Ordered a Coke, a hot chocolate and a pizza to share. The hot chocolate was very nice, but the pizza was diabolical. We received the wrong pizza (which was partially cold), so sent it back and got the pizza we ordered. The base and toppings were hot but the tomato sauce and cheese were completely cold, so we had to send it back again and asked for a refund rather than attempting to eat the pizza again. It was very disappointing, especially considering the price (£12.50), which we were refunded. Many other items on the menu were also overpriced (e.g. a panini for £10). Will not be returning, even though the staff were friendly and apologised about the food.

A lovely place for a coffee or a bite to eat. Metchy's has a buzzing atmosphere and is always brimming with customers; students, families and professionals alike. The food is delicious and presented well, you can tell the chef puts a lot of passion and effort into his work.The coffee is rich and flavourful and served with a smile. I would certainly recommend this warm and welcoming cafe!

I've visited here weekly for the last few months and always found the staff to be really helpful, great atmosphere, food and coffee are delicious and the portion sizes on the breakfasts are really generous. Would 100% recommend a visit. Thank you Metchys - I'll be back soon! xx

Few people can make a great espresso; Metchy's can! One of the best espresso's I have had. The owner-Metchy's- genuinely cares about the customer experience which is a rare feature in the service industry. Highly recommended!

My favourite cafe to come and study in. It's got a nice cozy vibe inside and all the staff are really friendly and sweet. The food is good and so are the drinks.

One of the worst breakfasts I’ve ever had. £10 for this. A packet of ham on a cold muffin with a “poached egg” that was clearly hard boiled. Avoid at all costs. The restaurant owner should spend more time improving the quality of the food than they do replying to reviews on here.

Overpriced, eggs were overcooked, would have been happy at wetherspoons prices but not at £15 for a meal and a coffee

Ordered a coffee to take out. Staff messed up and brought it in a glass to sit in. Once corrected, it was poured in a paper cup creating bland something that resembles a latte, a lid was closed and I was on my way. I really expecte them to redo the coffee bu that was it. Poor, poor effort

Completely pretentious £14 for a breakfast that is just pathetic. rock hard backon the owner walks about like he is in a night club floor was dirty and my table had food still from the last people. why an earth would you come here?? Vibe is un easy even weather spoons is better and that's saying something. Avoid save your ££

We rented an apartment around the corner and ate here every morning. The Full English was amazing value. The pancakes were so fluffy. Great coffee. Busy spot.

I went for breakfast with two of my friends, and I had the vegetarian breakfast, it was really tasty and perfectly cooked. (I always find with veggie options, it’s always either dry or overdone). Not here, they got it right. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. and I will definitely go back. It was really good food and caters for all. I would definitely recommend. Thank you Sima 👌🏼

Friendly little cafe, not quite what I was expecting - my coffee was fine, service friendly, prices seemed expensive.

I enjoyed the brownie that I shouldn't have had... it was super tasty. The hot chocolate was very good and the atmosphere was just right...a little bit of quiet respite from the rain and busy-ness going on outside. The server was very friendly.

Cute little place we went to for takeout coffee (lattes). The atmosphere inside is very cozy. They also have milk alternatives for my vegan friends!

Amazing service. Gentleman at front of house was a really nice guy. We had English breakfast which I really liked. I wasn’t fussed on the bacon but that was self preferences. The eggs Benedict with bacon was amazing. Sauce wasn’t as flavoursome but still good. They had a bueno latte which was beautiful as you’d expect! All round great place to have breakfast looking forward to going back.

Food is mediocre and overpriced. Staff treatment towards customers indifferent and rude.

Nice little student coffee shop close to the AHSSL library and Lidl. Had a coffee which was good as well as enjoyed the calm vibe of the cafe. The seating was comfortable although the coffee wasn't the best I've ever had. Will still continue to visit though!

Friendly place with a good atmosphere. Coffee was fab, my sandwich was OK but friends breakfast bap looked amazing.

been going here over 1 year with my bf and Metch the owner has always looked after us, great hospitality from all the staff. We even get free hash browns now and then

Has to be said the food in this place is so fresh and beautifully tasting! Absolutely incredible place that serves all day breakfast things but also pizza and burgers. Even a cocktail at 2 for ten pound! Literally the best cafe! You have to go!

