Extensive menu with lots of wonderful dishes to treat one's taste buds. We were pleasantly surprised by the choice of available alcoholic beverages. The owners/hosts were warm and friendly and took time to go through explanations of our curiosity about some of the dishes. Strongly recommend a visit, we certainly will.

This restaurant is a hidden gem! The pounded yam and ogbono soup were absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the taste was truly awesome. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff added to the overall dining experience. I highly recommend trying this restaurant if you're in the mood for some flavorful African cuisine!" 🌍🍲😄

This is the worst meal I might ever have had, partly my fault for ordering something I didnt like but the service was appalling. The restaurant was nowhere near full but we still waited an hour for our meal, when it arrived my partners meal was ruined as her sides were wrong even though the waitress confirmed twice what she wanted, salad and potato wedges whereas what she got was rice which she shouldnt eat. As it had taken an hour we didnt send it back and the waitress had disappeared before we could complain anyhow. I had the peppered goat soup which apparently is a delicacy so £15 and the waitress did ask if I wanted it spicy, when it came it was the spiciest thing I've ever eaten. That I could have coped with possibly but it also was just offal and bits of lung and fat. I counted the actual bits of proper meat and there were 3 so £5 each as all of the other "meat" was inedible. There was also an issue early on where I was asked if I wanted ice in my drink, I said yes and sadly didnt get any until we managed to catch the waitress eye about 20 minutes later. I wouldnt have mentioned this apart from it just added to the lack of service. At no time were we asked if we were happy, if we enjoyed the meal or if we wanted anything else. Once we'd finished what we could eat I went and asked for the bill paid immediately and we will never go again.

I ordered goat curry. It was a small dish, tasted old, with 6 pieces of "meat". 4 of them were bones, the sauce was tasteless, fat pieces, thick, tasted horrible. I felt bad after. Plantains were soggy and cold. Lots of rice served. Only coleslaw was ok.

Was visiting Bournemouth with my family as we do every year. A friend had recommended al madina restaurant where I was taking my family for lunch but when I got there, looked into al madina and didn’t wanna go in. Was attracted to the restaurant just next door which was mimis. The Vibe from the music, the decor made me curious. I told my family that’s where we are going. We stepped in, and guess what, customer service was the best. Food was delicious as all family enjoyed it and we even went back the following day. Any time I am in Bournemouth, I know where to go. Thanks guys x

I’d say poor at best. All food tasted the same. The waitress was quite possibly the laziest waitress I’ve experienced in my life. However, the worst part was that we had decided to try here as part of the eat out to help our scheme. Scheme it was for them as they insisted it was only £10 discount per bill. I paid then realised and the chef came out to explain how “confusing” it all was. It’s clearly not as every where else understands a concept of 50% off. Will not recommend. Will not return but will report to HMRC. In it together! Not at Minis!

My family went here last night for a birthday meal, and what a night it was! The food was delicious and authentic, the owner was lovely and let us dance around the restaurant and even stayed open late for us. What a lovely, welcoming happy place, will definitely go back :)

As frequent visitors to Nativ in The Lansdowne, we were keen to try out this African restaurant. We had the goat meat pepper soup and the set menu that included jerk chicken, spicy chicken, goat curry, jollof rice, plaintain and coleslaw. Huge portions, great flavours - jerk chicken and goat curry were some of the best I’ve tasted.

Ok so the reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 0. My husband eats this african food and he often likes it from mimis. Only a few timed he hasn’t been happy. But I am vegetarian. I ordered the only vegetarian thing which is plantain and salad. On the menu the salad sounds really nice. (We got home delivery)... the plantain was nice yes. Can’t really go wrong with plantain. Thought u couldn’t go wrong with salad, I was wrong. There was frozen veg which was steamed but still hard n semi frozen. The cucumber was steamed also. Soggy and see through. Cucumber should be cold and hard. And only 1 slice of tomato. How disappointing. To think I fed my kids earlier and waited for them to go sleep so I could have a cheeky take away. I waited til 9pm. Hungry and looking forward to it. When it arrived I cried. So disappointed all I could eat was the plantain. So sand up raising my cupboards for biscuits n crisps cos I was still hungry. And it cost £7 for that piece of c**p.

We have today experienced a very bad service from this restaurant. We had to wait and wait for the food to arrive, to our Caribbean lunch club, then when it eventually arrives, it was lukewarm and did not have what was ordered, so MIMI you have had my first and last lunchtime club order from me.

. . en breve, muy poco!

Pleasant waitress who recommended the dishes. I had chicken, fried plantain, rice and shredded cabbage. Food was cold, tasteless and poor quality. My wife had fish, fried plantain, rice and shredded cabbage. Not much better. My two sons had the vegetarian option. Big mistake! Same as the other dishes but without the meat. I felt sorry for them. The meal looked miserable. I would be embarrassed to serve anything so poor to guests at home. They were still hungry at the end of the meal. And to add insult to injury- £47.50 and no breakdown of the bill. Why didn't I complain - I guess I'm too English. The only good thing about this restaurant is I doubt whether it will still be there in a few months- unless they change the chef. Do they really eat this badly in Africa?
