If possible I would give it a 0 star rating. Went there as a family of 5 with a 3 year old toddler and as my husband was eating he found a piece of spring whilst chewing his lamb chop. When we immediately called the staff and complained they said they don't know how it came there and blamed it on the supplier. If it was my toddler eating it then she would have swallowed this spring and it would be so harmful to her health, they only offered a discount of 15% to the next door dessert shop and nothing else. The steak was also so tough, there was no way to cut into it, and their excuse was that medium well done becomes tough by the time it comes to the table. This used to be one of my family's favourite restaurants but their service, hygiene and taste has truly gone down. Never going back again.

Asma guided us friends what to eat and everyone really enjoyed the food. The food came out really quick even though the restaurant was busy. Definitely my new go to place in Cardiff!

My sister and I went for our Sunday lunch last weekend. The food was amazing, service excellent and ambience was perfect. We are planning to go again, very soon. Highly recommend. If they become dog friendly, it will be go-to place for dinners!!

The food was lush! The service was exceptionally good, and amazing. A lovely restaurant, and the staff are 10/10, especially Asma, Dahlia, and Keisha - They are so friendly and helpful, and know exactly what they are doing! Definitely recommend.

They provided a wonderful sparkler in a cake my partner brought for my birthday and sang which was so special. Not the mention the food was amazing - especially the grilled chicken in the sliders.

Food was good, service was excellent and they made a fuss of my partner on her birthday dinner which is amazing.

First time and definitely will be returning…

Booked a table here for a NYE meal before seeing in 2024 and was very happy with the restaurant, staff (Hanin), and the food. The restaurant is only a 10-15 minute walk from Cardiff City Hall / Winter Wonderland. We ordered a couple of Mocktails (Afrikana Fruit Punch and Bubblegum) and enjoyed a lovely starter each (Bite Me and Put a Wing on It) before moving onto our mains. The food was excellent, and the service from Hanin was very friendly, courteous, and pleasant. Would recommend this restaurant for something different to anyone visiting Cardiff.

We booked a table at Afrikana Cardiff for a New Year Eve meal as we chose to visit Cardiff to see in 2024. We couldn’t have been happier! The food was reasonably priced and tasted delicious. We chose a starter course each of Bite Me & Put a Wing On It. These were super tasty. For our mains we chose, Jumping Jambalana and Fried Chicken Is Life. If you’re stuck for a choice, you can’t go wrong. We were served by Hanin, who was incredibly helpful, efficient and very polite. Have a great New Year! Two very full, and very content visitors :)

Hanein and the team were lush. We had to wait for a table for about 10 mins which was a tad annoying but busy new years eve is understandable. Worked quick to move us and food is always cracking. Staff very polite

The food was amazing, so much flavour and just orgasm to your tastebuds, the steak was perfect, chips perfect, jollof rice was spicy and sweet but I didn’t like my coleslaw salad but otherwise the food was perfect, the outside table and them little lights are really nice, service was amazing couldn’t have asked for better, we’ll be back

Ordered the food, which took over 40 minutes to arrive. The driver got lost, and the food was nice. This is my first time trying africana. Portions were okay, but the price was extortionate.

First of all I would like to say the girl serving was lovely very chatty and informative. The food was tasty but very overpriced for what you got. The jambalaya which I has I think was £15 which has 3 prawns and 5 pieces of small cubed chicken but my son's chicken burger was huge and tasty. The kebab came of a swing of some kind which is a little chavy imo and looks much better just served on a plate, we asked for the chicken thighs plain but came in a spiced marinate but she did take it off the bill. The drinks menu I have to say in horrendous, coke Fanta sprite etc is tasteless soda drinks overpriced again. No offer of alcohol drinks either because they offer halal meat which is pathetic. So in a nutshell food tasted of total rip off and couldn't even have a pint with my spiced food!! Sorry but I'll never return

Overall the atmosphere and service was good however the food was not to the standard for the money it tasted nasty sorry Africans and the potion was shocking 4 single prawns on a plate when asked for a meal ..

Food tasted nice but portions were really small. Not worth the prices they charge. Meat was chewy. Dishes not as described on menu. Wouldn't go again. Disappointed.

Came here Sunday. Food was nice. Service was good but the waitress wasn't the happiest person. We tried the beauty and the beast mocktail which was really nice.

We tried some of the small dishes and they was great! The fried wings with the honey mango glaze was beautiful! Came straight off the bone and cooked fresh. We opted for burgers for mains! This was a mistake the burger lacked anything other then what you would find at your local boss man shop. I expected more so it was disappointing putting normal burgers on the menu. They lacked seasoning and the bun they serve them in just goes soggy. The chips which accompanied the burger again should be homemade or have some type of their own twist with herbs spices on! The staff did try resolve this issue and it’s not their fault. Overall if you do visit I recommend trying the small plates and maybe other dishes but not the burgers!

First time at Afrikana and it was a VERY pleasant experience. The food had some munch flavour, the restaurant itself is gorgeous but I have to highlight our server Charlotte. I think she mentioned she'd only been working there a few days but she was amazing like she'd been there for years. Very knowledgable about the menu, accommodating to me and my mum and just had a smile on her face the whole time. She was incredible, just like the food and atmosphere, will be back soon!

Awesome place especially the chicken burger which has a nice spicy twist to it. The platter is very good for a larger group. The staff and management are very helpful and friendly. The decor is excellent

We liked this place, grilled chicken and sauces were all really nice - a bit on the spicy side but I think that is the point. Mac n Cheese which we ordered for our children wasn’t great, but everything else including service and ambience was perfect. Thank you.

Food was good , bunny chow was tasty, "we goat ur back" I definately reccomend , lamb chops were spot on. Kids love their chicken burger .spicy olives in olive oil they serve on house were banging.Ambiance wise very good aswell, nice decor and dark african setting. Service was fast. Pricing is a bit on pricy side but overall if u add up everything and compare with any fine dinning resturant its not that bad. Will defo come again. Having said all good things i would say mocktails arent the best if u can avoid them and spend that money on food its worth it.

Went there with my friends. We were encouraged to order the platters. The word platter implies a wide selection of items, but to our suprise we were given a full chicken and two minuscule lamb chops, with sides of a small bowl of chips and a small bowl of rice. The platters cost £45 each. It was frankly a con! We could have just ordered a complete chicken and 4 sides from Nandos for nearly half the price. We felt like we were manipulated into ordering this. We were left hungry and had to go to another restaurant to satisfy our hunger. Also, not sure what is particularly African about the place. The place is just a glorified Nandos.

Went for daughters birthday. Food was lovely, waitress helpful in suggesting/adapting a dish when an item in the menu wasn’t available. Would go again.

Service and atmosphere was good. Main dish was also good but the drinks are not up to the mark at all! I tried Mango juice which was very diluted, more diluted than the supermarket ones!
