Very quick delivery. Very wide menu and choice. Phone call from restaurant to make sure of what I ordered. Absolutely delicious food on arrival. Very happy and have eaten in restaurant which was equally good

There is no question that this is one of the best. Mo is a true gentleman. The food is first class. The service is first class. The best I've had.

I ordered from their website, they never delivered but have taken my money. Refusing to refund telling me to contact their website developers… Had to report them, don’t trust them as manager rude.

We visited the Mohan for a meal in March 2022, having not been there for a number of years. The food was generally ok but the service was somewhat confusing with an older gentleman wandering around sort of taking orders and mumbling to himself but then a younger chap also taking orders too. The interior is also pretty tatty and nothing like when we had previously been when it had a rather unusual and slightly quaint interior with Indian shaped booths over the tables. That has long gone and the cheap refurbishment that must have been done in more recent years is now quickly showing it’s age. Reasonable food but ambiance generally poor.

So when you order a meal from the Mohan restaurant and they forget to bring one of the dishes you have ordered. Then you phone and explain and they say it is your own fault you didn’t order it even though you have the email with the order. They then realise they are talking about a difference address even though they have never asked you for your address. They say they will send it but then It’s suggested that maybe it should be taken off the bill as it their fault. Money refunded and check it is being delivered. The answer was no as it has been cancelled. When we said we still needed the meal [we had company) and would pay for it the restaurant said no we are not going to deliver it. It is such a shame this used to be such a wonderful restaurant but this is the second time we have had a bad experience recently. Once in the restaurant and now delivery. Just to add insult to injury they have actually charged us for the missing dish again rather than refunding. So we have paid twice for a meal we haven’t had. Anyone know of a good Indian restaurant we won’t be using the Mohan again which is a shame as we have used it for years and years. ☹️☹️☹️☹️

Managed to get a table at short notice despite the restaurant being busy. Quite a small place so better to book. Good choice on menu. Staff helpful. Seems clean. Parking close by. Not the fastest service and had to wait a while for food but they were busy. Food tasty but could have been hotter. Reasonable prices. No reason not to return.

As i travel quite a bit to Stevenage i have a few favourite places to eat. I have never tryed Mohan in the past as i felt it looked a bit dated and more importantly always seemed to be quiet. Decided to give it a go and it was again very quiet but the staff were accomadating. The food was good without being in anyway remarkable, portions were standerd i have to say lamb starter was a bit on the tough side bit main was good and spicey, Dahl was bland, the only realy issue here was the price was higher than i would usualy pay, and if this place stood out in anyway i would not have and issue with that but it just didnt.

Just had a lovely eat in at The Mohan. Great service and delicious dishes. Mains were fresh and light with no excess oil. Lovely touch of a gift for the lady on leaving. Looking forward to returning.

Chicken was jelly texture with no flavour whole meal was horrid tasteless ended up leaving hungry and having to get more food on way home don't waste your money never had such bad food in a restaurant. Absolutely disgusting Don't go there.

Well they have put in a load of work and I felt extremely safe. Staff all wearing masks. Disposable menu and table covering. The food as always was fabulous..as was the service.

This place is taking social distancing and hygiene to the proper level. Having been to a few other establishments lately I was very impressed with the levels hygiene and precautions in place here. The menus actually get thrown away. Lovely food and safe if you are a little dubious of venturing out.

Decided I fancied curry for lunch, and based on past experience this was the place to go. The staff are attentive without being in the way.The menu is traditional with lots of choices.The food arrived, well presented, very good taste profile and decent sized portions.Highly recommended.

Came here early on a Saturday evening after reading other reviews, food was good but korma portion was small and it looked similar to others we saw, mixed tandoori was fine, service was attentive but food was a bit slow being served. Seems to have a good reputation and got busy with other diners and takeaway orders. Wouldn’t be adverse to trying again.

