Very, very, very slow service and if that wasn't bad enough there was no interest in the customers at all! It wasn't busy either. Food was overcooked and bland. The calamari was rubbery and bland. The duo of Pork was barely edible and the sea bass was supermarket bought fillets that were again, overcooked and ridiculously small. 5.85 for a side of Asparagus, you guessed it, overcooked and bland and 4 tips was all we got. Massively overpriced. No staff checked wether we were happy with our food, no apologies for forgetting parts of our order and 145 quid down the drain. Tried talking to staff about these issues but they're not interested.

I booked a table at The Midland in Marple Bridge for Mother’s Day, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. The setting is warm and inviting, with a charming riverside location that adds to the atmosphere. The food was outstanding—beautifully cooked, well-presented, and full of flavour. Every dish was prepared with care, and you could tell that the kitchen takes real pride in what they serve. The menu had a great variety, ensuring there was something for everyone, and each plate delivered on taste and quality. However, what really made the experience special was the service—particularly Izzy, who went above and beyond to make the meal memorable. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect for us. Her warm personality and professionalism added a personal touch that made all the difference. Overall, The Midland provided an exceptional dining experience—delicious food, a lovely atmosphere, and truly fantastic service. It was the perfect place to celebrate Mother’s Day, and we’ll definitely be returning. Highly recommended!

I really like the midland but the vegan options are very poor. One option of pea and asparagus risotto on the main menu, which I didn’t fancy so ended up having chips and side salad for dinner. It was very expensive for basically a cup of chips and a tiny bowl of salad. I had to have something to eat when I got home which kind of defeats the point of going out. Won’t be having a meal here again

Food was overpriced and nothing special. Nice area though and ok to have a bit of refreshment if you've had a long walk beforehand. But that was just my experience.

Goodbye to my favorite burger from my favorite place. I will always remember you with your delicious blue cabbage and blue cabbage slaw. I will cherish your taste forever. But now… what I just tried is nothing like what I had before. This is a great loss for me. I’m in pain, I’m crying. Now there’s some strange ginger instead, and the burger has become much drier. It used to be so much juicier. Goodbye. I guess we’ll never meet again.

The service from Megan and Izzy was excellent throughout. Izzy was our server and was polite and attentive throughout, making sure everything was okay. Whilst Megan served our drinks and checked up on our table multiple times to ensure we were happy with our drinks and food. Great service and food was amazing as always.

Booked a table for 4 people for NYE and had a great meal. It was a set menu which we all really enjoyed starters, mains and deserts. The slow cooked pork belly was very tasty and scallops cooked perfectly. Highly recommend.

The service, food and wine on nye were incredible. Had the salmon, scallops, chateaubriand for 2, poached pear and pineapple dome. It was the highlight of the night: we can’t stop talking about it!

Absolutely superb christmas day … loved it to bits!

Went for a Christmas eve dinner and it didn't disappoint. The food eas very tasty, and I highly recommend the bread portion. The sea bass was very tasty and I just loved the white chocolate crème brullee. The service was spot on. Recommend.

The tables in the bar was dirty and required cleaning after someone had used them.

I recently visited and enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch in the bar area. The pork belly was cooked to perfection and the bottomless gravy made the meal! Will be visiting again soon.

The Midland hotel is very dark, so not at all cosy. I ordered the steak pie and was disappointed, as there was a fair amount of gristle in the steak and the gravy was tasteless however the pastry was gorgeous.

Exceptional service and beautiful food, we all had starters and for main fillet and rib eye steak! The best steaks we have had in a long time! It was my sons 19th birthday and he loved the food, cocktails were to.die for!

We like the ambience, and the food is always good. It’s a great place to go with family or a group as it is busy. The staff are always friendly. Our waitress was very good. It would be nice if more staff could be employed ( I know this is difficult after Brexit) as the staff are often run off their feet, and things like clearing tables take longer.

Sunday roasts were sold outd wasnt impressed with rest of the menu.

Lots of things done really well but a couple of annoying detractors. The WIFI (there’s no mobile signal inside) needs an individual password so you have to invent one that passes their “strong password” check. They must have an amazing juicy database of lots of emails and default passwords hackers would probably be able to get fairly easily. Second the menu prices don’t include VAT so splitting the bill calculations are annoying.

