McDonalds in Bolsover

This is a normal motorway services mcdonalds. Wait time for food was 4 or 5 minutes, food was at the top end of the mcdonalds quality range. And the only problem at this services was finding somewhere to sit and eat - more people than tables.

Rubbery chips barely warm. Chicken McSandwich - surprisingly tasteless. The worst McDonald's I've ever visited. Couldn't hang about or I'd have complained at the franchise but I was on a tight schedule. Avoid this.

A smoothie from Macdonalds was nice and the loos were fine. My gripe is the terrible signage. I missed the CAR park sign and was almost forced to drive away but managed another circuit & found it. On leaving I went round in circles twice and ended up on the slip road for cars coming IN, I realised quickly and did a 3 point turn, thank goodness nothing was coming in. Eventually got out somehow near the petrol station. Will NEVER stop here again will go to one of the other "T's" on this stretch.

A busy branch on a busy service area. The branch was ok but the smell of fat is not good. Outside is not well kept so disappointing for a dog owner who has to sit with my dog

I visited this McDonald’s restaurant about an hour ago n it were horrible. The drinks were dry n the chicken nuggets were rock solid. Like when we tried to bang them of the table there was almost a dent in the table. And to top it off when I tried to ask if an order was mine I got ignored. I’m v v angry abt this ngl😡😡😡😤😤😤👿👿😠😠

After a long drive myself and my colleague stopped for some breakfast. The staff were amazing. The lady serving made my day with her enthusiasm, "Good morning, have a good day!" She asked if she wanted any sauces, gave us serviettes and was really pleasant to deal with which you don't find often in mcdonalds. The manager was attentive and was asking customers if they were enjoying their food. Nick was also amazing, he made sure customers had everything they needed and went out of his way to help customers. Really good experience which as I say, is rare nowadays for McDonalds. Keep it up guys, you made our day.

15 minute wait for food. Food was cold. Coffee was cold. Fries inedible. We had a puppy in the car so no time to dawdle or return to complain. We will not stop at this site again

As ever McDonald's tibshelf is the slowest McDonald's in the world. Never stop at tibshelf for McDonald's. You will add ages to your journey.

Called on a long road trip, order large double quarterpounder meals, when we openwd the bag we'd been given cheeseburgers ... how on earth do you mix the two up, one comes in a box, the other wrapped .. as we were already on the motorway we coukdn't go back to complain... hell of a difference in product and PRICE .. one way to maje money. Very dissatisfied...

Just stopped by for a couple of cappuccino's and the service was so friendly. A female member of staff came to chat while I waited and the man from behind the counter brought the drinks to me. It makes a pleasant change on a motorway to get a pleasant welcome like this. We were heading south between J27 and J28.

Trying to be slightly healthy ordered a spicy veggie wrap, pineapple stick and bottle of milk. Looked on the computer but wanted to pay cash so went to counter told that was an old menu and they didn’t do pineapple sticks anymore so got a fruit bag instead cost about 70p more which in the grand scheme of things isn’t much more but assumed it would be the same price?! Then had to wait 15 minutes as it was saying preparing on the screen I thought it would be made fresh. When I had finally had enough and asked if it was ready... there it was ready to go. How did my order get missed. Driving back from wales after lovely weekend with 6 month old baby and 2 year old in the car waiting that long was not ideal. every second counts with kids! Thanks McDonalds for nothing. After all that it wasn’t even nice!

Burger was a bit under cooked, had to throw it away, chips cold but ice cream nice. Not very busy but it was around 23.00 but even so, the burger was cooked while I waited and I think on a timer so should have been alright. Not surprised abut cold chips as often happens with McD.

Stopped off for just a coffee at about 11.30 on a Monday and this must be the quietest and cleanest McDonald's I have ever been to. Attended to at the order counter by Kim instantly, despite her doing another task at the time. Never experienced that before. There was a staff member on the shop floor ensuring everything was clean. The order screens were all thoroughly cleaned, not only the screens used my many fingertips, but the outer rim and top where dust and dirt could hide, and even distribution of the numbered order staff delivery to table signs. Did not eat here today as not hungry, but will certainly use these services again on my next journey north east!

