A charming and cozy spot, perfect for a friendly gathering and enjoyable conversation. The hot chocolate was incredibly rich and flavorful, and the cream was thick and delicious.

Everything about this place was perfect. Service was brilliant. Our server was absolutely welcoming and friendly. Always smiling. The breakfast was lovely. The decorations of the cafe is lovely and calming. The toilets are clean. Just perfect. A very pleasant find. Would definitely recommend!

One of the best cafes in Cardiff for food and coffee. Great atmosphere, music, & warm lighting for studying or just catching up with friends. Friendly and efficient staff and plenty of comfortable seating inside with outdoor seating for those that prefer.

This is a wonderful cafe with such a warm welcome from the owner and staff. They serve delicious filling food and there is a wide variety of choices. A really wonderful cafe.

Metchys cafe and bar is a delightful gem! During the day, you can bask in the sun while enjoying a good book in their charming outdoor seating. As evening approaches you can unwind with a delicious cocktail. The menu features fantastic breakfasts and fresh panninis. The pancakes are may favourite, perfect for any time of day. What truly sets this place apart is the lovely staff, who go above and beyond to remember your regular orders, adding a personal touch to your experience. Highly recommend!

Found Metchy’s Cafe on Tripadvisor after staying overnight nearby and had a delicious breakfast and fabulous coffees. Couldn’t have been friendlier, really lovely cafe and will head here again if we’re in Cardiff.

A loyal customer for over 4 years and for good reason. Metch (the owner) has become a good friend over the years and he always delivers world class customer service along with top tier food and coffee. I highly recommend you visit and try his famous breakfasts!

Today I have just spoken to the staff here. I was told that the source of eggs are from a farm! No wonder why the eggs are so fresh. The staffs here are nice and the food is great. The portion is bigger than other restaurants. I usually order eggs on toast because the scramble egg is made quite soft and ‘juicy’. My friend usually orders full breakfast. Despite the portion is big, the hash brown is crispy but it is soft and smooth inside.

Ordered a Coke, a hot chocolate and a pizza to share. The hot chocolate was very nice, but the pizza was diabolical. We received the wrong pizza (which was partially cold), so sent it back and got the pizza we ordered. The base and toppings were hot but the tomato sauce and cheese were completely cold, so we had to send it back again and asked for a refund rather than attempting to eat the pizza again. It was very disappointing, especially considering the price (£12.50), which we were refunded. Many other items on the menu were also overpriced (e.g. a panini for £10). Will not be returning, even though the staff were friendly and apologised about the food.

A lovely place for a coffee or a bite to eat. Metchy's has a buzzing atmosphere and is always brimming with customers; students, families and professionals alike. The food is delicious and presented well, you can tell the chef puts a lot of passion and effort into his work.The coffee is rich and flavourful and served with a smile. I would certainly recommend this warm and welcoming cafe!

Few people can make a great espresso; Metchy's can! One of the best espresso's I have had. The owner-Metchy's- genuinely cares about the customer experience which is a rare feature in the service industry. Highly recommended!

One of the worst breakfasts I’ve ever had. £10 for this. A packet of ham on a cold muffin with a “poached egg” that was clearly hard boiled. Avoid at all costs. The restaurant owner should spend more time improving the quality of the food than they do replying to reviews on here.

Ordered a coffee to take out. Staff messed up and brought it in a glass to sit in. Once corrected, it was poured in a paper cup creating bland something that resembles a latte, a lid was closed and I was on my way. I really expecte them to redo the coffee bu that was it. Poor, poor effort

Completely pretentious £14 for a breakfast that is just pathetic. rock hard backon the owner walks about like he is in a night club floor was dirty and my table had food still from the last people. why an earth would you come here?? Vibe is un easy even weather spoons is better and that's saying something. Avoid save your ££

We rented an apartment around the corner and ate here every morning. The Full English was amazing value. The pancakes were so fluffy. Great coffee. Busy spot.

I went for breakfast with two of my friends, and I had the vegetarian breakfast, it was really tasty and perfectly cooked. (I always find with veggie options, it’s always either dry or overdone). Not here, they got it right. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. and I will definitely go back. It was really good food and caters for all. I would definitely recommend. Thank you Sima 👌🏼

I enjoyed the brownie that I shouldn't have had... it was super tasty. The hot chocolate was very good and the atmosphere was just right...a little bit of quiet respite from the rain and busy-ness going on outside. The server was very friendly.

Cute little place we went to for takeout coffee (lattes). The atmosphere inside is very cozy. They also have milk alternatives for my vegan friends!

Amazing service. Gentleman at front of house was a really nice guy. We had English breakfast which I really liked. I wasn’t fussed on the bacon but that was self preferences. The eggs Benedict with bacon was amazing. Sauce wasn’t as flavoursome but still good. They had a bueno latte which was beautiful as you’d expect! All round great place to have breakfast looking forward to going back.

Nice little student coffee shop close to the AHSSL library and Lidl. Had a coffee which was good as well as enjoyed the calm vibe of the cafe. The seating was comfortable although the coffee wasn't the best I've ever had. Will still continue to visit though!

Friendly place with a good atmosphere. Coffee was fab, my sandwich was OK but friends breakfast bap looked amazing.

Has to be said the food in this place is so fresh and beautifully tasting! Absolutely incredible place that serves all day breakfast things but also pizza and burgers. Even a cocktail at 2 for ten pound! Literally the best cafe! You have to go!

I had the full English breakfast and it was a good breakfast. With a cup of tea, it's £16 but it was a substantial meal, it was well-cooked and filling!

Nice people working there but not great value for money. £13 for a Full English is fine if the quality is great but it’s nothing special. Coffee quite dear too. All in all okay, but I’ve had better for less elsewhere. Seemed fairly busy though so must be doing something right.

Lovely little cafe. Went there with my ma for a little coffee break. Coffee was lovely and really well presented (people never say that about coffee) really good price wich proves coffee doesn't have to COSTAlot. Lovely staff and brilliant play list. Really nice place to be.

Excellent place for all purposes! Good drinks and burgers, the best espresso in the country to wake you and a great cappuccino to keep you going. Been coming here since 2021 and the quality’s only improved. 10/10!

oh my gosh. those lotus biscoff freak shakes are unbelievable. i just dusted the whole thing in about 5 mins and now got a breakfast baguette that never disappoints!! lovely service. fab food and shakes! love it

We came here for breakfast and it was so nice, there was so much choice and at such reasonable prices. It’s in a great location and the staff were friendly. They also have wifi, and breakfast until 4pm, so it’s great for students.
