Visited the newly revamped Medmex that has now been renamed Cloud 9 for a birthday celebration on a Thursday evening. We had a young member of our family with us and an elderly lady. Should have changed the name to Cloud Vape or Cloud Chav. A group of young adults sat drinking and vaping without caring about other customers. Felt like I was in a roudy pub in a city centre. The noise from one young woman was horrendous. Shouting and swearing at top of her voice totally spoilt our meal. We asked the young barman to intervene and he explained the proprietor wasn't in to sort it! My advice to that young barman...grow a pair! He did eventually ask them to quieten down. Young teens kept coming in off the street just to use the toilet. One of our party was sure he saw small packets exchanged in the mens loos. Not something we want our youngsters to experience. Mediocre food okay and served quickly, however, we won't be returning anytime soon unless the clientelle improves, even our teens were discusted by what they witnessed.

this venue has now been renamed Cloud 9, great name great place, food so so, but please stop the vaping, great plumes of whatever is exhaled into the atmosphere and needs to be done outside

I have been using this restaurant for several years and it has always been excellent. However our meal last not was very poor. I ordered a regular dish and it was completely different to what I had been made before, very bland with a different make up. The chicken stroganoff can swimming in a “soup” with the basket of chips plonked in the motor it. A friends Salmon was the size of you little finger. I questioned the lady serving and ask if they have a new chef, she hesitated and sed no “but we are training staff” that really shouldn’t compromise the food. I went to the Gents, this had a sign on “out of order”. So I used the disabled. This had no means to dry your hand (what do the staff do ?). I mentioned this to the staff and they gave me some blue roll and said it must have run out. 20 mins later my friend went and faced the same issue. He mentioned it to the staff who then sed the machine must be busy. He took her to the toilet to point out there is no machine. This is/was a great place, something has changed dramatically for the worse, sadly I will avoid until it is sorted.

Whilst on holiday in Hornsea we visited Med-Mex to celebrate a birthday. The great thing about this place is that the bar area is dog friendly, so our two Frenchies could join us. I had the steak which was huge and succulent, my wife had the Spaghetti Al Pesto which she loved. For a seaside restaurant the prices were surprisingly cheap and the service was great. We understand there are plans for a refurb in early 2024, so it will be interesting to see on our next visit. Highly recommended!

Great service and great food. I can’t eat much and they allowed me to have a starter for my main course. My other half had a steak and said it was delicious, he’s hard to please when it comes to steak! Drinks were fresh and well presented and it was a lovely atmosphere. Slightly strange with the noise of emmerdale from the TV combined with the classical music but this isn’t a big issue just a bit random! We will definitely return.

Great staff great service great food, have been to this restaurant numerous times in our visits to Hornsea to visit family, our lates meal was excellent good value for money, we planned on just a main course but looking at the menu we shared a starter, three mains and two desserts followed by excellent cocktails! Looking forward to our next visit

First ever visit for myself ( friend had been before but a while ago )and to start with was impressed , greeted by smiling staff led to a table and presented with menus . Our drinks order was taken and drinks arrived promptly whilst we decided on food . We had a large nacho to share which was lovely . Our main meal was ok ish ordered an extra side of vegetables to share and that’s when it started to disappoint - 3 sprouts 4 slices of carrot and 2 cubes of roast potato !! . The next disappointment was a dessert churros- arrived with no cream , pointed it out and then they returned it with the smallest squirt of cream Next ordered coffee but machine was not working . They didn’t even offer an alternative ( would have even had an instant ! To finish off meal ) Asked for the bill and it arrived but wasn’t our bill ?? Went up to explain to a staff member After a while someone came over and said what didn’t you have o m this bill ! There was nothing on the bill that we had ! Eventually after almost 20 mins they came over with the correct bill . We had been watching them at the till trying to sort this problem out . I will not be going back again which a shame as it looks a lovely place

