Mike's Famous Fish & Chips in Aberdeen City

Most disappointing fish and chips I've had for a long time. Very slow service, very small portion and an incredibly high price. Absolutely no value for money. Will go elsewhere in the future.

All freshly cooked. Proper chunky chips. Very tasty

I was waiting 20 minutes for only chips and they gave me burnt ones not good at all

Waited 30 minutes for food from the blackburn shop on a relatively quiet Sunday night. From observation the staff don’t look like they are getting along. Not to mention the floor is really slippy. Overall food was fine but the fact the team aren’t organised and the long wait. It’s not great compared to my expectations.

Can't belive I ordered chilli con carried meal £8 got a half tub and kids portion of chips waited in store for half hour they are more interested in getting Aberdeen ears orders out then the customers waiting famous for what the queues

Ordered food at 6.42pm and still waiting for food at 8.35. was estimated delivery 55 minutes. I've said to the wife if the food isn't here by 9 I won't be paying for it and will be sending it back. Being type one a rely on delivery to be as close to delivery time. Half and hour I can let go but that's now over an hour and still waiting. Update food arrived at 9.00pm been on the phone to staff the lad was nice and apologetic. Even the driver was apologetic. Two girls that work the counter also have some attitude and aren't very good with customers. Well done mikes chippy probably one of the last orders I will put in thanks to your staff. Ps food was Luke warm

Mikes fish and chips are the #1 chipper in the north east. Chicken fillets are 10/10 and would highly recommend. Staff are helpful and always have time for conversation. All menus are clearly displayed on the tvs and sitting areas is very clean. Looking forward to returning.

Declan handled our complaint well. He was really lovely. The food was great as always but the young ladies need to work on being more friendly and smiley as it wasn’t the smiley bunch that I remember from before. Luckily the food is so good.

Takeaway delivery fish supper chips were solid not fresh and fish was dry and certainly not fresh made and partners scampi was not fresh either wont be back 20 odd quid for that total disgrace

They stare at you. While one queue there must have been an another staff on day off they were busy chatting. The girl put through till walked with mop in her hand did not wash the hand then placed the order ticket. Stopped over a 2 years love 5 mins from there, the boss man is a good friend but since they are busy with new branch, the staff running really are getting less interested in taking order. 11.25 for standard supper and also have to wait 15 mins despite phoning on ordering 20 mins earlier, no change was given either.

Mike’s famously slow fish and chips. 35 min wait for a portion of largest size fish n chips, was pretty small. Fish greasy and half stuck to the paper. Missed items of order.

Great chippy, quality of the food was brilliant. A bit on the pricey side, but worth it for the quality of the food - you get what you pay for! The place was packed, very busy which is a good sign that it's popular. They served within a reasonable time considering the amount of customers. Staff were helpful and listened to preferences regarding our order. Will definitely be back

Missing items from order no offer of refund, all good ended up cold. Whole order should be replaced or refunded. Shocking service. Avoid much better chippies in the area.

Had the pleasure of eating in this establishment whilst working in the local area and being away from home. Clean, fresh and very filling. I must say very well priced. Highly recommend 👍

I stopped by here one Sunday teatime. I hadn't preordered my fish and chips. My order was taken, I moved along the shop and waited. I didn't have to wait too long but chatted with both employees and customers whilst I did. My food was ready, I headed home and sat down to the most delicious fish supper I have had in a long time. Beautiful white, flaky haddock encased in the crispiest non-greasy batter and fresh, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, proper chip shop chips! Everything was piping hot and remained so right to the end. What a treat! I will be using Mike's from now on and not bothering with any other fish and chip shops in the area.

Not sure what Mike is famous for or where he is famous. But food was nice and hot. But don't get a supper (fish and chips together) ask for a fish on its own with chips on their own, as you hardly get any chips with a supper and for the money you want more !! Not such a cheap dinner anymore 😕

had to wait over 20 minutes in an unpleasant and cold waiting area, unfortunately the food was not worth the wait. never seen chips like it before, chunks of potato with no flavour. fish was good just a shame for the rest.

First time visit to this chipper in over a year , order was taken swiftly then a 10 minute wait while my order was. being cooked and prepared for me to take away . Good parking area, waiting area in shop is small luckily there was only three folk in the shop at the time . Price was a bit heavy compared to other chippers I visit almost three pound dearer than the others for the same order of Jumbo Haddock supper . Staff pleasant enough with hello etc . Food packed in a card box , keeping the food hot , five minutes driving home and I was ready to tuck in . Portion of chips was adequate, large cut chips , the haddock fillet was very good and fitted its description of jumbo , very pleased indeed . I’ve had poor experiences here in the past which is why it is my first visit in over a year though I must admit very happy with tonight’s service , food quality and quantity , price though is a wee bit too steep when other chippers charge a lot less . I recommend a visit based on this experience though if you’re treating the family make sure you check out the prices first .