I had the full English breakfast and it was a good breakfast. With a cup of tea, it's £16 but it was a substantial meal, it was well-cooked and filling!

Nice people working there but not great value for money. £13 for a Full English is fine if the quality is great but it’s nothing special. Coffee quite dear too. All in all okay, but I’ve had better for less elsewhere. Seemed fairly busy though so must be doing something right.

Lovely little cafe. Went there with my ma for a little coffee break. Coffee was lovely and really well presented (people never say that about coffee) really good price wich proves coffee doesn't have to COSTAlot. Lovely staff and brilliant play list. Really nice place to be.

Excellent place for all purposes! Good drinks and burgers, the best espresso in the country to wake you and a great cappuccino to keep you going. Been coming here since 2021 and the quality’s only improved. 10/10!

oh my gosh. those lotus biscoff freak shakes are unbelievable. i just dusted the whole thing in about 5 mins and now got a breakfast baguette that never disappoints!! lovely service. fab food and shakes! love it

We came here for breakfast and it was so nice, there was so much choice and at such reasonable prices. It’s in a great location and the staff were friendly. They also have wifi, and breakfast until 4pm, so it’s great for students.

What a find! We discovered this lovely, relaxed Turkish / Mediterranean-style cafe bar while in search of a pre-show supper before a visit to the nearby Sherman Theatre. We had absolutely delicious food (the mezze platter and a pizza) along with a glass of chilled Prosecco. The proprietor was very welcoming and we look forward to visiting again in the near future. Top marks and highly-recommended.

I came here based on other reviews, and the extensive vegan selection. Rude, awful service, no matter if the food is amazing, leaving on the verge of tears is not worth it. They were quite busy when I arrived, as could be expected. I had a heavy suitcase (coming from the train station) and the guy standing next to the door couldn't be bothered to open the door for me, he just watched me struggle with it. Upon entering, he told me they were full. I saw two tables opened, so enquired. He said they were booked for 8, I asked if I could just sit til then and try something small. He said no. I then asked if I could order something for takeaway, as I really wanted to try the food. At this point, he shouted at me that they are full. I was confused, as it clearly states here that they do takeaway. I assumed he mis-heard me, as being full has nothing to do with takeaway. And asked again, you don't do takeaway? He said no, and again shouted at me. I left with tears in my eyes. It's wonderful that you are busy and popular, congratulations. But there is NO excuse for treating people this way. Its very simple to politely explain that you are busy, to explain that perhaps your policies around takeaway have changed, or to suggest that someone make a booking and come back another time. Management here needs to assess the manners of their staff.

Best cafe in Cardiff, chips were hot and fresh. Literally perfect. Service was great again. Literally nothing wrong with this cafe. It’s everything you want in a cozy cafe.

The staff is always lovely! Always pop in here for hot drinks and they have a good amount of dairy alternatives. Food is lovely when I've stopped in as well, wish their menu was clearer on the takeaway options for food but that's the only complaint I have!

Watching the city bustle whilst drinking a iced latte and eating a sausage sandwich, was certainly a good hangover cure! Took a girl here and was surprised by the quick service and friendly host, would be a 5 out of 5 if the prices were slightly lower but everyones got to make there money! Overall a lovely place to enjoy some quality breakfast food or study with a coffee.

Gorgeous space and very warming. Fair pricing and excellent variety of products! Safe space and either a peaceful or vibrant atmosphere. There’s even live music occasionally!! Delicious food and drinks. Have been twice and will soon become a regular! Great for students!

If I could give it a lower rating, I would. I ordered the veggie breakfast which is arguably the worst one ive ever had. Mushrooms were tasteless, fried egg was burnt, beans were mediocre. Hash browns were okay though. Service was quick which explains why everything was done so sloppily. Restaurant had a nice ambiance but overall would not recommend.

Amazing place to spend time - really good food (especially the breakfast), and great atmosphere. Very friendly, so relaxing - and the biggest treat of all, it's paw-friendly. Will become a new regular haunt for us.
