Tried booking recently but the phone number was unobtainable. Went into Sevenoaks today and walked past.....under renovation and looking like a Polish Restaurant & Bar. So sad this little gem has disappeared. Have had some super meals here and will be much missed 🙁

Have visited this restaurant on many occasions as well as it’s sister The Montien in Westerham which is now closed. The food here is consistently excellent, very tasty and good value. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and happy to assist in your choices etc. The Lamb Mussaman Curry is totally delicious and the Tiger Cry is an interesting steak dish. Car park right opposite and never had a bad meal, which is saying something over more than a 10 year period. A full and varied menu that I am working my way through. I always look forward to my visits here.

This is the only place I come for Thai. I come here / order from here a lot. Of all the Thai restaurants this is the best one. Take today for instance, I was in London for an art exhibit and we felt like Thai and we actually came back to Sevenoaks to have their Thai although there is plenty around. The food is so tasty and reasonably priced. The staff are so lovely and the Thai is the best. Whenever I do eat at another Thai restaurant it never compares to here and I find myself comparing every Thai restaurant to this. Love Love Love this place.

The Welcome House Thai restaurant is easy to find just opposite Bligh's car park in Sevenoaks. Inside, the restaurant is clean, comfortable and cosy (there are about eight tables but I think there may be an upstairs dining area too). The menu includes all the usual Thai dishes which are promptly served, nicely presented and very tasty. Add to this the friendly attentive staff and you're all set for a nice evening.

Even allows you to put the tip on the tab! The cynical side of me does, however wonder if the wonderful delivery staff get to see what I have left as a tip? Back to the Welcome House - great food and pleasantly different to much else on offer from the Indian outlets (I support them as well - they are also superb!) in Sevenoaks. Graet for a change in spiciness - the number 66. GAENG GAE MA-MUANG @ £9.65 and the number 64. GAENG MUSSAMUN NUEA £9.85 on the takeaway menu is delicious. Their starters are just as good!

3 of us recently attended The Welcome House (previously Montien). Don't be fooled by the chintzy decor, the food is absolutely delicious and the staff are warm and friendly. There are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options and the wine list is satisfactory. And if you are a fan of 'hot' dishes they can offer very hot! For our birthday dinner yesterday, we shunned the delightful Gastropubs of our Kent village for more soulful fare, and so the Welcome Thai in Sevenoaks it was.Greeted like old friends by the owner, shown to our choice of table by the window, it was a bleak Monday night in town, but the welcome and atmosphere was genuinely warm. From the varied menu, we made our choice. Promptly and courteously delivered it was by far the most delicious Thai dinner we have enjoyed. Came here around Xmas time, craving for some Thai food but was sorely disappointed. The only dish I enjoyed was the Tom Yum soup, which had a good taste and lots of prawns. The rest of our dishes were unfortunately quite bland. We started off with the mixed starter dish with prawns and crab claws and squid etc, but they tasted like something that was pre-bought and from a frozen packet (I truly apologise if it's not). We also had Green curry and a duck dish which were both quite bland in taste especially the latter dish.

It was good to find a selection of desserts, which often don't appear in Thai restaurants, especially as they still have my favourite: bananas steamed in coconut milk. They have no credit card machine at the moment due to the new ownership, and I agree with the previous reviewer that this should be mentioned when booking by phone.

The Montien has been in Sevenoaks for years and, in that time, lots of new restaurants have come and gone in the town, including other Thai restaurants. When they are new, the decor and menu is more 'today' rather than traditional, but don't be fooled into thinking that thatmeans it's better. I was taken in for a while, then tonight I booked The Montien rather than The Giggling Squid and I'm so glad I did. The service was impeccable and the food couldn't be faulted. For a table of 4 we had a mixed 'seafood basket' and a seafood Tom Yum soup (maybe the wrong name!) For mains we had a superb steamed whole sea bass - gorgeous and very spicy - steamed curried salmon which was delicious, chicken with ginger and vegetables in oyster sauce. It doesn't sound anywhere near as delicious as it tasted! With 3 glasses of Prosecco and 2 glasses of mango juice, the bill came to £87 which we all agreed was very reasonable for the calibre of food and service. They have decorated the restaurant since the last time I was there and gone was the delightful traditional dress and "sawarsdee" welcome from the waitresses but that certainly didn't spoil the evening.I'm sure they have been affected by the influx of new restaurants in Sevenoaks but I really hope locals and visitors give it a chance. It will be such a shame to see yet another superb restaurant close its doors for the last time just because it has fallen foul of modern versus traditional values and menus.

