Friendly helpful staff nice feel about the place

Lovely clean pub with friendly staff. Eaten here a few times whilst visiting yarmouth food is very good portion sizes are huge i do think the childrens menu is very over priced though £10 for a meal and a drink 🫣

We ate here a few times whilst on holiday, the food was excellent, tasty and hot, service great and a warm inviting atmosphere would highly recommend

I started this review with three stars and looked at the portions again and had to reduce to 2 starts. The food was just above average but not great value for money. The desserts were lovely. Given that I have two young children the fact that a children’s meal is £10 was beyond me. I was expecting something rather nice and/or appealing for that price point. However extreme disappointment came onto the table with a basic Mac and cheese my child could have put together. I must also add that the menu says meals for children under 12. The size of the portion is hardly enough for a hungry 3 year old. We ordered the children’s meals first at the bar. They took ages. Something that looks like it could be put together within minutes took over 20 to arrive. It was early lunch time and the place was virtually empty. Despite a waitress going over to another table to take their order. She never came to ours to take or order for adult meals. We ordered mains and desserts at the bar.

Great local for business or pleasure. All round I think that it's a fair price for the food and drink and I always leave feeling well fed. Great variety of daily specials. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't tried it.

We had scampi, chip, and peas. we got quite a lot and couldn't finish it, but it was a nice meal with wine, meals were 15.95 wine was 5.75 a medium glass.

Spend a lot of money here on a regular basis, however today the service from a member of bar staff was absolutely disgusting. I will reconsider this as my place to drink and eat. The food is the best in Great Yarmouth and both the hotel and the bar and restaurant are the best in Yarmouth. The lady behind the bar today acted like she did not want to be there and was disgustingly rude and miserable. Great venue, let down by one miserable woman, get another job if you don't enjoy it.

Just enjoyed a couple of drinks this afternoon. The first thing that caught my attention were the happy staff.The second was the cleanliness - no sticky tables and the toilets were spotless. A definite better place to go rather than some of the other grubby bars in the area.

Fast friendly service food was good and the drinks were reasonably priced definitely go again if in Great Yarmouth 😊

I recently visited Mermaid Bar with a friend, and what started as a promising evening quickly turned sour. We chose this pub specifically because we were looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a drink after a long walk with our dog. Unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. Upon entering the pub, we were greeted by a friendly bartender who promptly took our order. We got our drinks, found a comfortable spot, and settled in, expecting to relax and enjoy the evening. However, our relaxation was short-lived. After just a few minutes, another staff member approached us and informed us that dogs were not allowed inside the pub. This came as quite a surprise, as there were no visible signs indicating a no-dog policy, and we had already bought our drinks without any mention of this rule. We politely explained that we had just purchased our drinks and there was no prior warning, but the staff member was unyielding and insisted we leave the premises. This was extremely disappointing. We felt unwelcome and inconvenienced, as we were now forced to finish our drinks quickly and find another place to go. The lack of clear communication and the abrupt manner in which we were asked to leave left a sour taste in our mouths. While the pub itself has a charming atmosphere and the drinks were reasonably priced, the unhelpful and inflexible attitude of the staff regarding our dog overshadowed any positive aspects of our visit. Clear signage and better customer service could have easily prevented this unpleasant experience. In summary, if you’re planning to visit Mermaid Bar with your furry friend, be warned: despite the initial welcoming vibe, the pub is not dog-friendly and the staff's approach to enforcing this policy is far from accommodating. We won’t be returning anytime soon.

Dog friendly. Spacious place. Great little outside area which is a sun trap in the afternoons.

Beautiful place, and really enthusiastic servers. Fantastic pub food (big portions on the kids' meals) and nice music/seating all round.

Went to this pub on Sunday was served by the amazing Justin 👏 the best customer service I have ever had he went above and beyond 😀

Had the sea bass and noodles was terrific. Would highly recommend. Staff cheerful, always a good sign. And Toilet facilities of the highest standard

Food was so good, never even got a picture before hit my belly.

One of my regular haunts on a night out. Independent, clean & tidy, good selection of beers & spirits and good food all at reasonable prices with good, friendly staff and service. Always a friendly atmosphere, great location on a corner plot at the busy end of the main drag so if you just fancy a quiet pint, sit in the sun and watch the world go by it's a good spot. Overall I can thoroughly recommend it 👌

We had a prawn sandwich which came with salad and crisps, they were freshly made and was very nice. I did not think the price was dear ££. I would recommend going here

Twice in a week the meal ordered has not come with how menu describes it, never had problem before but this time so annoyed, that they haven't followed what I ordered off the menu. If I order a meal with sweet potato fries that's what I expect not chios, if I order sausage mash and peas with onion gravy that's what iexpect not sausage mashe broccoli and carrots(veg I don't like) and gravy that is not onion gravy. CHEFS Please follow menu if u have to change speak to customer don't just dish up what you want

Lovely food, friendly staff would highly recommend

Went for food and drinks. Food took over 45 mins to arrive. Carbonara from the specials board was dry and cold and garlic bread was missing, at £13.50 a dish you would expect better. Other meals were ok but expensive for what they were. Ordered cocktails at the bar but bartender forgot them, took over 20 mins for them to arrive. Will not be keen to go back anytime soon

Well, What can I find wrong about this pub? NOTHING! The food was brilliant. The Staff was friendly, helpful and very nice. The Drinks was amazing. It had a fantastic atmosphere. The Prices was decent and reasonable. Both The Toilets and the pub was very clean and awesome. The Location was absolutely spot on too! Right On The Promenade. Definitely going to come back next time I visit Great Yarmouth! If I could give this any higher than 5 stars I would! Out Of This World! 10/10 Would definitely Recommend!

Ate here 3 days on the trot and food was superb. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Prices very reasonable. Bar and toilets immaculately clean. Great location opposite beach. Will definitely come back if visiting the area again 😊😁🙂

Belongs to the Prom hotel..... a busy bar that's open to the public plenty of outdoor and indoor seating...

What a great bar, been here twice now and the staff and drinks are both great. Return here
