Very average food and service was painfully slow… no check backs on the table and had to wait an age for basic requests such as a side plate. I ordered fish and chips. The fish was good but the chips were stone cold. No staff any where to be seen to ask for assistance. It’s like a posh meal in a motorway service station. Would not return, which is a shame as it has potential and obviously other guests have has much better experiences.

Very disappointing meal. Overcooked and underseasoned scallops, which were clearly not fresh. Followed by main courses that had been held under a heat lamp for so long that any trace of moisture had disappeared. Upon complaining I was told that this was how the Chef had intended the dish to be presented. If the Chef thinks that cremating black pudding is the best way to serve it, I suggest he is shown the door. This was chain-pub cooking at restaurant prices. Modern-Scottish cuisine deserves better than this weak effort.

Fantastic food, drinks and service in a nice cosy booth for a special birthday celebration. We're both gluten free and their gf menu was more than accommodating, staff were well trained explaining the options. The food was delicious and portions just right, salads and fish / scallops all beautifully fresh. Would totally recommend, I was also pleasantly surprised at the final bill. We'll not wait another year to return.

Had dinner here for my girlfriend’s birthday. We both agreed it was possibly the best dinner we’d had for a long time. We had the steak and sausage pie and the panko crusted buttermilk chicken burger. Really enjoyed and got amazing service. Caitlin was great! They then organised for a birthday message on our desert with a candle. Can’t thank them enough. Would really recommend!

Came for a celebration dinner but was left feeling very disappointed. Scallop starter was nice but cold (and £18!). Mushroom and toast starter was nice. Steak pie was awful, pastry was raw as others have said. Balmoral chicken was okay but still was the most flavourless Balmoral chicken I've ever tasted. Server didn't come once to ask how the food was and didn't even ask when clearing away the plates (which showed most of the steak pie untouched) The servers seemed rushed off their feet. And the whole place was like a chain pub but with high end prices. Bill for this experience was over £80, food definitely wasn't worth that.

I was a walk in. No problem to these folk. I had the veggie soup - simply beautiful. Probably a whole meal for some. For the main I had the Sunday beef roast. Outstanding. A good ‘man’ size serving with yorkshire pudding, veggies and roast potatoes. I even had the gravy and I don’t like gravy. For the true Scot, there was a side dish of macaroni cheese to top it off. Get here and support this restaurant highly recommended.

Looking for a place that served traditional food and found this restaurant, so read the reviews they seemed ok and booked a table early evening, got there and we were seated close to the door so that every time someone came in or out we got a nice cold blast to the point that I put my jacket back on. Anyways we ordered the food, the service was prompt but my starter wasn't the best it was the black pudding fritter and it was so oily that when you cut it there was a pool of oil and the poached egg was just a solid ball, so onto the main course which was meant to be Balmoral chicken now this was really bad, first off the chicken was dry and hard, the sauce was tasteless and bland, there was no bacon wrapped around the chicken either, the dauphinise potato was again bland, tasteless and barely warm, l left most of it, now perhaps if you are a foreign tourist who is not par fai with British cuisine you would find it acceptable but I have had the same dish many times and this one was one of the poorest ever, we won't be returning, we shall leave it for the poor unsuspecting tourist who thinks they're going to get a taste of Scotland which unfortunately they won't