Visited one weekday evening - quite busy so glad we booked. The venue was quite light and open. Food was good - flavours ok and the quantity was of a good size. Service was a little slow Initially but friendly and helpful. Overall a very reasonable Indian restaurant and would consider returning when in Stevenage.

We have been coming here for years and always been greeted and treated well. Food is consistently excellent and staff are very friendly.

My go to Indian diner in Stevenage. Food is awesome. Cobra beer on draft. Staff are are super friendly. Had eat-ins, had take aways, they have never failed to tantilise my taste buds. Onion bhaji’s are particularly nice, and all the meat is quality.

Went here as family of four after seeing reviews giving this place four stars but wasn’t impressed The food is reminiscent of standard Indian food dished up from the eighties Peshwami naan was nice 👍

I popped in a couple of months back to pick up a take away, I had gone at a very busy time so there was a bit of a delay, but the food was great, staff were polite. All in all, hard to fault. Well worth a visit.

As somebody who is from Asian descent, who grew up eating homemade curries I like to think (rather big-headedly) that I am something of a curry connoisseur !!!

I was looking forward to my return to The Mohan, it must be 20 years since I ate here and most memories seemed fond.

Good food, standard Indian menu and attentive staff. Starters and poppadoms arrived speedily, seekh kebab and garlic mushrooms. Plenty of rice with the main course, and nicely cooked naan bread. Altogether pleasant and good value meal.

Went there for lunch on a Monday afternoon.

We don’t go anywhere else for a curry, no need. Food is full of flavour and whether a take away or dining in - always consistent. Service is fantastic. Advisable to book as not massive inside.

We regularly use this restaurant when visiting our friend in Stevenage. The last restaurant visit we found the food to be not up to it’s usual standard. However, on visiting our friend again as the weather was terrible we decided to order a take-away instead. We waited for over an hour as they were busy which was fine. However, when delivered not only was the food cold, the Prawn Curry was horrendous, absolutely tasteless watery sauce. For a change we though we would order two King Prawn Masala....the sauce was horribly sweet and bright orange, the barbecued king prawns were rubbery and very tough and hard to chew! It’s such a shame when a good restaurant goes downhill like this. We won’t be using them again.

We have always had excellent service and food here .

Myself and a friend visited here for a last minute curry. We had poppadoms for starters. The sauces and onions dishes that came out with the poppadoms were on the large side and were too much for 2 ppl and we never got through all of them. When the waiter took them away my immediate thoughts were that I bet they just top them up again to serve to the next customers? Not hygienic in the slightest. Also the lamb in my pasanda dish was v salty and grizzly.

Reall tasty hot food, friendly staff that still gave us chocolate and lollys as freebies, also discount with collection ,...

Average , average, average - could do a lot better, how about getting a new carpet for the stairs ?...

By far the best decision made by a friend to book the Mohan! Greeted at the door by a nice waiter who looked very happy to see us. He was swift to get us seated, a nice spacious table which isn't too close to the others. Started with papadoms and drinks (first of many) and went on to main course, which was by far the best curry I've had in my 20 years of Indian dining, and a late coffee. With many drinks and food, the bill came to a VERY reasonable amount, with the manager even offering complimentary drinks at the end! The whole night was nice and relaxed with a lovely young waiter making sure everything was fine, a nice enjoyable night without a rushed service. Its a shame we went on a Wednesday, I would have loved to tried the Tuesday Gourmet which looked very appetising for the price. Food was EXCELLENT. Service was AMAZING. Why haven't I tried this place before, definitely lots of deliverys from me, and I will be coming back! Thank you Mohan.

We've tried others but the Mohan is by far the best.we find it best to eat early as its a very busy restaurant and hard to get a table later on if you haven't booked.

Having been to many Indian restaurants, we know the good ones. Just been here and it's not that nice at all. Had tandoori chicken masala was very bland and yogurty with small strips of chicken. There was no spice at all to it.Other half had the chicken dansak. She didn't like that either. Try baldock Bombay bistro, chilli lounge or lancer very nice and better ambiance. Place wasn't very clean either with food stains on wall.

