YO! Aberdeen Union Square in Aberdeen City

I'm sorry to say it was filthy. From the minute I was shown to my seat, I was covered in rice just by sitting down, the work surfaces were filty, cutlery (no chops sticks for me) dirty, extractor fan above the sauce pots was covered (and I mean covered) with congealed dust and grime ready to fall into your sauce. My food was luke warm at best and made with the cheapest cut of chicken I've encountered. To add insult to injury I was charged £50 for a total of 4 small plates and 2 drinks so guess there was a significant service charge in there I knew nothing about (no receipt). The only pleasant thing was the staff were friendly.

i ordered at 6.15 and it said est. arrival 7.15 and this time just kept going up and up till 8.30 saying it was still getting prepped. it finally got sent out and i got my food at 8.45. i know its hard work cooking and i would of been fine if the est. time said the time it was actually going to leave at. i was just a bit annoyed how the time kept getting pushed back. i did have to microwave my food when i got it as it was cold by the time it was delivered which i get can happen.

From watching the map provided on the website the driver clearly went to the other side of the city to deliver other food. As such My order was stone cold by the time it got to me 1 hour after placing the order.

Absolutely shocking experience with just eat. Almost 2 hours late despite calling the restaurant trying to cancel as we were now going to be for a social event (couldn’t apparently as they’d already started preparing????) and then food was stone cold. Appalling.

Really nice restaurant and staff, however I felt the food was quite expensive and small portioned in relation to similar restaurants.

The service is super responsive, everyone asks and comments. The food is disgusting, the chicken is runny, there is a lot of sauce that doesn’t taste like meat. There is no hot sushi. The soy sauce seemed to have stagnated. The sofas are sticky. The food is very spicy, the menu describes it as a mini ostrata, but you can’t feel the taste of the food, meat, vegetables, just the ostrate. There are no comments about the rice, the rice is good and sticky when cooked.

Ordered at 6:30 and was told it would be within the hour, didn’t arrive till 9pm and stone cold

£8.20 for 4 veggie gyozas and £8.50 for 5 chicken ones is extortionate. I ordered a few weeks ago, same thing, and the portion size was nearly double. Same with the edamame, half the size it usually is, seaweed too. Disappointed doesn't cover it. Won't be in a rush to order again.

Trust me – just don't go there! I could write a book about our dinner. If you're a vegetarian or vegan, save yourself the disappointment – the chefs complained that they had to make vegetarian/vegan dishes (there was a lot on the menu) and they sold us a "vegan hoisin duck" when in fact it was real duck in the end. The waiter also tipped himself already in the end on the bill and asked if he could put on more, when the service and food was absolutely horrible.

Came to Aberdeen with my daughter today, Yo sushi is her favourite so treated her to lunch. Her food was perfect as always but being approached by the same two staff members over and over asking if everything is OK and asking us if we want to order more food really ruined the experience for us, Yo sushi is an attractive dining experience because it's chilled and laid back, this is the first time I've experienced this and really put us off. In a short visit our table was approached on 7 different occasions.

Ramen was really lovely! Enjoyed the kiwi,mint drink!

Order was missing a starter from the feed two for £20

Very poor staff. Told kitchen was closed an hour before actual closing time, and that no new food was being prepared, then watched as they cooked and prepared orders that were collected for delivery. Staff cleared away the belt 45 mins before closing. What food was there was ok. Very much felt like we were in the way and an inconvenience, despite paying over £80 for the privilege. Avoid, certainly not worth the money they are charging.

Edited review: After a previously bad experience we were absolutely overjoyed upon returning to this restaurant. The issues previously mentioned were rectified. Staff were attentive and well-mannered. Food was delicious and overall an enjoyable experience. Very please with the efforts made to fix previous complaints! :)

We haven't ordered from Yo!sushi in a while. The portions seem better, had plenty of rice packed in. Beef teriyaki was a bit dried out.

Chicken Katsu Curry and the crushed cucumbers were really good. Tried some sushi and decided to write about the Katsu Curry instead.

