My favorite dim sum restaurant, I go there almost every week. Recommend the Thousand Silk Rolls, Braised Sauce Platter, and Bean Curd Sausage~~ a must-eat combination. At noon, if you two go there, you can order dish head rice and noodles, and you can enjoy the special price with cash~~ Eat at a low price. Four or six people eat 6-9 plates of dim sum plus fried noodles and rice, and each person costs ten pounds. It's just that the place is narrow, but I understand that it scares him a lot of business, and it's better to be narrow than to have no place at all.

Had a lovely meal here today. Have been enjoying meals, mainly at lunchtimes, at Mei Dim for many years and absolutely love the atmosphere, as well as the food. Staff always friendly but busy, They always find a table for us even though we are walk ins. Will be going again soon.

One of the guys serving us didn’t greet us, smile or anything. One lady was nice but seemed very slow in taking orders. Thank goodness for one other guy who was friendly and made us laugh. The food came out in reasonable time for the number of dishes ordered. My Chinese friend said the food was average. Some of mine I didn’t enjoy as much and some of it was really good so a bit of a mixed bag, and obviously down to personal taste.

I recently visited Mei Dim Restaurant, and unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. While the portions were definitely generous, the quality of the food was lacking. The dishes seemed overly greasy, and many ingredients didn’t taste fresh. The flavors didn’t stand out, and the overall quality felt more focused on quantity rather than delivering a satisfying meal. It was disappointing, especially considering how much food was served. Additionally, the service was very poor. The staff seemed disorganized and inattentive. We had to wait an unusually long time for our orders to arrive, and when they did, the food was lukewarm. The staff didn’t check on us frequently, and we had to ask multiple times for refills on drinks and sauces. It was frustrating because there was little effort to make sure we were enjoying our meal or to improve the overall experience. While Mei Dim does offer a lot of food, it doesn't make up for the lack of quality and service. It feels like they focus more on serving large amounts of food quickly rather than providing a pleasant dining experience. Overall, I would not recommend this place if you're looking for a satisfying meal or good service.

We had such a great time at Mei Dim. Right from the get go you knew that this is the spot that all the Hong Kong aunties go to for Dim Sum after a Quick Look around. We were served by some very friendly members of staff, the food came out relatively quickly and was all very delicious. We had 8 plates of dim sum and tea each and it barely cost us £40. 100% recommend visiting if you’re around the area.

It’s been a long time since I last came here. Love the staff here, all so friendly and chatty! I love the fact you don’t have to wait too long for a table, especially if you haven’t booked. The dimsum itself was not bad, I’ve had better from other places. Wasn’t a fan of the ja lerng as it was soggy and had no texture. The ming ha gok was also very overdone. The beef brisket noodle soup was nice though, flavoursome and hearty. The three roast portion was small and not generous with the meats, you only get a few pieces of each meats. Overall the dimsum was average but the service and atmosphere made it.

If you want proper Chinese food, but are not Chinese just don't bother with the place. We asked for Chinese menu and had to persuade the waitress for 10min to bring us a couple of dishes from chinese menu. Somehow she allowed us to order in the end, but when the food arrived it was just nothing similar to what we ordered. We got some bland european adaptation. For whatever reason, she's put a different order to the kitchen. Awful. If I order something, I don't expect a waitress to make a judgement call whether I would like the food or not. Just bring what I ordered. Complete disaster.

Located in the centre of Chinatown, the food was only so-so compared to the surrounding competitors. What that made me leave a review are the terrible service provided, unwelcoming atmosphere and being treated as if you're not needed there. You'll be much better off dining in another Chinese restaurant nearby which offer similar food quality( or better) and much more decent service.

!Scam Scam Scam! There's a few reasons why I do not want to GO Mei Dim and I truly mean it. It is always Scammy. Few years back, we got charged for things we didn't order. Went back in been told that the tea price per person was up suddenly by £3 per person which was the difference of charge. Today, we went for the lunch meal and thought everything got better or at least more honest this time around. The £9.80 deals turns out to be £10.80! That boneless 3 roasts has extra pound which we ordered for portion whereas other portion is normal as it is..... But got charged for both £10.80 also the hidden tea costs per person was £1. In all fairness £1 tea per person is now the gold standard but I can not hold my anger for how SCAMMY THIS PLACE IS. DO NOT GO

I’ve rated the food 4 stars based on previous diners experience. Unfortunately we never got to experience it. This was the only place without a queue and we soon discovered why. After being awkwardly seated and then left for 10 minutes on a table waiting to be cleaned (despite other tables being empty) we were eventually asked for our order. Before we could finish placing the 2 drink order, the waiter lost his temper and shouted asking if we were ready to order food!! We placed our food order in an awkward moment of panic, feeling like we were in the wrong, and then remembered we were the customers and had done nothing wrong, so we got up and left. Clearly an off day for the 30 something male waiter dressed all in black.