This is one of my favourite Indian restaurantshares in the Old town. We have been going here many years, lots have changed managers but this one is the same. Great customer service always and superb food.

Rang up to book table last minute for a birthday, the staff were extremely courteous and efficient the food was lovely and even though we lingered a little drinking our coffee there was no hurrying us out. The manager even bought out an ice cream cake and liqueur for the birthday girl so thank you to the manager and all your hard working staff we will definitely be back.

Possibly the most tasteless Indian I've ever tasted. Cobra lager was flat.Service was quick and this alone brought the score up to poor!

Searching for an Indian restaurant which served on a Friday lunchtime is quite difficult.The Mohan Tandoori was open then.Good food, pretty typical to be honest, but perfectly adequate. The staff are pleasant and the manager engages with you which is nice.The décor has seen better days. Not a huge place. Had the chicken makhani; chicken wasn't great. My dinner date complained re lack of chicken in his dish too. Rice was fine as we're poppadoms. Sparkling water was flat and I had to ask for it twice despite it not being busy at all. Onion bhajis were too oily and I only ate one of the two and normally love them. Real shame.

Attended here with a large group of people (20).The owner provided a buffet at our request and as far as I'm aware there were no complaints.A good selection was provided and there was more than enough to go around. The dishes were all tasty and well presented.Found the owner and staff to be more than attentive and friendly!

We have tried all the curry houses in Stevenage and have decided that the Mohan is our favouriteThe service is good, they do not hover round you waiting to clear to table. Good curries are sometimes hard to find in south east England as they tend to be a bit bland (I should add I live near Bradford and my local award winning curry house is one of the best in the UK).Of the three I've tried in Stevenage whilst travelling on business, Mohan is by far the best. The food is spicy and tasty, without being too hot. The prices are reasonable and service is always good midweek.

I have used the Mohan for several years now. The management has not changed, the food is good, and it's conveniently located for eating in or takeaway. Avoid at pub closing time at the weekend - it gets manic!

We had a lovely meal for our 29th anniversary. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. It was quite busy even for a Monday night. We will definitely go back. X

Love this place, don't eat Indian too often, but if I fancy it this is the place I go. Tried other Indian restaurants but this is the best one around, with good competitive prices.

By chance we found this restaurant in Old Town Stevenage.The owner ( Raj ) really nice man and knows how to tees his customers......Food was excellent Service was quick and good.The whole experience was greatDefiantly would recommend it .....

Well all I can say is my wife myself and our young kids had a laugh joking about how dire this was!! Don't know why I bothered trying it. Hope they shut down. I swear they've employed frankie and bennies chefs. The best bit about it was the balti tasted like a really bad vesta curry I had in the seventies. A bright yellow garlic chilli chicken masala. What?!?! Like a really poor butter chicken with some floppy chill is in it lol!!Total rubbish and you deserve to go bust.

Ahhh no fair! I'd waited for 3 years to revisit this place - and was sorely DISAPPOINTED! I took my new husband singing it's praises and was sorely embarrassed by the service and the food.Has the restaurant changed hands? New chef? What - please tell me WHAT has happened to make this such a horrible horrible place to eat? From snidey looks from waiters, to icky sticky scummy sauces with a skin on the top....now let's play "hunt the vegetables" in this pathetic excuse for a Korma! Garlic Naans with a soupçon of garlic and not much else! An expensive meal we certainly did not enjoy. I will NEVER go back. Whatever magic the Mohan once had - it's long long gone.

Ordered food on a few occasions, on 2 occasions the food was wrong, on most recent occasion was called a liar about what had been ordered and for what time. Terrible service and customer relations, will not be using again!!

Last minute late evening booking for 20 people. No problem and accommodated with a friendly approach. Prompt and efficient service. Very good value and delicious food.