Place order for sheltered housing and they delivered on time lovely fish everyone enjoyed it. Will recommend to other groups. Thank you for great service, we will use again.

I should have known when it was empty at teatime it wasn't going to be very good, the young lady who took my order was nice but it all went wrong from there, rubbish food that obviously wasn't fresh. I will not be going back.

Paid over inflated price for a small fish and a child's portion of chips ,only famous for rip of prices nothing more .. but try it for yourself

Zero service... Just stood there as 4 people behind the counter... 4...just pretended I didn't exist. Back in car to find someone else. Eye contact, presence acknowledged, nothing. Horrible.

Long wait after ordered, only 2 customers in front of me. Cold wsiting area.Ordered £8.75 fish £3.50 chips. Drive home 5mins Food disappointing Small size fish looked like a child's portion,with tail shape chips of mixed colours & cold. Never to return. Poor value £12.25. Better buy frozen cook at home.

Waited ages for very average, but overpriced, food.

Well done to the staff it was a hectic tea time but it was wonderful to watch them while waiting for my tea time treat they were so calm and professional thank you guys.

3 stars. Average fish and chip. £13.55 for a standard haddock and chips with a bottle of water. Total rip off. You are not even afforded with complimentary sauce. 70p for a tiny sachet. Get a grip.

Asked for a none battered sausage but got a battered sausage and was charged nearly £5 I cannot stand battered food so that went straight in the bin, I got a portion of chip and was very small again nearly £5 and they was dry so angry about this all just went in the bin Came for collection said be 10 mins when arrived still had to wait for it as it wasn’t ready this is ridiculous I would not recommend this place at all been to other chippys there food was better and I got what I ordered and didn’t get scammed again furious!!!!!

High prices, long waits despite short queues and around 10 staff working. Food is just standard chippy food and the portions don't justify the price, it's neither quality or quantity. Not worth your time or money.

Poor service. I mean how long does it take to deep fry something? 10 minutes max? Surely not 45 minutes. The food also didn’t make up for the wait so I won’t be back.

Just been for supper charged £3.00 for chips only got about 12 chips 1 red pudding ok the other one was well done baked potatoes was not hot girls attitude not good

I have been here a few times and it’s been really nice but my food and service today wasn’t great at all. I phoned in my order got told it would be ready in 15 minutes waiting 20 minutes then I went down to collect it had to wait half an hour in the shop as it wasn’t ready i get it busy. The communication with the staff wasn’t great at all had to constantly repeat myself. There was bones right through my fish with totally put my off my food. Won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

Overpriced and over rated. Had to bin most of it due to the amount of salt that had been added. Horrible

For the price it's really sub par. I got a fish supper and a half pizza. The pizza was totally bland may as well have been cardboard dipped in batter. The fish and chips were also very bland. Aside from the food, they didn't have forks so had to dig into my chippy like an animal. Fish supper was £10.30.

Great chips, all we can comment on as that's all we had, they had big chunky chips, crisp, fluffy and tasty.

At the car wash so decided to treat ourselves to Mike's standard fish supper it was delicious, served with a smile and the gentleman was friendly. One website said they open at 3.30 and we were going to wait, great they open at 3.00. Late lunch. Hadn't been to Mike's for over 3yrs. We will be back again

Communication wasn't the best as they did not speak clearly and was not communicating well for our orders, for example my partner had chips and I had a burger single so no chips yet they put me through as a meal and then put salt and vinegar on my chips without asking, the cheese was bad and the burgers tasted cheap, chips were good and my partner said she likes the mozzarella dippers, overall a 3 star is me being generous as for the few times we have been including the last time I went there communication and food was not up to the standards I'd expect, last time we had went also I had just got chips along with my partner and they asked her if she wanted salt and vinegar then when it came to my chips she didn't even attempt to acknowledge me and just did salt and vinegar, just rude to assume and not even ask such a basic question and didn't even give me time to stop it from happening

Would give ZERO STAR NOT 1 star. I as a customer have the right NOT to accept food that I had ordered for delivery that was over an hour late. NO APOLOGY from the RUDEST AGRESSIVE ARROGANT DELIVERY DRIVER I have ever met ! ! Food was COLD . . . bag wasn't even sealed or closed. Just handed me the food . Why would I pay £30 of cold food . STINKING RUDE ATTITUDE when I refused the food. To be sworn at was totally shocking Complained by email & got a phone call from the manager. She apologised & said she would speak to the so called driver . . . I don't think that's going to solve anything if he can't even apologise & thinks swearing at a customer is totally acceptable. She said ' I hope you will use us again ' really ! ! I will never set foot in your establishment & non of my family & friends will aswell. Went to Lows fish & chips instead where the food & service is 1st class.

