Probably the most hygienic cafe I’ve ever visited!. Very white, very fresh and VERY clean. The warm husband-and-wife couple who run this petite venue are very friendly and like to get to know their regular customers. Most customers seem to be buying well-packaged, quality fresh food to take away, although there are a few chairs and tables if one decides to sit in (the sandwich chiller is a tad noisy but not so much of a racket that one has to leave - or where earplugs!). Although this is an easy-to-miss venue, nestling in a area full of apartments and offices, it does seem to be popular among local office workers etc (Mizzi opens at 7 am). And, well, what a surprise! Mizzi has an excellent hygiene rating from the councils health FSA inspector.

Absolutely thrilled to have stumbled across this little place on the final day of our holidays! Popped in to see if they could cater for our little one who has Coeliac disease and they were absolutely amazing! Put our minds completely at rest and staff were so friendly and brilliant with the kids. Us adults all really enjoyed our food too. Highly recommend!

Found Mizzi on TripAdvisor and based on the excellent reviews chose to try them on our recent visit to Cardiff. Five minutes walk from the Millenium Centre in Cardiff Bay, just along from the Premier Inn. We were not disappointed, totally lived up to expectation. We got a meal deal to take out the first day, had lunch in the second day before we left Cardiff. The panninis were delicious, not only the fillings but the panninis themselves, sesame seed topped. The coffee was really good too and all freshly made, really reasonably priced. They were very busy while we were there with the lunchtime rush but were really friendly, thoroughly recommend a visit.

Located just round the back of Premier Inn we decided to pop in for a quick brekfast. What a great choice - fresh lovely home made cake, just cooked pastryand great coffee served in an exceptionally clean and pleasant space. Just lovely and so glad we chose an independent over a chain coffee bar (or the hotel).

Despite living in the Bay for a number of years I only recently realised this place existed. We used the Click and Collect page to order our lunches and turned up to collect at our allocated time slot. The baguettes were delicious and fast, friendly service to boot. Highly recommended and the cakes on the counter looked gorgeous so will be returning.

Good panini selection including vegan options, well made solid tummy filling food. Their soya hot chocolate was really good too.

Called for a breakfast Monday morning and had a Quesadilla, absolutely delicious, could taste all the fresh ingredients. And fresh home made cakes at prices that other shops charge double or triple for factory made items.spoke to the owners and it was obvious that they took great pride in their establishment and so they should. I would definitely recommend a visit to anyone visiting or working in the area.

I bought an afternoon tea to take away for my mum yesterday for Mother’s Day and my daughter bought me one also so we could eat them together. It was delicious. A lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes and the price at £10.50 was very reasonable indeed. There was more than enough to fill us up. I would most certainly recommend. We try to come here at least once a week for the best breakfasts and coffees around. Such a nice treat when working from home and the food is always delicous. When I'm heading into the office as well this is my first choice of places to grab a healthy and tasty meal deal to take with me for my lunch, there is so much choice including for veggies and vegans which is so great to see. We always get a warm welcome from the owners and staff. Can't recommend Mizzi highly enough!

I try and get here as often as I can, usually for the veggie sausage baguettes in the morning. But recently I’ve tried their vegan Christmas panini and it’s amazing! I’m on my way back for another one now!

I go here for breakfast most days and I can tell you, this is a fantastic little Coffee & Sandwich shop. Great selection and lots of brilliant vegetarian / vegan stuff. If you’re down Cardiff bay and want to find a special secret shop, this is the place. Run by a wonderful, friendly couple this independent local shop so a must for those who prefer to support local people.. Costa it differently isn’t but hey you get what you pay for.. open Mon - Fri 7am - 2pm.. treat yourself and spend some time at Cardiff bay's best kept secret 😁 find it next to the little coop 😂

Living and working on Cardiff Bay, Mizzi is the perfect coffee shop to have on the doorstep. The Staff are all so friendly and have a genuine smile and interest when talking to customers. The food is all prepared fresh onsite and there is a wide ranging selection from sandwiches, hot quesadillas and fresh salads. There’s also perfect coffee and great cakes. Our tip - try the chicken quesadilla or the Caesar salad - we visit that often now they’re always on order when we walk through the door.

Absolutely amazing fresh food! The cakes are the best I have had in Cardiff! Plenty of choice with vegan options available. YUM! ❤️

Tried Mizzi in Cardif Bay for the first time last week will definitely be returning Delicious food ,so many choices, well presented,friendly staff and very clean.