Hadn't been to Yo! in at least 4 years, so some changes to navigate- didn't seem to be the server button at the table anymore, instead having to rely in catching the attention of any disinterested staff circling the place. Food was as good as we remember, many nice new dishes. Cheapest plates are now at least £5.something however, while price rises are daily life now- charged upwards of £70 for two with a moderate total of plates and a couple of cokes was a little sickening unfortunately. Good food but expensive in a deflated atmosphere

Such food as I got was fine, but they forgot three orders, couldn't supply two, and had such a dirty kitchen, I didn't feel like waiting for them to rectify the situation. Dire.

my popcorn shrimp hardly had any sauce and ontop of that the portion size was ridiculous for tbe price

Booked a Mother’s Day dinner. When placing our first order told there was no tuna. Subsequent orders, no cucumber, then no chicken wings, then is was no kaiso. Asked about the box of 10 cucumbers sitting next to us in the kitchen, told “oh I don’t know.” Unhelpful. Fine ordered what we could. Poke bowls came, order was wrong, informed waiter, waited 20 minutes and he didn’t come back with the correction. Got forgotten about. Then discussed the same thing all over again with a different waiter who didn’t seem to know his arm from his leg. No pomegranate seeds on our poke bowls as on the menu, asked, told there wasn’t any, though there was an entire pomegranate sitting right next to us on the kitchen counter. Figured the same as the cucumber scenario (they “don’t know”.) little exasperated at this point. Discovered my ‘base’ of spinach in my poke bowl transpires to be all but 7 spinach leaves. Yes I counted because it just seemed ridiculous as this point. So many dishes “unavailable.” Sister waited over an hour for an order that got forgotten about and never came. We left it as the next r ice was just diabolical it wasn’t worth the effort. £10 off bill but this was just such an unfortunate visit, particularly as we were treating our mum! Limited menu and shocking service. Hugely disappointed. Haven’t eaten here in years and the standards have dropped significantly. I would not recommend visiting.

“It’s them again!” What an appalling service we received from the server and the lady who was making sushi next to us. Asked for extra drinks and got this phrase coming from the lady cooking in an open space and the server. They looked at each other like I asked for a pot of gold. I used to like coming here but not anymore. Voting with my feet and telling all my friends not to go. Service was on Sunday 3rd March at about 3 pm, I was with my teenage daughter. Should have reported to Manager but decided not to make a scene.

My food came fast and in excellent condition! No to mention my driver was an absolute gem, so lovely and polite! Thank you again for all parties involved! Have a great evening <3

Driver failed to read delivery instructions, resulting in them getting lost.

Poke bowl was nowhere near as nice as normal. I paid for extras and there were tiny amounts when they normally come in extra containers. Very poor! Clearly a different person to normal making. Inconsistent standards.

Hidden service charge which I only noticed after leaving the restaurant and reviewing the receipt. The food is decent, and for sushi the value isn't terrible. Some of the dishes are bland and forgettable. Considering all of the ordering is done over the app / taking food from a conveyor belt, where is the service for this service charge?

First time in Yo! Absolutely loved it. The food was absolutely delicious, and the shop was spotlessly clean. We ordered some hot food too that was cooked in front of you as you ordered so it was fresh and very tasty. The squid was cooked perfectly, as was the Korean chicken, very tender and full of flavours. We will definitely be back in the next time we visit Aberdeen.

Whoever packaged this forgot that physics exists. The curry box (unsealed cardboard container) was placed the bag in a way that allowed it to fall. Upon receiving my order, everything in the bag was covered in curry sauce and the bag was ripped. This also led to there being a lack of sauce in the curry meal itself.

Always excellent just a bit upset they changed the ordering system but food is great as always

Nice place, good food. Now you order using the app which took us awhile to download and use, so slightly time consuming. Once we got the app it was handy, just abit modern. Now we know we can order kids bento boxes using app which is good.

Japanese sushi and “to-order” options available. Conveyor portion sizes are small and expensive. Service was ok but nothing to write home about.

Me and my brother went here a few days ago, 15 minutes after we left we both got the worst food poisoning we ever had. We are still ill but very disappointed.

This is the first time to use just eat and order from yo sushi and we are very disappointed! The portion size was really small I ordered a chicken and noodle main dish and I had 2 small pieces of chicken ! The meals were all cold and worst of all my sons food didn’t even come ! Which was one of the most expensive items that we ordered !

Driver got lost. The map appears to have reverted to a much older version with incorrect details. The map used to be correct, but has apparently been loaded with outdated information. I tried to use the report function on the map, but it did nothing. Glendale Mews and West Glendale Mews are 2 separate buildings in completely different locations. The map used to display this correctly, but now seems to think that they are the same building.

Did not receive part of my order, without the wasabi my meal is not what I paid for, very disappointed

Very tasty salmon! very small sushi rolls. Sushi rolls for 1 points. Nice ramen but a lot of soup not so much ingredients, but tasty.

Curry was almost cold but still tasted good. The portion size is v small considering the cost. Most places would serve double the amount. Good all round but not value for money.

