amazing staff prefect and very hospitable fantastic food everything wonderful I will come back again I recommend this place

All food was lovely. Found through trip advisor rating and didn’t disappoint. Great service and atmosphere despite being only ones eating. Good value.

Food nice, I work in Borough every few weeks and have always been put off by gangs of men sat outside this place, today I braved it and walked past around 8 men all smoking and staring at me. The food was good, However I felt very uncomfortable with the 3 tables of smoking men staring at me eating alone. Sadly I wouldn’t return or recommend eating here due to the uncomfortable intimidating environment at the front.

I see some people complaining about the entrance which is ridiculous. Groups of men socialising is not offensive. We've been here twice now and the staff are incredibly friendly and professional. The atmosphere is good and the food is amazing. We will be coming back here often, thanks for having us!

After fancying trying out this place but being put off by the front of the restaurant which is basically a tent full of men smoking and sharing a coffee, I finally gave it a go. We got the special grill for 2 and it was fantastic. I think the owner should look into the front of the restaurant I am sure there are many others who are put off giving it a try due to the intimidating nature of the clientele sat outside.

Visited for lunch on a Saturday, the 2 of us ordered the meze mixed grill to share, the food was all really tasty, each part of the mixed grill is excellent, especially the adana kofte, the loukaniko sausage, the gyros and the chips. Also a very substantial quantity of food, we gave it a good try but couldn't finish it all. The only let down has been unfortunately consistent over the last few times we've been here, to enter the otherwise charming restaurant you need to pass through a plastic tent kind of structure which on the last 2 occasions has been filled with groups of men who aren't dining, just sitting at the entrance chain smoking. Having to pass through this smoky haze to enter or leave isn't great, especially since the plastic tent is contained these guys are basically hot boxing an enclosed area. If this doesn't bother you then I highly recommend this place but I could see this presenting a rather grim and unwelcoming atmosphere for some diners, especially those with young children.

First time we have been here. Nice decor and plenty of room. We were out celebrating my birthday and our anniversary and my wife mentioned it to our waiter. Starters were served quickly, they were a good size and very tasty. Our main meals were lovely and because of their size we couldn't finish everything. When we finished and asked for the bill, the lights were turned low and the waiter brought us a dessert with a birthday candle while the music had changed to Happy Birthday. A lovely night and at a very very good price.

Called for lunch on Saturday afternoon, we were the only customers in at the time but received a friendly welcome when we arrived. Shared the mixed grill for 2 which has a great variety and quantity of food, all the meats were nicely cooked and the chips were excellent, also nice to see loukaniko sausage included with it, it's a personal favourite and I've not seen it included in meze sharing plates before. We can see why this place is rated so highly on here and are likely to return before too long.

Came tonight without booking. The outside didn’t look particularly inviting but we decided to give it a try. The restaurant was quiet but omg the service was impeccable. Shannon was our server and she was everything you would want in a server, polite, friendly, unobtrusive and there if you need anything . The food was unreal, we got the starter for 2 and also the main for 2 and both were absolutely beautiful. Can not fault the price neither, 4 rakis, a bottle of wine and the starter and main course came to £75. Would definitely recommend coming here and we will be coming back !!!!

Called in on a whim this evening and enjoyed a delicious meal with my wife. The wait staff were polite and unobtrusive and the ambience was great. The food was out of this world- hummus, Greek salads, kebab skewers and grilled aubergine and halloumi. We shared both the menu and pictures of the food with a Greek friend and she said it reminded her of home. Drinks and 2 courses for 2 people at less than £50 too. Go there and eat Greek!

Awful turkish food needs to be more authentic rather than your local sharwama shop absolutely disappointed

Went yesterday evening and had a wonderful time. Staff were attentive friendly and looked after us wonderfully. The food was absolutely delightful and I would highly recommend this wonderful little gem of a place.

We found this place by chance and initially just stopped for a drink, but it was so chill we decided to stay for dinner. We're a family of four. Unlike in some bars the kids were made very welcome here. Atmosphere was super relaxed, staff were awesome, and the food was out of this world. Absolutely spot on. Will definitely go again.

From the minute we stepped through the door I knew this was going to be good. Really lovely staff and a great atmosphere. We were a group of 12 and every single one of us commented on the quality of their meal and how tasty our they were. The staff were in the back ground but very attentive and at the end of our meal we were all given a limoncello AND olives etc. Amazing night.

We were recommended to try this restaurant and we were not disappointed. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome and it felt as though we had been regulars for years. The food was first class and the service was just as good. The whole evening was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and we will be coming back soon.

Second visit to Meze. Food is beautiful. Large portions and very reasonably priced. The lady serving was an absolute delight!