Large area for you to stand whilst the staff fall behind on their orders and leave you standing for half an hour An utter disgrace to the franchise and name I am appalled Not even seating for disabled people The staff look like they are clearly enjoying their staff free meals but are very very slow to serve Avoid like the plague

They get the orders wrong - why, we don't know. They don't listen? Maybe they'd prefer to just take the money and not have to bother with having to prepare food.

This franchise is a joke! I waited for ages for my food (again) and there was at least 15 people waiting before me. I think they must cook the food to order, which wouldn’t be so bad if the food was any good. My burger (double cheeseburger) was cold, so cold the cheese hadn’t even melted on the burger. I took it back and it was like taking to a brick wall. No customer service at all. In fact while I was waiting 20 minutes for my food, one of the manager was loudly making his thoughts clear about a particular staff member. Professional! The lady who cleans the restaurant area just stood smacking her chops chewing gum - oblivious to the numerous dirty tables. It’s amazing what you notice when your stood waiting for so long. They offered me a free meal next time I visit. No thanks, I’ll drive to the next services on my next travels!

Stopped off here on Saturday morning with family, stopped for a McDonalds breakfast.Ordered food as usual, waited, there was one person getting the orders out, plus he was cooking as well what looked like buns on the side, but wait, he was going so slow there was a total of 20 orders up on the screen waiting to be served, now to say there was all these people waiting this worker was going at snail pace and I mean snail pace. And one of his colleagues who was doing the drinks, which was also mounting up to go with all the orders what was waiting which I presume was going to get cold as they was coffees/teas, she kept saying I give you a hand in a minute and she repeated this several times but she never did help.It was ridiculous. When we finally got to the car to eat guess what? Yes some of the order was missing so one of us had to go without as there was no way we was going back in to wait. And of course the food was not even lukewarm as it had been waiting so long to go out, not very good for customers to be eating is it. No idea how they managed to get order wrong as its all numbered .This is appalling for what is meant to be fast food. Like I say in title a snail would of got the food out quicker! I just hope this worker wasn't doing the lunchtime rush!

As I drove south I required a stop off. Thankfully I chose this small service station off the M1, as it proved to be most enjoyable at 4.15pm on a Wednesday.

Stopped on the way to London for a rest. The services were clean and tidy and prices very reasonable for a service station.

Omg the staff looked if they didt wanna be there. Uniforms dirty. Seating area well I'm lost for words.place needed hitting. Concidering it's in the services with other catering company's. It's shocking. Won't be as to g there ever again.

The McDonalds in the Tibself Services is located in the back side of the building before you get to the toilets. They have machines where you can place your order as well at the counter. Food was fast and hot.

This is just a Macdonalds at a motorway services so it isn’t anything fancy but the food we ordered came very quickly and it was the usual Macdonalds standard - that is very good. Perfectly adequate if you are travelling and just want an easy meal.

We visited the restaurant after travelling all day from another country at 00:30am and have never been so disgusted - if food hygiene inspectors saw this they would have been shut down immediately.

Can't fault the service here..quieter here than other services, and always clean and tidy. Pancake and sausage was my choice, while my husband opted for a wrap. Washed down with a latte, this definitely hit the spot for under £6.00. Staff were friendly and polite, as always.

Ordered big tasty as part of our meal got back to the car and was cold, never again, had to wait long enough to cook it

We stopped for lunch on our way home and we can only say we were underwhelmed.

Usual McDonald’s food but upon collection found that they had no draught soft drinks, offered a can instead. I’d purchased a medium drink but could have chose small and got the same can. The lad behind the counter didn’t really have a sentence to put together to explain what was wrong just pointed at the drinks machine and said broken!