Very disappointing. Place is lovely with a good busy buzz however the place is let down by the food and lackluster service. The scallop starter at nearly 20 quid was lovely so we'll cooked and presented the haggis needs and tatties starter was a let down due to the tasteless sauce. Absolutely no flavour to it. Mains fish and chips fine steak and sausage pie very salty with four measly bits of steak and lots of tiny bits of cheap sausage and the seasonal veg looked like it had been made thre or four seasons ago. Service very lack lustre no check backs to see if everything was OK or even when clearing starters no comment of was everything OK. Had ordered a bottle of wine and the waiter brought ot over and plonked it down saying nothing not offering to pour it or anything. Not to be a snob but a place like that needs to up its service game. After the maims were delivered didn't see a server again until they were clearing the mains away most of mine uneaten. Not a word about it. Asked for the bill and when it came the server did ask if everything was alright and I said about the food issues and all I got was oh I'll tell the kitchen. Then to top it off looked at the bill and there was a ten percent service charge added on now for large groups of say 6 or more I am fine with a service charge but for a label of two not on and the service wasn't that great that they didn't actually deserve a tip and I will always tip good service if I get it. Need some staff training on the basics and up the food game. Wouldn't recommend the 3 stars for food are purely on the one starter that was well worth the expensive price for it. Also at the end on leaving the waiter said goodbye with the phrase cheers lads! Now we are both I'd say at least ten years older than the server and the type of place this is not a very professional way to say goodbye and thanks for visiting

Diet coke arrived flat, sent it back and the next one wasn't much better Got the black pudding croquettes which were very nice We got the garlic chicken and Balmoral chicken mains, both lacked sauce. There was just enough for the chicken but not enough for the accompaniments so the veg was a bit sad Got the apple pie and cranachan for dessert. The apple pie had sultanas in it which I don't like and doesn't mention on the menu- I picked them out of half of my slice before I got bored- but the ice cream was nice The cranachan was all cream and sauce, there didn't appear to be any actual raspberries in it and it lacked oats Altogether for a birthday meal that cost just over £100 we were disappointed

We fancied somewhere with a good choice of menu, but with some smaller options as a couple of our party had eaten too much at lunch! This place was perfect. I really enjoyed the fries topped with haggis and whisky sauce, perfect sized portion. The veggie lasagne was nice but a tiny bit too sweet, and the Teriaki salmon was delightful. For mains I chose fish and chips, and the batter on fish at first sight looked crispy but was actually very soggy underneath and chips were really poor quality frozen. During our recent visit to Glasgow, we had the pleasure of dining at Mharsanta, and it was truly an exceptional experience. We arrived on a bank holiday evening, and to our delight, the restaurant had a cozy, quiet atmosphere that made for a perfect setting. The service was outstanding, going above and beyond our expectations. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, offering excellent recommendations without being intrusive. The highlight of the evening was, of course, the food. My wife ordered the fish (bass), which was beautifully cooked and bursting with flavor, while I enjoyed the Balmoral chicken - chicken breast stuffed with haggis. Both dishes were simply amazing—perfectly seasoned and presented. We also indulged in Cranachan for dessert, a Scottish delicacy we hadn't tried before. It was the perfect sweet ending to our meal, rich and satisfying without being overly heavy. The selection of Scotch whisky was impressive, offering a range of choices that will surely delight any whisky enthusiast. Overall, our experience at Mharsanta was one of the best dining experiences we've had. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a warm atmosphere makes it a must-visit in Glasgow. Mharsanta was our last dinner stop in Scotland after two weeks of eating and exploring our way through the country. It was recommended by a local. Management fit us in, citing a need for the table in one hour since we didn’t have a reservation. We ordered our last Haggis, Neeps & Tatties which were the best we had on our trip with an upscale presentation along with a Haggis Scotch Egg. It was thankfully not dry as some were on our trip. Unfortunately, they rushed cooking my steak pie and the undercrust was raw. They corrected their mistake with a lovely puffy crust with tender beef served with chips and mixed vegetables. However, see from the “First try” and “Corrected” photos the inconsistency with chips and veggie portions. My husband’s dish was the winner of the two entrees in terms of flavor and presentation. The Chicken Balmoral was a haggis-stuffed chicken breast wrapped in pancetta with whisky sauce and vegetables. Needless to say, we were not out within an hour due to waiting on a second steak pie. We had gin and whisky from the bar so I can’t speak to their cocktails. We didn’t have time for dessert. However, management graciously continued to serve us well and also removed the beef pie from our bill. We thought the prices were reasonable.

