It may seem daft to go on a 200 mile round trip just for a few eclairs and bits however I've been wanting to surprise my girlfriend with these treats for a while, I had a free day so I thought drive down and get some. The place was closed!! Monday to Friday!! Yet copied and pasted off their website below clearly states open Saturday!! Waste of time, fuel, money etc etc ... Staff obviously useless based on reading other reviews saying how arrogant they are ... I'll never try again , considering the Savoy supposed to be prestigious ... OPENING HOURS Monday to Friday: 6.30am to 7.00pm Saturday: 7.30am to 7.30pm

I go to Melba as a treat for the outstanding coffee and super service! It's expensive but worth the cost as the coffee is leagues above anything else I've tried in the area! Service is always super friendly and Jess is extremely attentive and always seems to know what I want before I ask for it (and I change my order regularly). She always makes me smile and I look forward to popping in each week for a chat. Thank you for bringing sunshine into my weeks! Go visit people - you won't regret it!

Have used this place a couple of times in the past but won’t bother today. Had a very supercilious waitress who held her hand up to stop me from putting my order in. Rude and condescending this “lady” needs to learn how to treat people and customers. Based on this rather shoddy service I cannot recommend. Try Pret or the Spanish place next door at least they are civil to you!

Although expensive, the eclairs are worth every bite and a visit. A small shop, predominantly for take away. There are just 3 stools inside the shop, perfect for people watching 😀, being winter, there was no sitting outside.

Convenient being right next to the Savoy, but keep walking at you'll find the ubiquitous Pret A Manger which is far better.

They are named for the opera singer that used to stay at the Savoy. When dieting she ate a concoction called melba toast. When not dieting, they gave her peach melba ice cream, all of it named for her by the Savoy chef at the time. This namesake has gorgeous specialty eclairs of all types. I tried the coffee, the croissant was amazing, and an egg sandwich on different days. Each time the staff was kind and helpful. If you are staying at the hotel, or walking near the strand, this is a cute and lovely place to stop. You can grab ready made breakfast sandwich or try a gourmet eclair.

I am so lucky to work very close to Melba and it has become my regular first-coffee of the morning stop on my way to work. The staff are all incredibly friendly and extremely efficient in assisting the many customers coming in. They seem to have built quite a crowd of regular customers as I see many loyal customers during my regular visits. Their lunch sandwiches, salads are excellent and so much, much better than Pret or Paul. Eclairs and other bakery products are good as well, and I always have to restrain myself not to over indulge in them too often!

Had a lovely egg and bacon croissant and pretty good albeit luke warm coffee, standard stuff really. The woman serving was pretty rude to a nice savoy chef who kept bringing her the lunch items to put on display. We all have bad days but I felt for the guy she kept berating. Hopefully she was just having an off day. FYI 1030 Tues 15th May.

Nestled in the Savoy, this dessert takeaway specializes in gourmet eclairs. Well executed generally and while still pricey, better value than comparable shops despite the prime Strand location. Selection varies daily but most are not too off-the-wall flavors. Not Parisian quality but tasty enough.

Oh my god...If I lived closer to this shop I would be in there all day. My husband went in to London recently and came across this place....He purchased a number of cakes for me as he knew I wouldn't be impressed if he didn't. the Crème Brule Éclair is to die for. Beautifully presented and the flavours of all of them were just something I have never experienced before. He knows not to come back from London without them now.

What an amazing place! Great service, scrumptious pastries, nice coffee and all at reasonable prices. I have already been there three times and I am planning my next visit as soon as possible. Do try the blueberry muffins and a very different apple pastry as well as the iceclairs. Thank you for making my afternoons better. Weather permitting, get your coffee and enjoy the tranquility of the Savoy gardens at the back of the hotel.
