Mei Moon Cantonese in Neath Port Talbot

This used to be a nice place, it has gone down hill a bit when I have ordered food here recently, the curry and rice wasn't as good and tasty as it used to be but that could have been a bad day, a lot of people said it has gone down hill but it definitely has potential to get better.

Ordered from the restaurant. Friendly and quick service. Food is as you would expect, hearty and heavy. Good prawn toast and salt-and-pepper ribs. Would go back.

Got home late and ordered here for a change. They was closing at 9.30 and I ordered at 9pm. Good arrived within 30 minutes, it was vary good portion sizes and it was lovely. I will order again. Ordered again last night - Not a eat in place since covid 19 however still great food to take away we fed 6 people for around £42

First time for us to have a takeaway from this Chinese. Potions were good food was tasty but would have like more Cantonese sauce, I will ask next time. otherwise very pleased with initial phone call to place order and food was ready on time. We will use the Mei Mmon again.

We are new to this take away. We had our first taste couple of weeks back. The lovely lady taking orders had excellent knowledge. This is our forever take away now. Food always nice and hot and so tasty.

If I could give a half star I would give 2.5 for this. Thought I would try somewhere different today as we were out and wanted something quick. We went in with cash as they only take cash, and didn't wait too long for the food to be handed to us. The crispy duck that came with pancakes was epic. However it ended there for me ... the Duck in Oyster Sauce was dreadful and so chewy and fatty and the quality was not great. The honey roast ribs seemed alittle strange compared to the ones I'm used too and the rice was nice but lacked something. My partner had chicken in sweet chilli sauce and said it was nice along with the satay chicken skewers. Unsure if I'd go back sadly.

Heard fantastic reports about this Cantonese takeaway. Ordered and placed a delivery, was told wait would be around 30-60mins. Delivery arrived just after the hour and the meal was still extremely hot. Upon tasting was very bland and so disappointing. Such a shame as first time to order after reading the reviews we were expecting a far better meal than we received

Never again. Cold chicken cold chips. And did not want to give money back. Yeah right.. Had my money in the end.

Authentic taste of Cantonese takeaway. We needed some food for a long way driving back to England so stopped by Mei Moon for takeaway. Their beef chow mien tasted wonderful and definitely with "wok hay". Generous portion. We also have house egg Foo Yung and of course tasted good. They used good quality rice (unlike many takeaways used cheap rice). Next time we go to Wales again, we definitely order from them again!

Absolutely and completely superb. Food appears to be freshly cooked and is always hot and tasty upon collection, service is absolutely fantastic and it’s really competitively priced. The duck is outstanding along with the Singapore fried rice (something I’d never tried before) and the chicken balls are absolutely bang on! Literally cannot speak highly enough of this place. My new favourite Chinese by a country mile!!!!!

I don't know if they have changed the person cooking in the last few months but the noodles in our chow mein are never cooked through so we tried curry and fried rice and the rice wasn't cooked through either. Also putting far too much garlic in their house special chow mein. We won't use for a while now it's no where near as nice as when it opened first sorry to say it WAS our favourite too ....

Had a takeaway two weeks ago and only now getting to a review. Not much to write expect for amazing! As always, your order is read back for you. Delivery was within the estimated time and the food was absolutely delicious. So much so that we have never got that bloated feeling that we have had with other chinese restaurants. The food felt that it was not saturated in MSG and appears to have been cooked in a healthier way. We personally would not use another chinese but this one in Port Talbot. Bravo!

Stopped off over the weekend to Port Talbot during a road trip and this place was quite highly rated. It was worth it because the food was really good and priced quite well. Staff friendly too, would go again if I wasn't 150 miles away haha

Another mediocre Chinese/Cantonese takeaway in port talbot. Wouldn't say it was horrible and tasteless but certainly bland. Staff very friendly though, and it did seem busy...... 45 mins wait for a takeaway

The food is 9/10 every time. Can’t fault it. The delivery service is a disgrace. I don’t know why I continue to give it another go because I know I will be sat by the window like a dog waiting for it’s owner to come home from work for hours. Then when you ring they tell you it’s on it’s way and I’m too nice to complain. But I’ve got to let it out now. My food still hasn’t arrived but when it does it will be my last. (Unless we collect maybe)

I would post a picture but it's all been eaten. House special chiw main, chicken with ginger and onion and pineapple fritters to finish. Food so fresh tasting, the meat you can cut with the edge of a spoon my third visit since lockdown and every meal a winner. Highly recommend the food.

Another delicious meal delivered by the Mei moon! I’ve said before that it seems that there’s much less false ingredients in the food and nothing tastes greasy like some other takeaways. Service delivered on time and the food delicious! This is our go to Chinese takeaway locally! Brilliant.

Little gem of a place, really good food and service.

This has become our first choice takeaway for Chinese food. The portions are the right size, the food isn't too greasy or salty, the service is friendly and prompt and they will make any changes to the menu that you ask for and follow through accurately. Prices are good. Can't fault them really!