Really delicious dim sum, the har kao was the best I’ve ever had, prawns were so big and juicy!! The steamed bean curd rolls and sticky rice parcels were nice as well, but the fried dough cheung fun was just okay. My partner’s minced beef fried rice had lettuce in it which may surprise some if you’re not used to it but growing up with stir fried lettuce I didn’t mind it! One of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in the UK. My partner and I visited this restaurant in Manchester China Town today for lunch. My partner asked if they had any vegetarian options, and the lady said they did and gave us a menu. The menu didn't have the lunch specials that were advertised outside. When we asked about it, she seemed unhappy, though I'm not sure why.We ordered three roast meat with rice for my partner and a vegetable spring roll for myself. When the food arrived, the three roast meat with rice had a strand of hair in it, which was utterly disgusting. Wish I had taken a pic of it. We immediately informed the server, who took the plate away to replace it but did so without offering any apology. By then, my partner's appetite was thoroughly ruined, and decided to cancel that order. The veg springroll was just okay. Overall, it was an unpleasant experience marked by poor service (didn't feel welcoming at all ) and unacceptable food hygiene. I would not recommend this place based on our experience.

An authentic Chinese restaurant. I see there are a few 1* - 3* reviews regarding the service, but to put it mildly, authentic Chinese places often have very ‘straightforward’ service! I’d go as far as to say it’s a hallmark of a good place. On the food - excellent dim sum, get there early if you want a char siu pastry, as they often sell out. Delicious seafood peppers too. All very good stuff, though I’ve never eaten anything but dim sum here as the portions are too large to have a few dishes between 2 people (as is standard at traditional Chinese places)

The service attitude is extremely poor, and a group of old overseas Chinese employees are completely rude. In the first round, I ordered three dim sums on the order paper, but the waiter actually said, "It's not good to use an order paper if you order so many things. Next time, you can order so many things verbally, so the boss won't make trouble." In the second round of oral orders, while I was ordering, he kept telling me meaningless things... When the food arrived, I realized that something was wrong. The first thing the uncle who served it said was that I marked the wrong order on the paper... I said, "I'm a single person orally. I want cuttlefish cakes, not cuttlefish buns." The second sentence of the uncle who served the dish was, "You didn't make it very clear when you were alone." I didn't respond to him at all. After a round of silence, he silently returned to me... The food is pretty good and the price is average. It's a pity that the service attitude is so bad... I probably won’t help you anymore... at last The restaurant does not provide parking spaces, and the segregated parking lot charges £5.7 for two hours.

TLDR; good food but expensive, don’t expect any miracles when it comes to service. Food was nice (recommend duck pancake rolls), portion sizes a touch on the smaller side, was very expensive for what it was. Service staff incredibly rude and no communication between us and them, plates violently placed on the table, didn’t ask how the food was, took around 25 mins from closing the menus to come and take our orders even though in my opinion the restaurant wasn’t very busy (as it was a Monday night). Had to ask waiters for more drinks. However seating us and giving us the bill was pretty much instant. The restaurant generally was clean and tidy, however would recommend wiping any plates/cutlery before use. Toilets generally okay, wet floors (which can’t be helped sometimes) were slippery. Didn’t ask about any dietary requirements, so if applicable you have to ask them. Vegetarian options few and far between, and on the last page of the menu.

Had 2 dishes, Singapore vermicelli and roast duck, roast pork, char siu rice. They were not upto my expectations and were just of marginally average qualities. Perhaps what you would pay for what you would get (these were special offer dishes cost £11.80 each). Besides, a dim sum named fried squid paste, that was quite good.

AVOID! Absolute train wreck of a Chinese restaurant. Staff seemed rude and impatient and were more of a burden than a help, they barley let us get a word in and had a terrible attitude. Also seemingly had no knowledge on what they were serving and couldn't understand what soy sauce was. By looking at the reviews even the locals dislike it. Restaurant itself was dirty and was extremely cramped, it felt dull inside, and I doubt the toilets had been cleaned in the last month, I really enjoyed all the pee on the floor too!! The food itself was bland, over salted and I think it was in the oven for about 10 seconds before being served to us, the vegetables were still rock hard and I think the chicken was still clucking at me, probably going to wake up with some disease tomorrow. One dish was missing and when arrived looked nothing liked described, instead it looked more like my dog vomited up his partially digested dog food. I would choose my local Chinese takeaway over this place any day, seriously, don't eat here, please.

Expensive and not especially well presented. Dirty tea pot, had old feed stuck in the side of it.

Absolutely horrendous food. Was up all night feeling sick with the squirts. Expensive food that even my dog wouldn't eat.

Disappointing Experience at Kadak Chai I had a very unpleasant experience at Kadak Chai and feel compelled to share it. One of the staff members—specifically the man with glasses—has consistently been rude to us on multiple visits, despite us being paying customers. His behaviour is unwelcoming and confrontational for no apparent reason. Additionally, the listed closing time on Google is 1:00 or 2:00 AM, yet we were told the restaurant was closing at midnight. Despite arriving well before the stated closing time, we were rushed and then asked to leave while we were still enjoying our chai. This kind of inconsistency and disregard for customers is frustrating, especially for those looking to enjoy a relaxed late-night tea experience. The overall customer service is severely lacking, and the atmosphere feels uninviting due to the staff’s attitude. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant or respectful chai experience.