Should of kept to the original menu and recipes if you want my honest opinion. I miss the Turkish bread, the humus tasted too lemony & I miss the lahmacun and falafel and the rice tastes completely different. The garlic sauce has changed and no mint dip for the lamb.... I hate complaining but It’s changed massively.

The food in here is amazing! Gyros was lovely, staff are lovely, pleasant and attention to detail is excellent.. All COVID safety in place too, would highly recommend.

When the meze reopened for take away after closing due to covid we were really excited to try their food. We ordered 1 kids spaghetti 1 kids nuggets and the mixed combo for 2. The food was ordered and ready within 45 minutes for collection. The food was hot when we got home, my 2 kids really enjoyed their food but me and my partner had some issues with the mixed combo, the Adana lamb kebab was really nice as were the spiced lamb chops the the chicken kebab and chicken wings were also very nice but tiny 4 little cubes of chicken and four of the smallest wings I’ve ever seen. The steak was so tough we didn’t eat it and the 2 burger patties seemed out of place. The home made chips were lovely and the salad crisp and fresh. We really enjoyed what we ate and will try again soon but will probably try some thing different as I don’t think the combo box was worth what we paid.

We came for food a few weeks ago, late on a Saturday night after a visit to the cinema. We had booked a table owing to the good reviews on here and we weren't disappointed....the food was amazing! We cant wait to come back!!

So im one for turkish food and i am in love with the food from here.Freshly made bread always.I always order the Penne Pollo with a side of hallumi fries and its just unreal.And you need to go during 12-5pm, Starter and a main for just £7.95! Even better They do kids meals tooAbsolute authentic turkish food Love it Thank you will definatly be back

Went to the Meze Lounge as a last minute thing as we have been a few times before. As usual, the service was excellent and the food was fantastic. We had the Mixed Meze for two people and the flavours were just beautiful. The menu said you would not be disappointed and we weren't. A lot of food for two people and a great price too.I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who loves Turkish food.

Family of six fussy eaters, we booked a table on the spur of the moment and so glad we did. First time we have eaten here and will be returning. The Chicken and mixed kebabs were all freshly cooked and the meat was of good quality. The price is reasonable and along with the customer service I would highly recommend this restaurant for families and couples. They even picked up on it being my birthday without being told and came out with a cake and singing happy birthday, great service, we will be returning.

Different to the rest around this area food is high standards the only issue I will have is they need more high chairs we we arrived they didn’t have enough High chairs for the kids

Had a Friday night dinner at Meze lounge. Both of our food was amazing- super fresh and delicious! All of the staff were lovely and service was perfect. We will be back!

We have now been to Meze Lounge several times. One of the things we like about it is that it's great for sharing. On our last visit we shared adana kebab, chicken guvec and humous. I was so impressed with the chicken guvec that I tried to make it myself at home a couple of days later. it was a disaster! I'll be leaving it to the experts in future!.

We visited Middlesbrough from London for one day. Nice location. Foods are Halal. We really enjoyed our food. We ordered few starters and Adana Kebab, Which were really tasty. Service was excellent more than 5 *. Highly recommend to everyone. Keep it up👌

We found Meze Lounge on trip advisor. Located at one end of the street it would have been an establishment we would have walked past had we not been following directions. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, confident of the quality of its cuisine, not at all pushy and understated in terms of decoration. The food was great, generous, well cooked and very tasty.

I love Turkish food and have eaten at plenty of Turkish restaurants all over more so in London, but Meze Lounge's food tops all Turkish restaurants, the food is absolutely spot on, great service by friendly staff, great for all the family, as I'm vegetarian there is plenty for me to choose from. Great restaurant please don't change anything.

A lovely meal in a lovely setting with excellent service. A great choice on the menu for starters and main dishes. In fact, we had difficulty choosing our main courses as there was such a good for choice. All freshly prepared with fresh ingredients. The staff were helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Saw this place online and three of us decided to try it on a quiet Wednesday evening. From the outside it doesn’t look that inviting I would get rid of those blue tables and chairs, but inside great service and food. We ordered a range of starters the meatballs were delicious the other three we chose were not far behind all very nice. Main courses were well presented and very tasty nothing to say negative. Two of us had the Turkish rice pudding it’s served cold but very beautiful just like gran used to make years ago. Something different well worth a try and don’t be out of by appearances or it’s location

My family and I have always loved meze lounge so we decided to treat our friends to a meal here. They'd never ate Turkish food and were a little apprehensive but we bigged it up and said they'd love it. We ordered two of the sharing meat platters. We noticed they'd gone up in price but thought it doesn't matter there worth it. Oh dear how wrong we were. There was less meat than usual and the ribs were full of fat. I was very embarrassed as we'd said all night how much they'd love it. They barely ate anything and were left hungary. I don't know if there's a new chef or corners are being cut but this is definitely not the meze lounge of old. What a shame and sadly we won't go back

We have been dining here for many years, always a warm welcome from friendly staff, food is impeccable each and every visit, as is the cleanliness, the meze is our favourite place to eat out in Middlesbrough and never ever disappoints ! I highly recommend the mixed platter as my favourite but everything we have ever tried as always been top quality !