Despite having booked there seemed to be a delay on arrival of finding our booking. Then there was a delay in taking a drinks order. We ordered the steak board to share, an expensive meal. After it had arrived from the kitchen it sat for approx 5 mins next to the service hatch whilst the server decided our table for 2 was too small for this & moved us. Surely this should have been done in advance. The meal was nice but should have been warmer.

My husband had the daily soup and mussels and the mussels were in a huge pot. He loved it! I had goat cheese croquettes and the steak pie - both were lovely. Our friends had soups and scallops, which they were happy with. If you’re looking for a low key Scottish restaurant with great service, plenty of space and good food (with nice music in the background), this is your spot! We will definitely bring people here to try Scottish food :)

We had a wonderful dinner here. The food was amazing, the service was first class and the standard were just lovely. We also had cocktails, they made one especially for me and it was delicious. We will definitely return

Was recommended we try this place by a friend and we were not disappointed. Nice atmosphere, not too busy when we were there. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent and my son particularly enjoyed the irn bru cheesecake! Will go back. Only downside is it's extremely difficult to find a parking space nearby and you have to go round and round the one way system but thats not the restaurants fault per say. Just discourages people from further afield.

I was given a virgin experience voucher for steak seafood and wine for my birthday. The restaurant was quiet and service was very attentive. I must say this was definitely a lovely experience and a very nice gift. We chose the Merlot which was really nice and flavourful and complemented the steak very well. We chose the 10oz ribeye steak which was juicy, seasoned very well and cooked to perfection. 3 juicy prawns accompanied this along with chips and a rocket salad with tomatoes on the vine and grana padano cheese. We finished with a blueberry cheesecake to share as a sweet treat. Loved the Scottish music playing in the background and the restaurant was spotlessly clean. Highly recommend

I visited the restaurant last Sunday for the roast, and it was so good I went back again the next night for dinner. Not only the best meals I had in Glasgow, but the best of any meals I had in the UK for two weeks. The Sunday roast is highly recommended, as well as the cocktails and any of the regular menu! I was sat on the patio, where I think service was a little slower, but all staff were really friendly.

Visited with family when we were out in Glasgow. Starters of haggis neeps and tatties were delicious and filling. Mains of steak and sausage pie and chicken burgers were excellent and again very filling. Having checked previous reviews about the sirloin steak I was a little wary but decided to give it a try. The steak looked OK but was very dry and very chewy whilst the peppercorn sauce was quite bland for my taste. Would definitely not order again. However the rest of the meals were said to be delicious so may visit again but I will definitely not be ordering the sirloin.

Booked here for the good reviews. Turns out they forgot 2 of our meals so we're all sat here waiting for them. Also, the food that did come is pretty cold and the waiting is obviously not making anything warmer. Not coming back. Edit: lowering the service points cause now they're taking even longer to bring the second round of drinks... Edit 2: at least they gave us a generous discount, so putting service stars up again

Had the opportunity to visit and eat at this restaurant as part of a Globus Bus tour through Scotland on June 8th. This was the best meal of the week for both my wife and I. The service and food quality was excellent and I would highly recommend this place for a fabulous meal.

Such a fabulous place. The food was exactly what we wanted when we requested Scottish food. So delicious, that we returned the second time in only 4 days. The staff were so kind and helpful. The first visit I made a reservation. Thankfully because the place is usually very full. The second time I called, I was late in reserving because they were almost to full capacity. They remembered who I was and seated my group in a short time. Definitely!! A must to try. The potpies are scrumptious!!

Was welcomed by a young student type person, ordered from the 2 course menu, i had fish n chips,my partner had steak pie.The food certainly wasn't as described, freshly landed Scottish fish n chips. In fact the thick cut chips were cooked from frozen and definitely not cut on the premises(disgusting)fish covered in a strange batter, not very good.If your looking for quality and value AVOID this place.

Nice dishes and friendly staff. The broth of the mussels was so delicious that we had to ask the waiter to get a container for us so we could take the unfinished home. Will come back again in September with my friends!

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Special mention to our server Georgee, she is a real credit to the business.
