was perfect. The hosts and staff were attentive and knew exactly when we needed anything without having to be asked but not over the top. I would say the service is the best I’ve experienced in a while on the island. They went out of their way to make a cocktail off the menu. The drink selection was fantastic and the cocktails were delicious. The food was superb and it was enjoyable to see some of this being cooked. The food looked too delicious that we sadly didn’t take any photos to share. Based on this experience with friends I’d love to return, thank you. A pleasant surprise!

Fabulous find. Great mezze style food with professional and friendly service and a really laid back but funky atmosphere. Only open on Friday and Saturday currently so book ahead!

A group of us enjoyed a great evening here. We opted for the mixed tappas where they bring a selection of various dishes. All were tasty. The service was fast, efficient and friendly and all requests were accommodated - nothing was too much trouble. The toilets were modern, clean and well appointed. We sat on the wonderful outside terrace which has an exotic feel and a couple of wood burning stoves with loungers next to them where you can chill and relax. It is a very nicely done area and perfect for warm dry times. I would not hesitate to recommend - a great night was had by all and it was good value for money

Fantastic food, impressive service, great style, can not do anything wrong! We had crab pot that was super light, followed by calamari like butter, super tasty lamb lofts and creamy rosto balls. Cocktails were great.

We had such a great evening. My mother is vegan - we informed the restaurant before our visit and when we arrived they came over and explained the vegan options and were so accommodating. The food was lovely, the wine was fabulous and it is such a lovely setting with great staff. Would highly recommend.

Great communication from Sean and Mikee in advance of arrival. Moocow is a lovely space, very comfortable and great for drinks. The food was the highlight however - most amazing Mezee plates, sensational steak strips, jerk chicken, grilled halloumi etc. Great social distancing compliance too. Best meal for a long time - many thanks guys!

It may be in the corner of a car park behind Cowes High Street, but don't be put off as once through the door it is a lovely venue. A simple, but stylish interior with a fabulous garden up steps from the entrance. Then comes the food, just amazing and served by the owners and their lovely staff. We sat outside by the fire, a great setting and a lovely relaxed evening. Terrific value, will definitely go again next time we're in Cowes.

Absolutely fabulous evening for a Christmas party of 22. Nothing was too much trouble, great food, atmosphere and excellent communication with Sean in organising, the event. The staff very pleasant and a big thank you to them too Highly recommend everyone had a fab time.

Met with friends for a meal and drinkies at Moocow during the round the island race the food was fab, we all had Mezze and the flavours were awesome also helped by beers... LoL we also had a big table by the doors which was welcomed due to how hot it was, this really is a great venue to meet up and have a great night.

So nice to go back to Moocow . Food fab . Atmosphere warm and friendly. The place had a really cool vibe, so chilled.

A crowd of us came into the bar after a birthday meal last night. We are a bunch of mature women who like a dance and the staff were happy to play our requests. What was supposed to be a night cap turned into us and the guys behind the bar strutting our stuff to Proud Mary and a few other great dance tunes. Even the dogs joined in! Thanks guys for letting us do our thing. You were fab.

Friday night visit with group of eight - the service was ok well presented food but not great. Whitebait was sent back by ourselves and others in the restaurant “bad supplier” we were told. Veggie options weren’t great - generally disappointing all round

We were lucky enough to be part of a cocktail party held here. Lovely very smart interiors. Only negative was we were not told about the roof and missed out on the experience. The staff were very polite and the canapés tasted very nice.

We dined here during Cowes week and there was a great atmosphere in this little restaurant with funky lighting and cool music playing. The decor is stylish and the open plan kitchen makes the place lively. The tables are nicely spaced apart so you have room to move and the staff were friendly and attentive. There was a Tapas menu the night we visited, we ordered a mixture of meat, fish and vegetarian tapas and they were all delicious and reasonably priced, and the carafe of house wine was very good. Hope to go back next time we visit Cowes.