Honestly I feel for poor Chloe. There was 3 other members of staff on, (blonde lad, a girl called Sarah and the manager) all having a chinwag and doing nothing in the back while Chloe ran her socks off and saw to me and 3 others orders at once, all by herself!

I know it’s McDonalds so don’t expect high quality but edible maybe! My 8 year old son described it perfectly, “it tastes really old!”.

It’s McDonald’s what do you expect! But the staff working there are nice and polite. So that’s the main difference between this place and lots of other fast food places!

Went to this McDonald’s on the way home from a day out. Ordered 3x double cheeseburgers and a side salad. All were with different bits added/taken off (we always do this to ensure it’s fresh, and the kids are picky)

I found the chicken in my chicken legend a bit soggy. Not unedible but not as enjoyable as usual. The fries and cheese things were fine though, as was the service.

Visited today with wife, teenage son and 4 year old. Screens for ordering food none responsive so faced with large queue to order took too long! 10 mins wait for food and when it came it was cold! Even the annoying beep of the fryer alarms was amplified by the seating area meaning wherever you dat you got to listen to the beep beep beep over your entire meal! Not the worse Maccy D's I have ever had but I wouldn't rush back!

We just stopped here for a quick toilet break and some snacks Good place to stop and stretch the legs and has all the shops you need at a motorway services the shops are a bit expensive for items besides mc donalds but thats what motorway services are like

The thing is with McDonalds, you know what you are going to get the world over. The service was of the standard expected, as was the cleanliness of the eating area. The food is the food, and served quickly, just what you need from a motorway service area.

All McDonald's seem to be student run and always seem to employ these people who have had no experience of customer service like this one.

Ok it's never going to be gourmet cuisine, and I don't expect it to be from a motorway service station. That said, the place is clean, efficiently run, the staff are friendly. The food is typically consistent with every other McDonald's outlet; sometimes that's all you need.

I stop here from time to time for a coffee which is Costa coffee and perfectly OK. As a whole the service area is far less crowded than Woodall Services which are 10 miles up the road, no doubt because there are fewer outlets here. It is located between junctions 28 and 29 and has the Costa plus McDonalds and an outlet for basic essentials. If you just want drinks, casual food, toilets and fuel then look no further. I have always found it clean and well maintained.

Food ok quick service your better off eating here than using the fresh food cafe McDonald's could do with having 2 persons taking orders especially when coaches come in

We always use the Tibshelf services just before we leave the M1 for the M18Small services set back from the M1Pleasant parking area Lots of grass areas to sit or walk your dogs Outside picnic area However on our last visit we arrived like everyone else - motorway weary, tired and hungry and opted for a Mc Donald's as bored of pre packed sandwiches Ordered a burger meal minus bacon garnish and a chicken wrap mealBurger came as requested however nothing visually like the photo displayed Totally gross and thrown together - looked like grunge in a bunChicken wrap made no reference on any display board that it contained bacon - anywhere On opening the wrap - contained two dry chicken in crumb fillets , couple of shreds of lettuce , squirt of tomatoe ketchup and a microwaved slice of bacon !!Visually disgusting In fairness the wrap was exchanged for one without bacon on request however no explanation was given as to why the information regarding the wrap made NO reference to containing bacon ?Appreciate motorway services provide over priced fast food - travellers should maybe travel with their own food ,When you buy services food you know what your getting But well done McDonalds Tibshelf you take totally disgusting to a new level My advice would be give it a miss and save your money and your stomach a nasty experience

Always like to stop here as it never seems as busy and hectic as other services I have used previously. The public area is clean and tidy, and the staff always happy to help. Food is usually cooked to order and always consistently good. Noticed a few comments about the tables being dirty, but this is soon resolved if you ask (people don't always clear away their rubbish).

