We are fairly new to the area and have only just started to use the monkey lounge. I'm so glad we have as the staff are so friendly and welcoming and nothing is to much trouble, we now come here alot. The place is also very dog friendly to, which is great for us as we have a gorgeous golden retriever called Barney, the staff have fallen in love with him already. So, if you're ever in the area ,don't walk passed, pop in and say hi, you won't regret it. Martin, kily and Barney.

Great bar/pub would visit again

It's OK, just another spot's bar. Food was minimal & beer was all keg. Was expecting some good food going by previous reviews & photos, but no 😒

I love this place so much. The first place I think of when I wake up. I often wait outside until they open their doors and I can enter the sacred promises land. Monkey Beer is like a sweet nectar that I crave constantly. The staff are amazing too, and they put up with me and my silly friends and our shananigans.

Great service from Jonny and Rose. The food is much better than you would expect from a bar in the centre of a student filled area. The monkey lounge also sports an impressive range of spirits and cocktails which also tasted great. On top of all this the prices of food and spirits where very competitive.

Dive bar with covered patio. Friendly service. Better-than-it-needs-to-be Bacon Cheeseburger with Cajun fries and a Neckoil <£16. Best burger I’ve had in a while, especially in Reading. Juicy, loaded with tomato, pickle, lettuce, red onion, burger sauce. Truly yummy. Deffo coming back for another.