Desde el momento en que llegamos hasta el momento en que la izquierda Moocow fue genial. A diferencia de muchos establecimientos Moocow tiene un excelente equipo de la casa de frente. Nos cuidaron por Jonny, Sam y Joe, que eran simplemente fabuloso. Sirve buena comida y el jardín era una delicia.

Went with my partner and our 9 month old son this evening. The atmosphere is lovely and the decor is very modern and fresh. We ordered the bag of bread, shredded beef and venison on ciabatta. One thing I would like to emphasise is that the venison was by far cooked the best I have ever tasted! The staff were very accommodating to our young son and provided me with a jug of ice water because his milk was too hot. After we finished our tapas we sat and had few drinks, I had a Moo Cow Cocktail and my partner had a Calypso coffee. It was a very enjoyable evening and the staff couldn't do enough for you! We will definitely be coming back in the future (maybe child free so we can enjoy more of your delicious cocktails).

Me and my partner fancied somewhere a bit different to eat and after looking on TripAdvisor decided to eat here. We were not disappointed by anything!! Firstly.. Its nice to finally see a modern place to eat that is suitable for families (we have a 9 month old!) 2. The food was just incredible (its not often i use this word for anything!!) 3. Although this may not be important to others our sons milk was a little hot and without any prompting a member of staff asked us if we needed some cold water for it... Nice little touch. There is nothing i can honestly fault with MooCow. Just a brilliant, different, little place overall. We intend on returning in the future to enjoy the drinks menu next!!

If you want something different, go to MOOCOW, the food is lovely, and the two guys who run it are very nice also the dogs are just so well behaved, and so nice.

My first visit to moocow loved it the food and service were great and want to return soon ,I live in Cowes and wanted to visit a while so glad I have done

only had cocktails here ,not food but really loved the place.Its bright and airy and all the staff were just lovely.We sat outside up on the terrace and it really is a lovely spot.Will defo be back for another visit .

We only had drinks, but we will be back on our next visit to Cowes to eat as the food other customers ordered looked amazing!It has a great feel to the place and is very relaxing & spotlessly clean.

We went for the first time last night with a friend.The food in here is amazing! So tasty and good size portions.Really good choice of veggie and non veggie on the menu. The staff where all lovely and we loved the interior. Check out the funky garden at the back! Can't recommend highly enough and will definitely be back.

Having been highly recommended this restaurant and staff did not disappoint. Trouble booking on the Round the Island weekend, but got in tonight and 'baby friendly'. Seem less service, excellent advice and still talking about the food. We will be back.

Amazing food with a good drink/wine selection. Relaxed and perfect in every way. Begging Mike and Sean to bring this concept to Perth, WA. Cannot recommend any dish in particular as its all delicious, fresh and tasty. This place is a must-do if you are in Cowes.

Finally managed to have lunch at Moocow today. We met some friends who go there regularly and I can see why. A lovely selection of food, good wine and great music. The hosts are charming and we'll definitely return before long. Two gorgeous dogs that I'd have liked to take home!

We met friends at Moocow in Cowes a few days ago.It is a friendly, delightful place, where you feel welcomed and well cared for. We were catching up with friends we had not seen for sometime and stayed chatting for some time, in the end I asked if we should go and were told to relax and enjoy. I have had many a good evening and afternoon in Moocow; for afternoon cocktails in the stunning courtyard garden, or an evening meal in the stunning restaurant, by the fire. The attention to detail and service is the best in Cowes. I would highly recommend this place as a must when visiting Cowes or the island.

Love this place. Have had a couple of work events here, one was our Christmas party and more recently a work conference type event. The staff are lovely, can't fault them, friendly, attentive & fun. The food is amazing, both times it's been lovely, we had a buffet style affair at our works do (to be fair I can't remember much but I do remember the food was lush) with hot and cold dishes to choose from, and the 'Chocolate Sausage' is a speciality!! Highly recommend!