No body was in front of me I waited for 23 minutes for spicy chicken goujons. Staff was focus only on Uber orders. The. 2 people who come after me was served before me. I just left without my order had enough of waisting mine time.

Ordered large fish and chips and it was very dry and overcooked, there are better chip shops in aberdeen.

Never again, an eye watering £24 for 2 fish suppers and a small bottle of coke, quality and the size of the fish for the price paid shocking, I would not recommend nor go back there.

Ordered in store, Waited 25 Minutes for 2x haddock and chips, Got Home to Eat & thats when we found out the fish had been cooked very crispy/Burnt. I suppose they were too busy dealing with APP orders to keep an eye on the fryer, and then they served the burnt fish anyway. Will not be going back.

Absolute disaster , been a loyal customer for years but this is the last. Ordered on line for delivery ETA 50 minutes, okay with that, an hour passes and we call for an update, just being prepared we're told, 20 minutes later, call again, spoke to some girl who supposedly was the supervisor with a dreadful attitude, we explained the situation and she suggested we come down for refund no apologies then she hangs up. Redialed and a guy tried to help, ended up with refund on card and no food . If any management reads this, maybe they will respond to our complaint . Certainly won't be back 😡😡

Food on point, Service even better. That young lad that run’s it goes far and Beyond to help you out. Staff are lovely and the new shop in Blackburn where you can sit in is excellent! The ambience in the Blackburn shop is great. Our new Friday night sit in treat! Thanks To the Mike’s team.

Arrived at 8.30pm asked if the sitting area was still open told yes so Ordered didn't get food till 8.55pm and then told couldn't eat in as they were closed so we sat in the car in the car park but we had finished our very disappointing fish suppers by the time there last customers came out with their takeaway very poor first and last time.

Mike's famously slow fish and chip shop. My Daughter ordered a portion of chips and it took over 20 minutes for them to be served and this only happened when I complained. Furthermore they offered no apologies. Outrageous when the chips cost £5.

Mugiemoss shop is always good. But in future I will give Blackburn shop a miss after my first try of it. Over cooked standard sized haddock that was supposed to be a jumbo. was very dry and tasteless. £11.00 for a supper that was fit for the bin.

Ordered 2 fish suppers for pickup 'ASAP'. Arrived for pickup to be told it would be 55 minutes so had to wait. Restaurant continued to serve walk ins. Make it make sense. Long story short, don't preorder because there is no point.

They say it’s famous and there’s a reason for that…lovely fish and chips, and was impressed by the “we’ll give you a number and call it out when it’s ready” system. Which is needed as it was very busy! No seating area at the venue but there’s no shortage of park benches nearby for al fresco fish and chip fun.

Half pound burger wasn't the best the biggest shock was the price half pounder burger supper quarter pound burger supper and 2 bottles of water come in at just over 20 pounds and for what I received was well over priced. The chips were good quality thick and chunky

Don’t bother using the delivery service. The order arrives cold and soggy. They do not care enough to rectify when you complain about the state of your order. Or perhaps they did not care because I was a black customer.

Really enjoyed meals we chose, but unfortunate that they don't have the option for breaded fish.

Delivery no 9 - Del time 5.50pm 4th April 2023 Delivery of Mac and Cheese Pie... inedible.it was burnt. Smelt stale far from fresh.No quality. Thankfully other orders were okay. Sadly no excuse for selling inedible food...

Mike’s are never a disappointment, it may seem pricey but take away the VAT and it’s good value, great quality and very tasty. Friendly service too.

Normally mikes is spot on but I arrived at 19:55 tonight, and started giving my order to be told “sorry we’re closing soon” . Advertised as being open until 20:30. Bit disappointing to be honest.

Fish was cold, so were the chips, which were not that good. Not good value for money

We got there about 5pm and no queues. Quick turnaround for two standard haddock @ just over 9 quid each .... ouch! Been a while since c I bought a carry out chippie. Very nice fish and chips well cooked and parcelled. Might be nice to throw in some peas for free at that price?