My wife and I called here on our way home from East Midlands Airport. It was about 8.15pm and very quiet. Milk shakes were not available as the freezer had been turned off inadvertently. The chips were lukewarm. The eating area only had two people in it and hardly any other customers around. Despite this the tables had obviously not been cleared for some time as every single table had rubbish on it and the floor was littered with chips and other rubbish. We were disgusted. Whilst we were eating an assistant made a half hearted attempt to clear a few tables but didn't even wipe them down! I made my feelings known in questionaire on line and a few days later received an apology via e mail from Scott Goodwin,Business Manager at Roadchef with a promise to send some "vouchers" - needless to say we are still waiting 12 days later. Eat here at your peril!

It's McDonalds. On a motorway. So you know the drill. Standard menu. High turnover seating. Little or no atmosphere. But wait, what light through yonder window breaks?It is my server, Liam by badge, and he's smiling, enthusiastic, polite, welcoming, all those things that 99% of these sort of outlets lack and he actually looks like he enjoys his job.So full credit to Liam for helping break a long journey and restore a little of my lost faith in human nature.Give this man a raise, people!

As you'd expect McDonalds to be really. Good, quick, standardised service with consistent quality food. Not a bad place to kill twenty minutes before I had to go into Sheffield.

Diane & I enjoyed a bacon & egg muffin en route to London on a National Holidays break, we both agreed it was delicious!

Costa coffee operate here and offer both good coffee and service.Sandwiches, good quality, can be purchased cheaply at W H Smiths; cheaper than elsewhere for a similar sandwich/roll

This is what McDonald's is all about - in/cheeseburger and fries/less than £3/out and on the road again. VERY quick service and not overpriced as some motorway establishments are. You know what to expect and you get it - I'm lovin' it!

After 300 miles on the road without a break I pulled in at Tibshelf services around 11.20pm needing light refreshment and a rest from driving. I was disappointed to see out of six food outlets only McDonalds was trading but Hey Ho, they ain't that bad so I ordered for me and the co-driver. The eating area had not been cleaned for ages, there was food spilled on the floor and the seats and most of the tables had remains of meals on. No one was seen to do any cleaning during the half hour I was there. The Chicken selects which is my usual McD order were tough, rubbery and dry and the batter was solid in places. My co drive also complained his burger was old and dried up. The Latte was bitter and lifeless. Another musician who I know walked in and took one look and chose to move on to Woodall, the next service area up. All in all a bad stop leaving us dissatisfied and not really refreshed for the remaining hundred miles. Both the service area and McDonalds have failed to fulfill their purpose and I won't be stopping there again.

Very busy but still quick service. All the food warm. Like most service station eating area communal.

We arrived around 11pm. Staff consisted of various teenage boys slouching around with their trousers falling down and a couple of girls. The boys were cleaning up; sweeping and then kicking the rubbish and spilled food on the kitchen floor into a pile at the back of the kitchen. Despite only one girl serving AND cooking, the boys ignored her when she asked them to get some fries from the freezer to allow her to continue cooking. To be honest, by the time our food arrived I was in 2 minds as to whether to eat it or not. The boys in the kitchen did not look smart or clean and the girl serving was exhausted. Not impressed and would not return.

We stop here quite often for breakfast, especially south bound.Fairly quiet, but busy enought.Prefer it to Woodhall as it saves the walk across the bridge.Always great quick serviceFood is as expected, but great for keeping you on the road.Will be back again.

The macccie ds I had was very nice. The opportunity was quite unique as I ordered a breakfast and a burger within minutes of each other. With my breakfast I had some orange juice which was yellow in colour; this was very confusing. In addition with a cup of tea I ordered the staff gave me 3 milk sachets which I thought was very wasteful as the average Brit doesn't like their tea too milky. Also my aging mother was confused as the sausage in the sausage mc muffin was flat rather than sausage shaped. Having said that this innovation of the sausage being flat made it much easier to eat. Well done mc Donald's! Very successful visit can't wait for next time.

All I can say is this was an experience and a half....a mangager took my order, what a disgrace he was, if you can't understand my English please don't work there and serve people. Very slow service, no napkins. Tables were disgusting and not cleaned, I don't expect to eat around head hair on the table.Toilets were nice and clean but that's ok about it.