Went here with friends for the first time and loved it. The food was very tasty, cocktails were lovely and staff were very attentive.My only complaint would be that all our food came out at different times, however as we were all sharing it didnt really matter.Would go again.

This is one of my favourite places to eat on the isle of Wight. The staff were so helpful as it was my friends 30th birthday we wanted to tale in a few balloons and cake and the staff were fine with this and they even gave us a present table. Food was absolutely perfect as usual, can't wait till the next time i go.

what a lovely place to have in Cowes, we are lucky to have such a venue on our doorstep. The boys at Moocow, cook fantastic food, and are always accommodating to dietary needs. The staff are attentive and friendly without being suffocating. Fabulous place by the fire in the winter and superb gardens in the summer. highly recommend this venue for a quite chat with your partner to a meal with a large group of friends.

35 of us descended upon Moocow - possibly the largest single party they had had to deal with. The food is terrific and the service impeccable and friendly. The 'mezze' style food was excellent and just perfect for a large party of hungry customers. The drinks are superb - now i'm not a cocktail drinker but was persuaded and glad I did. The restaurant seems 'out of place' - in the best possible way as in it should be in Soho or Hoxton rather than in Cowes. Now I have nothing against Cowes and am a regular visitor so if you find yourself on the Isle of Wight this is probably the best place to eat and easily the trendiest place for a drink. Highly recommended.

I cannot fault anything in this venue. Service perfect, food fabulous and tasty.. toilets stylish and very clean. Added interest are the two dogs...perfectly trained..very impressed that they were not allowed past the orange line on the floor.... but the owners should take credit for a FABULOUS combination of style, confidence and perfection... go guys... well impressed. ....

Visited with family as this is one of their favourite places to go, often booked up and I can see why! Upon entering everything is unbelievably clean and tidy, even the counter is spotless. Lots of sweet and cool gimmicky things from coat hangers to the salt and pepper pot on the table. The staff all very friendly and professional, very attentive! All with smiley faces too which is great to see! The food is just incredible, there were 7 of us and we all ordered two dishes each which was enough food to feed 10! We picked at each other's so tried quite a few things on the menu. My favourite were the spicy king prawns, actual king prawns were a treat as a lot of places don't have them anymore. You could taste how fresh and juicy they were, and the sauce to accompany it was just perfect, not too spicy but enough of a kick for them to be delicious and exciting. (Others that don't like prawns used bread and potato rosti's to dip in the sauce). Chicken and chorizo balls were a favourite among the table, and the fresh bread (which was delicious) came in the sweetest little bag.. Yet another delightful quirk. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service! So all in all a fantastic experience and will definitely be back!Thank you!!

Booked this restaurant when at home but based our decision on trip advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. The decor is very contemporary and you would imagine that the hosts spent hours choosing everything from the clock and the the paintings on the wall, to the stylish salt and pepper pots. The food lived up to expectations. With help from the waiter we chose a selection of dishes including the delicious Moocow slab 50/50 meat and veg - a starter for 6. We followed this with a variety of mezze dishes. If you like mediterranean influenced food then you will love this.

What a great place in Cowes. Only came for coffee on a wet summer's day but would love to return for a bite to eat & to sit outside on a warm evening. I also understand the parties here are good fun.