Mizzi is only a stones throw from where we live so I have lots of opportunities to sample their menu. Vegan options are fab and growing to now include a vegan afternoon tea to go along with their vegetarian and other versions of a great treat. I’ve also had hot toasties and panini whilst non vegan partner has had breakfast rolls, toasties and our favourite the superfood salad. We take away and eat at home but there are seats inside and out. Did I mention their amazing cake 🍰 and friendly staff?? What’s not to like ?

Mizzi is an absolute gem! I have tried so many different items and the quality is brilliant, The soup is better than most restaurants and the sandwiches,baguettes, panini's and salads are so fresh and tasty. The vegan and veggie menu is growing too which is great. If you're in the Bay during the week then it's well worth a nice stroll around the dock to this place - it's the best place for a light bite. The afternoon tea is delicious too.

I have visited Mizzi weekly since moving to the area and I will continue to do so! The service is excellent, welcoming and friendly. The food is exceptional, fresh and tasty and their cakes are to die for! They offer a fantastic selection of food and have a great selection of Vegan options. I ordered a cake platter and a fruit platter and they were divine. The fruit was beautifully presented and so fresh and tasty and the cakes were amazing! A lovely selection including lemon drizzle (my favourite) and gorgeous little macaroons. Everything was delicious and my guests were very impressed. I will definitely be ordering these again for any and every occasion.

I have had food from Mizzi before, working close to their premises on the Bay and I've always enjoyed their very tasty sandwiches. When I saw that they were offering afternoon tea as an option I decided to order two vegetarian portions for me and my boyfriend.It was just the right amount, everything was extremely fresh and tasted delicious. The sandwiches had plenty of filling without spilling out everywhere, the scones were extremely tasty and the cake bites were excellent. It was actually so appetising that we realised halfway through eating the food that we didn't take any pictures of the whole thing (we really wanted to rave about them on social media and give them all the credit they deserve!)Highly recommended, will definitely order again- a very reasonable treat (£8.50 PP)

Stopped by on our cycle trip intending to just have a quick coffee but was tempted by the delicous looking cakes and am pleased to say they exceeded expectations! The owners bake the cakes and are really welcoming so we highly recommend this cafe as they have lots of delicous sounding breakfast and lunch dishes too.

I was in Cardiff for work and stopped here for breakfast and then came back later for lunch. Delicious coffee. Lovely, tasty and reasonably priced lunch deals. Lovely staff too who were very friendly and helpful.

My mums friend booked afternoon tea for my mums birthday after I recommended Mizzi. I decided to gatecrash and after a last minute phone call to Mizzi they accommodated the extra portion at really short notice which was massively appreciated. The food was of really high standard and well put together. The sandwiches were nice and fresh and weren’t scrimped of filling, the cakes soft and ever so tasteful. Even the strawberries were delicious! The portion size was more than enough and great value for money. I would definitely recommend the afternoon tea from Mizzi and would not hesitate to order it up again in the near future!

A wonderful afternoon tea at mizzi on Monday very fresh and perfect , the scones was lovely and warm it made our day special the staff was wonderful and very friendly, nothing was to much trouble 4 them .we will definitely be seeing you again soon .

Swung by for some lunch with friends earlier this year, what a superb little place. The staff were very accommodating even though it was busy and there were a large group of us. Tables nice and clean, nice decor and staff were very friendly. Could really relax here with no pressure to 'eat, pay and bugger off' like so many establishments these days. Food was superb, and reasonably priced. I went for the soyrizo (sp?) and red pepper queasadilla (sp again). Was lovely! Would definitely visit again. Highly recommended!

We had a mixed platter of original and vegetarian for my sisters graduation celebration and we all loved the food! The brownies were incredible too!Really friendly service! Thank you again.

So far I've had a breakfast bap and a Mac and cheese lunch. I've also bought Baguette lunch and breakfast for a colleague. On all occasions I called in advance and the maximum wait was ten minutes. It's super fast and reasonable prices. The staff are just as much a reason to go - they're super friendly and really accomodating. I have a nut allergy and not had any issue ordering or fear eating which is a major relief and plus point.

It was my first time at Mizzi's today and it will not be my last! Inside is lovely and clean. The lady who served me was so friendly and made me feel very welcome. I ordered the superfood salad with chicken and my boyfriend ordered the chicken tikka baguette. One of the best salads I have ever had! Both were absolutely delicious, so fresh and really filling. I cannot wait to try the rest of their menu :) Go and support your local business!