Stopped off at the Tibshelf Services Southbound on the M1 on the way home to use the toilets and crab a coffee.The service station was reasonably clean and well maintained.Café Latte from Costa's was as you'd expect.One of the better motorway service stations.

I called in to Tibshelf services on the M1 last week on a business trip to Wakefield. I had never visited this particular sevices before, but it left a very good impression - everything was clean and tidy, and it all looked newly refurbished.I called in at McDonald's for breakfast. I ordered a double sausage and egg McMuffin meal, and a bacon and egg McMuffin. The food was served pretty quickly, and it was all steaming hot and perfectly cooked.A good first visit, and I would definitely call in again on a journey up the M1. An excellent service station, and a very good McDonald's branch.

I couldn't' believe how long I had waited before my patience eventually exhausted. I observed McDonald's own staff, on their tea/lunch break, placing their order (all three of them). I am happy with this, they have to eat/drink too. What annoyed me was that the serving staff though it fit to carry on a conversation whilst their orders were being prepared and not serve other paying customers - me! In the end, I interrupted their conversation and asked why they couldn't serve other customers as is my observation of other McDonald's restaurants ( I use the term 'restaurant' loosely). I only wanted a coffee. I should have went to Costa Coffee with my daughter, who offer a much better choice of milk for coffee, and she was served in a couple of minutes. I was absolutely furious especially as the looks I got from the staff were accusing.

McDonalds Food is McDonalds food. When you are desperate and in a hurry then it's the place to go and to be fair is good value, plus the coffee is quite good. However, the service in some branches is hopeless and this is another one. I know McDonalds supposedly prides itself on it's staff training, but it clearly doesn't work in this branch.

Tibshelf services is only a small service area but it never seems that busy and area is pleasant tho could do with brightening up a bit ?? Not a lot of choice for food here and so it seemed McDonald's breakfast was a good reasonably prices option. Service was prompt and with a smile.

It's what it says on the can ideally located gorgeous Days in and it's 24 hrs so it's convenient. Just off the M1. Staff or helpful and the service is fast

Having been recommended a Pulled-pork wrap, I came off the M1 for a break and snack:Pulled pork wrap meal with tea.The chips were luke warm, the wrap, which I had to wait for so assume was freshly made was cold in the middle. The staff made a fresh one after I returned the wrap. This too was cold in the middle. Not wishing to return again to the counter, I microwaved the wrap in the restaurant microwave.Seeing the manager present, I complained reminding him of food handling temperatures & the necessity of reheating previously cooked pork thoroughly. The microwaved wrap was inedible - salad mush not good!The whole meal was discarded.As a positive, the is still hot!

We stopped off for a short break at this service station, a little Hungary so had a McDonald's just had 9 nuggets. The young guy who served us was so uninterested, if he smiled his face would crack and the nuggets were just warm, even the little old lady that had just had a decafe coffee commented on his facial attitude. Not a good visit.

Had to stop here driving back to leeds little lad wanted a happy meal ,why do the younger staff always have to have attitudes he took my order i payed and he returned with order didnt place the food on a tray did,nt acknowledged me just asked who was next next ( its hard working for a living ).. but he enjoyed the the food and the seating area very clean hence the 3

Stopped on the journey from Birmingham Airport to home after a great holiday. Granted it was midnight and skeleton staff but...what a disgrace! Tables were full of empty cartons and initially we thought it must have been from perhaps a set of travelling football fans etc but when we went to clear our own rubbish there bins were overflowing!!!Perhaps I should add the serving staff (one young lady) was excellent but finding a cleanish table to start with and being surrounded by litter is not the best advertisement for this chain. We will never use this service station again.

Visited recently on way to Stratford, stopped off for a comfort break and decided to have a snack/meal here. Great bacon and chicken salad with fries and a burger with fries......we sat out in the sun at one of the picnic tables. This station is much better then most, very clean, plenty of shared seating indoor, good toilet facilities, whole area clean and well organised through-out. Some basic shops for snacks, touristy items, sweets etc....Huge car parking area outside, with signs about ''pay and display'' times, cost etc.....Children letting off steam and many dog walkers out up at the back away from kids area's.....will visit again if passing through.