The front of house staff were lovely, very efficient, and personable. It would be nice to have early diners meal deals Mon - Fri

We had a delicious meal with our two grandchildren . They both have amazing appetites and love being taken to the Midland. The staff are are unfailingly eager to help and make sure your visit is a very pleasant experience. Today we were looked after by Abbie, Amy and Katie. Delightful service. My grandson was very appreciative of his giant steak and my granddaughter tucked into a Dirty burgher, which she highly recommends. I was disappointed to see the nourish bowl has disappeared from the menu , but my sea bass was delicious.

We've been to the Midland many times and we've never had a bad meal there. Yesterday's visit was no exception. We went as a party of four and we enjoyed our main dishes and drinks. The servers were fairly attentive and we had an enjoyable evening all round.

Comfortable, smart and cosy restaurant decor. Friendly and attentive staff. Lovely food with imaginative options, a cut above most pub restaurants.

We loved the food and the place itself but it was incredibly noisy. We struggled to hear each other. Perhaps some absorbent materials could be used on the wall and the ceiling. The food was enjoyable ( although the salmon portion was tiny but our growing teen had a starter to add calories ) and the staff was very attentive to dietary requirements

We enjoyed a lovely visit to the Midland for a Sunday dinner. The food was fantastic and Issy’s service was also fab.

If I'm honest, I think 3* is being generous for the prices charged. We went for lunch and had the set menu. The starters were pretty good (although I'd question why every item, apart from the soup, has alcohol in it?!). We then had a steak sandwich and the hummus/veg sandwich... they are served on huge chunks of focaccia that suck out any moisture in the food. It's never a good thing to have a 50:1 ratio of bread to sandwich filling! Maybe we chose badly and the other mains that didn't come with a block of sponge-like bread might have been more better.

Visited the Midland Hotel today for a Sunday Roast, and it did not disappoint... thank tou chefs! The servers provided excellent service from start to finish. Highly recommend visiting. We will be back.

It is always lovely to visit the Midland. The food and welcome were great. Clean tables clearly reserved for our booking. The only problem seemed to be the lack of staff. They were clearly run off their feet but all were so cheerful and happy to help.

Food was lovely and the service was great would definitely recommend and will be coming back soon

We stopped in for lunch and were served by Amy and Connor who were pleasant and helpful without being "in our faces". Our drinks and meals arrived within a reasonable period of times and were tasty and nicely presented. All in all, a pleasant experience and very nice lunch.

This was my first visit to the Midland, why on earth have I never done it before. The dining area is lovely and the service is excellent. All the staff are clearly well trained and present with a friendly smile and warm welcome. A special mention goes to "Abbie B". The food, environment and meeting with old friends made for an excellent.

had the cheese burger and it was not very good. Stodgy and tough, it felt more like a frozen burger than cooked from fresh beef. Service was great but was let down by the food.

Great food and excellent service. We were running late and after we rang our table was kept for us.

What’s disappointing experience. We came here last month and the food was lovely. This time the salad was far from the standard previously served. My husband’s fish was minuscule compared to that on previous visits. This is not a reflection of the courteous staff, but will not be recommending this to my friends and family.

Great service,the manager is always excellent,despite how busy the restaurant is they always accomodate us in the quietest part of the restaurant for my little one who is autistic

Very slow on food. 30 mins for 2 burgers fish and chips and kids’ chicken strips. When questioned, we were told they had many orders to process. Food was ho-hum when it came. No knifes and forks and again when asked, very shirty response. Mayonnaise and ketchup took another 10 mins to arrive. Overall service needs a serious shake up. Wanted to go here for a long time. Doubt I’ll be rushing back.

We visited as a group of 8 ladies for the Bottomless Bubbles offer. We had a delicious 2 course meal and the cocktails were excellent! Service was great and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend.

We had a good time at the Midlands hotel. The steak was sadly a slight letdown as it was premiumly priced but was fatty and not the best. We ordered a second starter for the table which came out smaller than the first. Both knocked off a point. The staff were lovely and the remaining seven dishes all received positive feedback.

A well-appointed establishment in an attractive location. Our group were served delicious food by pleasant staff. However, those who chose from the Lite Bites menu found the portions rather meagre.

Everything apart from my ribeye steak which was the fattiest,grisly and chewy steak I have ever had, it was very bad!

Only had drinks...service and ambience all good.... Is it a bit too expensive though 🤷🏼‍♂️

We visited for a friends birthday and weren’t disappointed. The main courses were fabulous. They had no lemon tart nor trio of puddings so I didn’t have dessert. It was a Tuesday and I knew it wouldn’t be rammed but it was quite quiet. Service from James and Abbie was excellent. Will definitely be returning.