Booked a table for a surprise birthday meal for my dad.Great friendly service from the beginning! The staff were very helpful putting up the balloons and banners and decorating our table before hand. Quick and friendly service, we were very looked after and the food was amazing, all our friends were impressed and said they will be back soon for another meal! Would definatly recommend to anyone who wants a curry in Stevenage. Thankyou to everyone at the Mohan who made our night very special!

Dropped in with two colleagues, who had eaten here previously. From the outset I was expecting a good meal as the restaurant was packed out at 6:20, we got the last table. I had samosa to start with my friends having samosas and kebab, all of which were excellent. I had the chicken with garlic, my colleagues had a lamb and a chicken madras. The peshwari mans was very good along with the alo ghobi. We washed our food down with Bangladesh beer which we all said was better than cobra or kingfisher lager. We will all return as the food, service and beer was excellent.

Yet another great meal had.Food is superb as always and such a good price.They still have paper napkins which I don't like but I can live with that.Well worth a visit.

I have been to most of the many curry houses in Stevenage High Street and to the Mohan one before. The restaurant is smaller than some, with tasteful decor and well spaced tables. The service is excellent without being pushy. I'm not a person to experiment with different curries, but if you are there is a very wide selection. I was pleased to see mulagtawny soup on the menu which makes a good starter. I had this often when I was in Pakistan and its a favourite, it makes a good lunch with plain naan. So chicken Madras as usual and all was very good. Bill was reasonable.

First time went for a dinner with friends and the service was excellent and we had a lot of food. This time I ordered take away with my girlfriend and the experience was excellent. All food delivered right after the oven. The best Tandoori chicken I've had and their poppadoms and Naans are home made and delicious! Price is average for the type of food but service and food (both quality and quantity) were top notch to our tastes.

Popped in New Year's Eve, had Mixed Grill, chicken on the bone smelt off and tasted it, rest of the dish was fine.Mains were ok, Lamb Rogan was quite bland though. I've had better meals at the Bombay in particular.Staff were friendly though.

Me and my partner have been here 2 times now, the staff and nice and friendly! Food is too die for!! Especially the tikka masala! We will be visiting here again soon

Ordered meal at 18:46 told they were busy so maybe up to an hour - no problem we can wait an hour.20:10 chased as no delivery ..... Told on its way 20:17 it arrives except it is not ours totally different order ...20:18 phone up they tell us at least half an hour to collect and send the right order but can we collect will be quicker- ok we are hungry now so we drive down and pick up the correct meals (we did get a complimentary bottle of beer- but not the 10% discount if you collect so nothing really !) Get home un pack the meal and it is still not right ! One portion completely missing !! Phone again and offered a refund for the missing starter ......I have been a customer for at least 15 years taking family and friends and also groups from my work - the previous home delivery was also all wrong We are going to investigate other options for curry in the future sorry Mohan you have now blown it with us.

Great food great service, bit expensive but definitely worth it, will recommend going to anyone. But would stay away from the garlic mushrooms, tastes funny.

I found this restaurant good for vegetarian food. Several north Indian food options are available in this restaurant. I visited this restaurant nearly daily when I was on my business trip. As usual both veg and non veg food, drinks are available.This is owned by Bangladeshi owner and people are friendly so enjoyed eating at this place.

I would like to make you aware of my utter disgust at my experience in this restaurant.Firstly we were greated by the manager who came over to our table and made a point of saying "are you Robert!?" He then made a point of accusing me of making 3 bookings, when I know full well I only made one! After having to defend myself with stating they clearly have I.T issues as the bookings were made at times I was asleep so this was impossible! The manager then felt the need to go and print off the computer a bookings list and bring cold hard evidence to the table and make a show of me in front of my partner and friends! He was extremely rude and had a bad attitude! The worst greeting to a restaurant I have ever experienced! Once receiving our food, which wasn't great! The manager came over and asked how was the food? I advised him that the chicken madras i ordered was dry and bland.... It was honestly the worst madras I had ever eaten.... This was also backed up by one of my friends. The manager then got extremely defensive and said "the madras is really good, the is nothing wrong with their madras! It's brilliant! I was just advising him that I didn't enjoy the 2 mouthfuls that I had as he asked me an honest question so I gave an honest answer. I didn't feel the need to be verbally atacked and showed up in public! After his outburst he didn't even offer to do anything about it! After our dinner we asked for the bill expecting to be offered a drink on the house!? I have never ever been to a Indian restaurant and not been offered a complimentary drink until now! Another black mark against what was already very poor service! I will also be publishing this on trip advisor to make people aware of what was the worst dining experience of my life.