We got the set menu at £28 and the food was ok, starters: more Chinese than Thai; Main: bad pad Thai, jungle curry was nice, mackerel with peppers - really delicious! Desert: sweet, coconut and refreshing end to meal, plus coffee. However the service was terrible! Tried to engage with our waiter, but he was very stand offish. He then mocked me when I said the mackerel was really yummy. When our desert came and I asked why the pancake was green he angrily said 'pandan leaf', we said 'sorry what does that mean?', he repeated loudly 'pandan leaf', then walked off and His colleague stepped in to repeat it also a few times till we said 'oh ok'. Then we sat for 15 minutes waiting to pay the bill so we approached the front bar and asked to pay. Things got very out of hand as the staff member got very angry because we had got out of our seats to pay and he kept saying he had to answer the phone ( which was not ringing). We said we hadn't issue with anything, the food was good, we just wanted to pay and leave but he got so angry his co-worker stepped in to charge us. It was all very strange when all we wanted to do was pay and go, yet he got so angry!

Now this has changed and from my experience of living in Thailand for many years where Thai men are far more racist than the women of that country, this attitude is exhibited in full form in this restaurant It used to be so different.!!!! It is no surprise that the Westerham and Tonbridge branches have failed. Ok ,!! you think I am just a moaning foreigner eh. Well being married to a Thai for many years I am kept in check if I am out of order with such observations.Give it six month before the doors close on this once excellent establishment.

For main courses, both the Green and Red Thai curries delicious , likewise, the pork dish we had was melt in the mouth, braised and tender. Vegetables were fresh , noodles good and rice served in individual dishes. Plates warmed - a nice touch you don't get in all restaurants. All in all, we were impressed with this little hide away in the London Road, Sevenoaks directly opposite a large convenient car park and the Marks and Spencer store. I've been to Montien Sevenoaks a number of times and always had great meals with (mostly) lovely staff, but the most recent time I went our waiter was so rude and condescending that I personally will not be going back. He was rude about what we ordered, and I felt the whole time like our table was being made fun of. Customers requesting dishes with slight variations, or ordering unusually, is not a reason to be rude to them or make fun. I have never felt more condescended, and even mocked, in a restaurant. Plus, in my opinion, the food is overpriced.

Went in a large group on a fairly quite night.Food was excellent, most of us went for the set menus, so we had a number of different dishes. I thought it was a gamble that we'd get enough - I was wrong there was more than enough. The waiter even offered additional dishes at no extra charge, it wasn't required I was already full but others on the table accepted.Everything was very good.

Popped in one evening for dinner. Service always friendly though this time very quick, so we were out within 45 minutes, a little too quick for a Friday evening! The food was delicious, the chicken satay and green Thai curry never disappoints.

We had the lunch menu, which was good. The portions were a little small compared to what I have seen in other restaurants, but then again we were there for lunch. I had stir-fried beef, which was labelled as "very spicy" - ok, so my spice-threshold may be high, and I did not find it particularly spicy more like a gentle heat. It tasted well, though, as did the other curry dishes we had. For starters we had the prawn toast and tom yam - both were also good.Nice place for lunch, and they serve Beer Chang - my Thai favourite!

Just visited and under new management and superb dinner. Their satay chicken is melt in the mouth and delicious, the green Thai curry superb as was the duck in red curry sauce and chicken & pineapple in red curry sauce. A must as they always deliver and this time it's even better.

This restaurant is probably like Marmite. We really like it, we’ve been here literally dozens of times and really like the food, given our favourite food is Thai (and we have travelled a lot in Thailand), and given the number of times we’ve been here, I don’t really recognise the poor food described in some reviews as it’s always been good (our 5 year old even loves it).The staff are extremely friendly (especially if you have kids). That said, whilst I don’t recognised the poor food described in some reviews, the décor is dated and the price is high for the décor and comparable restaurants nearby. So, whilst we love the restaurant, I can see why some people might come away feeling they’ve overpaid for the experience / food.

This is always an excellent visit for a lunch or dinner. The chicken pad khing is one of my favourite Thai dishes and the one they make here is sure not to disappoint. A prawn dish served in a batter, the name of which escapes me, is one of the best prawn dishes I've ever eaten as well. Certainly well worth a visit, especially with the lunchtime deals they offer.

2 of older kids really like this restaurant so a friend and I went. The sticky rice was good, a curry was good but the other 'spicy chicken' dish we ordered was bland, luke warm and uninspiring. The waiters were glum and the bill was high. Won't be going again.

We have been eating here for years, but hadn't been for a while. The food had always been good but not great and the service and atmosphere had usually been pretty poor but not terrible. However, the last couple of times I have been it's massively changed. The food was fantastic and full of fresh flavours. The waiter was great fun and really made us feel welcome and happy. Love it, well done to them for turning things around. I'll definitely be back.