Thought we would give here a try ahead of our forthcoming holiday to Turkey and boy how we were surprised! I had chicken kebab and my husband had a mixed kebab, the meat was so nicely cooked and you could tell it was fresh, the service was second to none both the girls were very friendly and chatty and very knowledgable about the food, would highly recommend this lovely little restaurant.

The Meze Lounge serves up the most mouthwatering Turkish food. Their Ali Nazic kebabs are wonderful... accompanied by an original aubergine sauce. All their food is so fresh and cooked to perfection. The service is also great. They can't do enough to make you feel welcome. I just wish we could go there every week!

Beautiful food. We had hummus. Starter with warm fresh bread. And chicken and lamb kebab. With rice and salad. We’ve been numerous times and will allways come back Staff and owner really friendly made us welcome. Recommend the mix grill for 2. Also amazing!!

Not the best location - parking difficult as only on-street (was Good Friday early afternoon). Very good value - lots of it and really good quality meat.

I've eaten lunch here many times, sometimes from the main menu (the lamb chops are great) and usually from the lunch specials. The chicken soup is wonderful but I would recommend any of the starters. I had the penne piccante today and it is very tasty and filling. The kebabs and wraps are spot on. Friendly efficient staff serve food in a nice restaurant. One of my favourites!

We went on a weekday evening for dinner. Food was excellent. The Sucuk starter is especially good. Wide range of main courses to suit all tastes. Turkish coffee finished the meal off well. Service was good and the staff welcoming and chatty.

We have been going to Meze every few months over the last few years and it is in our opinion the best restaurant in Middlesbrough. The service is exceptional, the decor and ambiance are warm and relaxed and the food is just amazing. First choice every time.

Rolled up here on Saturday on our way back to York, no booking and majority of the tables occupied at 6.30pm but they were more than happy to accommodate the 3 of us if we could be finished by 8pm, result! So after a few recommendations to eat here whist working nearby on the Wilton site. we left far from disappointed after some fantastic food, great service and a lovely atmosphere. Nice but limited selection of bottled lagers and nothing was too much trouble, even sorting a mixed grill for 3 with the menu choice offering it for 2.

I've never been the type of person to leave a review for a restaurant but after visiting meze lounge I felt the need too! the food was brilliant the staff were friendly and we were made to feel very welcome, credit where credit is due me and a friend had the mix for 2 and it was cooked to perfection and couldn't move after I highly recommend this place to anyone who hasnt tried it before or anyone visiting the area! It's not the biggest place but like they say good things come in small packages

My family visited this restaurant and ordered the plate for 2 for £30.95 and it said underneath, 'you will not be disappointed' but we were unfortunately. It was not worth £30.95 at all in our opinion. The taste was not that good, there was not enough bread, the salad consisted of only leaves and the belly ribs of lamb were just bones and fat and not suitable at all and made plate look like there was a lot of meat but there wasn't. There was only 2 small pieces of adana kebab and I had to order 2 lots of bread and a portion of chips to satisfy us. Needless to say we will not be going again. The Persian restaurant is much better on same road.

The food that I received being gluten free was nice, the service was good, however when you are gluten free and permanently on a diet, when you go out for a meal why do restaurants take away food without substituting it. I ordered my food and was told the rice had gluten fair enough they would substitute with a large salad, ok, however the salad fit into my palm of my hand. My friend received bread, I did not, needless to say I left the restaurant feeling hungry. I did mention to the staff that there was not enough food on my plate and their response was to ignore the fact. I paid the same amount of money as my friend to have food taken off my plate with no reduction in price. I suggest they do not offer gluten free food if they cannot supply the same size meals as those without allergies.

Visited this place for a meal for two people the other night. The foot was outstanding and the service was just as good. I will definitely visit again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Meze Lounge to others.

Turkish food at its best . Great quality ingredients cooked to perfection. Waiting staff very helpful with recommending dishes , attentive without being over bearing. The restaurant has a good laid back atmosphere. I will be back for sure and I recommend this restaurant.