Lets start with the good points, Tibshelf is always relatively quiet, as far as motorway services are concerned, you can almost always walk straight up to the counter at McDonalds here. Thats about it for the good points. Just because you have walked up to the counter does not necessarily mean you will be served straight away. I have been three or four times now in the last month and service has been slow, when you consider that there are never more than 4 or 5 customers around when I go in, this is unacceptable. The next bad point is the quality of the food, you expect McDonalds to be a McDonalds, however here there is always an issue. One week the smoothie maker was broken, another week the fries were all undercooked, I once asked for a chocolate milkshake and got vanilla and not to mention the fact that the lettuce in the burgers is always brown like its a few days old. I can JUST about put up with all of this. However, the icing on the cake was this weeks Big Tasty with Bacon. I thought something was up when the server fetched it almost instantly (it was ready-made on the hotshelf), however upon inspection the bread was hard (and taking it out of the box left about half of the bun stuck to the cardboard), the burger looked burnt and the lettuce was a bit brown (tbh that is the norm here). However after a four hour drive up from the south coast I couldn't be bothered to moan and get a spit-filled replacement so I ate it anyway. This mistake seems to have confined me to the bathroom for the last few hours. Not going into massive detail but I am writing this between visits to the porcelain throne right now. I have never suffered a stomach upset from Mcdonalds before and I will not be returning to this outlet again.

Nice hot food. Staff were very friendly and the place was vey clean. Better than some of the bigger restaurants on the high street.

Just as most of the McDonalds this was also very good with their burgers. I always like their Chicken burger. The fries were good. The staff were nice.

Nothing special about this outlet. Same food, slightly cold for Big Mac so always better to order a plain cheeseburger, as I did as I hate the nasty goo, and then you know it's cooked fresh rather than just standing on shelf for ages. Usual don't care about service attitude. Could have done with a clean.

Visited on 12th March at 7pm with business colleagues and the service we received was shocking! Ordered a Big Mac meal which left one of us stood waiting at the counter for over 10 minutes. People who ordered after us received Big Mac meals so it wasn't like waiting for it to be freshly cooked so we didn't get served in turn. It's supposed to be fast food at reasonable quality. My salsa legend meal was just touching on the warm side and fries was stone cold. Majority of our party had finished their meals before the person waiting for a Big Mac meal. There was no apology no nothing. I have complained to their head office and they said it would be forwarded on to the area manager and the manager and someone will be in touch. I called after a week went by and their head office said they would chase it up with the management of the outlet. Yet over another week has gone by and nothing. Surely if they cared about our custom they would call up to try resolve my complaint and apologise. We had been out on the road all day and needed a bite to eat for energy. Clearly this outlet is lacking customer service skills, not following standards and clearly not giving a s''t! My business holds over 50 employees and I have told them about our experience and they can see where we are coming from. I've complained on behalf of myself and my colleagues on the day. We will not be visiting this outlet especially again. Perhaps we will give another shot at another McDonald's but as it stands id rather go to Burger King or buy a sandwich. Bottom line not value for money, rubbish customer service skills and crap customer aftercare after reporting a problem. After all I was just giving them feedback in ways in which they can improve but sorry it's unacceptable!

Hi.Nice McDonalds here at Tibshelf on the M1.Situated between J28-J29.Plenty of room to queue with seating area shared with Costa.Pleasant staff not over worked like at Woodall services up the road.Tibshelf is one of my preferred motorway stops, never really too busy with a much more relaxed atmosphere than Trowell or Woodall services.I generally use this McD in the morning on my way down south so the Big Breakfast is what i have with an extra hash brown, very nice.Always get a smile here when ordering, so important i think to make the customer feel comfortable.All in all can't complain.Good McDonalds served with a smile...nuff said!
