The best Chips around the food is top

Food is bad , chips are like soggy fried mashed potato, pies are a soggy mush, homemade rissole tasteless mush fish batter is so hard and greasy, used to be quite a good chippy don’t know what has happened to this place.

Had many deliveries and collected food from this chippy, I have to say on all occasions food was delicious and piping hot. Will definitely be having food here again and would recommend 👍 🌟

What a lovely chippy. Such a variety on offer including vegetarian meals, which I love. It's so popular due to the quality and choice and I can see why. Did wait a bit as the shop was full, but was so worth the wait.

Great chippy (not Mels chippy) the chips are fantastic the service is great and the dogs loved the leftovers 😁

Update: since the new management it’s gone downhill. The chips are still good but you order food for delivery and it takes over an hour to get to you. If you ring (more than twice) you just get told it should be with you any minute now. I don’t think I’ll be returning. Such a shame as this was the best chippy in the area Mel’s is the best. The food is always hot, the service is great and what they do for the community at large is above and beyond. Honestly get down there and get your chips!

Called here today as the usual chippy I go to in Llandybie was closed. Was gutted to be served chips that must have been in the box for hours. They were all dried up and rubbery, hard and dry. Server should have been able to see that by the look of them. Fit for the bin only. Won’t be back

Awful slow service 25 minutes to get sausage chips and curry sauce. When I got home hard dark chips. Having waited so long expected fresh. Quality has gone down. Will not return or recommend to anyone. Food much better at crisp and fry and quicker service. You lost another local customer. Better to get the quality and service right before banging on in front of customers waiting how busy you are with online and telephone orders. Try being professional like other chip shops in the area and get the basics right first.

I ordered from this chippy 45 minutes in advance, expecting my meal to be ready at the designated pickup time. Unfortunately, when I arrived, I had to wait an additional 25 minutes before my order was ready. The food itself was decent, but the long wait was frustrating and inconvenient. If they can improve their timing, this place would be much better.

Top notch, best chippy in the area, will deliver locally. Baked spuds as well. What's not to like?!

Have eaten here many times, but it has just been taken over by a new owner. So tonight I ordered a delivery and I must say.....it was the nicest chippy food I've had in a long time! Batter was beautifully crisp, chips were fantastic, kids meal was larger than anticipated and the order arrived a little earlier than expected too🍴👌 New owner is also super friendly!😁 All in all, a great place to order from!!👍❤️

Long wait at 7pm on a Friday, but worth it. Fab chips! Update: chips still good, but looooong wait again. Forgot to give us the curry we ordered and then when we got home we found one of the pies was seriously overcooked. Won't be visiting again :(

Gone down hill recently,, had rank chips there a few weeks ago but decided to give it another go but sadly another below average delivery. Spent over £25 on loaded fries which were swimming in bbq sauce, coleslaw and pizza had better in Iceland 🤮

Tried twice to order on line. Charged twice, but guess what no food delivered. The food is lovely but the system to order it is rubbish. This aspect of the service needs to be improved as it is just not worth doing, and is frustrating.

Fantastic food as a hgv driver that visits chip shop's nation wide this is one of the best look forward to getting back to Wales to have a loaded fries 🍟

Chips put up before chicken cooked so we're nearly cold, chicken overcooked and hard gave the dog most of it! The curry sauce was very thin and watery.

Fish is beautifully cooked, Irish curry is nice, gravy is ok

Fantastic food,brilliant service

Mels chippy is just delightful. If ever there was a chippy with it all its this one. Its not just a local chippy, oh no..... Mels is so much more in so many ways. Its a safe haven, its a fun and friendly place to go. Its the heart of our little community who genuinely cares about the people in it. I think I stand alongside a great many more people when I say there just isn't another chippy quite like this one.

Food is excellent. Service good. Staff always friendly. Best chippy in town. Would highly recommend!!

Fast friendly service, food was amazing especially the portion size, one large chips is enough for two adults, would recommend anyone like me who lives in the area, I would also recommend a trip in the car to go here.

Went here last week, The food was good but the blonde young girl working was horrible! gave such an attitude and kept rolling her eyes! I’ve only recently moved to the area and never going again!

Superb chip shop with a great choice, Had Pollock and Chips. And my wife had the jacket potato and curry .absolutely Delicious. With a great service . Looking forward to a return visit.

Chips are delicious here. Sausages great too. Very impressed as we had come in 10 minutes before closing and I just stuck my head in and asked were there any chips left, expecting if there wasn't that I'd just be out of luck - they said no but they'll happily put some more on. Have been turned away from other chip shops about 20-30 minutes before closing and would have understood being turned away 10 minutes before closing, but they were excellent here at Mel's and went above and beyond. Top notch.

Fish bites were gorgeous but the chips could have done with a bit more cooking time, this is the second time I've felt they needed more time. The chips in their Llandybie shop are nicer

Top notch food but terribly slow For example if the next person in the queue wants cod and chips, everybody else has to wait until the cod is cooked and given to the customer. Suggest you avoid if you want a quick service. 4 in queue, wait about 20 mins.