Visited by way of recommendation of a friend. Can understand the hype. Staff were friendly, service was quick considering everything is freshly made. A great experience all round and the chicken kebab is probably the best I’ve had.

Absolutely the tastiest most delicious Turkish food we’ve ever eaten in the UK. Bulcent and Deanna (the owners) are always wonderfully welcoming and ensure you’re well looked after without being overwhelming :). Their team follow the same ethos and the food is always incredibly tasty.

Visited the mezze lounge thrice over now found it to be a delight at all times, iskander kebab is excellent both ways, as is the sea bass, wonderful grilled great and great also. Very easy on the pocket too, was very busy on both a Monday early eve and a Wednesday some months later about 3:15. Seems to have been quieter when I've passed recently, hope they're been used because this place is a bit of a hidden treasure imvhawho.

Absolutely beautiful food, service, staff and restaurant. Everything is beautifully seasoned and I always go home feeling full. This place is my number one favourite restaurant and I’ll continue to come back. After bringing multiple friends and family here, never had one complaint, always a big thumbs up. Well done team Meze can’t wait to return yet again!

Food is well cooked and seasoned well and piping hot. Service is quick, efficient and the staff are polite. Background music is also Turkish, you can hear it but its not too loud. Well worth a visit.

Lovely meal as always. Popped in with no booking needed. Good was delicious. Starters we shared calamari and mini meze for one. Mains we had lamb musakka and lamb guvec. Everything was delicious.

Been coming here for a couple of years now , the staff are always very welcoming we always have the lunch time special , excellent value for money and lots of choice the Adana kebab one of our fav choices .

Its been 2yrs since I last visited, the decor has changed and the menu has altered a bit too. I had the chicken wrap which was delicious with sweet potatoes fries. The staff were very polite and helpful. The only reason its not a 5* is the cost of none alcoholic drink £2.50ish for 330ml for diluted juice and water and soft drinks is just way TOO much!

I visited here with my wife and was really impressed I found the service poor and the food average, not the usual flavours you would expect although the place was not terrible, I would defintly be willing to give it another go.

We were a party of 8 that visited on Saturday night - the place was busy, but the staff were excellent in relocating a few tables to fit us in. The starters were excellent, but the mixed platter for two was fantastic - a lot of food to eat, but we managed to get it all down. The kids had parmo's and all give the thumbs up.

This is probably the best restaurant in Middlesbrough, we as a family.and also with friends have eaten here on numerous occasions even twice in a week and will continue to do so...hidden gem??...this is it!!..we gae never had a bad meal here it is cooked to perfection everytime, chicken is always tender and flavoursome rice is some.of the best rice i have had..the bread is always warm and tastes fantastic.

Me and my sister were shopping felt a bit hungry we pooped into the meze lounge and got the afternoon special which was a hot or cold starter which we got the chicken soup to die for and lambmarcen again to die for all for 7.95 we will be back staff are very friendly and polite if you like Turkish food give it go you won’t be disappointed

The food is amazing and staff and attentive, polite and friendly. This is the second time I have visited this restaurant, the first time being for an anniversary and this time as a leaving event for my workplace. Everything has been magnificent both times.

I visited on a Tuesday evening so it was relatively quiet but had a really nice chilled atmosphere. The service was great and the food was fantastic. I had the chicken iskender which was the best meal I've had in a while. Will definitely recommend.

Visited once again for lunchtime special with family which included grandchildren,as usual the food was gorgeous from starter to main course,chicken Govec is to die for,the service and friendliness of Sophia was second to none as always,she is so professional in her job and her manners are really good and she’s great with the Kids. I enjoy tasting Turkish food. It was one of the delicious lahmacun I have ever tasted. Staff was friendly and he explained nicely what I asked on the menu. After the food I had baklava but it was not good as proper Turkish one. Thank you.

Went for son in law birthday midweek only our 5 people in so service was fast and freindly the platters served were delicious and plentiful everyone enjoyed food only complaint bottle of efes not same as turkish efes i found meze much better than last time i was in keep up the good standard of food and service

Booked a table for 2 for my husbands 40th. It was our first visit, we were hoping for authentic Turkish cuisine.... we were not disappointed! Staff were friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Service was swift. We’ve found a lot of “Turkish” restaurants don’t serve a lot of Turkish food but Meze Lounge had just what we wanted. Kofte, lahmacun and pide were spot on and the Turkish salad... I need to know the secret of the dressing!!! We paid the bill and went to leave but we’re ushered back to our seats to be presented with a slice of chocolate cake with a candle in... what a lovely touch! Barring a holiday to altinkum, this is the next best thing... we will definitely be back! Tesekkur ederim x