Was always a favorite but it's going downhill,sometimes short of ingredients for popular dishes,tonight arrived 2030 they close at 10pm according to website,they were not busy but said no more walk ins but bookings only accepted till 1300 on a Friday. Went across to wagamanas friendly welcoming and wanting the business, yo sushi dont care,more intetested in packing up well in advance. Very poor, surprised they are still in operation

Während wir dort waren, war sehr wenig Sushi auf dem Rollband. Oft war es über längere Strecken leer. Sicher kann man auch aus der Karte bestellen, doch macht den Reiz eines Lokals mit Rollband aus, dass man sieht und nimmt, was einen anspricht. Ein Lob verdient die kostenlos angebotene Wasserflasche.

I ordered warm Endamamae beans and got stone cold ones. I had a warm Main so it’s not like it went cold during delivery they just didn’t read the order properly!

Went in for the first time in a while with kids. Service excellent, atmosphere was inviting as it was fairly busy and kids loved theatre of all the food on the belt. Got kids eat free bento boxes for wee ones which were generous and they really enjoyed. Good fun for all.

First time in a sushi bar it was a great experience,recommend!

Not been since before Covid and it looks like it’s not been cleaned since we were last there. It also cost way more than I remember. The sushi was ok but the hot food wasn’t great. Won’t be going back.

Went for lunch recently (June 2023). The conveyor was empty for most of our meal, the hot items we did order took ten to fifteen minutes each time, ordering via a qr code is a massive pain, the service was bad and they had the cheek to add a service charge at the end. Not to mention the price is now just silly. I won't be returning any time soon.

They've brought back the old system of grabbing dishes off the conveyor!!!!! Fantastic. There are also dishes which you have to order as before but now you order them on the app rather than asking staff. Kitchen wasn't understaffed finally, staff friendly as ever, it's the perfect neurodivergent dining experience imo. They've also expanded the tuna range, though I hope they expand the menu even more because I miss old dishes like the orange chicken.

All changes are not very good 😕 paying for drinks and items off the menu is stupid and then paying again when the coloured plates are all finished with, definitely not eating there again.

The sushi is incerdible. My only remark is that I ordered ginger and I didn't get it, and also there were no sticks with the sushi, without it the experience is not as fun :D , I really enjoyed the food, thank you.

The order said it was delivered at 18:20.. it’s not 19:00 and I’m still waiting.. called the store and they called just eat and just eat called me and said yes your order will be with you soon.. every time I order there’s issues…

Food is fine but majority of staff are poor (there are some good ones though) Update: prices are up, portion sizes are down. Looking really dated and in need of a good clean. Place looks like it's not been maintained.

Everything poor in quality: chilled rice, very little salmon, tiny pieces, flavourless... the people weren't so nice either. Would not recommend.

Was missing my raspberry sauce, but the food was delicious and came in really good time.

Ordered my food at 14:38 arrived at 16:20. Went out for delivery at 15:00 and watched a driver drive around Aberdeen. Then looked like he went back to restaurant at 16:00 to actually pick the food up which was stone cold when it arrived (katsu curry and gyozas) so I’m assuming it just sat in the restaurant for an hour from when the driver was meant to pick it up. And they still gave him the same food when he returned?? Terrible service. Driver also got defensive and very rude when I asked what happened.

Lovely sushi prices could be more reasonable it's quite expensive but I suppose fish is these days, pretty much anything you order in here is gonna be delicious.

Went there yesterday and ordered our food at around 8:10. Food was alright but by around 10 I started to feel a bit weird, light headed and cramps I put it down to being tired from working all morning, well woke up this morning and felt as I was going to pass out, really dizzy and just not great felt really nauseous. By the time I made it home I was hanging over the sink not having a good time, trying to think what was wrong and only assumption I have is food poisoning from my meal. I have had sushi from many restaurants and have always been fine, but this time I feel like I’m at deaths door. To add on the kitchen area was not the most clean of places by the looks of it, one of the fans on the left side above the food preparation area was THICK in dust I had noticed so who knows what else is lingering around that we can’t see. I am really disappointed as I have always wanted to try it but I don’t think that I shall be back in a hurry I’m afraid

Schrecklich, definitiv nicht zu empfehlen. Schlechter Service. Zu laute Hip Hop Musik. Schmeckt nicht besonders gut. Sogar der Sushi Koch hat mir den Teller auf den Tisch geknallt. Was soll das?

Disappointed once again. Wasabi and soy sauce are never included with sushi deliveries, so if you forget to add them (which costs extra for whatever reason) your meal is ruined. Some things on the menu are plain bad or bland and very different from what they look like in the pictures. Items are overpriced, for instance the dorayaki pancake is just a YO! rebranded item that you can get at Asda for less than half the price. Considering the huge mark up, you would expect essential things that cost virtually nothing (namely wasabi and soy sauce) to be added out of courtesy. Dining here is a bit nicer, that is if your phone has reception or their Wi-Fi works. Wouldn't recommend.