The restaurant seemed like one of those you get on holiday when they try and drag you in off the street to eat. The staff where very friendly as are most Thai people in this trade. The seating area was over lit and a bit to bright. It looked tired and needed updating. The food was disappointing, tempura was not a light white fluffy coating rather a thick brown batter like you get on a chicken ball at a chinese and drenched in fat. The chicken in my main dish was rubbery and tasteless and clearly not freshly cooked with orange globs of oil on the surface of the food. The restaurant advertised outside a 2 courses for £14.95 with a drink included. Yet when we chose are dishes they said there was only one main ( a lamb curry dish)and one starter that applied to the offer. This was very misleading and a bit of a con to be honest which is not the best way to start a meal. I would not return and there are too many other good restaurants close by.

The food is tasteless , full of MSG , salt and suffer as well as dripping in oil. I would rather sit in a field on the freezing cold driving rain, alone, and eat mud than ever eat this rubbish food again. We have visited this place one hast time as we gad forgotten how monumentally awful it is. Don't go here ,spend your money elsewhere in the town where you will find acceptable good.We think the little Thai restaurant opposite Tunbridge Wells railway station is the best in the area without doubt.

Been coming here for years and their lunch deal is excellent. For £9.50 you get 3 courses from a wide choice of dishes. Starter of chicken satay followed by green Thai curry and boiled rice were both excellent. Service is always efficient and friendless. Ideal for a quick lunch or longer.

We eat here regularly (though mostly get take away) and find it hard to understand the number of poor reviews. There is a big menu and some dishes are not as nice as others, so perhaps people have had bad luck choosing, but mostly they are delicious. Lots of spicy items while still retaining plenty of flavour. The dim sum starter is very tasty and you can't go wrong with old favourites Thai Green or Red Curry.

Well we gave it another try. This was the lunch menu. We arrived at about 12.30 and the place was empty ( not a good sign ). Our orders arrived in good time but again tasted distinctively old and somewhat tastless. Parts of the food on the dishes was cold and even the rice had asmell of "age" about it.As much as we like our Thai food this resturant has bowled the final over.

So my favourite Thai locally was Montien in Tonbridge high street, which sadly got priced out by rising rents, so when I was driving through sevenoaks and I spied their sign my heart rose and at the first opportunity we went with the family for dinner. It was great, simply great. Nicely prepared food, fresh flavours, good value and great service. So pleased to be able to enjoy their food again and worth the drive to sevenoaks to enjoy.

After reading the negative reviews I wasn't expecting a great meal. However, it was lovely! The food was very good, portion sizes on the main menu were excellent and the service was very good. Would recommend it!

Visited with two pals recently. After previous experiences with reduced meal sizes when we all had the same set menu, two of us opted for that whilst the third chose a la carte. We reckoned that there would be sufficient food available to share. Don't get me wrong, the food is pretty good....its just that there's not nearly enough of it. For a bill of £81 (including just one beer and one cola), one would expect more. We could have dined a few yards away at Cafe Rouge for much less cost and considerably more food! They don't even give you much rice, which, let's face it, doesn't cost a fortune!I like the food here, but will I ever go again when I have to eat more food upon my return home because I'm still very hungry????

This restaurant was always the tops in Sevenoaks. But over the last year has gone from the top to the bottom. The sizes of the dishes have shrunk and this is being disguised by putting all the food on one plate instead of separate dishes . The food tastes bland and gives the impression of having been reheated many times. The husband and wife team are not the most friendliest of people with the husband being borderline anti ferang!

Went with friends who ordered one of the set meals. Set Meal A. Whilst I choose of the menu a hot soup, green thai curry and a pad thai. Mine was adequate, but the set menu would not really feed 1 person let alone 2 as the menu suggests. Disappointed as this restaurant has in the past always been good. Yes we arrived a 9:15 pm on a Thursday, the restaurant had 3 other tables full so was not packed. Probably has put me off returning

I am not that experienced with Thai food, and we have previously had one of the set meals, but this time, accompanied by my brother (who has lived in the Far East for over 40 years) and his Japanese partner, we were a bit more adventurous. The service was attentive, and the food very tasty. According to our guests, the Thai cuisine was a bit westernised, and the sticky rice was not sticky enough to roll into a ball and mop up food in the usual Thai way, but these are minor deficiencies. The mixed starters were great, and the spicy duck dish excellent. Finally, the sweets seem to have been expanded a lot since our last visit, and include a few real Thai sweets, such as the steamed banana in coconut milk, which was divine.
