Miller and Carter in Bedford

We had Elise as our sever, and Morgan as our grill chef, both were extremely pleasant & helpful. Both offered exceptional customer service, couldn’t have wished for anything better. Thank you so much, had a wonderful meal!

I went for lunch with my fiancé and future mother-in-law. We went for the Sunday set menu. It was fantastic. The service from Elise was amazing and we really enjoyed our time. The food was delicious and reasonably priced considering the quality and atmosphere. I'll definitely be visiting again. We drove from Sandy to Bedford just to have a family lunch and it was lovely. Thank you to Morgan (grill chef) and Elise (server).

Had a lovely celebration meal at Miller & Carter Bedford last night. First time to this branch but staff were all lovely and our waitress Eleanor was amazing - we were a group of 11 but we were so well looked after, she really could not have done more. Food was gorgeous, came out together and hot and all the steaks were cooked to perfection. Will definitely return and would recommend- if there was one negative, it’s that the carpet is very worn and could do with replacing.

My first time at Miller and Carter and we ate from the lunch menu. The food was delicious. Starters were generous and our mains were both steaks which were superb 👌 Our server was so friendly, attentive and made the whole experience a perfect venue to treat my Wife for a Birthday lunch. Definitely coming back soon

First visit and it did not disappoint. Steaks were great and perfectly cooked. Children’s menu was large, as was the vegetarian selection too.

The setting and placement of the restaurant within the town is lovely with the river close by. Ther atmosphere within the restaurant is high class but not unwelcoming

First time coming to this restaurant and will definitely be coming back. Our server was Katie and she was amazing. We had a very complex allergy friend and she spent time working with her on what she could eat. This was something that we have not had before. She is such a credit to this restaurant and she made our evening out such a good experience. We will definitely be back and would hope that Katie is our server again. Katie made the visit to the restaurant a pleasure and will be back 100%. nothing was too much trouble for her.

Food was really good, the service was ok but not one of the servers looked happy to be working. The restaurant is very tired looking with stains on carpets and toilets not very good

It was our first time as a family for my sons 18th birthday. I was so impressed with the choice and the fact there was a gluten free menu too. The staff were super friendly and answered any questions we had as newbies! They also gave us guidance on what to order according to our tastes - excellent attention to detail regarding service. The food was amazing...I ate the fat on my steak!!! I NEVER eat the fat but somehow every bite was delicious! I'm also happy with the cost. We'd budgetted for an expensive meal, it was a special occasion but this came under budget so I was even happier

Visit once a week but was disappointed with steak today...a little over done.

Staff members were not very attentive during our visit. We ordered and the Lettuce Wedges were brought to the table after approximately 30minutes, we expected our steaks to follow but they did'nt arrive for another 20minutes and this was after going up to the bar and chasing up our order. Very disappointed with the service we received as the restaurant was not too busy (5-6 tables), unlikely to return or recommend.

Sent the steak back 3 times for it being undercooked. And compared to other miller and carter's I found this one to be less attentive and the food to be much colder.

Drinks took 20 minutes, starter (bread!), over 30 minutes. Mains over an hour. Food was great when it arrived but it was all so painfully slow, making me think twice about returning.

Me and my partner ordered miller and carter take away after reading and hearing excellent reviews and praises however this was not the case! we ordered ribs and cheese and bacon burger + 2 cokes. The food arrived minus the drinks which was disappointing as we paid extra for the drinks, the chips were cold and had a stiffness to them and didn't taste nice. The burger didn't taste good the bacon was over cooked and hard and the burger itself had no flavor and a soggy piece of Lettice. The ribs were the only thing that wasn't a disappointment but still not great. Overall the Food and the experience was horrible and we will not be ordering food from here again.

Gotta be one of the top restaurants in Bedford, and I've tried a lot. This is one of those rare dishes where every single thing on the plate was delicious. Perfectly seasoned and tender sea bass, didn't even need the tomatade sauce but still delicious together. Cheesy potatoes had a crispy, chewy bottom, SO good. Grilled veggies and pea puree all bursting with flavor. I would eat this dish every day for the rest of my life. Even my husband who's a steak lover was jealous of my plate after trying a few bites. Service is always great, the waitress caught us on our way out and let my husband know that he'd forgotten his hat in the booth. Friendly and attentive!

Our first visit and we had a really lovely time. Waitresses were attentive and friendly, and it had a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Meals were really nice and cooked and presented really well. Very tasty. We weren't rushed at all, which we liked. Highly recommended.

We visited you for the first time celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary and we couldn't have been more pleased the food was amazing and the lady that served our table she went above and beyond she said that when we had finished our desert that she had a surprise for us. She brings out a plate saying happy anniversary in chocolate with some strawberries and chocolate we was truly grateful and impressed we will definitely be coming again soon if you can please say a massive thankyou to the lady that served us please

We waited 40 minutes to pay our bill and we were questioned over our £25 voucher. Our waitress only checked on us once and never asked if we wanted more drinks etc, even when we clearly had empty glasses. Such a shame as we love Miller and Carter, but we felt we were not valued during this visit! We also waited a while to be seated. It felt like many of the staff just kept their heads down and ignored us. Not really a great experience!