Went hear at the end of July for a birthday party. A family member had booked us up for hear and I rang the day before as the menu was a different one from usual places.We asked on the phone the day before if I had a steak meal would we get a discount as I don't have salad and veg etc. the lady on the phone said there would be no discount nor would they swap for chips or anything else. Which I thought was a little tight.When we arrived it was packed with is always a good sign in a well establishment. However I did take 15 mins to get a drink order and around 15 mins to recover the drinks. But I guess they could of done with a few more waitresses on that evening and that would of solved that issue.When it came to order food I ordered pork lion with a potato gratin and side salad of veg which I could choose if there was anything veg that I liked. I did say to have no sauce on the pork. As I not keen on pepper corn sauce. Short while later the dinner arrived with sauce on, the waitress even said try it and if you don't like it I can sort out another one! This to me was very embarrassing as it was a family meal I was very annoyed and didn't wanna cause a scene. The most annoying thing was that the waitress knew and obviously the chef knew but didn't understand why she would say "I can swap it if you don't like it' After all these meals are like £16 a pop. Sorry mojacks but at prices at £16 , and not to the customers expectations is very poor.The meal itself was very small and to be honest was not worth the money. If the price was £12 a meal that would be more like it. Even a pint was £4.50 sorry but every else in Cowes is much cheaper.Just felt ripped off in here. I ended up having a extra pint so I could wash it down as quickly as I could so no one else would notice.If I would have said something in front of my family It would have spoilt the evening.Maybe I may try this place again not sure..Never mind ! Tip! If you ask for something then make sure you don't get forced to eat something that you don't want. If I wasn't with my family then I certainly would of kicked off big time...

My wife and I visited very recently for the first (and last). Curious atmosphere, pricey and unwelcoming staff. Whilst the food was freshly prepared and of good quality we were the only customers at lunchtime which was odd given the holiday season and the juxtaposition of Cowes week.

We were last hear last year and have missed it!But gales keep interfering with our plans so pleased tofind that our favourite restaurant has got better!New dishes, new wines and same reasonable prices,You must try the venison Ciabatta, but the four of usattempted 11 dishes and that was one or two too many, Eyes bigger than tummy!You must book and please explore the menu,surely you cannot be disappointed.

Extremely contemporary restaurant, very cool interior, but still a nice and warm ambience in the mooing cow. What the name refers to is difficult to spot, but this is a modern bar and restaurant serving mezze/tapas style food, and from the menu everything is so tempting that you probably end up ordering a bit to much. We had six different items, and we could have managed with four or five. Everything was really nice, especially the crab cakes, venison on rustic, toasted bread and not to forget the moroccan minty lamb. Expertly prepared and with exciting flavours and spices.

After reading rave reviews and not being able to get a booking for 2 months I was expecting better. Ordered 4 mezze courses between 2 people; 3 of which were virtually inedible- burned crab fishcakes, rubbery ' vodka soaked' squid which tasted of nothing and was served with a badly made guacamole, and some VERY tough Calamari which was far from fresh. Drinks were nice but wine very overpriced at £7.50 a glass. Very disappointing.

Came here for a BBQ. Food was really good. The staff polite and friendly. The terrace area was clean and spacious and very modern. Royston the dog was an extremely well behaved added attraction :-)

Dined & drank here on many occasions & love the varied menu & seriously tasty treats knocked up by the boys.Always strikes me that Moocow looks like a great big white & orange spaceship that's landed in the midst of an otherwise uninspiring town centre....& I really like that. It's unusual, funky, very well designed & stylish. Probably scary to most local folk who may not feel comfortable with the decor & edgy music but I really like it.Keep going boys :-)

Very nice staff (plus the GSP Royston). Our food was cooked to order so took rather a long time even though we went at a quiet time - 2pm on a Saturday. When it arrived it was delicious. The four of us ordered a plate each of our favourite food then we added a couple more so we could all share. I particularly enjoyed the vegetable tempura, but everything was very good. The actual place is a bit sterile which is a shame as passers by might not venture inside. We found this restaurant on Tripadvisor otherwise we might not have visited.

Now, I don't get this at all. Fourth visit to Moocow and again the med with a twist food was creatively outstanding from both perspectives of look and taste. Superbly designed food in a really fun environment makes this a very special place. Very good wines, great service (friendly but unobtrusive) and superb food at a great price. Why is Moocow not swamped with customers. This place is a gem. Different but outstandingly so in all the right ways. Brilliant. You really should check it out.

I have visited MooCow on many occasions and am always impressed with the food. The quality and attention to detail is second to none and the owners Mikee and Shaun are so helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is always very relaxed and I cannot recommend this gorgeous eatery enough! Well done boys!!