I have given up Chinese takeaways due to the poor quality on offer. This takeaway has renewed my love for them. Beautifully fresh, restaurant quality, please do not change anything. Top quality x

Response was, We have nothing Gluten Free! Didn't want to know, total lack of understanding, having checked their menu on my return home, there was plenty of suitable items. But if they don't want my business, it's their loss. Walked a few doors up, went into the "Golden Dragon", what a totally different attitude and so helpful, placed our order, so enjoyed our take away meal, will be recommending them, will visit again in the future.

Excellent food and every assistance was given in dealing with an allergy - garlic no less! Takeaway was all hot and cooked to perfection.

Can't believe we have never ate from here before so decided to order a takeaway for delivery last night. I continuously rang for 10 minutes but it was constantly engaged, a good sign surely? Once i got through, there was a bit of a wait (60-90 mins they informed us) but then again, it was Saturday night. The girl double checked our order on the phone which was correct. The food arrived 90 minutes later with a smile :) Oh my, the food was absolutely delicious! There's something i can't explain, the food was so tasty yet not as heavy as other chinese takeaways if that makes sense?... and not that dreaded salty taste of MSG. It arrived piping hot and i couldn't resist polishing off the rest lunchtime today after reheating! We found the prices were more reasonable than other Chinese takeaways in the area. All in all, this has instantly become our new go-to local Chinese takeaway! Can't wait to try other dishes! We'll definitely order again soon!

We called in for a takeaway on Friday 7th June 2019 at 7.30pm and our first impressions was of a very clean place. Then we were welcomed as we walked in with a friendly voice and smile saying hello and asking us of our order. What a lovely chap he was. A great front of house asset! He chatted at ease with us which made our wait time fly by. The food was absolutely divine! So much so we shall be back again this Friday. Well done Mei Moon. You have everything spot on there

I don't live in port talbot but I travel there just for the food here. I have never had a bad meal, sometimes a bit of a wait due to how busy they are for a small family run business, but I'm sure everyone who's been will agree that it's well worth it! Would highly recommend! 😁

Just ordered from this takeaway as we have before and, once the order was delivered we realised they had sent the wrong dish. My husband phoned immediately and they said they would return with the correct order,although they did question that I had perhaps mis-ordered! I had written down all we ordered and ticked it off as I ordered and then crossed through it as the lady repeated it to me. They then called back and said they would not be re-delivering the order as they had listened to the recording and I had ordered it wrongly. I strongly contested this and asked could I please come to the shop and listen to the recording and if I was wrong I would apologise. Of course it turned out that they didn’t have a recording at all! If there is one thing I cannot abide it’s lying! Feel really let down and will never use this takeaway again!

First time to visit here with my friends and decided to have a sit down meal. Owners are extremely friendly but talked to us all the way through our meal. We found it impossible to eat more than a few bites at a time.

The food has been better than some in Taibach have been, but in excess of 2 hours for delivery is a bit ridiculous.

Tried here as takeaway in Taibach are all now dreadful. Portions were tasty, good size and prices reasonable, will visit again and to add no bright red food colouring used like some which is a turn off for me

Excellent food As always Proving very popular of late On Friday Saturday and Sunday with take aways and sit down. A wait is expected(up to 1hour take away) (varies for sit down so take plenty on drink) on these days so dont be in rush , but well worth it food fresh well prepared and tastes execellent ......

First time ordering a delivery from mei moon, delivery took longer then what they said but deffanitly worth the wait. Absolutly stunning! They even gave money off the order because they took longer then what they said. Can't fault the food and service at all. Will deffanitly be having our Chinese from here all the time.

The food is so good here that I have returned countless times. The staff are extremely friendly and accomodating to any requests ensuring that you will enjoy the meal. It is nice to sit in the restaurant where there is a nice ambiance and staff are attentive. Food is served in very good time. Highly recommended.

Another recommendation whilst staying in the area. Had to wait a while for service, but popular with the locals so that was a good sign. Not licensed so take your own drinks. Food was lovely, lots of meat, not greasy, veg in my curry which I prefer. All hot, large portions & great value.

We made a lunch time stop on our way from Bristol to Tenby. We had the 2 course £5.50 lunch menu which included veg spring rolls, sesame prawn toast, chicken chilli black bean sauce and house curry with rice. Not a fan of deep fat fried food so wouldnt have the starters again but the mains were amazing. The owner was very very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Delicious!

This restaurant is fairly new in Port Talbot but they have very quickly established themselves and are very popular. We have not sat in for a meal only had takeaways. The food is delicious and the price is extremely reasonable. We are always amazed at how much food we get for the price. Certainly cannot complain about the cost here. They are excellent.

Stopped on impulse on the way back to our cottage, food was excellent, staff were very friendly the chicken in honey and black pepper sauce was recommended by their delivery driver and I can totally agree with him it was a very tasty dish. If we're ever this way again it would be a place we would come back and eat at.