Our server, Jade, was very bubbly and helpful and really made us feel welcome. The food was superb but the facilities could use some maintenance

We celebrated our son's graduation last night. The staff, food and service were 2nd to none. It was my first visit but I'll definitely be back

The food as always was amazing but the service on this particular visit was less than stellar. When we were seated it took around thirty minutes for our drinks order to be taken, even though there were plenty of other staff available, as they were talking to the barmaid (a group of around four girls). Then when we eventually were greeted by the server she said that everyone wanted the bill at the same time. Our server wasn't as attentive as I have seen in other locations as there was only three tables that were waiting on food. She was slow to take away our starters and only checked back on us after we had eaten the food. Slightly disappointed as our other experiences of Miller and Cater elsewhere have been so good.

Came here today for the first time and it was absolutely amazing. The food was great and was big portions too. This isn't the cheapest restaurant but you definitely get what you pay for. Was served by Abigayle today and she was brilliant, so friendly and was constantly happy which made the whole experience here ten times better!

Absolutely fantastic experience, excellent service from the staff members and the food was out of this world best steak we have ever had. Loved it when we rang the bell and the chefs all shouted “wheyyy” every time really did top off a great night by knowing the chefs knew the customers loved there food Will be back 10/10 Couldn’t recommend more

An hour and a quarter from starter to main with lettuce and steak arriving at the same time. Way to long especially given the price. Clouded whole experience.

Had a brilliant date night here, food was fantastic, our server Amanda was brilliant, super helpful and friendly. The 20oz t-bone was one of the nicest steaks I've had in a long time. Definitely coming back here again, well worth the experience.

We went on a Thursday evening without booking & we waited at the bar for around 15 mins for a table to become available and grabbed a refreshing drink whilst we waited. Abigayle was our waitress that evening & was a delight, so engaging & welcoming! The food as always was delicious.. we ordered off the set menu and were too full to finish our puddings, so Abigayle ensured we had them boxed up & we took them home. We throughly enjoy coming here as a special treat & it never disappoints! Thank you!

Dinner for six needed on a Saturday at 6:00 pm., needed to book well in advance. Seated promptly, fast ordering and service with drinks, prompt menus and ordering. Good table space in relation to others. Good food and portions. Not chased out for 8:00 as expected, left at 9:15. Good gluten free grub. Will visit again

We were greeted by Tegan. As it was my first time visiting a Miller and Carter she took the time to explain the difference between the cuts of meat and answered all our questions. She also moved us to a bigger table to accommodate our needs. A return visit has already been arranged. Thank you.

We hadn't booked and the restaurant was very busy. We were greeted promptly and told there would be a fifteen minute wait. We were asked if we wanted a drink or just to sit and wait for a table. We chose to have a drink. There were several couples waiting ahead of us but they were quickly accommodated. The food was lovely and the service by Amanda was second to none. We had quite a wait but expected it as the restaurant was so busy. Amanda kept us informed and popped out to the kitchen to get updates and let us know. This was a great advertisement for Miller and Carter. Well done to all the team there.

We visited miller and Carter for my birthday, we have been to several branches and enjoyed them all. On this occasion we were served by Amanda, she was amazing from start to finish, the food was incredible as always. We ordered a butchers block and amanda gave her knowledge of how best to cook each steak - she wasn’t wrong! We very rarely tip when we go out for a meal but we were so happy with the service we received from Amanda that we did tip her, she made the meal more personal and even made the effort to get to know me and my partner and even bought me a platter to celebrate my birthday - lovely touch! She is an asset to Bedford miller and Carter. The only downfall was where this restaurant is sited is next to a very busy walkthrough (although perfect if you love people watching). We will definitely be returning!

Second time coming here first experience was great hence why we came again, but I will not be returning. We ordered drinks, took 30 minutes to arrive at the table, this was the same for every round, found something wriggling within the salad bowl, when my steak arrived, which also took a while, it wasn't cooked how I asked for it, wanted medium and got medium rare, it had clearly been sat on the side for a while as it had gone cold. The service was very poor, was in the restaurant for 2 and half hours, in that time people had come in after us, got seated, served, eaten and left before we got our mains. Paid premium prices for sub par service Will not be returning!

I love that this Miller & Carter is a slightly smaller one, and has more of an intimate vibe. There is a great atmosphere in here- whether quieter, or very busy and bustling (which is usually the norm), it's always felt pleasant, warm and quite homely. It's definitely got the feel of a buzzing restaurant, and it oozes a classier vibe. My friend and I have made it a tradition to go for lunch here on Christmas Eve, which I highly recommend as it's such a good Christmassey treat! Their festive menus are a great mix of seasonal exclusives and their classic dishes. Have never been disappointed with the food either and will continue to go back!

The way we were greeted at the door, our waiter Ed, the food were all outstanding and the atmosphere was great!!!! The food took a bit of time to arrive (but that’s not even a complaint) but it’s so tasty it was well worth it!