Having been told to visit moo cow on a number of occasions myself and my partner booked on the day for that evening. We arrived and were seated promptly. We were asked if we had been in before and we hadn't so were given an introduction to the place, I feel this is very important with newer businesses so we were pleased to find out more.Having selected our bottle of wine we decided to order olives to come with it whilst we decided on our dishes. We chose the Sauvignon blanc which was lovely. Our olives came, on ice! Not seen that before and prefer marinated personally however I can imagine people would love this touch. We chose about 6 dishes and each one came out well presented and tasted delicious. The turnip spread was lovely with the bread, strong but really good! Overall we were very happy and want to return to try some more of the dishes as it's not often there is so much to chose from being vegetarian. We will be back soon!

So much to choose from and great little dishes instead of the normal 3 courses on offer elsewhere. Kind of Mezzes but better.You really want to try everything! Ingredients are fresh as a daisy. Been back three times with different guests and they all love it but remember to book as it gets very busy and i can see why. Sean and Mikey are the perfect hosts and the interior is funky with really cool background music. A real find in Cowes.

We fell upon this place by accident while visiting Cowes and was pleased that we did. Only popped in for a coffee and was amazed at the wonderful decor, better than visiting an art gallery.The coffee was great and the friendly service was exceptional.

We visited on Tuesday evening to sets of couples catching up over dinner. I have to say the food and service of the place was nothing short of exceptional. Keep up the good work guys

Came alone as friends still out walking. Very nice food. Had corgettes and red pepper/goats cheese. ;))). Spotlessly clean. Will return.

We ate here over the Easter weekend and really enjoyed our meal: the Spanish garlicky prawns and also the grilled venison were particularly excellent. The service was friendly and not rushed, the decor was funky and modern. The only downside for me was the very loud and intrusive music which persisted for the evening. It was not a genre that I enjoy and the sheer volume meant that everybody in the restaurant had to shout at each other across the tables just to be heard. My plea would be to vary the soundtrack and to turn it down a tad: less is more sometimes guys.

We spent another fantastic evening with the lads at MooCow last night. They helped us plan a pre wedding party. The attention to detail and personal touch that Shaun and Mikee offer is superb. Their quality customer service is also reflected in the high quality food that they create and serve. If you want a modern contemporary venue for meal for 2 or a larger party then MooCow is your place. Due to the large number we had, we decided on tapas style canapés to be served throughout the evening to guests rather than a sit down affair. The food was excellent, substantial and delicious and plenty of it. All at a very reasonable price too. The welcome drink and whole Brie with artisan breads was a fantastic suggestion by the lads too. These guys cannot be beaten as hosts in my opinion. Thanks again.

Came here for a Saturday evening with friends, we hadn't been before but our friends had, and we took their suggestion of throwing ourselves at the mercy of our host. Great choice! We had more dishes served than I can recall, all very good, some truly excellent, all served with good bonhomie in a really relaxed atmosphere. A real find!

Moocow is always excellent but on our visit recently with friends from Australia they surpassed themselves. We (as always) ordered what should have been too much food but it was so gorgeous we scoffed the lot. The monkfish was heaven on a plate and the chorizo and melon had our friends swooning! Thank you Mikey and Sean for making us so proud of British (and IOW) cuisine!

Always consistently good coffee, and service the same. Like the decorative theme and varied choice of seating including outside which really does have the Mediteranean feel in the summer.

Love Moocow - Mezze rather than tapas so portions are lot bigger. Love Mike and Sean who make it stylish, fun, friendly and you want to return again and again. The food is fabulous and regularly updated with new experiments on the specials board and their house wines are very good. The patio at the rear is one of the nicest places to sit in the summer. No view, just welcoming and homely.