Popped into Med Mex for a drink, met the amazing Sherif who made us the best Mangocolada drink, we watched him make a Pina Colada for a couple of visitors, he gave us a taste then asked if we had ever tried a Mangocolada, wow, if you have never tried one you really should, what a lovely man Sherif is, thank you so much

Astonishingly poor. My brother and family have been coming here for 10 years and we have joined them on occasions but its sad to say it has gone downhill. We were here with 3 hungry children otherwise we would have walked out after what was served up. Initially my brother complained politely after he was told the chef could not make him a cheese sauce, however that was rectified by the head waiter and somehow the chef had changed his mind and made him one. Following that, the spaghetti bolognese served up to my neice and I looked like food mixed up for a toddler to consume. It had been slapped in a bowl, holes where it looked like a thumb had been in it, hanging off the side of the dish and was presented as 'spag bol' by the waitress. I also thought the place was in need of a good clean too! I certainly won't be dining there again until things improve. Up your game MedMex, you can do better.

This place looks promising from the outside and from the reviews, but was disappointing. Most of the dishes were a reasonable effort by the kitchen but lacked a bit of polish, or the quantities were all wrong. My fajitas had the tiniest smear of guacamole (which was tasty), but then a mountain of iceberg lettuce and grated cheddar cheese; everything also came on cold plates. The food was reasonably priced, as were the drinks

Although we don't live locally - we always have a meal here when in the area. Excellent menu choice. Starters/Mains/Desserts. Efficient, friendly staff. Highly recommended

A fantastic night with a cosy atmosphere when it was raining and grey outside. Really friendly helpful staff, cocktails were to die for- we had the Long Island iced tea and the toblerone. Meals were delish and bottle of house white reasonable and good. Been wanting to try food here for ages. We will definitely be back. Thanks to Claude and his staff 👍

The food here is terrible quality. I have tried it 3 times now incase it was a one off or differenr chef but had poor experiences each time. The Starter Combo £20 for a small bowl of nachos a few cheese bits and 3 dips. Ridiculous! My main was just microwaved slop and my friends steak had no meat on it just a fat grizzly mess. The guy behind the bar is extremely moody and lacks basic customer service skills clearly doesn't want to be there. Would never return

We visited here on the last evening of our holiday and we were really looking forward to it. However, the waiter wasn't very knowledgeable about the cocktails or the wines!!I had a glass of Merlot, but was given house wine which tasted disgusting!! My husband had a mocktail which he enjoyed.The presentation of the meals wasn't great considering the cost of them and my husband said that his burrito was tasteless!!Also, the toilets were very basic and there was toilet rolls lying around on the floor!!This wasn't the end to our holiday that we'd hoped for and won't be visiting again!!

Visited last Friday and ordered the calamari and lasagna which both came out hot and quick despite being busy and both tasted amazing could tell they where fresh and the staff where all lovely will definitely visit again

Waited 5 mins to be taken to our table, it took another customer to point out how long we’d being waiting. Took an hour to receive our meal, despite others who arrived after us being served both starter and main before us. The meal was delicious, however one persons side was cold, we would have mentioned this, however no one came to check everything was ok. We ordered a bottle of wine from the menu and received another bottle with no explanation as to why.It was a busy night for being mid-week and to be fair the meal was delicious, however the service was very poor overall. A bit more organisation and thought into customer service would go a long way.

First night staying in Hornsea and wanting somewhere to eat on a Monday evening we stumbled across this restaurant, having not booked we still managed to get a table. I must say the service and staff was very good, food came quickly and although the presentation was lacking (reason for only 4 stars) it was quite tasty, although the chilli on my steak could have been hotter (both temperature and spice). The rest of my family enjoyed their meals but again it was just let down by the presentation. I would visit again should I be in the area though.

We were on holiday for a week in hornsea and booked med mex for my grandson s 14 th birthday there was 9 of us together .The staff were so friendly and helpful .The food was excellent we all had different dishes and were very impressed with the food and service .After our meal the staff came with an ice cream with a candle in and sang Happy birthday it was a lovely touch .Thank you to all the staff will definitely be back.