Table for 5 eating out to celebrate a birthday, we were initially asked to keep the meal under 2 hours to free the table which was ok with us. However due to how long it took for our food to arrive we were longer than 2 hours and late for the next part of our evening. The food was only just warm when it was served, but by then we were so hungry and short for time we ate it. As it was a special occasion we ordered the 50 day mature black Angus steak. Don’t. It was no different to a cheap supermarket steak. Absolutely no flavour. And considering the cost, it comes with a small cut of tomato and a little wedge of potato (as if you’re going to be so blown away by the quality of the steak you couldn’t want for more on your plate). We also chose to ‘upgrade’ with lobster tail. Don’t!! Small and dry. Absolute dissatisfaction and waste of money. As I’ve mentioned the food was only just warm (nothing like a cold chip and the feeling of disappointment to compliment your tomato wedge and small, dry bit of lobster) but you’ll have to argue with a chef who believes themselves to be great (although they’ll leave your food under a hot plate for ages because they can’t time 5 meals to be ready at once) through a waitress who will take your steak back to the kitchen and bring it back again expecting you to just get on with it. But you just wash it all down with a bottle of wine that cost you £36 (which would have cost you circa £5 in a well known supermarket). So to sum up. Long wait. Cold food. Very very disappointing steak. Expensive drinks and kitchen staff who are ready to argue. Unfortunately the mood was already so low I didn’t feel like arguing with staff when it came to paying, for the sake of my mums birthday. I hope this might prevent someone else from having a celebration turned disappointment.

I think the location is a perfect spot, the decor was very modern and the atmosphere was perfect as it was easy to have a conversation with the table and not fill like u are being listened to by other diners. I think the price could be looked at as u would say they are a bit expensive and if I didn't have vouchers I dont believe I would be able just to hk but fir a meal with my wife.

They seated us in the corner where no one else was sat and we like the social atmosphere of the restaurant. Both our started came cold but they weren’t fresh at all. The calamari is frozen then fried but tastes terrible. The batter is very thick. Would not recommend it. I had the prawns and the prawns were so chargrilled they tasted burnt. I told a member of the staff and they took it off the bill but very disappointed because I love my seafood. Also to mention as well they took 30mins for the started to come. I order the sirloin and my partner ordered the ribeye. The salads came and they were dirty at the bottom (not washed) and there was clearly a lack of care when the chefs were handling the food. The garlic Parmesan dressing was horrendous and when the fries and steak came, the fries were cold and not fresh. I knew this because I saw my food sitting on the pass for about 10-15minutes. That also violates food hygiene. My steak sauce as well also came cold as well and they waiter had to take it back and get me a hot one. The service was atrocious, they were not busy and standing round talking as well as just not making eye contact with the customers so you are not seen to. I told the manager at the end how I felt about the whole experience and he didn’t apologise he just said we will take your feedback on board. The total amount with 2 mock tails came to £92! What a waste of money. The manager didn’t give me any discount and was very blunt and not understanding. DO NOT GO TO MILLER AND CARTER IT IS OVER RATED.

Our first visit to Miller and Carter and it certainly did not disappoint. We had vouchers as a wedding gift, and being first timers, had the pleasure of Katie being our waitress, who explained the menu and made recommendations. We took her advice and had an incredible meal. The steak was cooked to perfection, as was the lobster tail. We will definitely return and hope to be looked after by Katie again. Thank you 😊

This is still way over rated and over priced. The food was ok but just OK but over priced for what you got. Had T.bone with about 10 chips for £40 so I won't be back in a hurry unfortunately. 6/10

Came for a birthday meal - wanted a quiet and special evening with my wife. Table not ready at allocated time (20:15). 30 minute wait to be seated at a pre-booked table is not acceptable. Finally seated in a booth style table located right next to toilets, staff till and prep area - the noisiest area of the restaurant by some margin. Table was so crammed was uncomfortable to sit in because table pressed into your chest - I’m not exaggerating, could NOT have had a meal there. Had to ask to be moved as couldn’t hold a conversation with my wife and was very uncomfortable physically. Several menu items we wanted were unavailable - perhaps if you’d have seated us sooner we’d have got them… Speed of starters (cheese/garlic bread and olives) was prompt. Speed of main course very poor. Finally served 21:40. Server took order wrong (I ordered surf and turf and only got the turf). By this point I don’t want to wait to reorder and delay our meal further. Drinks were not checked on. I timed it out of interest and my empty glass sat obvious to all servers walking past (which was frequent as we were still in a high traffic area) for over 20 minutes. When I eventually stopped someone to ask for a drink, it took over 10 minutes to be delivered to the table. Overall, service was poor. An expensive meal out with us spending over £150 in total at the bar and meal, and we rightly expected a premium experience. Finally after paying, server (who was polite and friendly) left, but we were not thanked by anyone nor did anyone say goodbye on the way out. Bitterly disappointed to be honest.

I was having a really bad mental health day and spent the whole day crying in bed… I had been craving some steak for a while and decided to come to miller and carter as I heard good things. Amanda served me and made sure my stay was nothing short of amazing! She had a smile on her face the whole time which inevitably made me smile and she made sure I was attended to! She is a very strong asset to your waiting staff! I will definitely be visiting again just because of her!