Without doubt the best lunch place in the area!I live nearby and since I work from home I visit almost every day. They serve freshly prepared food made with top quality ingredients (large selection of salads, sandwiches, panini, cakes & pastries...). My favourite is their superfood salad, but it's a hard choice because everything is absolutely delicious.And as if that wasn't enough, the great food is coupled with a very friendly atmosphere: every visit to Mizzi is a pleasure!Highly recommended.

Just a couple of doors from the office. Friendly staff and a great selection. Was nice and fresh. Have tried paninis, quesedillas and jacket potatoes. Really tasty and very filling. The cakes look amazing but managed to resist so far but can’t see my willpower holding out for much longer

What can I say, I've rarely come across such a friendly atmosphere coupled with exquisite food. On my first trip, I had the chicken tikka panini - the perfect bread:filling ratio. On my second trip, I sampled the vegan roast Mediterranean vegetable quesedilla; it was full of flavour and made a nice change from the usual vegan offerings of falafel and houmus.I would happily visit again and would recommend anyone in the local area, or just passing through, to give it a go.

My friend came over & surprised me with an afternoon tea from Mizzi. It was perfect. There was a great choice of sandwiches on soft white & wholemeal bread & the cakes were delicious & moist, as well as generous sized scones with cream & jam & fresh strawberry garnish. Of course we couldn't eat it all but it was so freshly made, both the few sandwiches & cake I had left over kept well in the fridge for a snack the next day. Just as good as any hotel or restaurant afternoon tea. Would definitely order again

I visited Mizzi for the first time about a month ago when they reopened after lockdown. In allhonesty it was the best lunch-time decision I’ve made. The fact that I’ve gone there everyday since they’ve reopened is testament to how good it is. Four of my friends have now visited since this discovery and enjoy the food just as much as I do. 1. I’m greeted as soon as I walk through the door. 2. It’s the cleanest establishment in Cardiff Bay.3. Food is well varied and caters for lots of dietary preferences. 4. Most importantly, they’re consistent. The staff are incredibly friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I go in almost everyday and sometimes ask for special variants and they’re always happy to offer an alternative or customise my food. Madeleine and Michael are more than happy to adapt to your personal taste even if it’s not on the menu. The vegan selection is far from boring and is a lovely change from the usual offerings elsewhere. ‘Soyrizo’ is a particular favourite between me and my friends. Vegan banana bread was a new offering yesterday and it’s super tasty. I really couldn’t recommend this place highly enough, so so pleased I found it. Thank you both! 10/10

Mizzi has reopened after the lockdown and is as good as ever.Social Distancing in store with a one way system around the store.No indoor seating at present but three well spaced tables outside.Plenty of their excellent food and drink available.Happy to be supporting a local owner, indepenent business.So happy to see you back.

The only reason I’m giving a 4* is due to the price. Lovely staff, lovely little establishment, spotlessly clean.... everything else was without doubt, a 5*. I had breakfast which was really tasty, but didn't bother looking at the price, much to my dismay when the lady told me how much it was. 2 x breakfast pots (each with 1 piece of toast) and 2 x regular sized lattes, cost me just under £20 which I personally think is extortionate.I know they use Heinz beans, but apart from that, each pot included 1 x egg, 2 x small sausages and 2 x small streaky rashers of bacon. I struggle to understand how charging £20 for this is reasonable and a consumer friendly price.Also, whilst the establishment may charge this much due to the quality of their products, they need to be consistent across the board... why not include a thick slice of sourdough or bloomer for the toast? Because the toast I had was a thin, bog standard piece of white toasted braces bread. I much prefer supporting local business and also don't mind paying a bit (key phrase there: **a bit**) more for my food, but I’m afraid this was significantly over priced. I’m not sure whether the covid 19 crisis has left this business in financial difficult, such that they have had to hike their prices, but I would have preferred the server to tell me that they have had to temporarily increase their prices for that reason... had they done this, I would have thrown more money at them and probably purchased more. I’m not sure whether its financially feasible for this establishment, but one thing they should definitely consider is a breakfast package... so you pay a (reasonable and proportionate) set amount, then have the option to add on a hot drink and/or toast (some good quality sourdough or bloomer) for an extra £1/£2 or whatever it may be. I know I might appear hypercritical, but I love nothing more than lovely small businesses like this, to succeed and provide good quality food to their customers, at a reasonable price. If they are prepared to charge £20 for 2 x small breakfast pots and 2 x regular coffees, they needs to be able to justify it. If they cant, then they simply shouldn't be commanding such high prices. To conclude, I really encourage people to support this business. I’ve lived in the apartment block above for a couple of years, and when I saw this establishment open I was so pleased. The food is really tasty and fresh and I suspect the cost to rent (or even to purchase) the premises, is/was quite high. Whatever it may be, I hope this review is useful and gives the owners some food for thought