Me and my family went here during the six weeks holidays for tea, it’s dog friendly, they even brought over a treat and a bowl of water for our dog, which was lovely. The food itself was amazing. Really good value for money as the portions are huge. Will definitely visit again.

Lovely food and atmosphere, good size portions, all good cooked to order so they are happy to make alterations. Special mention to angie our waitress our looked after my daughter’s food allergies, she is a vegetarian who is intolerant to dairy and gluten so eating out is usually a nightmare! Angie made recommendations and double checked all ingredients, even speaking to another waiter, who was vegan, about drinks.

We chose the mex because we both love Mexican we both had chicken but they had friend the sizzler together which would be expected but mine has mushrooms on my friend had none he said just how it came out of the pan he did bring a dish of extra mushrooms which was lovely .The staff was very lovely and helpful everything on the plate which is normally different in all Mexican we been before .

Venue looks great from the outside and had good reviews , the staff were friendly but the food wasn’t the best. It lacked flavor and everything was covered in far too much cheese including the nachos (which you wouldn’t think is possible and also you would think the more cheese the better - not this case , as I believe it’s just piled on to disguise the bland food) I wouldn’t go back or reccomend but if your after a beer then I’d say it’s ok .

Visited today for the first time. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. There is a very good cocktail menu. The menu is a good mix of options. We had the mile high tortilla pie and the chicken chimichanga. Both were excellent. The whole place has a great atmosphere. Have already booked a table for the next visit.

The staff here are very attentive at all.times and nothing is too much trouble, decided on the chicken chimichanga, and a side order of onion rings, absolutely delicious and well presented, the onion rings are up there with some of the best I have eaten, little bit disappointed that they had run out of churros for dessert bit opted for the chocolate fudge cake, All in all a great meal, brilliant staff, if I find myself in Hornsea again would definitely visit again

Marvellous meals at Med Mex!We enjoyed one of our first post-lockdown indoor meals at Med Mex as part of a midweek staycation in Hornsea.The welcome from the team (Abby, Angie and Bex) was warm, friendly and enthusiastic. One of our group had very specific dietary needs which was effortlessly accommodated by the menu but also the offer of adapting existing options. This was impressive by any standard and made our group feel fully catered for by the restaurant. The cocktails were brilliantly presented and staff consistently attentive to keeping drinks following and checking on our enjoyment of the food. The layout of the restaurant worked very well for social distancing as well as being smart, stylish and comfortable. Air conditioning was a little cool although staff kindly changed this when we raised it. A superb meal, beautifully presented and very tasty!

We went for a meal at this restaurant cum bar. The food was good to a general standard. Nothing fancy. They pitch themselves at the average level of food. The service was ok and the food was tasty. For the price this is a great choice.

We visited this restaurant to celebrate a birthday , we were very well looked after !! Really friendly staff who managed our children perfectly ! We were looked after all night , keeping our drinks topped up etc , The food was really good and we tried items from all parts of the menu ,we will go again, recommended

We booked online for 4 people and were cordially greeted. The tables were very well spread out and staff were wearing visors. The menu had an excellent choice and catered for vegetarians very well. I opted for the vegetable fajitas and the food was delicious and there was lots of it. A bottle of chardonnay was £16.95 and glasses of water were complimentary. All in all, we had lovely food and were well looked after. Well worth a visit.

Booked a table on line and sat down around 8pm. Calamari to share for starters followed by sirloin steak and ham and mushroom pizza. All were delicious. Very friendly waiter without being ott. Reasonably prices so all in all highly recommend.

Lovely varied menu which is split into pizzas, pastas, steaks and mexican food. The steaks sell out quick so have a back up option. Pleasant welcoming staff and service, can also just call in for drinks. Would recommend if staying in the area.