As usual the service was excellent.Food is very good too.Price is good too.This place is small but one of those hidden gems that can be found.If you want a good curry at a good price with proper service look no further!

We were recommended this by our taxi driver. It's in the old town close to some decent pubs. Specials menu was excellent.Service was very good and the food was excellent. Naan breads were very good too.

Five of us had a meal to celebrate a friend's birthday. The food and service were excellent. The food was prepared quickly and tasted wonderful. The service was superb - both efficient and friendly. I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant. I'm sure we will be back for another meal very soon.

Was looking for a different takeaway after disappointing experience from our local Indian. Chose this after reading reasonable reviews, ordered online and expressly requested extra spicy (which is offered on their online site). God knows what these meals would have tasted like without this request then, the blandest meals possible arrived (on time) - supposedly the dansak should be moderately spiced without 'pepping up'. Never again! Where oh where can you get a decent (takeaway) curry in Stevenage?!

The Mohan was a regular haunt of ours in years gone by but it looks tired now and needs a good refurbishment.The food portions have got smaller(yes us customers do notice these things )The food is still tasty but I can't put my finger on what is wrong with the place.The older generation were very attentive to the customers where this new generation just seem to go through the motions.Its a shame had many a good night in there.The fact you can walk in and get a seat on a Saturday night without booking speaks volumes.

Food arrived quickly, which is not always a good thing. Had butter chicken, tasty chunks of chicken but sauce was thin and bland. Keema naan mince also bland.

The food is reliable and tasty, large selection of dishes as you would expect, but the restaurant is clean and tidy, the staff are happy and its normal pricing, even the drinks.

Visited here on 23/07/15 Thursday at 7pm. I asked on Facebook where I should eat in Stevenage Old Town and the overwhelming suggestion was the Mohan.Got seated on arrival and was greeted warmly. Decorated plainly but nice. Cloth napkins, yes. Very quiet but it was a Thursday. Who goes out on a Thursday huh?Started with popadoms and the usual pickles.My wife had chicken tikka masala which was great and I had a chicken shashlik which was superb.Mushroom rice, mushroom bhajee and sag aloo all good.Nan bread, try the kulcha nan it’s the best!The meal and two rounds of drinks £44. Yes we’ll go again.All staff very nice and left you alone to talk. No rushing they made it a nice relaxed evening.Although we went as a couple kids are welcome so we'll take our son next time.

We were 5 adults , a tiny noisy baby, a fretful 1yr old and a fidgety 3 yr old, plus pushchair, on a Satuday evening.They gave us a lovely big space at the back, slightly sectioned off from the rest of the full restaurant. We created carnage at the table, but the staff were endlessly helpful and kind, sweet to the children, and ready to help any time. We waited long enough for the for me to be re-assured that it had not come from a great big vat at the back. Everything was freshly cooked and has restored my faith in Indian restaurants, it was superb food.Thank you guys so much, we were tired and hungry after a long drive, and we couldn't have picked a better place.I am SO sorry I didn't leave a tip, we were so caught up with kids and getting back to our hotel, that I forgot and feel so bad about that, but thanks a million.

Went there a few days ago. Very nice and friendly staff. Good service. The food was tasty... nice and spicy ( as per the indian taste). Chilli paneer was the best tasting dish that we ordered.