Well it's not a good review unfortunately. I find the use your phone to order very impersonal and it's hard to ask members of staff questions regarding certain dishes. Also it's not really recommended to take children or families more of a date place. After 30 minutes of being seated we could not decide on what to order nor could we ask the staff questions about a meal for a child. I wouldn't recommend this location.

Nice atmosphere and unique experience with conveyor belt delivery but really expensive for the quantity of food provided it was good quality.

Excellent choice for a health way of going out to dinner. Service is quick and payment can be done through your mobile which removes the time to wait for you bill.

I must say it was very disappointing. Unprofessional staff didn’t even bothered to bring us menu. Soy sauce dishes was dirty and teriyaki chicken ramen was too salty and my friend had to look for a chicken in her bowl. Salmon selection for two wasn’t as in picture. What a shame. Will never go back.

Food is still decent quality, but the conveyor belt now only delivers your food after you’ve ordered it which is totally pointless. Having loads of plates coming round on the belt was great because you could pick something impulsively, see a few dishes before deciding etc and it was kind of fun. Won’t return unless they change it back.

Great idea having tech for order. Too bad the tech doesn’t work. After several attempts gave up and left restaurant. Staff didn’t care and couldn’t be bothered. Lots of tables with food waste and dishes not cleaned up. Overall poor service except for helping the deliveroo drivers

Trying to stay cheap and give an impersonal service post Covid with a DIY ordering system and woe betide! anyway who wants to deal with a human being or not create a profile on their website. The little interaction when being shown to a table was done by someone super rude and disengaged. There are better options in Union Square.

No chopsticks included in the bag nor even a sachet of sauce or a napkin, and the sushi itself was disappointing. Felt like it was chucked together without care and it tasted stale. It wasn't enjoyable I feel like I wasted my money. Delivery was quick though I can't fault that

It's alright, you order everything through a QR code and you can add discounts if you have a blue light card etc. It's changed since covid so your order goes round on the conveyor belt and stops where you're sitting unlike before where you would just pick items off the belt.

Came in with 2people and were told that there are no open spaces and that we could order for takeaway. While we were ordering, two more groups came in(who also didn't book a table in advance) and were immediately seated.

App was slow... Vegan volcano sushi was delicious!

Nice sushi as usual. I miss the conveyor full of tempting dishes, and while the online ordering works efficiently, I miss the human touch of actually taking to the staff. Still love the endless miso soup, and the (new?) tuna and avocado is very tasty.

The new system where you have to order on an app sucks, bring back the train! Total disadvantage for older people; food wasn’t up to standard either, won’t be going back.

Good food but nae a big fan of the new online ordering system. Still prefer an old skool menu. 😉😎

The food is ok, really not the gastronomic experience that it would have once been considered. Getting your food delivered on a conveyor belt is completely missing the point of choosing the food as it's on the conveyor. I don't think Yo Sushi will be with us much longer, the price Vs quality on offer won't survive 2023, the novelty conveyor system doesn't add any value now.

I love sushi but being back after months, I was disappointed. Food was nice, but, no excitement, no water offered, everything has to be booked and paid prior eating. I loved the selection of food going by on belt and just take what I wished. Now? Empty belt and food only one selected to your table. I understand the new era of shopping, hands free and hygiene but common. You go to restaurants to interact, talk, taste....I am sorry this kind of dining is not for me. Yeah and one more thing. I had gift card for yo! But wasn't accepted although with logo on card and topped up. So over all experience is really low because of these little things. Once again, I couldn't fault the food.

Was there last night and the place was a little run down the portion sizes are smaller and the prices are up sushi still ok but it’s lost it’s charm will be going to sushi box from now on . So I say farewell to yo sushi

Terrible experience and very unfortunate it was my sons birthday treat. Order arrived more than an hour late. Both chicken katsus were cold, not even lukewarm. The prawn iso was disappointing - 4/8 rolls were perfect but 4 of them were the very end of the prawn so tiny end piece and even had a piece of tail still attached 🤢 Expensive for my son to enjoy only a portion of avocado maki.

Green tea was cold, no napkins, average food.

The hours posted here are wrong. They are NOT open for dinner. I used the request form and asked them the correct the hours listed here, but they changed them right back. Don't go here for dinner - they're probably already closed.

Yo sushi has changed a lot! There were less pieces in the sushi platter than usual and they forgot our gyozas and ramen leaving us and our guest hungry. Very disappointed. There is a lot of competition around and I'm definitely not ordering from them again!