I visited med mex with a friend for drinks and dinner. We enjoyed a garlic bread starter which was piping hot and very tasty,followed by main meals from the med menu,it was lovely having a choice of both Italian and Mexican food.the cocktails were fab,the staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. A friend and i visited medmex for an evening meal. We recieved beautifully cooked food, very tasty cocktails and excellent service from staff. Overall a lovely experience which we would love to do again!

Visited med mex as we were staying for the weekend in hornsea and had seen that it was fairly high up on trip advisor and we really fancied something a bit different to typical Italian restaurants. We ordered nachos and chicken bites to start, and chicken chimichangas for mains. The mains were brought out before the starters but when we asked where the starters were, they rectified this. The nachos had clearly been microwaved as they were soggy (they also have olives on them which is strange and not mexican at all) and the chicken bites were really over cooked and really underseasoned. They must have rushed the dishes due to their error. We mentioned this to the waitress who was lovely and gave us a free drink- she told the chef our comments and he advised her that none of what we were saying was true. The mains then arrived and there was literally four pieces of chicken in the chimichanga and there was 0 flavour in them at all, no salt or seasoning was used at all and there wasn't any cheese in them as advertised and we were so disappointed. We showed the waitress the contents of inside the chimchangas and she apologised but we hardly ate any of the main course due to the lack of taste and just general disappointment. The only reason I am giving a two star rating is because the waitress who served us was really lovely and apologetic and tried to rectify the disappointing starters with a free round of drinks. The order still came to £41 and with the quality of food or lack of, I would have hoped we wouldn't actually have to pay the full price as we voiced our concerns (this isn't something we would usually do but the food was not good at all and so we felt we had to raise the issues). Had high hopes for this restaurant but we were extremely underwhelmed and not impressed at all. Would not return.

Food fantastic place fabulous that can’t be said about two female waitresses. Our first visit was for lunch on the Monday the owner made us really welcome with our three dogs. He confirmed it was ok for us to sit at this particular table near the window he said no problem with dogs as long as you don’t sit down the bottom in the restaurant (I can understand this as not everyone is a dog lover) we rebooked for the following Sunday night (when we booked I did not realise it was bank holiday Sunday) at the same table, on arrival the young lad asked me to take my seat then changed his mind I was left standing a lady waitress came and said you have booked for two this table is for 6 but I have the dogs she told me you would only be able to have the table until 7.30/8 I was not told of this when I booked, I then sat two minutes later another waitress arrived informing me I should not be sat there the booking was takes face to face 6 days previous with my contact phone number so if there was a problem then why were we not contacted she then said if anyone complains then we would have to move bear it in mind next time the bar area is for people with dogs. I felt very very intimidated and very uncomfortable. The bar area was over populated the thought of eating and people standing around/over us as we ate filled me with horror. Sat across from us was a horseshoe seating area with just two people and a very small child so what was the problem both tables took up the seating of 5/6 customers. We hope to call again and we will most definitely if we have the chance to speak to the owner the whole experience was dreadful with these two staff members

Food was definitely enjoyable but all social distancing measures previously in place on our last visit such as the one way system and distanced tables have been abandoned. No screens between tables which are probably less than a meter apart. If you care about social distancing measures, give this place a miss for a while

Called in after dropping my caravan off at a seasonal pitch. To be honest, we didn't have very high expectations, we were just hungry! But, the food was outstanding and the service good. The other half said his sirloin steak was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Vegetable fajitas were lovely. I can see this restaurant being our go to place when in Hornsea. Can't wait to go back.

I visited the Med Mex with my wife for a lunchtime meal during Eat Out to Help Out and was impressed again. It has been a while since we had called in the Med Mex as our last few meals in 2019 were poor. We were welcomed by Claude the owner and had a variety of food, we shared starters of garlic and tomato pizza and a calamari dish- both excellent -my wife had a sirloin steak which was an incredible size and cooked to absolute perfection, just as she had requested. I had a chicken meal which was spicy but just enough without being all hot. The experience was highly enjoyable and has reignited our interest in the restaurant, and as a bonus the owner said he is continuing the Eat Out to Help Out after it finishes, we are looking forward to going back .