I have lived down the bay for 4 years and i am gutted I only stepped foot into this wonderful coffee shop just over a month ago! I was so pleasantly surprised with how good the coffee was, and how fresh and tasty the food was, I have gone back every week Since.I’m slowly working my way through the salads and can’t recommend the quesadillas enough!!

Easily the best place for lunch in Cardiff Bay, so many options even for vegetarians, all freshly prepared and will make anything up on request if it isn't in the fridge. Curried chickpea toastie and the quesadillas are amazing!

¡Qué pastel tan increíble! Definitivamente es algo para tener una y otra vez un lunes. Tomé un trozo con una taza de café, el pastel era tan suave, sabe muy bien y se siente como una fiesta en la boca. Puedo pensar en muchos superlativos para describir la experiencia, el pastel de plátano de Mizzi es uno de los que hay que tener.

Whilst working in the area I've had breakfast most days at Mizzi. The food they make is fresh and the quality is much better than other coffee shops. To top it off the staff are so friendly. Thank you so much to Madeleine and Michael!!

The main thing that drew me here was that the place opened at 7 since that was when I was going to be in Cardiff, unlike some of the others around the Bay that don't seem to open until 8 or later. But enough about convenient opening times, I was really impressed with the friendly, helpful service. The place was great too - easy enough to get a couple of hours work done before meetings, but would have been equally suitable for chatting with friends over a great coffee. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

I used Mizzis for a buffet lunch plus fruit for 34 people today for a training event. Firstly I was so impressed with correspondence ahead of the training event. Madeleine was extremely professional with email responses very fast! She took time to ask exactly what I needed and all special dietary needs were catered for....sometimes not easy with 34 people! I have confirmation the day before which out my mind at rest when I'm organising lunch for so many people. The staff also dropped off the lunches to the venue which was well above the call of duty! The sandwiches and wraps and baguettes were of excellent quality. High recommended and most people had seconds! The fruit platters were amazing. Good quality food but so affordable as well! It worked out at about £5 per person which I thought was excellent. I would highly recommend Mizzis Cardiff Bay.

Fantastic little shop with a great variety of food, both breakfasts and Lunches (and at decent prices). Staff are very friendly and always welcoming. Always a good time to stop in and have a coffee with one of their lovely pastries!

To have a quality, fast and fresh food outlet just outside our office is a great benefit, although if it was further away I would still regularly make the journey.

Whilst primarily a place to pick up a sandwich, baguette or salad for lunch there are 2 or 3 tables and stools along an eating bar beside the window if you want to eat in. There is free WiFi and plugs to recharge all along the eating bar too. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the quality of the food and coffee is excellent.

So glad to have Mizzi's on our doorstep. I regularly visit for my own lunch which is always great. Their sandwich/baguette fillings are very tasty - well seasoned, very fresh and the quality of ingredients is the best that I have come across in a long time. They recently helped me out for a corporate lunch - very last minute and they were fantastic! The food was very well presented for such a rush job and I received lots of positive comments from our clients. I cannot recommend Mizzi's enough!

A gem of a place in Cardiff Bay, just right for a snack or lunch. Family owned and it’s all prepared fresh every day by the owner (Mick). Chatting to him he clearly has a huge amount of experience and is so passionate about his business and is dead keen on making sure he finds out what his customers want and making sure he delivers it. His staff are really nice too. Prices are reasonable, plenty of seating, free WiFi and charging points a real bonus. This place is good, if you live or work locally try it out. Apparently he’s able to cater for local business needs too with corporate platters. Amazingly he’s only been open 6 months.

I have breakfast here fairly regularly. Lovely coffee, friendly and helpful owners and staff. The range of sandwiches and baguettes is great, with interesting veggie options. Also a good selection of cakes and treats!