Went here for the first this weekend for a works party. What a great place. The decor is very modern and really suits the atmosphere. The christmas menu was varied, delicious and plentiful. Huge selection of beverages at good prices too. The staff were friendly, attentive and good humoured. The guys that own and run the place really add to the experience. Their energy and fun really enhances your evening. We will definitely return...........Almost forgot the resident dog, lovely.

Surprised to find a trendy place with great food and service on the Isle of Wight. Loved the chicken in banana leaves, meatballs and lamb koftes . Bit curried mussels were really fab. We will be back soon.

We went to Moocow in Cowes Isle of Wight at the weekend, and had fabulous food, this place is so different to any other resturant, the food comes in small quantities, so you can get to try lots of different tastes, the atmosphere in Moocow is so relaxing and people that run the place along with the staff are just great

Had a bit of trouble finding the moocow cafe in cowes. It's just off the main street and well worth the effort. We had some lunch there with two friends from our cruise. The trip over on the ferry was very pleasant and a quick walk around the town of cowes got us in the mood for lunch. A local advised about the moocow and we're very glad they did. We had 4 entrees/starters which was just right for us at the time plus a beer or two, very well prepared a ultra fresh. Great friendly service from our waiter and free wifi to boot. Will gladly go back if in this part of the world again.

The owners of Moocow are masters at attention to detail, even down to the cocoa-dusted cow on the top of your frothy coffee :-) Highly recommend.

Had a lovely lunch here with my toddlers. Great service, friendly staff, interestingly themed decor, really nice food. Granted, I probably wouldn't want to come here if I were ravenous, as the portions are a little on the anorexic side, but for a light lunch I was satisfied. Nice coffee too. Highly recommended.

Stopped in here during Cowes Week for tea and coffee one afternoon. After the hussle and bussle of the main high street it was a haven of tranquility. We sat out the back on the patio and had great coffee and tea and very sticky, but devine, Moo Goo. Very good service and friendly too. The cafe is off the main street but worth hunting out.

Wow what a great lunch we had here,the two guys were very welcoming and even told us not to order a side dish as we already had that on another plater! Food amazing so fresh and beautifully presented.Also loved the outside court area funky furniture and it did help that the sun was out!Don't pass this place by!

I love tapas and as such can be rather fussy about it, however the food here was just amazing the two chaps that were working that day were really friendly and welcoming it has such a chilled vibe. If we lived on the IOW i would go here every week.

Visited Moocow whilst on holiday, lovely food (big portions ) friendly staff with a very relaxed atmosphere, fab decor. Great time had by all. Would highly recommend it, in fact I have, to my brother and his family who are now holidaying on the IOW.

Enjoyed a drink and tapas ( very good selection) in the courtyard which was really lovely .it is a little oasis in the middle of cowes.

We had a superb Saturday lunch here with friends. They were very busy and warned us it would take a long time to arrive, giving us the chance to back out - why on earth don't more restaurants do this? We were in no hurry and it was completely worth the wait. Very good house wine, wonderful bread, and, when our dishes finally arrived, they were all delicious. The half and half slab was particularly spectacular, with a wonderful a selection of charcuterie and veggie stuff. The service was also charmingly competent. There were minor drawbacks: decor not spectacular, and they will play unnecessary music, but overall it was brilliant and very good value. Wish we had a restaurant like that near us.

Very good for partying and dining with friends.Perhaps not the best quality fish/shellfish. Very reasonably priced and lovely hosts

Good place to grab a quick drink or appetizer plate. Went several times and was always able to find a seat indoors or out right away. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Here's my warning about this place. The portions are HUGE. We majorly over ordered the first time we went. Such a shame as all the food was great, especially the squid. Second time we were more careful, and the potato bravas are better than any chips I've had for a long time. Go with friends, and the up appealing outlook soon ceases to matter. The outside space, on the roof, is lovely and great on a sunny evening. The place is spotlessly clean, and the staff very friendly. Enjoy.

Tapas were great, modern funky decor, customer services was good. It is a great place to hang out with friends especially when there is live music. Friendly dog.
