Unfortunately, our experience at this hotel did not meet the expectations we had for a 4-star establishment. Upon arrival, there was no welcome; the receptionist was on the phone for around five minutes, not making any eye contact or giving any indication that we were in the right place for check-in. This left us standing awkwardly, unsure whether we should wait or look for assistance elsewhere. The room itself was tidy, but the air conditioning didn’t work, and despite mentioning this issue to staff multiple times, it was never resolved. Additionally, my friend accidentally left their phone charger behind. They offered to pay for it to be posted to us, but we were informed it would need to be collected in person — despite them knowing we had travelled from London, which felt unhelpful and inflexible. A few other small things added up too. There were no complimentary biscuits in the room, which we would normally expect, and we had to pay extra for them at reception, a petty detail for a supposed 4-star hotel. If you order food from their restaurant to your room, there’s also a £5 delivery charge, which seemed excessive. Finally, we believed breakfast was included in our booking, but it wasn’t. I decided to pay for breakfast anyway, but unfortunately, it wasn’t good value for money considering the limited options available. Despite these issues, I still managed to have a good time overall, which is why we are giving two stars instead of one. However, we would not choose to stay here again.

The hotel is wonderful and the food is great. The staff are very friendly and impartial saidur was great.

Location-wise, you definitely need a vehicle to get to the city center. You can get help from Uber. The hotel is nice. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the bathroom is the same. There are many varieties of breakfast, but it seems a bit insufficient for our taste. But I recommend it..

My daughter and I received very attentive service from Moses today from the main bar in this lovely hotel. We were here as my daughter was playing in a chess tournament. Everything came out really quickly and Moses was very nice and fast with all. The food was great, good options of bar food mid afternoon. I’m very fussy about tea but it was served in a large pot just for me- very nice quality. I’ve seen the hotel is dog-friendly too which is very helpful as we have a dog and won’t have to leave her at home whilst my daughter plays chess again tomorrow. Thanks Moses!

I visited Mercure for the day and the service was exquisite. The receptionists Christine and Jordanna were very helpful and told me everything I needed to know. The bartender Moses made me this lovely hot chocolate while I waited and presented the QR code to write a review on a wooden contact card which I am very impressed with.

During my stay at the hotel, I had the absolute pleasure of being served by Moses at the restaurant. His warm, friendly demeanor and genuine attentiveness made every meal an exceptional experience. Moses went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and satisfied, always with a bright smile and professional attitude. He remembered our preferences, offered thoughtful recommendations, and made us feel truly welcomed. His dedication to excellent service is commendable and reflects the high standards of the hotel. Moses is a true asset to the team, and I would gladly give him a well-deserved 5-star rating.

When I book Mercure there is a certain way the hotel is. It feels comfortable and there are no amenities missing. However with this Mercure, it is missing the things other hotels in the price range would have. It felt more like a really budget place to stay. The stars belong to the staff however, very kind and attentive. Willing to do a lot to make you happy.

Frequently stay at the Cardiff Mercure north hotel , and always welcomed and looked after by the friendly staff especially Moses and Kamel who run the bar and restaurant. Food and drinks are always a fair price and the service is second to none. Will return

The hotel was nice staff wasn't to bad. The room wasn't a bad size The chair was uncomfortable to site in and that there was a hole in chair and that there was a nail sticking up and that there was no chest of draws to unpack your stuff and that you hadto live out of your bag and the switch was to high to put on for when you want a shower and that it should be lower down and that they don't think of short people that can't reach it and that the shower was poor and that it was on the ceiling and normally it is on the wall and that the dials to put shower on wasn't that easy to use. Had to ask everyday for small milks as they didn't give us enough milk. The staff weren't that friendly the bacon wasn't cooked properly and the eggs where like rubber and it was hard to cut.

Had a great 4 night stay at the hotel but did need to move rooms as there were some issues with the heater in the room. Had dinner every night which was usually good although the rump steak was thin and overcooked. Moses dealt with the issue incredibly well and professionally to make sure it was rectified. Great service and staff

When I arrived, it was quick check in, polite and informative at reception, unfortunately, I had problem with my room and asked to change, they immediately supported me with this and was waiting at reception for me on my return with the new key. Saidur was particularly helpful cheerful and attentive and dinner, in fact all were very polite but he stood out as he was my main waiter.

The room was spacious but it was really cold during the night. There was no radiator only air conditioning which can’t heat up the room.
